Ground floor, Bella Tower, Whyalla, Bundaberg IV

The Bundaberg system was nice enough, thought the General Secretary. Living up to its namesake, it produced excellent alcohol. And the people were nice and friendly. The only problem was the temperature, hovering at twenty-two degrees Centigrade.

For someone brought up in the hot environment of central North Amarisk, like James Bovill had been, it was freezing. He crossed his arms, which were clad in a blue business suit like the rest of him, and tried to get warm.

The guests were due to arrive quite soon, and he felt it was a matter of personal honour to meet them at the ground floor. He decided most of them probably wouldn't mind this temperature anyway, and he could also get the technicians to adjust it if it were really necessary.

The gold shining light above the front doors suddenly clicked to green, and the General Secretary decided it was time to welcome the guests.

(OOC: Basically this thread is a diplomatic party. The Bella Tower has four hundred floors, and is about a kilometre tall. The top hundred floors are reserved for the guests' use, and include apartments for those special diplomatic moments. ;) Also, the first person to enter has to shake hands with my character. It's a duty of state, you know.)

Lamonian General Norman Kessler had flown to Kostemetsia for the Diplomatic Ball, and apparently was the first one in the door. Kostemetsians guided him to an impressively attired man, who the General assumed to be an important Kostemetsian governmental official. Had he bothered to read his briefing materials from the LIA, he would have recognized the man as James Bovill; the General Secretary of the nation that he was now in.

He stepped up to the man, and shook his hand. "I am General Norman Kessler of the Free Republic of Lamoni. It is an honor to meet you, and an honor to be here at this time of diplomatic dealings."

"General Kessler. Nice to meet you. I'm hoping you're enjoying our nation."

James, unlike Kessler, had read his briefing. The man was a top diplomat, which was frankly odd for a member of the military. No matter, it didn't negotiate his, well, top-ness (James could think of no other word).

"The main room is over that way."

Using his neural implants, he sent a signal to the floor material to start rippling. It formed a smooth, curved line in the direction of the large, imposing doors to the main ballroom.
