[ooc: Basically, this is about what is happening after the Akimonad-Echo Islands war. If you are not Kirav, Nova Pictivia, or Akimond do not post here with out asking me first. If you are not in the CAP, QC, CN, or UC, don't even ask.]

Wev Sector, Neo Savannah

The war was supposed to have ended. Far from it, James now realized. A tattered Akimonadi flag was laid out across the nearby street. The fighting in Neo Savannah had settled down, loud speakers blared out that the war was over trying to quell the fighting. Fires burned across the city still, to the distress of the fire departments. James looked about, everything had gone so wrong. A car drove by, a hybrid, using only the electric battery. The vehicle has several bullet holes in the side, and blood on one of the windows. James looked at the front license plate; it was an air brushed picture of a beach in the background and in the foreground, was the name ‘Amy’ in cursive. “No.” James muttered. “She can’t be gone.”

To James’ relief, a woman, his fiancée, stepped from the driver’s side door. He gave her a loving embrace and kissed her. “I was so sure you were gone.” He whispered in her ear. Suddenly, a helicopter zoomed overhead. It dumped gallons of water onto a nearby burning building and zoomed toward the ocean.

In a nearby sector, a crane knocked down a condemned building, destroyed by rocket fire. James heard the crash but ignored it. He was too happy to be at peace, with or with out the Akimonadi.

James entered his apartment complex, hand in hand with Amy. His complex had been spared from fighting. And for this he was thankful. He turned on the TV, and continued to kiss his fiancée, the TV was unluckily on the news.

The reporter came on saying: “Today, the war is officially over, and the Akimonadi have accepted terms of the treaty of the Nova Maria. Delpin Hyit is likely to make a State of the Confederacy address to access the future of the nation. Likely, this address is to contain his plans for rebuilding the damaged cities during the war. Hyit has been moved to Upson, nearly unaffected from the conflict, and there is a serious possibility that the Senate will vote to make Upson the capital of the Confederacy, if only temporarily.

Many reports have been coming in about continued violence…”

“Turn that off,” began Amy, interrupting the couple’s passion “it’s depressing.” James picked up the remote and clicked the TV off.

When war became peace, soldiers became aid workers.

The Imperial fleet poised to invade and liberate Echonia layed down its arms, and the soldiers and crewmen aboard touched their boots on Echoese soil not running towards Akimonadi defenders with weapons, but racing towards burning sections of the city, carrying buckets of water. The food intended to feed an army was dispensed from the supply ships to feed homeless Echoese.

In Kartika, a city that had been burnt to the ground twice in its history, the Senate authorised ♢2,000,000,000 toward Reconstruction.

In War, and in Peace, the alliance sealed on that fateful Kartika night would hold strong.

ooc: yes, sorry, I forgot you did that.

The Yanitarian Government, feeling guilty about having to pull out, had decided on making up for it through relief efforts.

Ships departed from Yanitaria, containing prefab temporary buildings meant to shelter as many people as they could quickly and cheaply, with an acceptably level of privacy, departed for Echoia.

Reserve troops from the Army were sent (unarmed), along with government construction workers to set up the buildings. In other ships, essentials, like food from the fertile farms (OOC:edited a stupid typo) of Yanitaria, Toilet paper, toothpaste, and miscellanious items like tooth brushes where piled high.

One whole ship was packed with luxury items to improve the morale of the people, such as Yanitarian wine, chocolates, magazines, books, and ice cream.

Finally, most of the ships contained steel, concrete, and glass to rebuild the cities of Echoia.

All of it was donated by the government owned companies of Yanitaria, who were then payed back by sympathetic civilians, and the government.

OOC: So I suppose they will land in Neo Savannah?

As well the financial aid, the Empire arranged to send 50,000 more Kiravian volunteers, along with 200,000 Kemerali contract labourers to the Far Echo Islands to rebuild.

Donations to the Empire's Echoese Reconstruction fund poured in. Many of the 5 million Echoese-Kiravians chipped in. Each day, ships would leave Greysand, New Harbour, carrying dozens of young Echo-Kiravian men to the land of their ancestors to rebuild.

Neo Savannah was now the site of a great cooperative international effort, the war torn city was no longer burning, and the aid had started pouring in. Still, so much had been destroyed by the wars. It was falling apart and coming back together all at once. The city seemed like a sand castle made out of too wet sand.

The gunfire had finally stopped, and with the fires out, a sense of peace was settling on the city. The ocean wind seemed like a divine calming hand waving over the city and reassuring the populace that everything would be OK. Martial law was still in place, and likely would be for quite some time until the city got back on its feet. General Keewatin Lakewater, whom had been appointed head of the reconstruction, took pride in his job and had plans to make the city better than before.

The task at hand now was finding the dead and condemning buildings ravaged during the war. Neo Savannah seemed half like it had been invaded and half like it had been hit by a hurricane. There was a strong drive not to have Neo Savannah not end up like Atlantinia, an evacuated, radioactive wasteland. The largest city, and several times the capital, of the Confederacy, would be revived and returned to its former glory and beyond.

Upson

Today, Delpin Hyit was to give his State of the Confederacy address. He knew the word he would uses, the state of the confederacy was ‘revitalized’ and he would go on to talk about how if the nation united, they could undo the damages of war. He would address the fact that taxes would have to be raised and welfare reinstated, something the people would not like, but, he would do his best. He would throw in that the capital was not officially Upson. He also had another part to his speech, the fact that he would not run again for Arbiter of the Confederacy. He could have run three more times before being forced to retire, however, he felt that he had done his people a great disservice. And so, before a crowd of over a million, Hyit stated his rhetoric, and it was done. Now, as he proceeded off stage, Hyit grabbed the cross necklace he almost always wore, and he muttered, ‘Only God and time can save this nation now, I have done all that I can.”

OOC: yes, most aid is concentrated in Neo Savannah as it is the hardest hit area.

In what had once been a pleasant residential district, a group of Kiravians and Kemerali were sifting through rubble, occasionally pausing to drape a white cloth over a newly-found corpse. Among them was no less than Peale Oceanlife, Governor of New Harbour. He worked just as the other Imperials did, dumping brick and concrete into large dumpsters. He paused for a bit to rest. The cold oceanic climate of New Harbour was quite a contrast to Neo-Savannah's subtropical weather. As he walked to the neary command tent to get some water, he realised just how hard the city had been hit. People picked through the shattered remains of their homes, trying to salvage what little they could. A group of KE medics were trying to identify the dead that had been found in the district. Oceanlife had seen it before, when the Iveronian town he lived in was raided, but not on this scale. And he'd been lucky enough to escape and seek a new life elsewhere. What would these people do? He thought of Greysand, his capital. Would it look like this someday? Who would survive to pick up the pieces?

Meanwhile in Neo-Savannah's harbour, some of the Kiravian warships remained. While most had left to escort the supply ships back to Sattelia to pick up food and medicine for the victims, a few remained. The Fidelity, the Iceland, the Pacific, and others. It was not the first time that the Empire's fleet had rested in this port. And it would not be the last.

Helicopters and Humvees now filled the air and streets. The National Guard had arrived in Neo Savannah. There was plenty of work to be done. With the city under martial law, crime had dropped sharply, but was still pervasive.

In the worst hit sectors, there was a high demand for the basics of life, water, food, any kind of shelter, worst of all, body bags. Explosions had ripped at residences and businesses as daily live had gone on as normal. There were thousands of bodies scattered around the city.

By the end of the day, there were about 1,000 bodies collected. Heavy equipment had been moved in to clean up the rubble. It was slow, travailing work, but it had to be done. It was made even harder by recycling ordinances; the rubble had to be sorted before it was shipped out of the city. Many places had had water mains and electrical lines hit. It would be best just to rip out everything except the dirt and just build anew. This would surly begin to stall the economy.

Elections are scheduled for Friday 16 Feb. 2008 (rl).

Neo Savannah

Piranha AFVs rolled down the streets, helping to keep order. Soldiers sat in the turret, looking gruff and unforgiving as they patrolled the streets.

Meanwhile, Army Engineers roamed the city, planning out various reconstruction efforts. Combat Engineering Vehicles and bulldozers were clearing away debris to be recycled or disposed of.

Helicopters descended into the city, carrying loads of food and other aid for the citizens. Upon landing they began distributing it liberally.

Meanwhile, soldiers and aid workers descended on the ruined sections of the cities, setting up shelters and distributing food and water. The hospital ship AMS Vigilance was moored in port and helped supply medical care.
