Zhanland was a country formed by allied units that rebeled from Russia in 2012, the rebellion was led by Viisyel Miilwu (russian name Пётр Марш), who fought as the commander in chief of the rebellion Zhanland state, now the Republic of Zhanland. On March 1st, 2012, the country of Zhanland was formed, and Viisyel and the entire country enjoyed independance, but only for 1 month, then, when business was needed, it was back to work for the citizens of Zhanland, even though work was hard, it payed of in a year, then, Zhanland was running like a lot of other well profiting countries. The Kamipa(commander) Viisyel spent 40% of all of the country's money on avionics and technological industries. It was a huge risk, but if it worked, Zhanland would be well known, the people would have up-to-date technology, money would come it, and military strength would grow. The plan worked, but only parcially, Zhanland is still not a well known country. The country of Zhanland is between Russia, Georgia, and Turkey. The languages spoken in Zhanland are Zhaniic(obviously), Russian, English, Georgian and Turkish. The most powerful military force is the Z.I.D. Zhaniic Iriil Daljiir, Zhaniic Air Force.

Londim
01-02-2008, 21:39
Nation: Londim
Founded in: Past Tech. Now is a Future Tech Nation
History:

Londim was formed when four large tribes came together from every corner of a disunited land and formed Londim to find strength in numbers and unity. This nation was ruled for many centuries by The Four. The Four were descendants of the Chiefs of the Tribes, the honour passing down Parent to Child. Everyone enjoyed freedom and prosperity.

However in Modern Times, The Four disagreed about Londim's future and Wappo, one of the Four was murdered. The nation became ruled by The Three but their rule was shortlived as revolution occured. The Three were imprisoned and all died in captivity. Instead an Emperor was chosen by the people and Londim continued it's prosperity.

Current Situation:

Londim is now a space faring society and has it's own planet which is shared with the Kitsune. At this point in time, Londim and other societies are investigating the happenings of the Planet Fusion.
Mott Haven
01-02-2008, 22:12
Mott Haven dates to 1614AD, when a dreadful last minute change to a colonization expedition was blamed, inaccurately, on a malfunctioning alarm clock.

1621: Trying to control plague, Mott Haven attempts to exterminate the Rat population.

1628: Accepting Rat victory, Mott Haven promotes the little beasts to National Animal and promises to blame future plagues on less resilient creatures.

1633: After half the population of Mott Haven is stricken with Flermont's Giggling Syndrome, the Lesser Reticulated Marsh Panda is rendered extinct.

1640-1660: Nothing of great interest occurs. This is now regarded as the Golden Age of Mott Haven.

1661: The Golden Age ends as the Bar Association of Mott Haven admits its first members.

1688: Mott Haven's government begins its campaign of writing bizarre laws onto the books, knowing that future generations will one day find them hilarious and post them into e-mail lists.

1703: Mott Haven invents the feather duster, in reponse to a growing problem with dusty feathers.

1722: Mapping of Mott Haven begins. The project would last some 44 years, as a lack of funding kept the team from using anything larger than their 12 foot tape measure.

1760: Mott Havians succeed in domesticating their national animal, the Rat.

1789: Astrologers finally figure out what has been going wrong: Mott Haven is the only nation on Earth from which is visible the mysterious 13th sign of the Zodiac. This is Cavius, the Guinea Pig.

1849: With the use of a Golden Spike, the first Trans-Mott Haven rail line is completed. Railroad executives, as well as safety analysts, would later concluded that perhaps gold should not have been used to make structural components.

1882: The long simmering and very costly border conflict with distant Vetalia ended when Mott Haven's generals sheepishly admitted that no, the two nations did not actually have a border. This has colored Motthavian views on military adventurism ever since.

1890: Mott Haven's Bella Epoch, a time of prosperity coupled with a blossoming of the fine arts. Actually, this wasn't all of 1890. It was July 9th, 1890. Between 5 and 8 am. And it wasn't all the fine arts that blossomed, just one.

1904: After the Great Banking Fake-out of 1904, Mott Havenites no longer trust bankers. Like Advocados, however, they are deemed a necessary evil.

1925: A popular myth is debunked when a Mott Havens Bureau of Labor study determines, conclusively, exactly how many Mott Havians are required to screw in a light bulb.

1951: Millions of Mott Haven school children are tested with the "Cogling and Snowles Standard Apptitude Battery". High scores are achieved by, among other things, demonstrating skill and speed at such tasks as forcing square pegs into round holes. Results of these tests influence Mott Haven society for decades.

1965: Mott Haven's ordnance against erotic desserts, enacted in 1690, is repealed, although numerous other strange restrictions are left in force, jsut because.

1997: Mott Haven engineers unveil the world's largest microchip, explaining that it was an obvious direction no one else seemed to be going with.

2007: Mott Haven scientists claim to have invented the Internet. When informed that the rest of the world already has one, they respond "oh. But you're talking about the kind that works with computers, right?"
Aagartha
01-02-2008, 22:52
Nation: Kingdom of Aagartha
Founded: Oct. 12, 2013 CE
Location: Mid-North Atlantic Ocean
Type: Island chain consisting of 83 islands, 21 are inhabitated, 41 smaller islands are used as military bases

History

On October 3rd, 2013, the island chain known collectively as the Aagarthan Archipalego, declared their independence from their former rulers, the UK. Rather than fight them, due mainly to economic hardship, the UK acknoledged their independence. On October 12th, 2013, The Kingdom of Aagartha was formerly established as an absolute monarchy under King Lazlo IX. Unlike traditional marchies, King Lazlo II made sweeping reforms that granted citizens basic rights. Despite his reforms, civil rights are still a top political debate that is now making progress for the people. Following King Lazlo's reforms, he died of a heart disease and his crown was passed to his youngest child, Prince Johnathan Zerx, who was later known as King Christopher I. Under King Christopher the Aagarthan military was established along with the current political system. He also strengthend the economy, allowing Aagarthans to live a comfortable life.

Aagarthan Political System

It has a Judicary and Congressional branch, both elected by the people. The Next king/queen is elected by the congress which is known as the Assembly. It is then approved by the Judicary branch, but if they are displeased with the election they may veto the Assembly's vote. Then Congress must vote again, and if the same person is elected as King/Queen, then the Judicary branch's veto is overriden. The King or Queen has the powers of that of a president, but the Prime Minister, who is elected by the people, has the right to formalize foreign treaties.

Aagarthan Military Forces

The Aagarthan Military is currently small, but is beginning to increase due to recent funding and expansion. Currently, 38% of Aagartha's GDP is spent on military funding, and is starting to increase.

AHSCA
01-02-2008, 23:52
Origins

It isn't known who settled or when these islands were settled. There are many theories as to the islands origins.

Ancient Break offs

This theory states that the islands may have been around since the B.C. eras. From where it isn't known. There are thoes that present theorize that the islands were a result of Pangea. Some theorize they were once part of Kanami but broke away long before it's settlement. Others have suggested they could have been part of The North Hanover Islands Dependency Chain. Still it isn't known.

Underwater Seismic Activity

The most common and likely theorem that the islands were formed by underwater volcanoes. However non of the AHSCA peaks are seismically active or have erupted (which would account for the often poor soil) which has some scientist baffled.

Settlement

Settlement is still unknown other than the history of Animalpolis which is believed to be settled by fleeing Hybrids most notably Nekos. However it is likely the islands were settled from various shipwrecked sailors from the northern areas (Which would explain why not all have naturally tanned skin) However the islands have long lacked any formal government until very recently which makes some to believe they may have been settled within the last 5-10 years. Others have suggested it could be because the life expectancy is very low and the mortality rate is high.

Occupation Eras

The island were most notable for the communist occupations. Most being Soviet Satalites before they left at some point. During the occupation eras the satalites were primarily there as military outposts and not civilian rule. The lives of people were generally uninterfered with. Those that pledged loyalty to the Motherland were drafted and given arms and trained. Once the occupation ended much equipment was left behind as well as insurgents still loyal to the motherland hopping for a revival. The islands were also very separated from each other. Neither of them really interacted much until the end of occupation.

Pre-Protection/Major War Eras

Although the islands have lacked very formal government they have all had some formal structure. Aurora was likely some sort of monarchy or feudalistic system (A Grand Duchy to be more exact) the most notable being Shino Nanao (Now Shino Villa) who was appointed Grand Duchess Aurora Island was likely a military coalition, Stilleståndö (Truce) was a monarchy, Animalpolis was a semi-commonwealth colony. (However it is still likened to an Autocracy) It was at this time they began intertrading with each other. Still the islands kept mostly to themselves.

Aurora

Aurora was doing fairly well for its self. Although it was a Grand Duchy it was very much becoming a direct democracy. The low population the the closeness of people made this pretty achievable.

Hoshino

Hoshino was doing also fairly good. However it suffered from poor soil and frequent bad weather. Some insurgents left over still caused problems. Besides mild civil tension Hoshino did all right.

Stilleståndö

Stilleståndö (or Truce Island) still had many problems with civil unrest and bloody violence. Communist rebels still loyal tried multiple times to stage a coup against the king on several occasions. The efforts were unsuccessful and costly. Many civilians were killed in the crossfire and much of the beaches were being littered with artillery.

Corona

Corona was doing well. Virtually no civil tension existed and the society was that of a near utopia. Corona was ruled more like small villages with a master chief. It was at this time that Kino Turell was becoming chief.

Animalpolis

Animalpolis remained undesturbed from the outside and was of course a heaven for those that were the strange minority. This was the point when the leader of Animalpolis agreed to talk to the international community about the nature of this strange and mysterious island. He let a news crew film details about the island but it seemed to do little good for the island, as the documentary was paid little mind and wrote it off.

Protection Agreement

As civil tension died out, it seemed more strangers were nearing the coast lines. This had many people in the region nervous. One night a small group of Communist rebels spotted a ship nearing the coast; they had thought their brothers had returned, and attempted another coup. Fortunately it was quickly squashed with no other injuries. On Aurora Shino was ofically made Duchess and she began to take a strong role in Government. Shino was fearing the strangers but was unsure what to do with it. During a routine fishing trip Shino was caught in a major storm and washed up on Kanami shores. She was rescued and taken to a hospital and treated. It was soon found out she was infact a Duchess of an island to the south. Shino was able to get a meeting with Prime Minister Elenore Romney and asked her if Kanami would be a Protector state to the islands. Shino went to great lengths to convince her island neighbors to agree to this, but they did. Kanami's agreement gave the island autonomy and didn't interfere with their personal business. So long as they upheld their end of the bargain by preventing oppressive regimes.

War

The protection didn't last long. After a bitter first war with Stevid AHSCA became subject to more regional peace keepers. This made the natives nervous, fearing these strange GDI peace keepers would invade upon them. While the islands remained relatively undisturbed there were still several incidents with strange trespasses. Jets would occasionally fly over the islands and ships would come close to get a look at these mythical islands. This made people increasingly nervous, which lead to Kanami appeals to remove GDI personnel from the region. GDI refused which lead to more and more arguing which ultimately led to the islands being invaded. Independent Hitmen landed on Aurora and took Shino prisoner. Shino peacefully protested the invasion demanding an explanation. She was given none and taken to a military prison. Shino recalls her time in the prison as a horrific experience.

"It was a hellish cold dungeon feel. Where I wasn't sure. I was stripped naked and put into a cell to basically freeze. I was frightened for my life each time. I could tell the guards didn't like me but for reasons I wasn't sure." -Shino Villa

By the time she was actually taken to a prison in IH she was treated better. She wasn't stripped or harassed but she still felt scared that she would be a POW for the rest of her life. Meanwhile Stevid took Hoshino and Truce Island, while RedTide 2 took Corona. On Truce several war crimes were being committed on a daily basis by the Knights Templar. Shinto priests were being hung for practicing their religion, and speaking out against the Knights. Several people were also killed in the shelling of the islands. The island militias found themselves beaten by the juggernauts of the Stevid armada. Corona as under the brutal dictorial state of RedTide2, hundreds were reported to be captured and shot on the spot. Meanwhile RT2 set it's sights on Animalpolis but found heavy resistance against the stealthy population and a confusing maze of caverns. A counter attack was mounted but a large hurricane forced them out and back to the negotiating table. By the time the war was over over 100,000 people were killed. Women and children amongst them. AHSCA has still long demanded justice but has felt the world has turned it's back on them.

Unification and Declaring Independence

As the war drew on and on it almost seemed to be coming to a close following a major hurricane. Most troops were pulling out, for now at least, a group of leaders in Shino's absence gathered and created a constitution and declared their independence. Several countries recognized their independence but a handful continued see the islands (and still do, to date) as an illigatamit state still under the rightful control of the foreign invaders.

The Constitution considered a universal unification of all five islands under a Federal Government.

The Time Line of the Confederation of Solar Communes
The History of Mankind and of Anarchism

Pre-historic Era(~200,000 BC - ~8,000 BC)

200,000 BC

After millions of years of Evolution, the first Homo Sapiens, our black skinned ancestors, are born as a species in Africa, in a time where Anarchism wasn't a idea, but a fact, as they lived in a government less, non-hierarchical and non-paternalistic hunter-gatherer society long before anarchism emerged as a distinct perspective.

40,000 BC

The first Homo Sapiens societies are formed in Eurasia and Oceania. A DNA mutation gives origin to the white-skin Caucasian Homo Sapiens.

35,000-13,000 BC

Modern humans in the form of Cro-Magnons began arriving in the Iberian Peninsula through the Pyrenees. The best known artifacts of these prehistoric human settlements are the famous paintings in the Altamira cave of Cantabria in northern Spain. The two main historical peoples of the peninsula were the Iberians and the Celts.

England was the last area of the British Isles to be repopulated after a Ice Age, about 13,000 BC. The migrants arriving during this period contrast with the other of the inhabitants of the British Isles, coming across land from the south east of Europe, whereas earlier arriving inhabitants came north along a coastal route from Iberia. These migrants would later adopt the Celtic culture that came to dominate much of western Europe.

From the ethnic groups located in those two regions most of the DNA of Solar Communes citizens can be traced back. Their are their ancestors.

10,000 BC

The Homo Sapiens, still living in non-hierarchical "primitive" societies, reach the Americas, giving origin to the Native American tribes

Ancient Era(~8,000 BC - 476AD)

Civilization has begun... and equally resistance against its hierarchical and coercive foundations occurred.

Around 9,500 BC to 8,000 BC

Primarily in Asia, the Neolithic Revolution begins with the dawn of agriculture. The transition from a stateless "primitive" hunter-gatherer without private property to an agricultural society begins. Mankind would never be the same again.

Around 6,000 BC

In the Fertile Crescent, cradle of Civilization, organized religions start to exist as the first civilized communities sharing cultural backgrounds are established. The foundations of social and clerical hierarchies start to rise.

One of the earliest examples of civilizations with democracy was found in the republics of ancient India, existing prior to the birth of Gautama Buddha. These republics were known as Maha Janapadas, and among these states, Vaishali (in what is now Bihar, India) would be the world's first Republic.

Around 5,300 BC

The Mesopotamian civilization of Sumer is born, being the first complex civilization to develop on Earth and the civilization responsible for the invention of the Wheel. With them, the first Kings came to existence and the first signs of oppression as well, in the form of persecutions against those who challenged the will of the King... and in the form of Slavery. Gender equality starts to fade.

Around 4,500 BC

At Hamoukar in Syria, evidence of an early battle has been found, with those benefiting from the struggle being members of the Uruk culture from Southern Iraq. Although many pre-historic societies warred for pure need of survival, the dawn of hierarchical Military and of the wars motivated by the power acquired did not exist before. The non-hierarchical societies of hunter-gatherers were slowly fading or being conquered and enslaved while other non-hierarchical societies still thrived in the "less civilized" Americas and Oceania.

4500 BC to 476 AD

Many Empires and Civilizations were born, the Babylons, the Hebrews, the Egyptians, the Greeks. The Roman Empire almost unified the entire Europe, including the lands of our English and Iberian ancestors, through military power and use of new road construction technologies which connected its vast empire with fast paths for logistics and military deployment. But many also gave their lives in the struggle for freedom, and many proposed that there was an alternative to slavery and imperialism.

4th Millennium BC: Although only a minority had political rights, Athens gave birth to the first widely recognized Direct Democracy of History, the basis for the political structure of Third Spanish States, Third Commune and Solar Communes, with the difference those three have Universal Suffrage and lack most of the coercive and centralized nature.

600 BC: The Taoist sage Lao Zi (Lao Tzu) developed a philosophy of "non-rule" in the Tao Te Ching and many Taoists in return lived an anarchist lifestyle.

A leader is best when people barely know that he exists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worst when they despise him. Fail to honor people, They fail to honor you. But of a good leader, who talks little, when his work is done, his aims fulfilled, they will all say, "We did this ourselves." Lao Tzu

509 BC: The Roman Republic, organizational basis for all Western representative "democracies", is born.

467 BC:The first known usage of the word anarchy appears in the play Seven Against Thebes by Aeschylus. There, Antigone openly refuses to abide by the rulers' decree to leave her brother Polyneices' body unburied, as punishment for his participation in the attack on Thebes, saying that "even if no one else is willing to share in burying him I will bury him alone and risk the peril of burying my own brother. Nor am I ashamed to act in defiant opposition to the rulers of the city.

404 BC: In Athens, this year was commonly referred to as “the year of anarchy”. According to the historian Xenophon, this happened even though Athens was at the time in fact under the rule of the oligarchy of "The Thirty", installed by the Spartans following their victory in the second Peloponnesian war, and despite the fact that there was literally an Archon in place, nominated by the oligarchs, in the person of Pythodorus. However, the Athenians refused to apply here their custom of calling the year by that archon's name, since he was elected during the oligarchy, and “preferred to speak of it as the 'year of anarchy'”, symbolizing their refusal to recognize the existing "authority".

333 BC: Greek philosopher and one of the earliest proponents of anarchist concepts, Zeno of Citium, is born. In opposition to Plato, he argued that reason should replace authority in guiding human affairs.

By natural law human beings are rational and thus have a power of self-government. Hence no human being should be governed by an external master. Zeno of Citium

73 BC: Spartacus leads a growing group of slaves into their struggle for Freedom in an attempt to overthrow the Roman Empire. In the following years, he proved to be an exceptional tactician in several victories against Rome. However eventually he was defeated and his rebellion quelled with a brutal crucification of countless of slaves which bodies were laid to rot, he served as a great inspiration for modern and information age revolutionaries.

0 - 313 AD: The time Jesus Christ supposedly was born and his teachings were spread. According to Christian Anarchists, his teachings sought to create a compassionate, pacifist, ascetic, anarcho-communist society ruled only spiritually by God, as Earthly governments were considered to be illegitimate, while the Early, authentic Christian Church, where some have practiced certain features of anarchism. For example, the Jerusalem group, as described in Acts, shared their money and labor equally and fairly among the members. From the earliest period, women and men have shared religious duties equally. According to Solar Communes brand of Christians, the teachings of Christ were corrupted by Paulus of Tarsus and by the interests of Roman Empire into turning it in an official religion, its original beliefs were entirely manipulate for the interest of the State, with all anti-State passages removed or distorted after the Edict of Milan by emperor Constantine.

476 AD: The Roman Empire falls, giving the start to the feudal and theocratic Medieval Era.

Medieval Era(476 - 1500)

The Catholic Church slowly stepped up to become the ruler of a feudalistic, superstitious society based on feudal lords and serfdom, which was nothing besides a more elaborated and "elegant" form of organizing slavery. Although initially all that happened was excommunication or a clean, quick death, after a hundred of years the brutality of such society became evident after the establishment of the Inquisition and of the writing of the book Malleus Maleficarum. Those who questioned the status quo ended up in the gruesome tortures of the Inquisition, particularly powerful in Spain after the reconquista, to end in equally inhuman execution methods. It's believed that the establishment of hierarchies have slowly corrupted mankind to a point of savagery beyond any imagined before. In the 14th and 15th centuries during the Dark Ages, the Pre-Colonization civilizations have started to persecute the hunter-gathering tribes of America, which would have their fate sealed later by the Europeans... But some still stood for the cause of creating of a better society, based on their own faith. There were a variety of anarchistic religious movements in Europe during the Middle Ages, including the Brothers and Sisters of the Free Spirit, the Klompdraggers, the Hussites, Adamites and the early Anabaptists. Other important events are:

8th century: The Muslims conquer the Iberian peninsula, adding their ethnic heritage to those whose descendants would form the people of Solar Communes.

13th century: The Reconquista, most of the Iberian peninsula is freed from Muslim occupation. In 1469, the crowns of the Christian kingdoms of Castile and Aragon were united (even though both kingdoms kept a high degree of political and economical independence) by the marriage of Isabella and Ferdinand. In 1478 began the final stage of the conquest of Canary Islands and in 1492, these united kingdoms captured Granada, ending the last remnant of a 781-year presence of Islamic rule in the Iberian Peninsula.[23] The year 1492 also marked the arrival in the New World of Christopher Columbus, during a voyage funded by Isabella. The first modern Spanish nation-state emerges in the form of a Kingdom. Soon Portugal also is establish as an independent kingdom from Spain.

Early Modern/Colonization Era(1500 - 1700)

The end of the Middle Age, the dawn of the bourgeoisie as an emergent social class, the colonization of America and Africa and the dawn of the centralized Nation State under the rule of absolutist Monarchs in Europe marked the beginning of the "Modern Age" in Earth. Anarchism still had its moments during thist time, but societies remained more or less stable except for events like the involvement of Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War which turned England from a monarchist dictatorship to a republican dictatorship for a while.

1532-52: In Gargantua and Pantagruel, François Rabelais wrote of the Abby of Thelema (Greek word meaning "will" or "wish"), an imaginary utopia whose motto was "Do as Thou Will." Around the same time, the French law student, Etienne de la Boetie wrote his Discourse on Voluntary Servitude, in which he argued that tyranny resulted from voluntary submission, and could be abolished by the people refusing to obey the authorities above them.

16th century: The Anabaptists in Europe during the first centurty of the modern era were the religious forerunners of modern anarchism, because they repudiated all law, since they held that the good man will be guided at every moment by the Holy Spirit. Their beliefs influenced heavily the Christian anarchists of Third Spanish States and of the present.

1642-1651: The English Civil War makes a brief political change in England from an authoritarian Monarchy to a short Republic and to the Dictatorship of the Lord "Protector" Oliver Cromwell. Monarchy was restored by 1660.

1649: The Diggers (http://www.infoshop.org/wiki/The_Diggers), leaded by Gerrard Winstanley begun named as True Levellers in 1649, who became known as "Diggers" due to their activities. Their original name came from their belief in Christian communism based upon a specific passage in the Book of Acts. The Diggers attempted to reform (by "levelling" real property) the existing social order with an agrarian lifestyle based upon their ideas for the creation of small egalitarian rural communities. Gerrard Winstanley is considered a forerunner of modern Anarchism, who published a pamphlet calling for communal ownership and social and economic organization in small agrarian communities as basis of the Diggers ideals.

Imperial Era(1700 - 1830)

The reinforcement of the colonization of the Americas and Africa, the growth of slave trade business and the establishing of several colonies by the European superpowers of the time market the Imperial Age. But the most defining event of this age were the

Republican Revolutions(1775-1799)

The French Revolution marked the beginning of the end of the dominance of the clergy and of the noblesse from the Absolutist Monarchy as the ruling class and the dawn of the Republicanism and of the bourgeoisie as the new ruling class, and such was only reinforced by the establishment of the United States of America as an independent nation after the American Revolution based on the similar Republican ideals to those of the French Revolution, which would centuries later replace the England as the world superpower until its eventual decline.

1793: The first modern author to have published a treatise explicitly advocating the absence of government was William Godwin in An Enquiry Concerning Political Justice; though he did not use the word anarchism, he is today regarded as the "founder of philosophical anarchism" , the term Pierre-Joseph Proudhon adopted to describe his political philosophy.

1828: Leo Tolstoy, writer, philosopher, social activist and one of the founders of modern Christian Anarchism, is born. His doctrine of nonviolence would later influence Mahatma Gandhi in the nonviolent struggle for independence in India.

There are hundreds, thousands, even millions of other people just as we are, who see the truth as we do... and are only waiting, again as we are, for someone to proclaim it. The Kingdom of God is within you. Leo Tolstoy

Industrial Era(1830 - 1980s)

Steam Power and the First Industrial Revolution changes human society forever, and until the late 21st century, for worse, as it brings capitalist exploitation to a new a level as factories become death camps to thousands of miserable men, women and children of the proletariat exploited by the capitalist pigs of that age in inhuman conditions, including 48 hours shifts, less than 3 hours of sleep, highly hot, polluted and dirty industrial environments thriving with vermin and disease and equally miserable wages. From the exploitation performed against the unprivileged, resistance is born in the form of Luddites, syndicates and eventually this exploitation gives the powder keg necessary to ignited Communism as an ideology based on the concept of Class Struggle, and offering an economic alternative without misery and exploitation for the worker class. The Industrial Era involves all the two first industrial revolutions until the actual dawn of the Information Age with the popularization of the personal computer and with the birth of the Internet. Explaining the entire scope of events that happened during most of the 19th and 20th centuries precisely in a simple paragraph would be limited, and thus the following time lines are highlighted. Anarchism had both its rise and decline during this time as well. During the late half of the 19th century the European powers dominate significant parts of Africa and Asia

1840: Pierre-Joseph Proudhon becomes the first to self-proclaim himself an anarchist in his work Qu'est-ce que la propriete? (What is Property?) and creates the basic principles of the decentralized and cooperatives-based Mutualist economic system which was 177 years later turned into a reality with the birth of Third Spanish States

If I were asked to answer the following question: What is slavery? and I should answer in one word, It is murder, my meaning would be understood at once. No extended argument would be required to show that the power to take from a man his thought, his will, his personality, is a power of life and death; and that to enslave a man is to kill him. Why, then, to this other question: What is property! may I not likewise answer, It is robbery, without the certainty of being misunderstood; the second proposition being no other than a transformation of the first? Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

1848: Proudhon's ideas were influential within French working class movements, and his followers were active in the Revolution of 1848 in France, known in some countries as the Spring of Nations or the Year of Revolution, were a series of political upheavals throughout the continent. It was a revolutionary wave which spread throughout the Europe. While the immediate political effects of the revolutions were reversed by brutal violence of the State, the long-term reverberations of the events were far-reaching. Many of the changes of the late ninetenth and early twentieth centuries have origins in this revolutionary period.

. . . We have been beaten and humiliated . . . scattered, imprisoned, disarmed and gagged. The fate of European democracy has slipped from our hands. Pierre Joseph Proudhon

February 21, 1848: The Communist Manifesto, also known as The Manifesto of the Communist Party, is published and eventually becomes one of the world's most historically influential political tracts. Commissioned by the Communist League and written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, it laid out the League's purposes and program. The Manifesto suggested a course of action for a proletarian revolution to overthrow capitalism and, eventually, to bring about a classless society. A part of Third Spanish States and of its spacefaring incarnation society always voluntarily embraced communism as a viable economic organization, proving that "Real Communism" was possible.

The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Working men of all countries, unite! Karl Marx

1854: Benjamin Tucker, one of the most important advocates of Individualist Anarchism, is born. His work is a base for the principles of the non-exploitive, free from government bureaucracy and taxes and truly free market that was established in the city of Tucker, named in his homage. By the end of his life he feared humanity was at its end and all hopes of a better society were dwindling, a fear which was fortunately incorrect.

Anarchism does not exclude prisons, officials, military, or other symbols of force. It merely demands that non-invasive men shall not be made the victims of such force. Anarchism is not the reign of love, but the reign of justice. It does not signify the abolition of force-symbols but the application of force to real invaders. Benjamin Tucker

1868-1876: In 1868, Bakunin joined the First Internationale, a federation of radical and trade union organizations with sections in most European countries and also had a participation during the Paris Commune. The 1872 Congress was dominated by a fight between a reformist faction around Marx who argued for the use of the State and a faction around Bakunin who opposed any participation in any form of State. The anarchists insisted the congress was rigged and so held their own conference of the International at Saint-Imier in Switzerland in 1872. Mikhail Bakunin wrote most of his work during this period, including God and the State and Statism and Anarchy.

The Paris Commune(1871)

Proudhon's followers had a significant influence during the short-lasted due to quick oppressive reactionary forces but revolutionary struggle and model for a better society of the Paris Commune. In a formal sense the Paris Commune of 1871 was simply the local authority (council of a town or district — French "commune") which exercised power in Paris for two months in the spring of 1871. But the conditions in which it was formed, its controversial decrees and tortured end make it one of the more important political episodes of the 19th Century. Marx and Engels, Bakunin, and later Lenin and Trotsky tried to draw major theoretical lessons (in particular as regards the "withering away of the state") from the limited experience of the Commune.

1886: Haymarket Massacre against the Chicago anarchists in United States, creates the stereotype of the "bomb-throwing anarchist" due to a possible government's action to instigate violence during the protests.

20th Century

Through the 20th century, anarchists were actively involved in the labour and feminist movements, and later in the fight against fascism. The influence of this on anarchist thought is apparent, as most of the traditional anarchist philosophies emphasize the economic implications of anarchism or arrive at anarchism from economic arguments.

1902: Peter Kropotkin publishes the book Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution, which provided an alternative view on animal and human survival, beyond the claims of 'Survival of the Fittest' proffered at the time by some "social Darwinists".

It is often said that Anarchists live in a world of dreams to come, and do not see the things which happen today. We do see them only too well, and in their true colors, and that is what makes us carry the hatchet into the forest of prejudice that besets us. Peter Kropotkin

Russian Revolution(1905 - 1917)

1905: The revolution was an empire-wide struggle of violence, both anti-government and undirected, that swept through vast areas of the Russian Empire. It was not controlled or managed, and it had no single cause or aim, but instead was the culmination of decades of unrest and dissatisfaction stemming from the autocratic rule of the Romanov dynasty and the slow pace of reform. Although put down with a blend of accommodation and savagery, the Revolution did increase the pace of reform in Russia, but not enough to prevent the second revolution which overturned the Romanovs in 1917.

1917: The Russian Revolution of this year was a series of economic and social upheavals in Russia, involving first the overthrow of the tsarist autocracy, and then the overthrow of the liberal and moderate-socialist Provisional Government, resulting in the establishment of Soviet power under the control of the Bolshevik party. This eventually led to the establishment of the totalitarian state capitalism of the tyrannical and false socialist Soviet Union in 1922.

1917-1918: The Black Guards (Чёрная Гвардия) were armed groups of workers formed after the Russian Revolution and before the Third Russian Revolution. They were the main strike force of the anarchists. They were created in the Autumn of 1917 in Ukraine by Maria Nikiforova and in January 1918 in Moscow, under the control of anarchists at industrial enterprises by Factory and Plant Committees and by Moscow Federation of Anarchist Groups cells. In the beginning of 1918, in reaction to the growing repression of all opposition and free expression, the anarchist groups within the Moscow Federation formed armed detachments, the Black Guards headed by Lev Chernyi. On the night of April 12, 1918 the oppressive Cheka(secret police) raided the 26 anarchist centres in Moscow, including The House of Anarchy, the building of the Moscow Federation, and the Black Guards offered armed resistance. A fierce battle raged on Malaia Dimitrovka Street in which about 40 anarchists were killed or wounded and about 500 were imprisoned. They were the basis for the later formation of the Black Army. In honor of these brave men, the Special Forces of Third Spanish States, Third Commune and Solar Communes were named as the Blackguards in their English translation.

1919-1924: The anarchist Black Army, more known as the The Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army of Ukraine(Revolyutsiyna Povstans’ka Armiya Ukrayiny), becomes one of the last bastions of resistance against the about to come totalitarian Soviet Union. Ukrainian guerrilla bands were active during the Civil War period. Some claimed to be loyal to the Ukrainian state, but others acknowledged no allegiance, and all fought both Reds and White Russians with equal ferocity. After 1920 they constituted the only Ukrainian forces left in Soviet Ukraine. At that date they were said to number some 40,000; some of them fought until 1924. Soviet Union slowly corrupts the ideal of socialism under its totalitarian state. In honor to them the Blackguards Special Forces are in Spanish translated as "Ejército Negro"(Literally "Black Army").

Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice and Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality. Mikhail Bakunin

First World War(1914 - 1918)

The shock of capitalist interests among Europe, coupled with a shady assassination which served as its igniter, leads to the First World War. Millions die in a bloody conflict for the cause of nothing that a man should die for. Europe is crippled and Germany brought to misery, opening the conditions necessary for the proliferation of totalitarian and extremist ideologies like fascism.

Second Spanish Republic and First Spanish Civil War(1931-1939)

4/14/1931: The Second Spanish Republic is proclaimed. Alfonso XIII crosses paths on his way out of Spain with hundreds of returning exiles, among them the anarchists Buenaventura Durruti & Francisco Ascaso.

6/11/1931: The national congress the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT) begins in Madrid. This organization would become crucial in the defense of anarchist ideals later.

Third Commune(2050-212?)

Third World War(2070-2071)

It is ironic in a certain that the shortest duration war of mankind's history is also the one with the greatest death toll. The first year involved only conventional warfare as ten forces, or supranational sovereignties, fought for supremacy in Earth and for the last drops of petroleum, as sheer lack of vision has led many nations to continue completely dependent on Oil despite the major Peak Oil crisis that struck many world economies and escalated further by such year. Although the first year only involved use of conventional military attacks, and some brutal examples of the worst that mankind can perform that would make the Nanking Massacre seem like child's play as for a reason brutality has reached new levels never imagined before during this war, it was not surprising that in 17th of January of 2071, in a few brief hours, most of the planet was ravaged by fission and fusion bombs, ballistic missiles and orbital bombardment systems, flattening everything but a few, isolated territories which did not become involve din the war, like the Third Commune. It was never discovered who fired the first nuclear warhead, and in fact that has little importance considering the effects of the entire delivery of nuclear weapons in a process mutually assured destruction, as the amount of deployed nuclear weapons was much beyond the capability of interdiction of existing SDI technologies. In less than 1 hour civilizations and metropolises which took centuries to develop were completely annihilated, leaving behind only chaos, destruction and an environment which would bring the worst humanity could offer. More than 8 billion of human beings have died in what was perhaps the most tragic historic event of human history, not counting those who died of radiation poisoning, or victimized by the savagery and brutality that took over most of the world... and were it not the advanced anti-radiation nanite drugs and NBC protection technology developed in Third Commune, its people would share the same fate. Could something even worse happen? Such question would soon be answered...

Diamond/Nanotechnology Era(2071 - 2095)

Global State (http://www.nationstates.net/-1/page=display_nation/nation=global_state)(2078 - Present)

As the economically devastated Germany was the environment that brought Adolf Hitler to power... the devastation of the Third World War against most of the known world would eventually bring to power something much worse than whate the dystopian predictions that Orwell and Huxley have envisioned about a dark, hopeless future for mankind. From the decadent United Nations, a man called Paulus Rovari Porter have volunteered himself as "governor of the world", despite the total refusal of the Third Commune to accept his authority and in a few years, through sheer oppression and violence, have restored order on the rioting and devastated world in a way that seemed to be impossible. Several religions claimed Porter was the messiah that would save mankind and although initially he was believed to be a "benevolent dictator", in a few years his iron fist became more and more ruthless and brutal. Perhaps it is deeply ironic that the same information technology, transhumanist and eugenics principles that were employed to create a perfectly free society in Third Commune were used to create an unquestionable totalitarian State of absolute tyranny which would call itself the Global State, from the ashes of the Third World War. According to Christians, such man was not only another tyrant in mankind's history, but this man was the Antichrist from the prophecy of the Book of Revelation. All "citizens", which are considered mentally dead and called mindless(or soulless) slaves or zombies by Third Commune and current Solar Communes people, were forced, at bullet-point or worse, to have implants of brain-computer interfaces which rather than serving as an improved ways of perception and communications, take advantage of centuries of shady researches over mind control to create the perfect device for enforcing conformity, it did stomped on freedom... it was much beyond, Global State has annihilated free will itself and thus annihilated what makes an human being human, they always obeyed, every single action, single gesture of them was controlled by the State... they were automatons and puppets rather than human beings. People who refused to follow the State-sponsored religion or accept the "mark of the Beast", specially Christians, are shot on sight. Rumors from a few refugees who managed to reach safety in Third Commune claimed that the code of this fascist Brain-Computer Interface is 666 and that they personally witnessed Porter "communicating with Satan", although the majority of skeptics simply consider him just a much more glorified tyrant, and "god-emperors" weren't unknown before in mankind's history as well. An uneasy truce was maintained for the first ten years... but it was certain that eventually, the inevitable war between the forces of Absolute Tyranny and Absolute Freedom would happen... mankind's darkest hour has begun.

Fourth World War(2090 - 212?)

The existence of Third Commune was not something tolerated by the Global State. After a quick military build up and long process of radiation cleanup and environmental restoration through advanced technology by the Global State, the island where Third Commune was located, the territories of African Communes, American Communes and the countless floating cities and submarine cities surrounding Third Commune dry land, the last bastions of freedom in Earth, were invaded from all sides by a force which was much beyond any amphibious operation ever imagined before. All odds were against Third Commune... the inhabitants of the city of Fatima believed such was the beginning of the great tribulation.

Space Era(2095-2170)

Exodus to Gliese 581(2120 - 2142)

Facing imminent defeat by the fascist forces of the Global State, Third Communes last breath was the launch of 10 interstellar colony ships towards the Gliese 581 system carrying the best mankind had to offer, intellectually and morally. This system had a technically inhabitable and human colonizable Super-Earth, Gliese 581d. After a brief but decisive conflict near Earth's orbit, where the outnumbered spaceplanes of Third Commune faced the sheer force of Global State the departure towards deep space was secured against the spaceplanes of Global State, and there was yet hope for a free mankind... The people of Solar Communes don't know how long the Third Commune has stood, although all realistic estimates point that they have never lasted to see the coming of 2121. It was a promise of all those who had the honor of embarking in such ships for their moral superiority and integrity. They have promised that one day they shall return and liberate Earth from such scourge... they shall never forget.

Solar Communes(2142 - Present)

Kardashev Era I(2170 - Present)

Solar Communes current epoch, the Era I began once the Confederation finally became a Type I civilization in the Kardashev Scale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale#Classifying_fictional_civilizations) after the construction of borehole deep pressure mines which extract thermal energy and minerals directly from Gliese 581d mantle, eventually increasing geometrically the industrial capability of the planet, also known as Glacius, into unforeseen levels, finally giving Solar Communes the resources needed to maintain and build space fleets, the first step for securing a chance against the never forgotten threat of the Global State, about twenty dot four light years away from them. The Sun itself has become darker and more dim... in a poetic rather than literal sense.

Readings from Sol have indicated a continual expansion of what is assumed to be the Global State forces towards the outer reaches, including the Kuiper Belt, and those readings are from what happened twenty years ago. It is estimated that by now Global State has become an interstellar fascist civilization by colonizing a close system, probably Alpha Centauri. The threat is slowly approaching them, however they can only watch what happened 20 years ago in Sol, and in a few more decades it is expected a major interstellar war between Solar Communes and the Global State shall inevitably happen... a war which shall decide the future of mankind...

God has a greater plan for everything, and the Enemy gives its last struggle in a battle, both spiritual and material, as the time for the decisive battle approaches. In our society, even those who do not believe in God have compassion and Himself in their hearts, calling him through unconditional acts of kindness, that is the reason why it functions, why the crowns of Earthly governments, prisons and violence are only dark memories of the past. We are the precedent of the thousand years Golden Age of love and compassion under the spiritual reign of the Lord in our hearts and the complete absence of Earthly powers. Also blessed be those who seek the Lord, even if involuntarily, through compassion and unconditional aid to its brothers and sisters regardless of lacking in faith, for their legitimately from heart aid is not conditioned by pride, promises of Heaven or threats of Hell, and their struggle and goodness shall be the light that shall defeat the darkness that had covered our cradle. Also blessed be those who stood against the tribulations in Earth, who putted their freedoms and souls ahead of their own survival. For these shall reach the kingdom of Heaven. Statement from the Christian communes

I think this poem will describe the South African Republic's history:

Since the wagon wheels went North,
It has been many years.
The country has been built and run,
by hardy pioneers.
We fought the Matabele,
and many a hardship too.
With flag unfurled, we tell the world and sing this song to you.

You can call us rebels, and you can call us rogues.
But were founded by an Englishman by the name of Cecil Rhodes.
We fought for this dear land of ours and many men did die.
But we may have to fight again, for this is UDI.

In time of need we stood behind the mother land.
Our soldiers fought in Flanders fields, and in the desert sand.
In steaming jungles we have fought the common enemy,
but these things have been forgotten since the days of victory.

And you can call us rebels, and you can call us rogues.
But we were founded by an Englishman by the name of Cecil Rhodes.
We fought for this dear land of ours and many men did die.
But we may have to fight again, for this is UDI.

And now the sun is setting upon a great regieme.
The children are all leaving the nest where they were weened.
And now the youngest child has left the parent and the home,
and it can prove its worth if it's only left alone.

And you can call us rebels, and you can call us rogues.
But we were founded by an Englishman by the name of Cecil Rhodes.
We fought for this dear land of ours and many men did die.
But we may have to fight again, for this is UDI.

Why are you singing a Rhodesian nationalist song if you're South Africa?

Rofl, never mind the fact that it is a song (which I happen to have on mp3), rather than a poem.

A very good question, one which can be easily answered.

My country is more based upon the assumption that Rhodesia and South Africa merged into one nation. I like Rhodesia an awful lot so I use alot of Rhodesian songs, poems, and other things in my nation. I had relatives who fought in both the South African Defense Force and the Rhodesian Armies, so its pretty easily thought why I'd love both of them quite a bit :)

And yes I'm quite aware that its a song not a poem, I have it on my Ipod. Dunno why I typed that.

Tolvan

OOC: I have a pretty detailed NSWiki, but it's down and I'm planning a serious retcon of my history anyway so here's basics.

Name: Commonwealth of Tolvan
Population: 2 billion (for RP purposes)
Location: a series of nearly 1,000 islands clustered mostly in the South Pacific, however there is the Mauritan chain in the Indian Ocean, the Culver Islands near Antartica, plus several atolls and islands throughout the Pacific

History:
Tolvan was first populated by the Te (Polynesians) around 500 BC. In 1602 the first expedition from the Empire of Ocion (a former nation of mine) discovered the current Tolvanic Home Islands (where RL Australia and New Zealand are located) and a massive colonization effort was launched. The Te were were left alone at first as they were quite benign, but eventually Te rebels began to fight back against Ocic expansion. As a result the Ocic Army and the Tolvanic Militia crushed the Te in the Nine Week War, which saw nearly 40% of the Te population killed and the rest forced into slavery. In the years that followed the Te culture was all but destroyed.

In the early 1700s a massive influx of Asian migrant workers (mostly Chinese but large numbers of Japanese and Koreans emigrated as well) swelled the Tolvanic population to almost half that of the Ocic Homeland itself.

After years of chafing under Ocic rule the Tolvanic islands declared independence in 1752. After six years of fighting the Tolvanic Army routed the Ocic Army at the Battle of Wong Creek. Tolvan was granted full independence in 1758.

Twenty-four years later the Ocic Mauritan Islands declared independence launched their own revolution. The Ocic Navy was dispatched to land troops to crush the revolt before it spread beyond Tilk Island, but was intercepted by the Tolvanic Indian Ocean Squadron. In the ensuing Battle of North Gale, the Ocic Navy lost thirty-two ships to just nine Tolvanic vessels and was forced to withdraw from the Indian Ocean and South Pacific entirely.

The Mauritan Islands subsequently joined the Commonwealth.

In the ensuing years Tolvan annexed the Culver Islands as staging ground for fishing the Southern Sea and alter to service the massive Southern Sea Oilfields.

Government:
Tolvan is a Constitutional Republic. The government consists of the unicameral Parliament (1,000 members), a directly elected executive (known as the Prime Minister), and a seven member Supreme Cort (appointed by the Prime Minister and confirmed by Parliament). The Comonwealth is divided into seventy-five provinces, most the day to day matters of governance are run at the Provincial level, the national government is tasked primarily with defence, foreign affairs, managing trade and commerce, and education. Though all elections are free, virtually all elected positions (85% of Parliament and most other offices) are held by the Conservative Party.

Military:
Tolvan's military is small relative to its size, but by virtue of the massive Tolvanic economy is very well funded. It is equipped with state of the art equipment and its personnel are widely regarded as among the best trained in the world. It consists of four branches; the Army (3 million personnel), Navy (1.8 million personnel), Air Force (1.05 million personnel) and Marine Corps (600,000 personnnel) as well as the Coastal Patrol (400,000 personnel).
