Trivalvia
31-01-2008, 23:30
Since I.I. has been the forum I've been most visible in, I figure this is perhaps the best venue to make this announcement. Effective Feburary 1st, I will no longer be taking part in NationStates.
Nobody's fault really; I've had some fun, had some troubles, and overall was starting to get the hang of RPing as well as proper nation/army management and weapon design. But real life has gotten me for good this time. I'm currently working the equivilent of three jobs - one of which is freelance and which I hope to make into my career and primary source of income. Suffice it to say, I need to slim down my schedule considerably to take on the workload, and online gaming - in all of its forms - fell under the category of "instant weight loss".
This is not a decision I'm making lightly; I've thought about this a lot over the past week, and I think it's time.
So a few words of thanks:
TWSP, though we've butted heads more often recently than at the start, you helped me when I first came to this community in 2006. Thanks for giving me some needed advice and being a good friend and neighbor.
Thanks also to the various players who helped to form the Nova Europa Alliance and the Nova Europa region. It was an interesting little experiment and I hope that it will continue to survive and grow. You certainly have some good RPers in the group - shoutouts to Naasha, Siriusa, Ezaltia, and SaintB. For others in the region, and for those who departed for one reason or another, shoutouts to Wanderjar, TPF, Tigerlan, and Maldorians - you certainly spiced things up, and if I have one regret, it's that I won't have the chance to fight against - or alongside - you in any future conflict RP.
Same goes to Novacom, TSS, Clandonia Prime, and Doomingsland. You might have occupied the roles of "evil empires" from my IC perspective but it was still a pleasure to RP with you at one time or another. I just wish our last RP was more enjoyable toward the end, but, well...
I'm sure I'm forgetting others who've given advice either here or in the NS Draftroom. Macabees, V10, Sumer - you're all designer marvels; thanks for poking holes in my designs and then suggesting ways I could fix them. Antigr, Alversia, and Halbergardia(sp?), thanks for your contributions in my "A Very Trivalvian Revolution" RP - it would not have been the same without you.
To anyone else I may have missed, and to the NS community at large; thanks for a most interesting time. A tip of the hat to those no longer with us; Ackistan and Great Nari especially, as both had some key roles in my earlier development. Whether those players will return or not is an open question; if they do, pass on my salute to them, 'kay?
Now to the nitty-gritty: I'll be placing Trivalvia in "vacation mode" and handing off the username and password to TWSP and Naasha; you can decide how you want things to go from here on out. I'll TG contact info, and over the next week I can e-mail over all of the relevant reference information I have and answer any questions you two might have.
As the Bard put it, parting is such sweet sorrow. Maybe, years hence when I can finally kick my day job, I may be able to return. Until then, play nice, have fun, and try to keep from nuking my backyard. :D
Until that day, I remain,
The skinny guy behind Trivalvia,
Andrew Crisp
