I started thinking one day when reading the International Incidents page... Sometimes, especially in FT threads, we talk about energy sources or materials we have made up. Materials that are more resilient to blaster fire, or energy sources that power mighty warfleets or futuristic utopias. I started wondering about that once, and thought we might actually have a list of these various substances for common use.

Basically this will be a thread on these substances of the past, present or future. For now I will list them here, under headings of Fantasy, Modern Tech and Future Tech. If this thread proves popular, I will merely start to link the various substances to the answers on this thread.

So... If you have a material that is stronger, better, lighter or otherwise superior, let us know. If you've found a new source of energy, let us know. Or if somewhere under a certain mountain range lies a horde of magical crystals, let us know.

NOTE: A substance marked with * is hotlinked.

Precious Ores:
Adamantite: A precious ore needed in the creation of adamantium.
Mythril: A rare and highly valuble substance, more precious than gold or silver. Like silver, but much shiner, Mythril is highly resiliant, and some say, naturally enchanted with magic. No one knows, but it is true that anything made with Mythril seems to be magically better than anything made with any other metal, and there have been some recorded cases when an object made of mythril had its own unique enchantments, without the assistance of any spellcaster.

Compounds:
Adamantium: An extremely hard and durable metal, a compound of steel and processed adamantite. Used in armour and weaponry.

Modern Tech

Precious Ores and Other Elements:
Adamantite: A precious ore needed in the creation of adamantium.
Bismuth: A heavy, brittle, white poor metal (Bi, atomic number 83). Lowest melting point (for metals) other than mercury, heaviest non-radioactive material, completely non-toxic. Used to replace lead in cosmetics, packaging etc.
*Hadnium: (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13415719#post13415719) A superdense stable solid synthetic transition metal which atomic properties are not shared by any period in the previously known periodic table of elements. It was very recently discovered, classified as a Group 8, Period 8 element with 126 protons on its nucleus and thus atomic number 126. It is in the same group of Iron and Hassium, with 6 electrons in its valence shell and in an entirely new period. It is somewhat more resistant than known metals regarding its primary known alloy, but the main feature of such alloy is its superior heat resistance and refractive and reflective properties comparable to those of ice or mirror. No means to produce such synthetic metal are known by Solar Communes currently. However, once a method is developed, it shall become a very effective alloy for the creation of starship armors highly resistant against directed energy weapons.
Xi+: Currently a theoretical particle, that causes high levels of entanglement in particles nearby to other particles nearit. The location in both space, time and multiverse are relevant to levels of electromagnetic and weak nuclear force affected the particle. Theoretical usages: time travel, teleportation, dimensional travel.

Compounds:
Adamantium: An extremely hard and durable metal, a compound of steel and processed adamantite. Used in vehicle armour and space technology for shielding due to its resistance to heat and radiation.

Energy Sources:
Magnetic Polarity Drive: Generating energy by placing magnets with the same polarity in a high-strenght lexan glass main structure. The central magnet's spinning creates energy as it cannot escape its confinement, surrounded by same-polarity magnets.

Lunarite: A variety of porous rock found on the Earth's moon and on the northern pole of Mars, and theoretically on other similar celestial bodies. This low-grade ore traps oxygen inside it's multi-faceted make-up, which is released when the ore is exposed to heat. Used in providing a temporary source of oxygen for nascent planetary space stations.
Youngarium: Dense metal found in the center of massive stars.Generates a negative graviton pulse wave, equal to or even twice as great as the force applied to it. Application: Anti-grav technology.

Compounds:
Adamantium: An extremely hard and durable metal, a compound of steel and processed adamantite. Used in vehicle armour and space technology for shielding due to its resistance to heat and radiation.
*Beta Carbon Nitricide: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_carbon_nitride) Beta carbon nitride (β-C3N4) is a material harder than diamond on the Mohs scale. The carbon and nitrogen atoms form a particularly short and strong bond in a stable crystal lattice in a ratio of 1:1.3. A very rare substance in nature (mainly found in small deposits in high-gravity worlds), mainly produced synthetically.
Plasteel: A material that combines acrylic polymers and metal alloys. Plasteel retains the elastic strength of plastics while benefiting from the strength and heat resistance of metal. It, however, is not a miracle substance. Pressed thin enough for comfortable armor, plasteel will not impede a blaster bolt, or even an old-fashioned slug. Plasteel is most commonly used in armor, spaceship components and construction.

Energy Sources:
Magnetic Polarity Drive: See Modern Tech entry.
Matter-Antimatter Annihilation: Controlled release of antimatter from vacuum, thus causing a reaction with matter and releasing energy. Also used in anti-matter explosives. Highly unstable, requiring constant attention.

Gases:

Medicinal Substances:
Biomimetic Gel: A gooey, off-white substance used in the treatment of serious physical trauma. When applied on a stable wound, the gel reacts with the host's DNA, re-knitting the destroyed tissue in a matter of hours. Also used in cloning.

Drugs:
DT42: Organic mineral found only in the corona and tail ejection of Haley's comet. This rust-colored mineral, when distilled with alcohol, produces an increase in the neurotransmitters of the brain (eg. melatonin, glutamate and dopamine). These chemical messengers link and coordinate cellular activity. This creates new pathways in the unused or (sleeping) part of the brain. This may cause significant rise in IQ, hand-eye coordination or reaction time, without any negative physical signs or symptoms. However, long-term effects are still unknown.
Mo-Vee: A new organicly produced drug similar in structure and properties to caffeine that can relieve sleep deprivation and the effects of fatigue. Comes from the genetically engineered Cacoa plants. Recently developed by the military of Greater Headhunters, this drug is still under intense testing by the GH-FDA. Gives the user a high of aproximatly six to eight hours although its effects wear off during the last three hours. Side effects include, but not limited to, high blood pressure, sleep deprivation, addiction, slight visual impairment, immuno-deficiancy, hyper activity and uncontrollable drooling. Longterm users may experiance impotency, sight degradation, twitches in leg and eye muscles, hand muscle and foot muscle spasms and sudden blackouts.

Miscellaneous:
Neutronium: A form of neutron degenerate matter, neutronium occurs naturally inside of neutron stars, and masses roughly 1x10^17 kilograms per cubic meter. In comparison, a cubic meter of iron weighs approximately 1x10^4 kilograms. Neutronium, while quite volatile, is highly sought after by various civilizations for use as a reactant in annihilation plants of varying forms. While extraordinarily dense, it is relatively useless as armor, given it's tendencies to spontaneously explode if not properly contained.

Hobbeebia uses Unlimited Zero point energy systems, Solid Photocells ( living light), and for armor he uses something called Techtainium (FT)

The Black Agents have a metal called Saberainium (MT/PMT)

And I am developing a Magnetic Polority drive.

Well I can about the Magnetic polarity drive...

The drive works by setting up a system of useable modern day parts of high strength lexan glass as the main structure, the source of generator rotation is shaped magnets the are placed with the same polarities facing each others with the system structure it is impossible for the magnets to push away from one another do to restraints, the only way for the inner magnet to get away from the outer magents is to spin in hopes that it will get away. But becasue it is unable to move in any other direction other then spin it produces power.

Antimatter, both as an energy source and as a weapon. According to our current scientific knowledge, there is NO reaction more efficient than matter-antimatter annihilation. Too bad that we can't yet produce large amounts of antimatter, but I'm sure that some day we can.

In all honesty... with the lack of sentence structure and spelling errors I'm not sure if I got this right...

Cut me some slack as well. I do not speak English as my first language. But... my main beef was that I didn't understand how this thing could probably work. Please 'translate', if you will.

I sorta have a suggestion for this, though it doesn't count as an element as such...

Name: Xi+
Type: Particle
Time Period: Modern-Future tech
Properties: Cause high levels of entanglement in particles nearby to other particles near a Xi+ particle. The location in both space, time and multiverse are relevant to levels of electromagnetic and weak nuclear force affected the particle.
