Description
The L45 is a short recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol with a reinforced polymer frame. The barrel is locked to the slide by a single large lug that engages the ejection port. Locking and unlocking of the barrel is achieved by a cam shaped lug that engages a steel insert inside the frame. Recoil is managed by a dual buffer recoil spring that slows the recoil kick of the slide down to acceptable levels. The trigger is of DA/SA type with the first shot being double action and all following shots being single action. The initial heavy double action trigger pull can be circumnavigated by cocking back the hammer before firing the first shot.
Other features include Polygonal rifling, ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release loaded chamber indicator to the left of the hammer and frame mounted accessory rail.
Safeties
The L45 has three safeties the first being the firing pin safety that stops the pin from hitting the primer unless the trigger is pulled. The second is the manual safety which is a switch mounted on both sides to the rear of the frame. With the switch pointing downwards the L45 is in safe mode but when the switch is pointing towards the muzzle the L45 is in fire mode. The third safety is the grip safety which prevents the weapon from being fired unless the user has a good grip on the weapon.
This in a nutshell means that the L45 can be safely carried in condition one.
Chamberings
Currently the L45 is available in
10mm Commonwealth
9mm Parabellum

Magazines

Sights
The standard iron sights on the L45 are of Patridge type with tritium inserts. The sights are dove tailed in to the slide so that they can be easily replaced with other types of sight.
Combat Optics developed the RS-34M Reflex sight for the L45 it fits into the dove tail slot for the rear sight. Specially toughened the sight can take up to 500gs of recoil with no damage. The only modification that is required is a slightly stronger return spring to account for the increased slide weight. The battery pack is rated for 2 years without needing to be recharged. At the bottom of the lens there are two small tritium inserts that serve as back up iron sights should the sight be broken.

Production Rights are not available in the normal sense but if you need a lot of these weapons and will need a maintenance and spare parts supply that is on your soil you have two options
option one
Commonwealth Arms will outsource a large portion of the manufacture to companies in your country. This would mean that the barrel, slide and magazine could be made by whichever manufacturers you wanted. this would speed up delivery due to CA only having to construct the frame and trigger group. final assembly would be in your country
option two
Commonwealth Arms will set up a manufacturing and distribution devision in your country where final assembly will take place.
