Description

The L45 is a short recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol with a reinforced polymer frame. The barrel is locked to the slide by a single large lug that engages the ejection port. Locking and unlocking of the barrel is achieved by a cam shaped lug that engages a steel insert inside the frame. Recoil is managed by a dual buffer recoil spring that slows the recoil kick of the slide down to acceptable levels. The trigger is of DA/SA type with the first shot being double action and all following shots being single action. The initial heavy double action trigger pull can be circumnavigated by cocking back the hammer before firing the first shot.

Other features include Polygonal rifling, ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release loaded chamber indicator to the left of the hammer and frame mounted accessory rail.

Safeties

The L45 has three safeties the first being the firing pin safety that stops the pin from hitting the primer unless the trigger is pulled. The second is the manual safety which is a switch mounted on both sides to the rear of the frame. With the switch pointing downwards the L45 is in safe mode but when the switch is pointing towards the muzzle the L45 is in fire mode. The third safety is the grip safety which prevents the weapon from being fired unless the user has a good grip on the weapon.
This in a nutshell means that the L45 can be safely carried in condition one.

Chamberings
Currently the L45 is available in

10mm Commonwealth
9mm Parabellum
5.7mm
45. ACP

Magazines

Magazines for the L45 are made from impact resistant high strength polymer to reduce the chance of them breaking if they're dropped. Down each side of the magazines there are small windows that indicate how many rounds are in the magazine.

They come in four sizes

Standard
15 rounds 10mm Commonwealth
17 rounds 9mm parabellum
20 rounds 5.7mm
10 rounds 45. ACP

Compact(will only fit the L45 CS)
12 rounds 10mm Commonwealth
13 rounds 9mm parabellum
16 rounds 5.7mm
8 rounds 45. ACP

Extended
25 rounds 10mm Commonwealth
27 rounds 9mm parabellum
32 rounds 5.7mm
15 rounds 45. ACP

Reduced capacity
10 rounds maximum

Sights
The standard iron sights on the L45 are of Patridge type with tritium inserts. The sights are dove tailed in to the slide so that they can be easily replaced with other types of sight.

Combat Optics developed the RS-34M Reflex sight for the L45 it fits into the dove tail slot for the rear sight. Specially toughened the sight can take up to 500gs of recoil with no damage. The only modification that is required is a slightly stronger return spring to account for the increased slide weight. The battery pack is rated for 2 years without needing to be recharged. At the bottom of the lens there are two small tritium inserts that serve as back up iron sights should the sight be broken.

The tritium inserts can be seen either side of the small portion of the foresight that is visible through the lens just below the holographic targeting spot

Production Rights are not available in the normal sense but if you need a lot of these weapons and will need a maintenance and spare parts supply that is on your soil you have two options

option one
Commonwealth Arms will outsource a large portion of the manufacture to companies in your country. This would mean that the barrel, slide and magazine could be made by whichever manufacturers you wanted. this would speed up delivery due to CA only having to construct the frame and trigger group. final assembly would be in your country

option two
Commonwealth Arms will set up a manufacturing and distribution devision in your country where final assembly will take place.

Declaration of Interest

The Dictorial Republic would like to inquire regarding a large order within our own standard calibers of this fine pistol. As we have need for a replacement of the four different sidearms currently in use by various aspects of our defence and police forces. We require arms chambered for both our 10x25mm and 5x25mm pistol cartridges. Both rounds are roughly the same dimensions so we believe all that would be required would be barrel modifications.

Due to the large nature of this potential order we will be willing to set up several of our local pistol manufacture works to subcontract componants and provide final assembly locally.

The order, if we can be so accomodated, would stand at 500 million total units. Approexemely 180 million units to be chambered for the 5x25mm round and the rest for 10x25mm. Ideally all units could be interchanged as nessecary in the future by simple parts swaps.

If such an order can be accomodated then the L45 will be ordered for standard Sumerian issue under the designation SP-5A1 and Sp-5A2 for the 10x25mm and 5x25mm variants respectivly.

RE: L45

Mr Keller

In accordance with International Acquisitions directive 01/08, the Lyran Governmental Trade Department wishes to enquire as to the possibility of securing unlimited production rights or supervised domestic manufacturing authority to the L45 Tactical Sidearm.

Bereft of a competing system, the Protectorate is keen to fill this combatant niche which has, to this point, been satisfied on an individual level... a dubious situation at best.

Please let us know if this is possible, so we can continue, or seek other means of acquisition.

RE: L45

Commonwealth Arms can supply the Lyran military with L45s till facility's for Assembly in Lyras are setup. However with the Avalon facility currently filling the Sumer order and maintenance of L45s issued to Mistlinian armed forces. Initial L45s for testing, evaluation and if accepted initial low rate issue will have to come from our facility in the Paradise valleys. But after manufacturing facility's have been setup you will have complete control over maintenance and final production of L45s produced for issue to Lyran armed forces.

We hope that this proposition will fill you needs for a service sidearm.

Official Communiqué

Dear sir,

The Realm of Cotland is interested in procuring the L45 Tactical Sidearm chambered in 10x23mm Imperial (which we believe is very similar to your own 10x23mm Commonwealth), but wishes to make some evaluation of the weapon before we procure any substantial quantity of it. Therefore, we wish to procure a total of twenty (20) weapons for evaluation and trials. Pending the successful outcome of the trial, we are hereby declaring an intent to procure an initial batch of fifty thousand weapons, with an optional second batch of ten million weapons. Whether or not we will go through with this purchase will depend on the outcome of the trials.

We request that four magazines be provided with each weapon, and that we be provided with eight RS-34M sights for evaluation. We would also like to know whether or not the L45 can be fitted with a silencer.

The cost for the twenty L45s and eight RS-34Ms have been calculated to $8 768.00, which will be hand delivered in gold by the persons we dispatch to collect the weapons at your factory.

Thank you in advance.

RE: L45

Mr Keller

The terms outlined in your response are more than suitable to our needs. Construction of manufacturing facilities for the L45 will begin upon your confirmation of authorisation to manufacture. What will the purchase of domestic use production rights cost?

On a related note, are silencers available for the L45, or should I put a development request in to the Lyran Protectorate Research and Development Commission for its conception? If no such system exists, then we are willing to design one, and then sell it back to you for onsale to third parties.

Congruent to that, would you be interested in selling the L45, both individually and as a segment of wider force packages, under the auspices of Lyran Arms? You may find a wider audience for export, and we are willing to negotiate on the profit proportions from each sale, or similar arrangement.

The requested items have been prepared but we would prefer to be paid in cash because payment gold tends to annoy the accounting department.
Regarding your question all variants of the L45 have a drop in threaded barrel for the attachment of silencers

We acknowledge both sections of your prior communication. Sale shall begin, with an interim provisional 50/50 net profit split. Items sold will be those which run off Lyran production facilities, however, so as not to impede your domestic production efforts.

Procurement Order, Koninlijke Landmacht
- Mark Keller, Sales Division, Commonwealth Arms, Mistalinam
- Oberstleutnant Dieter Franck, Quartermaster-General's Aide, Royal Army of De Vliggenplaat

Salutations,

The 9x19mm Browning High-Power has seen quite a bit of use throughout the Landmacht and indeed the entirety of the Koninlijke Kriegsmacht. It is now time for a replacement, and while the military retains budgeting priority for this fiscal year, an exhaustive search has been conducted for the new service sidearm. Three weapons made it into the final selection, these being the L23, the Breyr 9.8 SAP No. 1, and your own L45.

Currently the L45 in 9x19mm has been selected as the new service weapon. It is preferable that you establish a manufacturing and distribution plant in the Plaatzer countryside, ideally one also capable of constructing the RS-43M Reflex optic.
