Battle for the Terag Star System

OOC : My first post, please forgive the noobness

IC :

For the past twenty-three years the Federation of Zalverine had been slowly building its space fleet from scratch. Late in the game for claiming planets, they were forced to journey to the outer fringes of space. For six months the souls of the 17th Task Force journyed into the darkness of space, searching for a suitable system that would become a new place to call home for furture colonists.

Enter the Terag System. A star system with thirteen planets, three with suitable atmospehers to sustain human life. Aside from that, the star was estimated at being several billion years old, but it had no signs for going nova for another three million years. On two of the non-habitable planets there were large reserves of gold, silver, titanium, and other metals that could make the Terag System a potential economic powerhouse and a vital strategic location for further expansion for whom ever controlled it. Admiral Jack Taylor could not pass up this oppurtunity to claim it in the name of Zalverine, especially since it was an island in a sea of lifeless worlds....

"Admiral, what are your orders sir?"

For the past three days Admiral Taylor had kept the 17th working around the clock on gathering every possible data on the Terag system. Everything was promising, all the Admiral had to do was simply give the order and more than a hundred ships would descend upon Terag to claim every piece of rock. There were no signs of previous explorers having been here, no sign of anyone having a claim to Terag, but the Admiral was still uncertain. He took a look at everyone on his bridge. Their tired expressions were waiting in earnest for him to make his decision. Their tired expressions each told a story of the past six months of being homesick, of endless patrols and scouting missions, seeking that perfect place so they could establish a base to then wait for the colonists to arrive. However, this system was just outside the reaches of several dominat powers in the region, and if they sent a msg home some unwanted eavesdroppers could pick it up and attempt to claim Terag as their own. But the Terag had enough minerals, gold, and silver to strengthen the Zalverine economy and make her a power to be reckoned with, Taylor could not pass this by.

"Ensign, send an encrypted msg to Station I-54."
"Yes Sir," the young Ensign replied and a shout of victory ranged through the command bridge of the Ritisia.
"Don't send any details about the system, just tell them we found Shangri-La."
The Ensign soluted and went off to the Comm station to relay the Admiral's orders. Taylor had to act quickly, after sending the young Ensign to carry out his first orders, he turned to his communications officers and bellowed his next commands above the cheers of everyone present on the bridge.

"Have the Lysithea Battlegroup take up positions bewteen the two gas giants, the Ragnar Battlegroup is to get in a geosynchronous orbit above Terag II, have the Ritisia Battlegroup establish a perimeter around the three habitable planets, and tell General Vince to have his Marines prepare for landing on all three of them."

In military fashion they saluted Taylor and went off to their assigned duties. Taylor breathed a sigh of relief as he watched his Task Force begin to split into their assigned groups and head to their designated positions, no unknown or hostile ships within range to pose a threat, but his gut told him that they would pay dearly for this system....
The Andermani

In fact, the price would be rather light. A battalion of Andermani Wyverns was using one of the planets for training and weapons testing, but they had no real claim to the system.

<Unknown ships detected, alot of them. I have a report going back to HQ immediately.>

<Major Khalen, get on the comm and try and contact these people. I don't want an incident over this, but it's best to let them know we're here.>

Greetings unknown vessels. For the last few years we have been using a desert portion of this planet as a proving ground for new weaponry and technologies. We are not making any sort of claim on this system, simply making you aware of our presence, and inviting one of your leaders to come planetside to speak with one of the Emperors representatives coming across from Anderman City momentarily.

Back in the Andermani Home system:

Hundreds of clerks and officers scurried through military headquarters, struggling to process the data on these new ships before anyone or anything was sent through a gate into what was effectively an unknown situation. Two ships were immediately dispatched to gather a small task force, in case of need. They had no real readings on unknown power levels, but a small taskforce of Andermani ships generally translated into an opposing fleet in terms of firepower, so 4 battleships and a screen seemed like a decent group. Now to just get them all together and have them ready if they were needed.

OOC: I have a very small number of very good ships and infantry. Hope this is long enough, I'm rushed getting ready to leave for work.

Taylor looked at his comms officer.

"What the hells going on?"

"Sir, there is some sort of interference from the atmosphere of the pla-"

"Well clear it up damn it!" Taylor then turned to his Intelligence Officer, and confided in a low tone," Who are these Andermans Lieutenant?"

"Sir, we have no record of them," the lieutenant went over his data, but nothing.

"ADMIRAL!" The ensign responsible for the comms station with the Lysithea Battlegroup yelled out in fear," Admiral Sabath reports that unknown warships are closing in fast from the Beta T21 Sector."

Taylor acted quickly with cat reflexes.

"All hands red alert, have the Ragnar Battlegroup get in position to intercept those ships," he shouted over his crew's chatter," tell Vince not to drop any Marines unto the Planet surface untill we know what we are dealing with, order the Lysithea to take up orbit above Terag V and send the Fifth and Eighth Mech Birgades to support the Ragnar Battlegroup."

The sounds of alarms, confused crew members, and officers shouting their orders filled every ship in Task Force 17. Taylor did not know his enemy, nor did he know it capabilities, for the first time in his long military service, the first time in thirty years, he was on the edge of his seat as the electromagnetic cannons of his fleet came online and missles being loaded into their tubes.

OOC: Part of a long-term storyline I'm starting. Basically, three of these 'guys' were genetically created by a now-vanished nation. One of them is a bodyguard for my primary characer (see Here) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=548019) . He knows that the others exist, but that's all. None of them remember their past. I'm introduing them in different threads, and will eventually tie it all together...
