Geography

Basic Info

Land Area: 3,593,902 Square miles.
Bordering Nations: Zamper (To the South) , Zoingo (To the North)
Region: Nova Emiran States

Greal is a gigantic nation with hundreds of cities all around Greal. The western coast is mostly flat, so most of Greal's ports are on the western coast. The North is mostly tundra and polar, even though there is a border with Zoingo in the north. The tallest mountains in Greal is in the Greal Horn Range in the North (The tallest mountain in Greal is Mount Yurt, at 26,786 feet high.). There are hundreds of peaks that are 25,000 feet high, or more.

Natural Resources, Weather, and Environmental issues

Greal has trillions of barrels of oil and natural gas. Gold and silver have gotten rare in recent years, so Greal has instead imported them. Greal has exported oil to half of the world. Lumber and coal are still being sound in the North where the weather usually hampers efforts to get coal. Iron ore is also getting rare in recent years.

Greal, since its very big, has weather from all over the world. There are occasional hurricanes in the south. there are blizzards in the north, and so on. Greal's colonies of grunt and Lasom have typhoon problems. Earthquakes also are deadly, since there are a few fault lines near major Greal cities.

The environment of Greal has suffered since Over a billion people are living in Greal. 95% of all Greal forests a hundred years ago have disappeared. Greal lumber companies want to cut down the trees in the north, but the Greal government put a ban on all logging in the north. Tropical rain forests in Greal have shrunk by 60% since 1970, which lead the Greal government to make the rain forests into a national park. The Greal Environmental Committee has banned all civilian gasoline vehicles, and instead introduced hybrid cars into Greal. Hydrogen cars have also become quite common in Greal.

Colonies

Greal has several colonies around the world, Grunt, Lasom, Greal Turkey, Relgo, and Watson island. 500 more million people populate these colonies.

History


Greal was empty for thousands of years and had a few natives, They fought for years against each other. Until the early 1700s, Greal was divided into city states and small nations, which fall fought each other. The leader of one nation, the [[Greals]], vowed to unite Greal. So he did. In 1747, Greal became the Republic of Greal. United. Everything was quiet until Zoingo appeared.

The Zoingo-Greal War

In the 1780s, a new country called Zoingo sprung up out of nowhere. The Greal government almost immediately criticized Zoingo for taking over some of Greal's claims over the Northern forests. Zoingo responded by taking over more land. Greal responded with war. The war begun in 1793........

Both sides were evenly matched. Greal and Zoingo fought a few small battles, but the battles turned to major ones after a Zoingo force of 10,000 slaughtered a whole camp of Greal troops. The Greal army responded by winning 3 battles in one week. But the Greal advance into Zoingo got held up by Zoingo troops. The war became a stalemate. In 1795, the Zoingo navy smashed the Greal navy in the battle of Womer Sea. The Greal army however overran the Zoingo city of Canalive city. Thousands of troops on both sides died. The last 10 years of the war became another stalemate. In 1808, the Greal President signed the treaty of Racklonfield with Zoingo, Greal generously gave back Zoingo its land it took and more land that was disputed before the war started. Half a million people on both sides had become casualties in a 15 year war.

The Peace Era (1808 to 1943)

The Republic of Greal entered a new age. Railroads were laid across the country in 1840. Greal expanded peacefully by acquiring land from Zamper and a few other nations. Sasha city became the capital of the Greal Republic in 1852. Immigrants from around the world came to Greal to claim gold in 1861 after gold was found in the rural east. But, the immigrants did not increase the Eastern Greal population by much. In the 1870s, the Greal military almost launched a overthrow of the Government, but the generals were persuaded not to. The "golden age" of Greal continued until 1943..............

On June 23, 1943, a group of Greal colonists exploring a island called Grunt off the coast of Greal was massacred by the Gruntians . At first, the Greal Government's response was do nothing, then a Greal cargo ship was bombed by Gruntian aircraft, so the Greal president declared war on the island. The island wasn't invaded until late 1944, before that, the Greal navy fought some small battles with the Gruntian navy. On October 13, 1944, 13,000 Greal troops landed on the southern part of Grunt and begun the ground war. The Greal army made extensive use of the new Jet fighters and some of the new jet bombers. The ground war went badly for both sides. But the Gruntian navy was wiped out in 1945 at the battle of Grunt Sea.

In 1946, Grunt city was taken after a 5h hour fight that killed half the Gruntian army, after that, the Gruntian army retreated to the city of Linn, where the Gruntian army was defeated in 1947. The last 6 years of the war involved Gruntian troops using guerrilla tactics. The remaining Gruntian troops surrendered in 1953, and the lone war was over.

Greal Election Rigging

(Greal annexed Lasom in 1961 as a colony.) In 1972, Scott Walker was elected president of Greal. But there were rumors that he rigged the election, which he denied. But during the period from 1972 to 1976, 500,000 people were arrested or killed. Scott Walker kept his rule of the country by rigging the elections of 1976 and 1978. In November of 1978, after Scott Walker won the Presidential election, a war began.......

Government troops watch out for Bill Watson's rebels


In November of 1978, a former Greal army colonel called Bill Watson had enough of Scott Walker's rule, he started a rebellion against the president. Bill Watson's army managed to take half of Greal in 6 months. Scott Walker kept his rule on the big cities, but people were flocking out of the country to live in Bill Watson's capital, Womer port.

The largest battle of the war was the battle of Juster Port. In April, 1980, 100,000 Government troops invaded the rebel occupied port, but Bill Watson personally lead his army into battle with then Government troops. Bill Watson crushed the army and sent panic throughout the Government. For another year, the war was mostly quiet, until the battle of Sasha in May 15, 1981, Bill Watson invaded Sasha city, and took it, he captured Scott Walker, and personally shot him in the public. The war was over, however, instead of finding democracy again, the Greal people were stuck with Bill Watson, who declared himself President of Greal.

The Second Peace Era

Unlike most Dictators, Bil Watson did not oppress his people. Instead, he rebuilt Greal and made it a powerful economy. From 1982- early 2007, it was known as the Second Peace Era.

The Year of events: 2007

Bill Watson died early in 2007, he was replaced by his "aggressive" son, Mel Watson. Mel Watson almost got himself involved in a war with Atopiana. he established ties with North Calaveras, which remains to this day, a Greal ally. However, he provoked a rebellion in Greal, the rebels were calling for democracy, which was bad, he managed to crush the rebellion, but his military almost got wiped out by the The PeoplesFreedom army. In June, his army went around the world, trying to help other nations crush their rebellions. In August, Mel Watson died in a plane crash, and his daughter, Sarah Watson succeeded him.

On August 15, North Calaveras was wiped out by 26,000 ICBMs, shocking Greal and making the president prepare for a war, luckily for Greal, the nation that launched the ICBMs, British Londinium, did not invade. Greal settled back into peace. In September, the president of Greal amrried Ingram Hasley from Cazelia and, a nation called Mokastana, shot down a Greal air transport, killing all its crew, sparking protests against foreigners in Greal, the result was 200,000 Protesters died after Greal tanks crushed the protests. September was also uneasily for the rest of the world. In October, It was another peaceful month. However, in November, some nations called for democracy in Greal., which almost sparked a war. But a Secret government agency called the Red Skull overthrew the government and started a long civil war that killed millions. It finally ended in late December.

2008

The First Presidential Election was launched in 2008, but Sarah Watson won by a narrow margin. Then, the PeoplesFreedom invaded and replaced Sarah Watson with a new government. The new president that was elected is Martin Watson, a cousin of Sarah Watson, but a supporter of Democracy.

The PeoplesFreedom pulled out in March after an agreement between Greal and the TPFians that the TPFians will be able to keep 1 million square miles of Greal land.

The Greal army has currently 30 million men, including logistics personnel. Though some of these numbers are in reserve.

Greal Air Force
The Greal air force has 10 million personnel. The Greal military regards that the air superiority is the most important factor in a war, so there are currently thousands of aircraft around Greal.

Greal navy
The Greal navy has 10 million personnel, since Greal has a East and Western coast, it needs a massive navy to protect the coast. the largest Greal naval base is Womer port.

Greal militia
If a full scale invasion of Greal commences, the Greal militia will be mobilized to also fight them. There are roughly less then 100 million people in the militia.

History: Sarah Watson is the daughter of Mel Watson and granddaughter of Bill Watson. She was raised in Womer port and was put into Military School by her father, then she joined the special ops. She recently became president after her father died in a plane crash. She has publicly confirmed that she is pregnant. She resigned recently and late became CEO of the Mela Inc.

Hair: Dark Brown
Occupation: CEO of GRANT Inc.
Wife: Carol Riddle
History: Will Riddle became a Foreign Minister in 2006, he kept that position until 2008, when he became president fro a brief term. Martin Watson became president and Will Riddle became the CEO of GRANT Inc.

Cough, reference to Taiwan, heh. On the note of geography, you may wish to provide a map for a reference. Everything else seems fine. Military appears a bit large, though you do have the funding for it...manpower may be an issue, though.

A quick technical question about your body armor. If it's Kevlar, the bullet wouldn't deflect, it would hit the body armor and can be pulled from the armor. It'll leave a slight bruise.
If your using some sort of metal armor, the shots would eitheir bounce off or flatten once they hit it, depending what metal is being used.

Oh, and is Martin Watson Sarah's brother?

Small ceramic plates flatten the bullet, but a large ceramic "trauma plate" can only be hit a few times before shattering. That is why "Dragonskin" works.
