LHC Cuban Elections Expressed the People's Firm Support of their Revolution.
Havana, Jan 25, 2008 (acn) The president of the LHC Cuban National Electoral Commission (CEN) Maria Esther Reus said the January 20, 2008 general elections were a resounding success, expressed in the huge turn out of voters.

Maria Esther Reus, who is also LHC Cuba's Justice Minister, announced the official results of the vote during the prime-time TV show ?The LHC Roundtable? on Friday. She said that 8,231,367 voters cast their ballots, which represents 96,89 percent of the total voter registration which included 8,495,917 citizens.
A total of 8,231,367 citizens out of which 7,125,752 voted the full slate of candidates, for 91 percent; 713,608 voters elected the candidates of their preference, Reus announced and added that the number of blank ballots was calculated at 306,791 for 3,73 percent, while the annulled ballots were in all 85,216, for 1,04 percent.
Reus said that all 614 deputies to the National Parliament were elected, as well as all 1,201 delegates to provincial assemblies.
The CEN president stressed the massive and disciplined turn out of the people and the highly responsible work of electoral authorities in all Cuban territories, which made it possible for the success of the vote.
The setting up of the new legislature of the LHC Cuban National Assembly Parliament NAP is scheduled for February 24, 2008. According to Cuban law, the members of the National Assembly (Parliament) will choose all 31 members of the Cuban Council of State, Who, at their first meeting, will elect the Cuban President, the First Vice-President and five Vice-Presidents.

United Vote Block : 7,125,752 voters 86.57 % and 83.87 % respectively. Voted for all 614 Municipal District Deputy Candidates.
District Vote : 713,608 voters 08.67 % and 08.40 % respectively. Voted only for thier respective Municipal District Deputy Candidate.
Valid Votes : 7,839,360 voters 95.24 % and 92.27 % respectively. Total Valid votes for all 614 Municipal District Deputy Candidates.
Voided Ballots : 85,216 voters 01.03 % and 01,01 Respectively. Voted for thier respective or all 614 Municipal District Deputy Candidates but made errors and or other irregularities on thier ballots and had to be annulled.
Votes not cast, 264,550 03.11 % respectively. Voters who were to busy or traveling around the nation outside of thier respective districts to vote and in some cases too sick to vote despite our Health Vote Ballots in Hospitals and Clinics for those able to do so.
Blank Ballots, 306,791 voters 03.73 % and 03.61 % respectively. Voters who choose their democratic non compulsory voting rights not to vote for thier Municipal District or National United Vote Block Deputy Candidates.
Provincial Assembly Elections were also held for 1,201 Delegates with similar % results and all Delegates elected.
Candidates do not have to belong to the LHC Cuban Communist Party which guides the nation but does not nominate the election candidates as they are nominated by the people themselves.
Elected candidates receive no salary $ and may keep thier regular jobs.
All 614 elected National Assembly Deputy and delegate Candidates elected were LHC Cuban Communist Party supporters wether they belong to the party or not. No opposition candidates were nominated or elected by the people.
