The Guardians (Open/Sign-Up)

Kulikovia
27-01-2008, 16:29
Alright, I'm trying to get together a superhero rp. Now, there's alot of superhero rps that pop up, people sign-up, and they fizzle out. That will not be the case for this one if I have anything to say about it. I always try to bring quality character rps to NS. If you're interested, sign-up here. This rp is going to be a series of smaller arcs as well as a larger plot arc. Each player will have their own story, with the stories intermingling into the larger plot. You are pretty much free to do what you will, there's alot of freedom of creativity in this rp.

Now, this rp will be based off of the normal superhero stories, characters, as well as The Watchmen for inspiration. Superpowers are welcomed. You can be a superhero, supervillain, vigilante, assasin, investigator, government agent, or whatever you can think of.

The plot is as follows: For the past years, superheros and masked vigilantes have managed to stave off disaster time and time again. Crime is at an all time low, citizens are safe to walk the streets, while the criminals cower in fear. As society slips into this safe, complacent atmosphere, questions are asked. Do we still need The Guardians? What will they do with their super human powers? Questions turned into demands, demands turned into action, action resulted in legislation passed by the U.S. Congress as well as the United Nations. This legislation forced masked vigilantes to retire and for superheros to register themselves. Of course, a storm of controversy followed, the right of privacy, and other issues. The Guardians felt that they were no longer needed in a safe society. Naturally, all good things come to an end. A new breed of villains are emerging. A shadowy organization moves in the darkness, influencing world events, using super villains and mercenaries to accomplish their goals. Soon, a neferious plot is revealed with global implications. The stakes are high and the race is on through an epic journey of redemption, action, and tragedy. Will the forces of evil prevail? Or will The Guardians rise up once again and save the world?

OOC: Super powers are allowed, but no off the wall I'M INVINCIBLE! DIE AT THE HANDS OF MY INVINCIBILITY!!! Kind of powers.

My Characters:

Name: Ivan Zemsky
Alias: Red Shadow
Age: 35
Height: 6ft
Weight: 200lbs
Hair: black, trimmed beard
Eyes: Gray
History: Born in Kulikovia, Ivan came from a wealthy family. His father built and managed Zemsky Industries, a powerful company that managed to evade the strict economic laws of Socialist Kulikovia, mainly through bribery and other dealings. Ivan was a gifted student and athlete with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, becoming a jack of all trades. When he became old enough, he took over as the president of Zemsky Industries and began to regear their focus on heavy arms manufacturing, experimental technologies, and other sciences. He is a powerful man who's influence stretches across the globe. Suspicions raise due to his obsecion with famous leaders such as Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Boneparte, Alexander the Great, and even Hitler. He is egotystic and a megalomaniac. Some say Zemsky Industries is not what it seems...
Abilities: Zemsky has no powers other than being in peak physical condition, and a great mind.

Name: Classified
Alias: Scarlet
Age: 32
Height: 5'10''
Weight: 132lbs
Hair: Black, medium length
Eyes: Green
History: Little is known about Scarlet. Her identity and origins are a closely guarded secret by highly powerful people within the Kulikovian government. It is rumored that she is a government sanctioned super heroine. Others claim she is just an assasin, working as a double agent. What is for certain is that she is highly skilled.
Abilities: Regenative powers as well as heightened senses/reflexes and strength.
Apperance: Scarlet wears all black, wearing a black eye patch for unknown reasons. She wears a small scarlet rose on her and leaves one at every scene she is involved in.

I am interested (always am in superhero-type stuff, it'd be nice to get in on the ground floor here), but how exactly is this going to be different to the others that have come and gone? Also, can we have it just be in regular Earth? Trying to rationalise a globe with RL and NS nations makes me cross-eyed.

We get out of it what we put into it. This rp of course will have a serious tone, but be light hearted at times. This mysterious organization will be recruiting supervillains and influencing world leaders and events, weakening the world's ability to resist, as well as killing off heros.

If we each put our best into this rp, then it will become something great. What are you looking for?
McPsychoville
27-01-2008, 16:43
You didn't really answer my question. How are you, as the creator of this, going to ensure that it's going to be different and that it's not going to fizzle out?
Kulikovia

I am going to put all my energies on NS into ensuring it stays afloat. Like I said before, my will is only so much. If everyone puts in their best, then it will be a good rp. If everyone only puts a mediocre attempt, then it will be a mediocre rp. I have some twists and turns in store for the rp to make it interesting. It's going to be very character based.

Why other superhero rps fail is because they don't have much of a plot figured out. I have a plot and an outline for how the rp should flow. This rp is going to be a series of smaller arcs as well as a larger plot arc. Each player will have their own story, with the stories intermingling into the larger plot. You are pretty much free to do what you will, there's alot of freedom of creativity in this rp.

Name: Yuri Doloshisky
Alias: Hit-Man
Age: 32
Height: 5’11
Weight: 178 Ib
Hair: Black, military cut..
Eyes: Green
History: Yuri Doloshisky is an ex-special forces operative that used to serve as member in the Imperial Stosstruppen. (Shock Troops) In the service of the Holy Imperium of Deatharon, Yuri had to commit a lot of atrocious actions in his highly dangerous career, He also gained experience in several necessary skills ranging from assassinations, to deep cover infiltrations, and even international espionage. Yuri proved to be reliable and even better, extremely good at his job. This fact did not sit well, with Yuri’s superiors whom believed that the ruthless Yuri would try and use the trade secrets he learned to go into the private sector as a mercenary. The Imperial Military did not want someone that highly skilled to become a mercenary, and decided on a way to stop this event from happening….

The Imperial Military decided to get rid of Yuri and the threat he could become by ordering an assassin from Imperial Intelligence to get rid of him in the jungles of the eastern territory of the Imperium. The assassin was given the cover as Yuri’s new teammate to replace a fallen comrade in the eastern jungles of the Deatharoni continent.

The assassin was successfully in his mission up to a point, and plugged Yuri with several rounds of his MK-23 silenced pistol at point blank range. Yuri’s team however riddled the assassin with bullets and took their boss to a doctor whom experimented on Yuri and removed the wounded flesh with machine parts.

This transformation turned Yuri into Hit-Man the infamous mercenary and killer for hire that does not question whom hires him but demands his payment all the same…
Gaeltach

I'll bite. Haven't ventured into II since my earliest NS days. No time like the present to broaden, eh?

Name: Victoria Scott
Alias: Phantom
Age: 26
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 130 lbs
Hair: Black, chin length
Eyes: blue

History: "Tory" got her start as a cat burglar in Gaeltach's capital city of Kilasser. She was an orphan from somewhere across the northern border. Nationalism being what it is in Gaeltach, no one wanted a foreign baby, so she spent her childhood as a ward of the state. A typical example of the mild neglect shown to "unadoptable" children, she was often isolated from the other children. Isolation led to quiet anger, which fueled her drive to escape the institution. By morning she was almost always caught and returned, but it proved good practice to sharpen her skills. She was subjected to psychological testing and prescribed medicine intended to calm her. As it turned out, they had unanticipated and unusual effects...

Just before her 17th birthday she escaped and this time, was not caught. She spent a few years on the streets, stealing at first to survive, later to turn a profit. Eventually a small-time crime syndicate noticed her skill - after they caught her attempting to steal from their headquarters. Rather than kill her outright, they enlisted her help as an assassin. Her years of experience with cat burglary made her an expert at infiltration and dispatching marks up close and personal... and steal a few items along the way. The string of assassinations were clearly linked, but authorities didn't have the first clue who or what was responsible. For all they knew, it might as well have been a ghost. And thus was born her street name. When the crime ring was finally exposed by Gaelic police, she left Gaeltach to try her hand someplace new. Afterall.. it was a big world out there.

(If you're approving powers with this, I'm basing her slightly on X-Men's Red Witch. She can't stop another person with powers from using them, but she can cause them not to work the way they're supposed to. No effect on normal people.)

Bio
Caster Oblivion was born in the Motherland Province of Drekamythia. Having been grown and accustomed to Imperial rule and law, he attended the Drekamythian School of Imperial Academics. Graduating at the age of twenty-two only after five years, a feat in the Empire-Province, he went on for a degree in Politics. One year later, he joined the Imperial Government as Chief of Internal Republic Relations. Therein after, he was assigned to the duty of Chief of Foreign Relations and Activities in the Republic Government.

As an unexpected twist, the Motherland (NS MT Earth bound) and the Galactic Republic (NS FT) have the same Chief of Foreign Affairs position. Keeping tabs on both relations has been a restless and tiring endeavor for Caster. In his free time, he enjoys pushing the edge of thrill seeking whenever possible. He is said to have explained it helps him relieve the stress of the job.

Being Chief of Foreign Affairs and Activities surprisingly isn't an active job. Despite hard definitions on the position, Anagonia as a hole doesn't do much talking in the area of diplomacy anymore. His only obstacles are for the Motherlands department of relations, in which he spends most of his time. So it's not surprising to note that he has a condo on the Drekamythian Cost he calls home. As of late, no need for his skills are required in the Galactic scene. Therefore, he pushes himself to aid the Executive Government of the Motherland of Anagonia as much as possible.

There is also a darker side to his position. Unknown to most politicians and high-ranking personnel in the United Republic, he serves as a Secret Agent for the Republic Intelligence Agency. His knowledge of international relations and politics makes him an invaluable asset in the Secret War against the forces of evil.

Confusingly, Anagonia itself has no super heroes. It relies entirely on the might and will of its armed forces and secret agents. This makes for an interesting gaming plan for the mighty Republics fight against the dark forces that, undeniably, want to take hold of its vast natural and unnatural resources.

At the beginning of his career some twenty years ago, Caster Oblivion came upon the Republic Secret Project, codenamed "Initiative". His probing did not go on blind eyes to the Intelligence agency. For six years the RIA watched and observed Caster's lifestyle. His interest in weapons, his skills in martial arts, his heavy interest in thrill seeking, and his diplomatic and political skills. It was at the age of twenty-nine that Caster was secretly introduced to the Initiative project, and asked to lead it after some heavy military training.

Two years later, after extensive training and one actual operation in a classified country, he was given the position. With no one to actually lead, three more years of a lone-agent role passed. Finally, more candidates were found, and thereafter accepted by Caster who was in dire need of help at the time.

Anagonia was not blind to the dimming interest in the actual Super-Heros that helped bring in the golden age of peace. A more active approach by the Secret Government was needed to assure the continued prosperity of the land and its people. Now, at the age of Forty-Three, Caster continues to enjoy his public lifestyle while secretly indulging in the Initiatives ongoing missions against the forces of darkness. Having over ten-thousand hours under his belt in Initiative Operations alone, he is the most qualified agent Anagonia has to offer in these hostile times.

(I hope this character is appropriate, he should fall into the catagory of 'Good Villian' such as cat woman does but hey he is a mad scientist what do you expect)

Name: Edward James Phillip Mountbatten Starkweather
Nicknames: Jas (to family), Dr. Q (to legitimate buisnesses), The Black Doc, or TBC (To illigitimate ventures)

Age: 36
Height: 6'-1"
Weight: 250 lbs
Hair: Red
Eyes: Green

Occupation: Owner: Starkweather Advanced Technology and Equipment Research (SATER) and Starkweather Applied Research (SAR)

Background: Jas Starkweather is the youngest child of James Starkweather who is a Managing Director of Quincy Mining Company, a mega firm that declared itself a 'soverign corporation' years ago. Jas was quite creative as a child and had a gift for building. He was sent to both prestigious bording schools as well as getting dual bachelor's degrees in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering at the Imperial College of London. This was followed by Masters work in materials for fusion containment at Princton and a PhD in developing neutron lasers at Stanford.

Jas fell 'off the track' during his time at Standford University when he came into contact with the daring entrepeneurs of Silicon Valley. Being the wealthiest graduate student there, he was invited to many parties in an attempt to get Quincy capital to back some project or another. After getting his final degree, Jas joined QMC's Research and Development division. Unfortunatly he quickly found himself bored and fustrated by being blocked into researching his own ideas. Therefore he founded SATER using his own funds less than a year later. Unfortunatly he was unable to find other investors and SATER lanquished until he began advising foreign governments on technical issues. Realizing the amount of world wide military R&D he founded SAR to be a research contracting firm, with the profits being plowed back into SATER.

It was collapse of several nations with SAR contracts that led Jas into the shadowy world of illegal weapons sales. With bills to pay and no client to charge, Jas allocated equipment from military bases and then sold them on the black market. In some cases, the Black Doc would 'modernize' equipment to increase their price on the market.

Many disreputable governments, and orginizations, of the world have sought out the Black Doc's assistance in developing 'specialized' weapons. Some have even attempted to cheat him. Those nations have discovered his willingness to use assasins, theives, and even nuclear blackmail to 'recover' these outstanding debts.

Abilities: Building 'super-weapons' on a whim, turning household chemicals into explosives, using money to 'solve' personal 'problems' (imagine Macguyver in Q's labs with the morals of John Davison Rockefeller)

Huzzah! Superhero RPGs seem to be in such short supply on NS.

Name: Kartosh Forworn
Alias: The Gentleman
Age: 44
Height: 6,1
Weight: 156 lbs
Hair: Deep brown
Eyes: Cold gray
History: Kartosh Forworn, known also as the Gentleman, has a dark past. A veteran from a harsh war which left little to it's warriors, he took up a mercenary job as a more profitable way of life. While on contract to shut down a nuclear power plant taken over by a terrorist sleeper cell, Kartosh stumbled across an animal testing lab, focusing on the effects of radiation on certain mammels. While inside one of the scientists, Kash Wilson, who was in cahoots with the terrorists, activated a newly invented and never tested splicing machine, desinged to destroy cancer cells. Instead Kartosh was cross-bred with a nearby red fox, causing him immense pain and physical change. He was barely able to recover in time to attempt to kill the scientist and stop the machine before it could do anything more. The mission was a success, but Kartosh was changed forever, and Kash escaped. Kartosh fell off the board for a while, becoming a contract killer (assassin) for governments and private interests, taking on the alias "The Gentleman", because he always sent flowers to his victim's next-of-kin. He is not a hero nor villan, just out to make money. He takes jobs and kills by his rather loose moral code.
Abilities: Excellent proficincy with firearms and explosives. Half changed into fox-like creature, giving him enhanced speed, eyesight, sense of smell, ect. Weakness: Cannot swim, must wear covering clothing to conceal his deformities.

Alcona and Hubris
27-01-2008, 20:46
The key to my character is a complete lack of meglomania and a complete lack of morals. His goal is money, not to fund an extravegant lifestyle. (well by rich people standards I suppose. When one has contracts all over the globe, one needs a personal jet that can fly about, and all that time in the air, a researcher needs to have a lab and a supercomputer to get any serious work done these days.) His goal is to fund his desires in science. Fusion, cold fusion, rare particle research, searching for other dimensions, xenobiology, genetic research, 25% efficent solar cells, artifical gravity, the nature of Chaos, deep space exploration, deep sea exploration, and anything else he wants to.

And do you think Superconducting SuperColliders just pay their 11 Billion price tag by themselves? If some politians want to stop intellectual progress like the Inquisition so be it. The science will happen...even if we have to sell some rather nasty toys to some rather nasty individuals. If the governments of the world can do it, then damn well a Starkweather can do it.

Basically, I wouldn't be surprised for him to have a few 'Guardian' contracts on occassion as well as working with the 'Orginization' at times to fund his scientific desires. (In many ways he is the exact opposite of Dr. Venture...He cares about the science, not the money, but the money fuels the science so he will damn well get all the money he can.)

Alcona and Hubris

Let's insert my character where he and his talents will assist the most in balancing the sides.

If it is on the side of the Orginization, he can be the hired upper level 'help' who isn't really trusted by the leaders.

If we need them on the side of the Guardians, well then he can have been wronged by the Orginization and he is helping the Guardians in order to exact his revenge. (And maybe looting some Orginization coffers while at it)

OOC: I'm more than willing to participate, what sort of character are you looking for? I can work with just about any premise. I'm asking because I usually play the 'superior human' in this sort of RP, but there seems to be plenty of those already, along with the Ironman-esque weapons-builders. Also, do we need heroes or villians? These two can play either, the bottom is more of a good-serving anti-hero, where the top guy has no affiliation. And yes, I thought it would be cool to have a sniper duel at some point, between the guy who can throw stuff with his mind and the guy who can cram himself into strange places to line up a shot.

This is what I have so far:

Name: Mercutio Stillwater
Alias: Agent Zero, Psion
Age: Estimated at 35 years, but unknown. Service record suggests otherwise.
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 175 lbs
Hair: Black (flat-top, military-esque)
Eyes: Brown

History: The only information readily avaliable on 'Agent Zero' is a short US Army personnel jacket detailing two tours in Vietnam, and sniper training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Anything else, including place and date of birth have been blacked out, but it's safe to assume his actual age is closer to seventy than thirty-five, despite his looks. Higher-level clearance, however, shows Stillwater has been serving with the CIA for some time now, but still lacks anything beyond his training and assignments before dead-ending again with a false death in an operation at Chernoybl. Stillwater somehow exfiltrated himself back to the United States and reported back to his handler. The Agency took him in for a debriefing, and at some point discovered Stillwater had aquired powerful telekinetic abilities beyond anything the early studies into ESP had produced. Stillwater again vanished, resurfacing during conflict across the globe in hotspots like the Middle East and extensively in the Eastern Bloc. All CIA records relating to him either list him as deceased or make references to an invidual code-named 'Agent 0' that sounds suspiciously like Stillwater, appearing around the same time the man himself appears to have died. No current operations list an 'Agent 0', and all suspicions are that Stillwater has gone rogue and is operating for the highest bidder.

Abilities: Stillwater is a powerful telekinetic adept, but is also highly trained in hand-to-hand combat, firearms (especially long-distance riflery), and speaks several languages fluently. While something of a firearms expert, his skills do not approach that of 'Bullet' Boyd, whom he has worked with on a few occasions. A master spy, his infiltration and evasion skills are also excellent. Highly intelligent and resourceful, Stillwater's expeirence make him a force to be reckoned with. He may also age slower than normal, since a thirty-five year old man having served in Vietnam is impossible.

Name: Andrew Boyd
Alias: Bullet
Age: 26
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 163 lbs
Hair: None
Eyes: Blue

History: Born into a broken home in Kentucky, Bullet enlisted as soon as he was able to escape from a life of low-level crime and teenage pregnancy. A shooting fanatic since age nine, he has an unnatural and somewhat unhealthy love of the gun. The Army seemed the perfect place for such an individual, and he rose quickly through his marksmanship prowess. One of the best snipers yet produced, Bullet served with the 3rd BN 75th Ranger Regiment for the majority of his career before moving into private sector work with Blackwater International. His deployment record shows little beyond routine tours in the Middle East, but his after-action reports reveal him as a total lone wolf, operating without a spotter for extended periods of time in some of the most hostile urban sectors. After his retirement, Bullet used most of the college money provided to him to train as a gunsmith, his love of firearms again allowing him to focus ungodly amounts of energy into crafting and modifying any number of makes, models, and calibers. His nickname, however, is derived mostly from his talent at reloading his own ammunition. Gifted with an unnatural ability to match grain weights of bullets to powder loads and then to the weapons themselves depending on differences in distance, humidity, windage, and the Corialis effect. Shots out to a mile are a routine for the man, a skill that has made him highly valued in any number of circles. Bullet has worked for everything from drug cartels to the Secret Service, and everything in between, including a few operations with the mysterious 'Agent 0'. Unmarried, he has one son, Anthony, who stays with his mother and Bullet's ex-fiancee, the relationship falling apart between long deployments, combined with the young age at which they concieved the child. His near-fanatical pursuit of the 'perfect shot', matching a purpose-built rifle to a purpose-loaded round for impossible accuracy, was probably also a contributing factor.

Abilities: Aside from his incredible skill at distance shooting and the crafting of firearms, Bullet is gifted with ambidexterity and a high facility at point-shooting. A martial artist from nearly as young as he started shooting, his skills unarmed and with a knife are formidable, but pale when set next to his riflery skills. Higher than average agility allows him to get into difficult positions to line up his shots, and he's able to lay still for extended periods of time, waiting for the perfect shot to present itself.

Alias: Tora Chan

Age: 16 going on 60...

Height: 5' 4" Weight: 165# - though looks only as weighing about 120 Build: slender, feminine, gymnastically athletic

Hair: Variable * See below

Eyes: Variable* See below

History: Unknown -Tora is a woman with a problen. She's not from around here...Her slave ship - no she wasn't a slaver, she was one of the slaves. And she's not even human, though she mostly looks like one...

Her clone group had been pirated and were being transported to the blackmarket when the ship had some...difficulties... - and as she had been cloned to be a starship pilot - and mostly taught during the growth process - how to be one -the pirates decanted** her to take the place of the deceased pilot. Helpless to do anything else the 'newly born' female had no choice but to try and fulfill the orders she was given. She managed to suscessfully fly the ship to several of the next scheduled rendevouses, and so the pirates kept her around - they had other uses for her as well. Tora served them for eight years, learning about the space pirate life and some skills needed in that life. She wasn't happy or unhappy, she just rather went with the flow, unknowing of any other way of life. Then the InterStellar Patrol ran across them and the pirate tried to flee. They ended up in Earth's solar system, badly damaged and they all took to lifepods, save Tora whome they left on the bridge. But she managed to get away from the doomed craft in the last pod. She made it to Earth, not knowing if any of the pirates did.

The pod landed in what to her was a howling wilderness - and well, it is to most of us as well...deep in the bush of Alaska. That was seven years ago, and she knows a bit about Earth now, and has left Alaska, but her reactions to things are sometimes off...and she is deathly afraid of being found out as an escaped slave...she believes the pirates are out there and is afraid they are looking for her, so she is more than a little bit paranoid.

Tora is mostly wandering place to place trying to stay low, and stay alive. She has some funds - she looks like a soft target to muggers, rapists and general criominal types. Tora kills in self defense and loots the bodies, figuring it spoils of survival. She has also gotten a small reputation a 'say little, see nothing' bit of a body guard. Though she will NOT work for anyone with ties to the slave trade.

Abilities: Pyroikensis - she discovered purely by accident she has the rare Novan ability to manipulate heat/fire though she has nothing beyond her self training and is a little afraid of it.

Species: Genetically Modified Clone, Novan genotype - Homo Sapiens Novanis

Complexion: Ranges from albino to true black, extreme alterations need a 12 to 24 hour lead time. Normally Eurasian mid range ( Due to genetic mods and nanites )

* Hair: Color & texture -Varies- generally worn long -( Due to genetic mods and nanites )

* Eyes / Visual - Alterable to any color via nanites. Visual acuity is much greater than human ‘best’ of 20/15, can see unhindered in extremely low light levels ( Due genetic Mods and nanites ) Can see into the infra red spectrum. ( Species ability )

Auditory :Range of auditory frequency is extended, as is auditory acuteness. (Species and gene mod )

Olfactory Modifications: twice to three times what is considered 'Human'
norm. (Species and genetic modification )

Physiology: The genetic modifications have given her skeletal structure greater than normal bone density <precipitates of unknown metal rather than calcium> and strength. Her muscles are also denser than those of a Homo Sapiens but due to the fact that she was decanted prematurely ** she is only somewhat stronger than normal human of her size and build- Tora can do a 'fireman's carry' of a companion for a fair distance. Lungs, due to modifications and nanites are far more efficient than Homo Spaiens, as is her cardio vascular system. She is capable of going without breathing/ holding her breath for over ten minutes, and breathing comfortably in oxygen deprived/depleted, or smoke /dust/ toxic atmospheres that Homo Sapiens can not. Her reflexes are superior to 'Human' best. The nanites that impregnate every cell in her body render her immune to many poisons and toxins - but not all and they do Not accellerate her healing. She needs to intake nearly triple the nourishment that 'Humans' require. Her core temperature is higher - 102.1

I've been looking for a good superhero thread to try out this idea.

Name: Matthew Quigley
Alias: Gary Stu
Age: 21
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 170lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Icy blue

History: Matthew Quigley was born on an auspicious day full of omens for a great destiny to come. On that day twenty-one years ago, the planets were perfectly aligned, a comet from a distant and destroyed world crashed into the car on the way to the hospital. The unborn baby was irradiated with cosmic rays never before encountered on Earth. While his parents awaited an ambulance, an alien space craft crashed having been disabled by the falling comet. As the craft's pilot, a member of an intergalactic legion of heroes, died, he transferred some his power to the unborn child in hopes that he could defend this little planet when he was gone.

Unnerved by the pregnancy...and to a lesser extent the strange occurences, Matthew's mother prayed to the Greek Muses to watch over her baby, even though she was Methodist. The Greek Muses appeared, just before the ambulance arrived, and blessed the child with some semblance of their divine power. Whisked away to the hospital, little did Mrs. Quigley know what awaited her.

At the hospital as she was being prepared for delivery, she was bitten by an irradiated Richard Dean Anderson, better known from his roles on MacGuyver and Stargate SG-1 who had accidently fallen in radioactive goo while passing through this small rural town. Overwhelmed by all this, Mrs. Quigley managed to deliver her son, Matthew, with her last bit of effort. On her dying breath, she wished that he become a force for the greater good. Ancient magiks of death and love bound themselves in the boy.

So the boy grew up in a small rural town to a proud yet grief-stricken father. His childhood was a family sitcom. Weekly, even daily dilemmas occured that lead to a moral lessons that effected him profoundly every time. He won every science fair by the skin of his teeth. He earned the key to city hall so often that he simply handed it back to the Mayor so he could recieve it again. He was happy. The town laughed at his precocious antics and never failed to love and admire him.

But then one day...when Matthew turned eighteen, things took a turn for the worse. The latent powers buried deep within him were no longer hidden by the protective sentinels known mysterioiusly as the "Censors." Evil beared its ugly head. Chaos roamed the streets of his bucolic hamlet. These were no longer Mr. Whithers in a Holloween mask trying to scare people away from a buried treasure. Gangsters, black marketeers, serial killers, supervillians arrived over night to plague our young hero. His father was given multiple flesh wounds, his dog was killed three times, his house burned down, his series of newer cars totalled, and they stole his favorite hat.

Recognizing that his powers were the cause of this cliche violence and mayhem, Matthew took a novice rein over his power enough to just barely defeat the villians in his town with a great deal of luck. Deciding that anyone he loved was in danger while he was around, Matthew decided to move to the Big City and inflict his danger on people he hardly knew.

As he struggles to come to terms with his great powers, he flees from his great responsibilities...

Abilities: Reality Warping, as manifested in the powers, responsibilities, and faults of a cliche action hero.

Basically, Matthew has fantastic abilities. He can fire weapons beyond their ammunition capacity, make incredibly long death-defying leaps, cheat death by the skin of his teeth. However, he also is prone to running out of ammo at the worst possible moment even when he might have just reloaded, any pratfall or mishap can occur if dramatically necessary or would make for better comedy, and he can and must die if it would be more heart rending and tragic. That being said, death has little hold as heroes come back from the most certain of deaths. Should Matthew die, he would be absent for a time. He might even come back in a different form or rendition of a heroic archetype like a male hero rewritten a female hero, become an old, has-been hero out for one last hurrah. The possibilities are endless, and Matthew isn't sure he likes any of them...

I thought there are more villians/ unalighned characters than heroic

Hmm, that's true. I guess that the unaligned/villains would be more realistic. Seeing how this rp will take place when most superheros have given up their ways or moved on. This rp's going to be a a few shades darker and more realistic in the way things operate. My one character is a state-sponsored heroine who works for the government more than the people. Of course, with the threat I have in store for the world, alliances will shift, realizations will be made, and tough decisions will be made.

It would make alot of sense to have less ideal heros. Because in this day in age, what is a hero? They're not as simple, cut and dry, figures in the world. The world isn't black and white anymore. SO the lines are blurred.

Relating back to the rp plot. Everyone of you will have your own story arc that you can create with whatever plot you choose, as long as it somewhat relates to the overall arc. So, the smaller arcs will cross eachother from time to time with the main one looming overhead as a guide. That means you have your own story that you can do. I'll write up the IC thread when I get off of work.

Individual story arcs? Won't that be a bit taxing on ya? No, disagreement here. I welcome the idea, and think that personal attention cou;d work out very well for my character, especially if the GM wants to throw a few monkey wrenches in with how Quigley's powers act.
Uiri
30-01-2008, 23:24
I hope its not too late to join the fray. My character is Uir if that's ok.

Name: James Henry Pamison
Alias: Checimal
Age: 20
Height: 1.8 m or 6 feet
Weight: 72 kg or 158 pounds (tell me if its reasonable, I suck at these things)
Hair: black, straight
Eyes: ice blue
History: Not much can be said about James' history. He was born in Fokiri, Uiri and was put to work as a uranium miner at the age of 15. One day he forgot to put on the safety gear and because of nuclear radiation he can now turn his body into any checmical element. He decided to move away from Uiri. He makes his living by being a freak-4-hire, apparently quite poor.
Abilities: Can turn body into any checmial element and control his body through a special form of telekinesis. Keep in mind he takes on the weight of the element too and such. He can't control the state of matter so depending on the temperature he could become a gas, liquid or solid. Can't transform into chemical compounds (e.g. water, methane)

Lame I know.

OOC: I noticed that, hence 'Bullet', along the vein of the Riddick-esque anti-hero who still serves the greater good, whether he knows it or not. Stillwater would make an ideal arch-henchman, since he's not much for world domination on his own and has that mysterious quality to him. AAH's guy seems to have enough funding to hire him as well, if the criminal organization is in need of such an individual. There again, he could make a decent anti-hero as well, or I can tweak his personality a bit and make him a little less dark and callous. As for an individual story arc, I think I can manage that since the two characters have a small bit of history between them.

Name: Gerald Fernandez
Alias: Demonlord
Age: 25
Height: 5 feet 8 inches
Weight: 55kg

History: Fernandez was a lawyer fresh from law school who took on a case representing witnesses testifying against a notorious drug lord. after refusing to back down on the case despite threats and intimidation, he was gunned down by hitmen. his soul was unable to find the peace of death and kept crying for justice. the angels pitied him and wanted to give him another chance on earth so as to ensure that justice catches up with the criminals responsible for his death. amazingly the devils consented and even granted Gerald demonic powers to wreak vengeance by being possessed by the demon Banehollow.

Abilities: Pyrokinesis, telepathy, superhuman strength, summoning other demons

I would have wanted to make my character deeper but i don't have the time for polishing so this'll do for now. His maniacal smile after I mentioned the name wasn't encouraging or comfortable for a moment, but anyways, yeah, Quigley could very much be Rincewind's long, lost mother's brother's nephew's best friend twice removed.

Thanks for the honorary Terry Prachett Award for the Most Humorous Existance. I will forever enshrine it in my signature.

Well Alverisa, I've decided to try something different with this rp. Each player is offered a seperate story arc that you can do with what you please. Of course, they overlap from time to time with the main story arc. So, you can basically just pop in doing whatever and you'll find your niche in the rp.

Currently, Zemsky Industries has been robbed of 200 million Euros by a skilled burglar (Gaeltach). That same character is at the residence of one Matthew Frost, an investigator who was assigned to investigate Zemsky Industries's shady dealings. There's a bunch of guns for hire running around, a state sponsored heroine in Colombia just killed a drug lord, blah blah blah.

It's a rather independent rp. You can do pretty much anything you want.

Right, fair enough

Name: Alexander Cavourna
Alias: The Blue Heart
Age: 39
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 231lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green
Occupation: Lawyer

History:

Alexander Cavourna was one of the most prominent heroes prior to their banning by the UN. After his forced retirement, Alexander Cavourna returned to his daytime occupation as a Lawyer, gaining a formidable reputation for his masterful performances in court as well as pursuing high-risk cases.

Alexander Cavourna was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the 8th May 1968. He lived there for only a brief time before his parents fled to the United States after the outbreak of Sectarian violence in Ireland. Once in America, however, young Alex had to fight for acceptance in New York City for his Irish roots. It was here he discovered his powers. After qualifying from both School and University with a Masters in Law, Alexander volunteered for the American Army and served in the First Gulf War. Upon the war's ending, he was discharged on the grounds of 'Battle Fatigue'. He then served as a Super-Hero, the Black Heart for most of the Decade.

Known for his charisma and courage in the role, the Blue Heart rose to become one of the more recognised Heroes and he bathed in the admiration he recieved. However, upon his forced retirement, he decided to return to his primary ambition of becoming a Lawyer.

He first recieved recognition for leading the persecution of corrupt Police Chief Davids of the NYPD. He then followed on this success with a variety of high-risk cases, including several Drug-Lords and Mafia Leaders. However, the new case that has since dominated his work is the case of Columbian Drug-Lord Julio Hernandes, a case which resulted in the death of a young lawyer, Gerald Fernandez, before him. Alexander has travelled to Hernandes' estates several times as part of his investigation into the killing.

Although a Lawyer, Alexander has also been recruited into the FBI, for his experiences in the Gulf and on the reccomendations of Senior Officers. Although he performs little work for them and is little more than an Informer, he is classed as a Field Agent and can be called into action at any time if needed by the Bureau.

Powers

Alexander Cavourna has control over the element of water. Namely the ability to control it and to turn his own body into water, allowing him to absorb normally lethal damage. However, his ability to remain in this invulnerable state relies extensively on his own levels of endurance which have, naturally, fallen since his peek days. He is also knowledgable in the martial art of Kung Fu.

New character...I know, same thing done over again, but he's different...really, stop laughing!

Name: Foxfire Rose
Age: 20
Race/Nationality: White
Height: 6,1
Eye Colour: Yellow
Hair Colour: Brown
Job: None, wanders at random
Clothes: camo cargo pants, gray shirt, black leather jacket, black boots
Family: None, all dead
Short Biography: Peaceful in nature, easy-going. His family was killed by an unknown Supervillan one night, and he was raised by his grandparents, who have since died of natural causes. He strayed too close to a secret military base one night and was knocked out. He woke up transformed, with his new powers. He managed to break out of the base and is at large, consitered armed and dangerious by the government. One night he found the man who killed his parents, and attempted to kill him. Upon the breaking of the murderer's sword he found out the man had DPD, and was not actually responsible for any of his actions. From there it was a confusing whirlwind of travel and fighting between supervillains, heros, and regular old baddies. His travels with the Metal Man had him in exotic locals, such as Darfur, Baghdad, France, and New York. He and the MM went their seperate ways in NYC, and Foxfire took up a living there as a martial arts instructor. He still must hide his features because the US governemnt is still trying to find him. He uses a holoprojector obtained from the MM to disguise himself.
Superhero Name/Villain Name: Foxfire Rose
Power/Skill: Fox ears and elf ears(enhanced hearing), fox tail (heightned sense of balance), sharp teeth(more painful bite), very good reflexes and grace, the ability to transform into a fox.
Weakness: Hates water, cannot swim, can only stay in fox form for a short time, tends to be more animal-like at times then person-like

One small point:

If the stuff in the other thread is to be regarded as a prequel to this one, then the Guardians would have to have taken a great deal of Foxfire Rose's life. He'd have to be closer to 40 than 20.

Think about it. He was 18 or so when he was with TMM. The Guardians were just about to be formed. It would've taken them a number of years to clean up the world, then a few more for the nazis to really ratchet up the camps. 20 years is a conservative estimate!

I hadn't actually thought in such long terms, only as the events posted in the previous thread, rather than an actual timeline. Besides, he is, technically, not a Guardian. He's just a guy. But if you feel it should be so I will change it...

The problem is that, while Foxfire wasn't ever a guardian, The Metal Man was. I suppose that we can say that TMM was a late addition to the guardians, and that he wasn't involved with them for very long. That might work.

Why wouldn't he? It's no problem if the timeline demands his ageing, I just happen to like RPing his character more as a youth.

He's not. In the post in which Strauss tells the other character that he's going to be "buying an insurance policy," he says that this will be in a couple of hours.

Well...my post is set...a couple of hours later, after Strauss has had time to do whatever else he had to do and get to his office.

Two different times. No contradiction.

In a recent post, Anna called Strauss and said,

"William dear, it's Anna. We got done with the shoot early, so I decided to drop buy and have you buy me dinner. Can I come up, or would the board disapprove?"

This was, according to the post, 3 1/2 hours after Strauss' meeting in the airport.

Was Strauss in his office meeting with TMM at that time? Did TMM hear the conversation?

Yeah, Anna sort of went from being just a small ticket item for a plausable reason for Strauss to check in to doing her own thing suddenly.

Kilgar needed some more 'problems' with Strauss, like an opera singer who doesn't know her place.

Anybody wanna help work a security duty with a LITTLE twist...

I need at least one more person besides Foxfire (if Foxfire is willing). One of them will work with TMM to coordinate security and the other will work with Pete to coordinate the staking out of Strauss' contacts.

TMM will see through Strauss' travels as the distraction that they are. He will play along, however, and track down everybody whom Strauss deals with.

Whether or not they uncover Anna is, obviously, a matter of negotiation, as Anna is an NPC shared among several players so far.

One point that needs clearing up: How does TMM know about all the accounts and to whom they belong? Seeing as they're only circumstantially connected to each other, it should be very difficult to uncover all that info.

OK...here's how it works.

When Pete found that TMM's account had been hacked, he did some snooping. He figured that the bank was probably aware of it, and that their IT department was working on the problem. So...he checked their system for administrative logins and monitored their activity. He found clusters of activity centered on those accounts. He also found that those accounts were frozen so cold that the administrators couldn't thaw 'em out, and that they were all frozen within seconds of each other. From there, he traced 'em back through online identity records. Being a computer program himself, he could do these things faster than a human being.

While he was at it, he thawed his own account back out. This did nothing to return the money that was already stolen from it, but it allowed the funds that were still there to be used again.

AFAICT, all of this was legal. If I remember correctly, it's only illegal to crack into a computer system if you're going to be using it for illegal purposes, or going to damage the data on the system. Pete was doing neither--he was merely accessing his own bank account, which he has every right to do.

Huh? Anna is just like Strauss, an NPC who is a 'character' NPC and belongs to its creator. In this case I created Anna so any Rping Anna must be with my permission.

Sorry. I was not aware that this was the tradition here. I came to this BBS after participating in The Federation Star Trek RPG. There, NPC's, once created, are available to all players--in fact, as Head of Training, I made up NPC crews for the training ships and never used 'em myself.

Yeah, yeah. That was there and this was here. I got the message. :) :) :) When in Rome... :) :) :)

Well, it is a bit flexable depending on the situation. (Just to make your life more difficult). But here mIost people are characters from your nation so the 'nation' rule applies and we are a bit more 'protective' since typically Rping someone represents an aspect of their nation.

The nation rule doesn't apply so much in this situation which is a strait character Rp. But Strauss and Anna have fallen into a middle ground in freeform Rp of being a minor character.

Note: Klatchian characters are only allowed to be Rped by Klatchian nations or those who have permission. (Nation rule expanded in this sense.) This has to do with characters fitting the 'mold' of Klatchia and Port Olympus than anything else.
