Deadliest Catch... (MT Open OOC Interest Thread)

Here's my idea for an RP based on the show Deadliest Catch. Each player would RP as the 'nariator' for his own crab boat, plus as the charactors themselves. Just like the show goes from boat-to-boat, we go from post-to-post. We will be based out of my northern-most port town, Aridor (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/nx9100/map2.jpg), and be fishing in the Eriador Sea, which is off of my North-East coast. It is similar to the Sea's off of Alaska. There are no other kinds of fishing in the area, only the occasional Delkorian Navy patrol. As this is just a sign-up, feel free to through in other ideas. Fill out the form below to sign up.

Name of Boat:
Captain:
Nation of origin:
Other info (optional):

Only the first seven people will be allowed in. I don't want too many boats...

My entry:

Name of Boat: Theoden's Pride
Captain: Markonus
Nation of origin: Delkor
Other info (optional): the Pride has been fishing crab in this sea for the past 30 years. Markonus comes from a long line of fishermen, and has two sons on hes crew. He hasn't had a bad season for over 10 years, and forsees another great catch...

Nice idea, but does it have to be crabs? There are some fish in Alfegos which are caught in very, very dangerous seas, and have a tendancy to attack the fishermen. Application anyway...

Name of Boat: Fego'nia
Captain: Yu'las Kla'nasoi
Nation of origin: Alfegos
Other info (optional): Fishes around the "teeth of Los'Vi" for the rare and elusive "Los'vi Herring", a delicacy in the nation. The area is reknowned for its deadly currents, unstable weather systems, rogue waves and the dreaded maelstrom of Los'vi. Not a very nice place to sail when rough.

Maybe we could change locations. i kinda wanted to play 'host', but if others show interest in changing, I'm game. What kind of fish that attack do you go after?

EDIT:
Will be back in the morning. Feel free to sign up and toss ideas around. Just watch your aim, lol.

The nasty little Los'vi Herring can survive out of water for up to 5 minutes, and in that time attacks anything that it sees. Normally, this means that it latches onto any nearby fishermen with its needle-sharp teeth, and won't let go until it dies or is removed with a chunk of flesh. Many people comment on how they wear such very thick clothing and waterproofs, as well as carry knives on them...
Pan-Arab Barronia
24-01-2008, 23:06
Name of Boat: Dies Felices (Latin for "Happy Days")
Captain: Fleet-Master Frederick Argyll
Nation of origin: Barronia, specifically Barronian Mirrania
Other info (optional): Leader of one of the biggest crab-fleets on the Barronian Merchant Register - the 1200-strong Imperial Fisher Fleet - a direct fleet from the Centralised Fishing Organisation. Fleet-Master Argyll has 35 years experience on the sea, and at the age of 50, looks still to be going strong.

This will be one of the few times ships go out alone from the CFO.

Tag for interest.
Greston
25-01-2008, 04:25
Name of Boat: Maiden Voyage
Captain: Captain Doug Kurk Ismeler
Nation of origin: The Imperial Republic of Greston
Other info (optional): The maiden voyage is the boat that took place for a crab fishing boat that was sunk by barbaric morons, but brought in more fish then the original fishing boat did in a year in a week.

Name of Boat: White Angel
Captain: Mattias Lansgaar
Country of Origin: Kulikovia
Other Info: Captain Lansgaar is an older sea salt, having fished the North Sea since he was a boy, working on his father's boat, The Spirit of Tanya, which sunk during a horrible storm that claimed his father and he narrowly survived. He is a seasoned fisherman, having taken great risks, returning with harrowing tales to tell the younger fishermen.

Sounds like it could be a nice little character rp. A good change up of the norm.

Ok, if no one else wants to join, shall we get started? Alfegos, I'm not sure about fishing your Los'vi Herring. Only because I doubt that the rest of us are familier with how to fish, store, and deal with it. Assuming that we've all watched Deadliest Catch, we would all be familier with the methods of dealing with crab fishing. However, I'm always open to other sugestions...

I haven't watched deadliest catch, but I will be doing research into fishing: the fish are caught and stored just as usual, except for the part where the fish are clubbed to death during sorting.

I just had an idea: how about we do both? We base the 'fleet' out of my village, with some boats fishing for crab, while others, such as yourself, fish for Los'vi Herring. I know I said there aren't other kinds of fishing in the area, but that can always be changed. This way, we can have interaction between the different fishermen, like your nets(?) catching on my pots, or something...

Actually don't the boats go after two diffrent kinds of crabs with diffrent kinds of pots?
Alfegos

Fair does: I think that can work.

Alcona and Hubris, yes the do. I forgot, lol.

Alfegos, kool. I will send out a TeleGram with the link to the IC thread, which I will create, tomorrow, when my SBC internet gets turned on at home.
