Project Fertile Seed (FT) [sci-fi] ATTN ALL!

The South Lizasaurian government would like to join hands with scientist around the world to try to produce a life catalyzer. Or rather something that speeds up life processes, particularly those that happen during reproduction.

We propose this for four reasons:

1) This technology will make colonization quick

2) This technology will make re-population after a disaster quick

3) Healing may become instantaneous

4) Maturing livestock and other organisms for one purpose or anther at a rapid rate

((OC- In other words, a device method for rapid cloning and mass replication for desimination to mass usage and consumption, as well as regenerative capability all the same.

It's more efficient to separate cloning/replication, and medical science restoration capability, to actually give effective focus and study to each field, to 'then' improve each area upon in successive generation stages of development.

Creating a single all purpose unit, for all needs, would be too complex, given what is needed just to clone living units. Even my own civilization still requires large facilities to conduct large scale cloning. And we keep healing sciences separated to not mess with the two fields.

Course this is a moot point for me at present, until my RP nation situation improves. Other nations FT wise would be more apt at providing such needs. A single all purpose unit is not logically feasible, as it is not feasible for RL hospitals to have maternity and ER in the same wing and all. (Not at the size of scale being mentioned here. And I haven't even started on the agricultural aspects this all deals with. (And healing livestock by such methods is semi-silly even for FT nations to consider. Save for specific cases that animal lovers lay unto.)

And to think this is all RP. =^^= Nevermind my stuff on Genetic Refabrication after combat death and all. At least something to grab RP hooks for others to lain into here.))

This is well within the capabilities of an enhanced matter transmitter that my character, The Metal Man, employed in the thread "Derelict Colony." It was used in this thread to heal a genetic mutation forced upon a friendly soldier by a spreading plague species.

The matter transporter, with a huge memory upgrade and vast energy resources, could be used not only to transfer originals, but to make copies of, say, livestock and the like. It could also be used to heal or reconstruct injuries or genetic abnormalities such as spinabifita. Finally, it can be used as a genetic editor, though the information technologies necessary for this are so comprehensive that they were not available in the setting of the previously mentioned thread (the device was simply used to restore the soldier's DNA to a previous preset).

There is also plenty of room to abuse such a device. In the thread, it was pointed out that the thing was adapted from something that came out of a torture chamber. It would be relatively easy, for example, to modify a man's nervous system to make his sense of hearing 10 times better--and then cause him incredible pain by setting a ringing telephone next to his ear. This, of course, is not considering the possibility of giving him an incredibly painful ailment like Crohn's Disease.

If your life catalyst, as you call it, works by speeding up cell division, metabolism, etcetera, how do you keep it from killing whatever you're using it on? Aging would occur more rapidly, cancer would kill in minutes, and starvation in seconds. And then there's the fact that it completely overlooks learning. A flash cloned human may have all the right parts, but it'll have the mental capacity of a snail. Probably less, given that the snail's at least had some basic experience avoiding being eaten.
