Months and months of debating within the Protectorial Assembly of Koraslava have finally ended, with decision coming from the Assembly loud and clear: Koraslavs want independence from Latislavia. " Many of our citizens appreciate their heritage as ethnic Latislavs, but its also time to recognize the native peoples as well as Koraslavs. We need to be independent and assume a new identity as Koraslava" said Koraslav Lt. Governor Boris Lenin. For almost a year, since the old Empire in Latislavia was torn down, Koraslava had been contemplating independence after Latislavia had taken a policy of salutary neglect to deal with its own internal conflicts. During this time, Koraslava's population and economy grew. While Koraslavs agreed with the socialist policies first implemented by Rein Wilhelms, the Head of State for Koraslava, the citizens started becoming more disapproving of Wilhelms implementing more capitalist policies and sending more private buisinesses over to Koraslava. Koraslavs felt as though the buisnesses had been buying votes to keep the Governor-General, Slobadon Rekavjik, in power because of his pro buisness politics, which did not sit too well in a country with a large and evergrowing rich-poor division. So, in a decision by the Assembly, all the representatives voted for complete independence. Latislavia is set to finalize and announce the result in the next meeting in Parljagov.
