SPNN (Sardinas Public News Network)

8:00- Anchor Ivan Gregoroitch is sitting at the news desk. We interrupt your regular programs for this important message. The National Rivers Movement, which pushes for control of the Urnal River Highlands, as this is their ethnic homeland, have declared independence from our government! River traffic has ceased! Sardnas has let out a call for any nation to help stop these rebels from destroying our economy!

Post a thread saying weather you support the rebels or the Sardinasian government.

The Foriegn ministry of Bulgislavia has just heard news of this rebel succession from Sardinas
Though there is not much material aide we can send as Bulgislavia is going through desperate times The Bulgislavian Government supports the Sardinas Government and condemns the Rebel movement. We hope the Sardinas government can get the situation undercontrol.

The Bulgislavian government would also like to know what steps the Government has taken in the past to try and unite the ethnic groups of your nation and if the problem is resolved how will you bury any ethnic hatred.
As the Bulgislavian government can not spare any resources we do Officially and publicly support the Sardinasian Government
Sardinas

Thank you Bulgislavia. We have tried to pass equal rights acts to help them, and given them a lot of control in the river area. Unfortunately, all they want is secession, at least the fundamentalists do. To bury the ethnic hatred after this conflict will be to have talks with the ethnic leaders to find out (other than independence) what they would want to stop the violence.

10:00- Ivan Gregoroitch is sitting at the news desk. Good evening. We have just received word that the Bulgislavian government has openly said they support our country's cause. In other news, we have just barely heard reports that the elite Sardinisian army unit, The Blue Devils, have just captured a train, which was carrying weapons to rebels. We are getting unconfirmed reports that a nuclear weapon was on board. We'll keep you updated on this dangerous situation.

"Sir, there is some kind of problem with ethnic minorities in Sardinas. They want independance and are using armed forces to get what they want. They are saying openly on the news that they are armed with nuclear weapon."

"What? Check it with intelligence, I seriously doubt that."

"Yes Sir."

"Has they ever been a referendum regarding independance in Sardinas?"

"No, never sir."

"It seems the rebels are overreacting and we need to stop them, but it also seems the governement is not giving them a chance either. We may have to einforce a referendum, purely for ideology."

Transmission to Sardinas

We do not approve of the Rebel's acts but certainly think you're governement hasn't given them the chance they need. A referendum appears to be the only peacfull resolution to the conflict, we can assure it to be enforced if you wish. Be assured that we stand proudly of our ideology and of democracy, and are prepared to act if you do not give ethnic minorities their chance.

Transmission to Rebels

Cease hostile action immediatly, we are curently negociating with you're governement for a peacfull resolution to the conflict, that means a referendum regarding the independance of your people.

A reporter on the scene: Hello, I'm Sergio Voloskavicth. I am here in the so called rebel capital of Marensburg, were the youth movement of the National Rivers Movement, the Urnal Youth, have just instigated a huge riot. (Helicopter flying over in the background, strafing an area with machine gun fire) They have clashed with Sardinasian military forces, and the casualties continue to rise... (explosions nearby. Sergio ducks) It is open warfare here... we have just received word that the impromptu peace talks that were about to be held today have been canceled. The National Rivers Movement has said, in a recently released press statement, that if Sardinas withdraws all troops from the Urnal Highlands, the violence will stop, and peace talks will continue. The premier of Sardinas, Mikhail Horowitz, says he needs to think about the 1 million other citizens in the Highlands who are not Urnal... (explosions everywhere. Sergio disapeers. Camera still working. Young people chanting "Death to Sardinas" and firing assault rifles are pushing against a barricade of Army units, who a fighting back with tear gas canisters, fire hoses, and machine guns. Camera finally cuts out) 345 Urnal Youth were killed that night, with 113 army men killed in house to house fighting or in street battles. This clip would soon be shown in news broadcasts around the world.

Well, actually, it is possible. Ever hear of the levee en masse? That is where, everyone is in the military, because the government told them they had to fight. Plus, 89% of the governments current income is going to the military spending. Plus, most non Urnals are government fanatics, so there is a HUGE enlistment thing going on currently.

Office of the Consul, City of Nova Roma, Coliformia

"There's trouble in Sardinas, Consul." The speaker was the Legatus Supremus of the Army of Coliformia, the highest-ranking officer of the Army. "Apparently, there's a secessionist movement in part of the country, using rather questionable tactics in the pursuit of its goals."

"Sardinas? What do we know about them, Legatus?" The Consul, or President, of the Confederacy leaned forward in his chair, inviting his senior general to sit across from him. Consul Auguste preferred to keep things as informal as possible in the upper echelons of his government. Well aware of the salutative effects of discipline and formality in the lower ranks, he was simply more comfortable in a less-formal environment with such men as the Legatus.

The general took the indicated seat and removed a folder from the briefcase that always accompanied him. Sliding the folder across the desk, he replied to his Consul, outlining everything Coliformia's intelligence services knew or had deduced about the current situation.

"All right," said Auguste. "Send warning orders for deployment to Legio XX, and see if we can get some of the Black Berets in there ASAP to begin training. I'm willing to bet with that level of conscription into their Armed Forces, we'll be dealing with little more than conscripts on both sides of the line. We'll see if we can't help the government forces get up to speed. I'll have the Department of State contact the government of Sardinas, and we'll get this moving."

"Very good, sir," said the Legatus as he stood. "I'll get right on it."

The Consul acknowledged the Legatus with a nod as he reached for the telephone on his desk.

FROM: Department of State, Confederacy of Coliformia

TO: Office of the President, Sardinas

Mr President:

We have viewed with much alarm recent events in your nation, and are contacting you with an offer of assistance. Immediately, upon your acceptance of same, we are prepared to deploy elements of our elite Black Berets for observation and training purposes, and we are, as you read this, preparing our XXth Legion for a long-term combat deployment. We can, of course, increase this force level if the situation should call for it. Our ambassador will await any reply you may have, at your convenience.

Consul Auguste IV, Confederacy of Coliformia

[OOC: Coliformia is preparing to enter this conflict on the side of the legitimate government of Sardinas, and has directed their ambassador to initiate contact with that government to discuss troop deployments and needs.]

Reporter on the Scene: The recent Rebel charge is being pushed back. After air force officials launched the Arrowhead Cruise Missiles 1 to 15. Rebel infrastructure along the Urnal Highlands-Colca Plains area has been destroyed, but troops still expect a really hard fight, because the rebels, said general Dimitri Medelov, " The rebels will stay in Merensburg, stay in the forests, stay in the hamlets and towns. -Yes Sir

-What is the intelligence report?

-They are pretty well armed for rebels of their size, but not signs of weapons of mass destruction.

122 000 regular army troops are sent in total for the rescuing of civilians, 5553 army helicopters and 12 Elite Jet fighters on stand by just in case

Pilus Prior Mercator, commander of Legio XX Cohort VI, stood in the door of the Caela-class Rapid Deployment aircraft. Behind him were the mutters and grunts of the eighty men of his command, as they prepared to disembark onto the soil of Sardinas.

There was a distinct chill in the air, and the atmosphere was subdued. From his perch, Mercator could readily see several of the conscript soldiers of the Army of Sardinas. Despite the chill, they resolutely stood their posts, weapons at the ready.

I've trained worse, the Pilus Prior thought to himself. Infernus, compared to some of the dregs back home, these boys don't look bad at all.

He heard his leading princepales give the order for the legionnaires to fall in and prepare to disembark. Mercator stumped down the disembarking ladder and began looking for the liaison officer he had been told would meet him. Behind him his men filed off the aircraft, singing as they came...

Early one morning in the pouring rain,
Pilus Primus said it's time for pain.
So grab your kit and follow me!
It's time to do some Legion PT!

We jogged nine miles and we ran for three,
Pilus Primus yelling follow me!
Then we walked two miles and we ran for eight!
Legion PT sure is great!

A small military team of about 20 men can be seen skulking through the forest. They wear the black and red uniform, only bestowed upon the elite of the Tolstonian army. They approach the village of Shushannah, undetected. Commander Ivanovich looks through the cover of the trees hiding him and his troops, to reveal a clearing, full of rebel soldiers and cabins. "Now" is the only word his mouth utters. The soldiers around him aim their cannon like weapons, and fire. As they do, puffs of smoke erupt all around the rebel soldiers. The rebel soldiers stand there, looking dumbfounded, as the Tolstonians reload. "Drop your weapons and lay down, you will fall asleep now" Commander Ivanovich orders, and every rebel complies. You see, the Tolstonians have a new weapon to bring to conventional warfare. The guns they use fire grenades, but instead of releasing a toxic gas, they release a mind controlling substance. This substance does not completely control the mind, or last for long periods of time. However, it does make a person VERY willing to do whatever you say. With all of the soldiers on the ground, weaponless, the troops march upon the cabin, which waves the rebels' flag. A Tolstonian kicks the door down, and the firing begins. Within ten seconds, the majority of the rebellion's leaders are dead. As this takes place, a small fleet of Tolstonian ships arrive near the coast. They begin firing upon the areas of heavy rebel resistance. They fire more capsules of mind control gas, and effectively encloud most of the pockets of resistance. As megaphones order the surrender of the rebels, 80% of the rebel forces walk out of their encampments and surrender to Sardinian forces.

The screen flicks off. Vladimir Jordonivich, decked in full military gear smiles to himself. "I believe payment shall be received soon. Tell the Sardinian government that their rebel problems are over, all that is required now is a simple policing movement which I am sure they are capable of"

This was not nearly enough for what the Sentients planned to do, hopefully thet would get the rest of the vetrans off the boats with some more heavy artillery. The plan was simple. unload enough men to take a modewrate-sized port city in order to unload the rest of the men. The city had already been picked, and it was thought that once their fortifications were severly damaged that the enemy conscripts would be esily defeated, or surrender. Then hopefully they would be able to hold the city in case reinforcements were required.

They would lay down covering fire while the Explosives team Bravo would blow a hole in the outlining wall. There was also a sniper team consiting of 4 men with Barret M82 Anti-Matter snipers, also known as Fifty Caliber Sniper Rifles. They would shoot at the defences.
"We are nearing the drop zone, we will not be landing. We will be rappelling down.!" As the Gunship came to a hover one of the soldiers opened the door and threw the rope out. The soldiers than rappelled down. They were right on the coast of the water so they culd see the approcahing BMP2s. The BMPs held normal soldiers. If they didn't at least take down the defences, the soldiers will be cut down. Sniper team Bravo aimed at the fort waiting for the go ahead. The captain gave the hand signal. The Rebels panicked as the soldiers swarmed into the fort. 75% of them surrendered to the Soviet Aissur forces. The rest fortified themselves in the blockhouse, to withstand a siege. The blockhouse was defended with 14.5 mm machine guns, anti tank rifles, and RPGs. The men, led by their captain, Long-Zhou, knew they would die. They only had one question in mind- How many enemies they could take down with them.

The MI-24ps began firing their 30mm gun mount at the blockhouse. Some of the soldiers fired RPGs at the blockhouse.
"If only we had got those T-90s in." Thought a BMP gunner as he fired an ATGM at the block house.
"Man down!" Shouted the leader of Alpha as one of his squadmates was hit. He dragged the soldier behind a fallen down tree. A medic came over but was hit.
"Don't you die, don't you die." The Sqaud leader said. Another medic came and stopped the bleeding. His actions were futile as a RPG round hit nearby, spraying the medic and injured soldier with shrapnel. Some of the soldiers began getting the POWs to landing zone beta as the MI-26 Halos began landing. "Holy shit." A recruit said as he saw the massive space availible on the MI-26s. They could carry 82 fully equipped soldiers. Or they could carry 60 stretchers, although they hope the stretchers would be holding enemies, not fellow comrades. One of the Halos were filled and proceded to fly towards a base camp that was set up nearby. Five T-90 tanks showed up and began firing their 125mm 2A46M smoothbore guns at the blockhouse. The only question was, how long would they last under this barrage?

IC: The Sentient commander had moved his forces off the beach and was going to where they would reandevou with the rebels to take Meregon. He had at his disposal 50,000 infantry, all elite or vetrans, 500 heavy tanks, 5,000 light tanks, 1,500 medium tanks, 100 heavy artillery, and 150 light artillery. The plan of attack was simple. The special forces had been at the landing, and had goone to the boats as the last transports had left. From there they had been loaded onto the submarines. even now they were approaching the city. They would be unloaded from the subs while a frontal assualt was made to distract the enemy. The special forces would then pick a spot to breach the enemy defenses so the 10,000 elites in hiding could pour through. The city would not be bombed and the artillery would not be used unless plan A failed. This was to minimise enemy casualties, as all enemy forces were to be considered civilians due to their being conscripts.

Team Alpha crept through the forest on a mission to overview the defenses of a rebel camp. Most of the men were not shaken by their squadmate's death, as they have lost many in the past. The new squadmate however, had big shoes to fill. The soldier lost was a highly decorated one. He turned down a possible position of power so he could stay with his comrades. He was given a full hero burial upon his funeral. The Commander of the Ground Forces was even there. He presented a check to his Wife for the total of 500,000 USD. The Sentient genrals were getting worried. The rebel bases were being overcome, 1 by 1. They needed to take a defendeble city, with AA, and Anti-missile defenses. They hoped that Meregon would be that city. The Sentients surveyed the enemy defenses and were not impressed. They were vetrans from the Latvawgo conflict, some had even been pulled from the Tatom front and replaced with green troops.

Meanwhile: The subs were within 1 mile of the city and had so far remained undetected. Everything was in order for the assualt. It was hoped that it could be bloodless.

Unknown to the aggressors in this war, a secretive submarine fleet surfaced on the shore. From this fleet came 100 men. Then the fleet sank below the waves again and left.

The 100 men broke into 2 groups of 50 and split up, one group heading for the rebels, the other to the capital.

Neither groups carried weapons of any sort; rather, each man carried something seemingly random- there weas one carrying some bottles of wine, another pair carrying a large table, etc.

It was a strange sight indeed to all who looked upon them.

After a days march, each group arrived at their destination and requested to see the leader of each faction...

The 4th fleet had been the nearest to Sardinas when the order came through, that was why it had been chosen. Admiral Kent had been resting in his cabin onboard KRNS Victory when the order had come through and had been notified by email. He had instantly relayed the order to the fleet and gone up to the bridge to organise the attack. The first stage would be a joint naval and air assualt on the Sardinasian coast and inland defences to clear the way for the ground troops. The fleet had over a 2000 aircraft in total and would make short work of the enemy.
Now, hours later all the preparations had been made and the fleet was in range. As the sun set on the horizon over 1000 aircraft were taking off for a night raid. In the lead were 100 F-19s, all fully loaded and ready to take on whatever came at them. They were followed by several hundred F-40s and over 100 B-74s. The enemy would be overwhelmed.

Publicly Televised Statement Regarding the Situation by High Chancellor Elros Caesin:

"In regards to the recent issues abroad, the Silvan Empire of Conrado has once again decided to formally declare full neutrality, and to temporarily ban any and all trade with the nations involved. All of the Silvan Empire's citizens are also prohibited from traveling to any of said nations, for their own protection. As soon as treaties are accepted by the warring parties, trade and travel will once again be open, and encouraged. For the time being, we shall sit on the sidelines, offering military aid to none. Simultaneously, any refugees seeking a peaceful nation to adopt, as their own is ripped by war, will be given full amnesty and rights, and can later apply for citizenship to the Silvan Empire as per our Författning (Constitution). Any planes or boats bringing refugees are to follow our standard procedures, dropping them at an outlying island base, departing, and then allowing our own ships to pick them up.

To the leaders of the nations involved, you must not mistake our neutrality for weakness. Our empire has one of the most powerful defensive armies in existence, and are only eliminating trade until peace is reached, as it is part of the Silvan Empire's international policy to ban all ties to nations in a state of war. We wish peace to be achieved as soon as possible. Thank you, and good night."

15 Minutes Later, Benvelk Darastrix, of the Councilor of Elders, (Conrado's Parliament), enters High Chancellor Elros Caesin's Office:

"Chancellor Caesin, I am pleased to learn that you have ratified the bill passed by the Council to fully cut off all trade with all nations involved in this civil war."

"Yes, yes Elder Darastrix. The decision was not one to be made lightly, but as you know, we are an ancient empire...one of only a handful to survive the tribulations of history, and to persist into modern day. We were only able to survive after the Ă…rhundrade av Sorg, (Century of Sorrow), due to our strict laws of international neutrality and apathy to world affairs. Issues within our own lands and those of our few allies must always come first."

"Indeed. We trade with a thousand lands, yet formally ally with less than ten. This was the thinking of the Council in supporting this bill."

"....and it was wise."

Almost at the same time, they detonated their explosives and the city was plunged into panic. The rebel sent a video to the media and all over internet:

Everywhere in the war torn city of Meresburg, Sardinisian troops were overrunning rebel strongholds. The rebels were inflicting heavy casulties, but did not have the manpower enough to drive back the defenders. It was only a matter of time.....

IIC hideout in Sardinas capital (name?)

Agent Stone was looking into the eyes of the five rebel terrorist, they where covered with enough C-4 to blow an entire building to dust. They where holding their hands and giving themselves courage for the sacrifice they where about to make. They all spread out in five different area of the city and targeted major civillian centers ; 1 went in a huge mall, another went downtown, 1 in the subway, 1 in a major hospital and a last one in a sport stadium. Almost at the same time, they detonated their explosives and the city was plunged into panic. The rebel sent a video to the media and all over internet:

The attacks will continue as long as you opress our people, let us be free our let us die trying. We are convinced in our cause and will do whatever means neccessary to get our freedom. Retreat from Meragon, or the bloodsheld will be worst next time.Encoded Message to The Rebels

Transmission from the rebels (working with UH intelligence)

Give us our independance and we will stop, we want an official meeting with the President in the next 24 hours or we will be forced to strike yet again.

UHBN (Upper Highlands Broadcasting Network)

Now, special report from Jessica Verdel, Sardinas

Thanks Tedd, the situation is very tense here in Sardinas, Citizens are scared since the suicide attacks from the rebels. (She interviews a random passer-by) So the president doesn't care that they strike again, as long as he wins the war. I don't send my kids to school by fear of another attack and I just think he should let them have their independance, I no longer think that his intentions are to protect the people of Sardinas. If the rebels strike again, it will be on his conscience.

The President will not be able to attend due to strict security policies. Instead, our Minister of International Relations, Mark Grunsen, will attend the meeting as well as two other diplomats; George Wilson and Tedd Stuart. Our official position is neutrality, but we favor the rebel's legitimacy as a independent state.
