Maximillien Thenardier had not visited a foreign nation in several months. He had been living with his family in solitude and did not expect to recieve a message about being ordered to visit Kartika to discuss a possible alliance with the Silver Imperium; a new nation that was recently created. When the plane landed, Maximillien walked out of the plane dressed in winter clothing and with a briefcase in his hand. Quickly, he looked at a picture of his family before noticing Fyren Redwood in the distance.

It was a frigid day in Kartika. Ice froze like a new layer of pavement onto the sidewalks. The grey stone of the government buildings was bleached white by frost. But the Kiravians, accustomed to fierce winters, went about their buisness as usual. The had little choice. As the nerve centre for half of the Silver Imperium, the Kiravic capital was never still. There was always at least one government official headed somewhere on urgent buisness.

Today, that official was Fyren Redwood, Secriatist of State for the Silver Dominion of Kiravia. While the central government of the S.I. was still being formed, he had taken it upon himself to conduct some foriegn affairs. He was on his way to Kartika International Airport, to a government-reserved alnding strip, where Foriegn Minister Thenardier of Skamania and Duloc would be arriving to discuss a possible alliance.

Redwood swiped his security pass, and strode out to the tarmac just as the Skamanian plane landed.

"it is nice to meet you, Monsieur Redwood."

Maximillien walked with Fyren to the electric streetcar and took his seat. "Monsieur, I am sure that you have heard of the birth of Princess Charlotte. The King and Queen of Skamania and Duloc are still thankful for the gifts that they recieved from Kirav."

Redwood greeted him, "Welcome to Kirav, Sèr Thenardier. We are honoured to have you." He pointed to a waiting electric streetcar, "Come, we shall speak somewhere warmer."

Consul Kadesh regretfully can not attend nor engage in dialogue at this moment in time, due to current and ongoing international diplomacy. A representative of parliament will be summoned as soon as the stance of the High Council is determined.

As Kirav undoubtedly represents the interests of The Silver Imperium, we ask that the meet continue as planned regardless of the lack of any Pictish presence and not await the arrival of Pictish diplomat. An update will be issued by New Pictavia in due time.

The streetcar neared the city walls, and the fountain in the Echoese War Memorial was in plain sight.

That fountain is part of the Echoese War Memorial, a testament to the Dolphin Rights Debate, Bloody Sunday War, and the various other conflicts that Kirav has been involved in while defending our ally in the Echo Islands. We hope that Skamania and Duloc will become an ally of the Empire as well."

"I believe that Barronia is my nation's major ally; ever since Prince Sebastien married the Barronian Chancelloress. However, I would not have any problems with supporting an alliance between my nation and the Silver Imperium but we must discuss the terms first. I may leave Kartika with news of a successful meeting or a failure."

The streetcar pulled up to the Diamond Building, the State Secriat conference cetrre where the alliance with the Echo Islands had been sealed.

Redwood got out, and held the door open for the Skamanian.

"Come, Sèr, there is a conference room prepared for this meeting inside."

Maximillien silently walked with Redwood into the Diamond Building; thinking about the meeting in his mind. He had come here to establish relations with the Silver Imperium and hoped that the meeting would be a success. "Sir, I think it would be good to begin our discussion by talking about an embassy exchange."

"Certainly," said the Secriatist, "'Tis on this very street, International Avenue, that most foriegn Embassies are located. We've just constructed a row of twenty-five new units, designed for not only comfort and security, but adjustability. We wanted to make it easy for other nations to incorporate their own architecture into the buildings."
