In this alternate history thread, there will be a large area of landmass of which you can stake a claim to terretory, the nations in this thread are not real life nations, but have the same area, land and forces etc. this is entirely coincidental.

There are several main armies for you to pick from;
You are not acting these forces, you are simply using their forces and land.
Team 1;(coincidently resembelling the allies of WWII)
-Poland
-United Kingdom
-France
Team 2; (resembelling the attackers of Poland)
-Germany
-Soviet Union
-Slovakia

Navy:
5 Submarines

4 Destroyers
1 large Minelayer
1 Artillery training ship
2 Gunboats
Air Force:

I have read it, and you cannot Role PLay real life characters etc. and were not doing that, this is a thread where players are using the forces and land etc. of the country concerned, they are not RPing as the country/ruler.
I don't believe that: you have the teams "co-incidentally" named after the main players of the 2nd world war in this, using the armies of the countries, the landmass of the countries... generally actually playing the countries. And if the title "Alternate History Thread" doesn't give it away...

I suppose you got me there... But I stand by what I said, its just playing with the nations forces and land, so in the mean time, why not wind down a bit and play the thread?
Can't really, gotta do some work... may think about it later in the day.

The polish tanks are defeated, the citizens are evacuated and 2 cavalry brigades await the enemy at wilno.

The german forces advancing from Prussia realize that the northern offensive has been a faliure and would like to retreat but are now surrouded. The last hope is to call for help from the Prussian reserve militia.
The Prussian reserve militia will launch a couter attack against the FFL company that attacked the German forces from behind.

The prussian militia are only reserves with limited training and old assault rifles and so are no real match for the FFL. Therefore they can only do as much as try to help the other german troops retreat back north.
What happens is that the prussian militia are able to clear the area for retreat only after sufferring terrible losses themselves. By this time there is not much of a German army left to save.
Having cleared the way the prussian militia and remaining german assualt force call for air fighter support as they expect to be bombed as they retreat.

Whoah guys, uh...these twelve word posts just don't cut it in RPs unless they pertain to something that can't be explained in depth.
Example, this:
The city is locked in gueralla warfare, the soldiers and civilians know the city like the back of their hand, but food is running out, they begin to feed on the russian soldiers and each other...
Should become something like this:
The city was in flames. Across the perimeter of *insert city name here*, rifle retorts, machine gun bursts, and grenade blasts were muffled by the deep barotone bass of artillery strikes. Fires rose steadily from burning buildings where shells fell with deadly precision, and tactical bombers struck from their perches high above the clouds.
Alexiyev Gustoski knew his home well. Cold biting at his hands, face, and body, he ran from rubble pile to rubble pile, grasping the metal and wooden stock of his PPSH submachine gun, keeping its nose down save it go off prematurely and give away his position.
"Where are those Russian bastards?" He thought to himself, looking down alleyways and into the air, seeking out tell tale tracer shots which may betray the locale of the enemy forces. He continued walking down the sidewalk of what had been once a roadway filled with shopping marts and restaurants where he had spent many a fun filled afternoon with his mates. They were dead now. They were all dead. Now he would avenge them.
Choosing a side alley, heading in an eastward direction, he pursued what he though he heard as near by weapons fire. He ran down as far as the path went, some thirty feet, then chose the following alley heading north. From there he saw a small squad of green-grey overcoat wearing Red Army troops, hiding behind a pile of rubble. In the center of the mass was another man, obviously a Commissar by the green brimmed hat atop his head and the large Red Star he wore within it. He was a large man, rotund with a big brown mustache and a brown great coat differing himself from his troops. The NKVD patch aside his shoulder further gave away his standing as an officer, and Alexsi moved closer, slowly. He was very close now, so close that he could see the fear in the young Russian's eyes as they fired shots into the streets which he could not see. He lifted the submachine gun's iron sight to his eye level, and pressed the hard wooden stock into his shoulder. He rested his head just atop the weapon's metal frame, and flipped the selected into automatic. As he squeezed the trigger and the weapon burst into terrible life, he knew that the poor Russians would never see it coming.
Events such as this occured all throughout the city, as the partisans made valiant stands against their Red Invaders. However, as supplies ran low and casualties rise, they turn to every opportunity they can find to raid food, even from each other....
While I think I could do better, that should give you an idea of how to conduct a post. Granted I don't know precisely whats going on in this RP, but thats the best assumption I can make as to what Leekastin's post was trying to say. Hope that helps! (OOC: God, what happened while I was away? Seriously everyone, take a chill pill and heed these guys advice - if you want to make a nice RP, go into detail about what you are doing. As well as that, only say what your troops are doing, unless the person has already said what they are doing and you are repeating what they did (i.e., the opponent opens fire on you with a machinegun, and you roleplay your squads reaction to that machinegun fire.)
Secondly, if anyone starts hurling abuse, known as flaming, either ignore them or try to cool it down. If that doesn't work, then the moderators are just a forum away. I know how it feels, Alversia, but don't give in to flamebaiters and trollers.

IC: An update of German activities.
IC: With the Polish forces having retreated to Warsaw, German forces have tried to secure thier occupation of south east Poland with thier forces occupying cities such as Czestochowa and Cracow.
The Germans have suffered heavy losses on thier eastern front and have totally retreated on the northern front. But since the Polish forces have been tied down by the Russian invasion, the situation has allowed the Germans to eventually break through the Polish western line and secure most of south east Poland. This has given them time to bring reinforcements into the area.
They will now advance on Warsaw with renewed air support and with Waffen SS troops who are trained in guerilla street warfare.
OOC: By the way can I talk about other historical events such as the resettlement of German and Polish jews to Ghettos in Poland. (Not the holocaust as it happened later in 1942-45)

IC: The commander of Polish forces at Warsaw, General Nuemann, was nervous about the battle to come, he was nervous about the war, he was nervous of his family.
Nuemann was half German, his father had been a German fighter pilot in the first war, and he had live in the polish corridor, so became a polish citizen after the war. Nuemann was very fond of his father and proud to be his son, although he hoped his father wouldn't be angry or annoyed with his actions against German soldiers.
His father was awfully fond of Germany and the German military, but he was Jewish, and is extremely anti-nazi, he would want to fight Nazis, but never harm Germany.
General Nuemann snapped out of thought, he depolyed all soldiers in the area, he ordered the concealment of them all in the nearby farms and villages, and awaited the German forces...

Were going to need a bombing run on the Soviet forces attacking our 10 infnatry divisions on the western side of the river near Lwow. That is the main prioroty.
OOC: Fair enough
IC:
Upon the orders of HQ, twelve P.37 'Los', twin Engined Bombers set off from their airfields. Their destination were the Soviet spearheads trying to cross the river and attack the Polish forces defending the other bank. Along with these forces another twenty P.23 'Karas' would also be sent into attack at low level rather than the high level bombers. Overall support was to be provided by a dozen P.11 fighters and eight of their predecesors, the PZL. P.7 fighters.
Flying one of the Karas was St. Szer. Stanley Koblinski. Staring around him nervously for any sign of Soviet fighters as well as trying to keep in formation with the other P.23's he could only hope the Escort would be able to help them if the Russians attacked. Against the fighters, the PZL. P.23 would not last long. He swallowed hard, pushed the image of his wife and children at home in Warsaw and focused on the job in hand.
Above them, were the Los Bombers. One of the most modern Bombers in the world, these were also the most advanced aircraft available to the Polish Air Force. Flying the leading one was Aleksansder Gabszewiez. He was a veteran pilot, serving with the Russian Air Force during the First World War and then fought against the Ukraine and Russia during the 1920's. Now he was on a mission to protect his homeland and he wouldn't let her or his crewmen down.
Western Front
While the Germans continued their advance, more Kara and Los were sent desperatly against the advancing Panzers. They were trying to stop them long enough for the Ground Forces to build defences for Warsaw.

OOC: ye, once you've got warsaw (if you do) you can put who you like there.
IC: If you will fight a guerilla war then you give us no choice but to bomb and blow up any farms and buildings in our way where Polish forces are thought to be hiding.
As for Nuemann's jewish father, he'd better then hide away if he wants to evade detection by the gestapo after Poland is fully occupied.
(I'm sorry. Perhaps talking about events other than the war itself is not really appropriate. I don't want to role-play any persecution of the jews. I just want a good war game.)

Our renewed air support means that our bombers will try to help take out ground resistance and our fighters will help to take out air resistence.

OOC: Maybe a tiny bit more detail here. For example, how many troops are defending the city? Is there armour? Snipers? Artillery? Something like this:
Warsaw's Defences was now of sufficient strength to hold the Germans for some time. 55,000 (OOC: I assume?) troops of various various divisions and Armies had been assembled under General Nuemann's command and now he paced through the outer limits of the city. Where he had grown up. Where he would die if necessary.
From his current position he could see Polish 7TP Light Tanks hiding around street corners or hidden by camoflague. He could also see snipers setting up their rifles in the various buildings that built up on either side of the street.
He also knew there were machine gun posts build up in various strongpoints in the city, and anti-tank artillery dug into the ground to stop the German Panzers. Mines had been laced by the thousand throughout the city in an attempt to force the Invaders into corridors of death.
General Neumann knew he had given Warsaw her best chance to defend herself. The rest was down to the common Pole...
Like I said, this is just a little more helpful for the German's Rper as he knows how many troops he's facing, what weapons they have and how well defended the city is. This way he can give a more detailed post in relation to his own losses and attacks. Hope this helped.

Nuemann stood atop the steeple of a church in his local neighbourhood, he watced as the sun rose on the beauty that is the city of Warsaw, he knew the beauty couldn't last once the Germans arrived.
A soldier called up to him;
"Sir!"
It was his orderly, Cpl. Nikolai Rudinski, or "Nik" to his fellow soldiers.
"Sir, we have located the German Forces, they are approaching the City!"
Nuemann paused a moment, took a deep breath, his heart felt heavy, and he called back down,
"Tell the troops to make ready Corporal."
"Yes Sir."

OOC: Sorry to cut in again, but how many of my planes have you intercepted? What have you intercepted them with? Something simple like this:
Over the German Columns, Me109's and Me110's ruthless patrolled the skies to protect the Tanks from maruading Polish Bombers. At the same time, German bombers stepped up their efforts to ease the passage of their troops by pounding the Polish Lines. One such raid included twenty Stuka Dive Bombers and an escort of twenty-five Me109 fighters
That way I can RP the damage to my bombers and it lets me post an interception and dogfight between your bombers and my fighters.
And try and take things a little slower, you have got from the German border to Warsaw in less than 150 Posts, at this rate the RP will be over before Wanderjar can post.

"The Poles are in full retreat," Noted Hermann Göring, commander of the Luftwaffe, to himself. "Excellent, the Heer has done it's job." He paced about the war room at the Headquarters for the Oberkommando der Luftwaffe.
"What are your orders, herr Kommandant?" Asked one of the Air Marschals present.
Göring turned to the man and smiled. "My friend, we are going to pound those bastards into oblivion. Order the tactical bomber units to hunt down all fleeing enemy formations and destroy them. Once this has been achieved, we'll begin flying sorties over Warsaw and bomb enemy positions. Have the recon fliers head over the enemy locales so we can prepare bomb target lists for our pilots upon their return. Meanwhile, continue having the fighters fly air superiority sorties across the front. Do not allow any of those Poles to bomb our formations. The partisans have been fierce, I'm told. Well they've yet to experiance the full wrath of the mightiest Air Army to ever sail the skies! Keep our Close Air Support fighters moving across the front as well, hitting enemy positions and killing off their formations. We want to make them so weak before they reach Warsaw that they cannot hope to stand against the might of the Wehrmacht." He turned away from the map and then said, "Make it happen, gentlemen. Let's end this war."
Across the front air units pursued their Polish foes as they fled from German panzers. Heinkel 111 and Dornier 17 tactical bombers dropped dozens of heavy ordinance upon retreating infantry and armoured formations, and Ju-87 Close Air Support craft dropped bombs with precision onto enemy units as well. On this day, the fields of Poland would be littered with burning bodies and smoking hulks of metal.

Far from it, the failure of the Luftwaffe to hit the airfields on the first day meant that they had allowed the Polish Air Force to withdraw to hidden airbases scattered throughout the countryside.
Almost every German air attack was met by PZL P.11's and PZL. P.7's wherever possible. They used their superior manourverablility to position themselves in the sun and then dive on the formations of vulnerable and sluggish Divebombers before turning and engaging their fighter escorts.
The Medium bombers suffered the same fate, jumped by Polish Fighters, who used their smaller planes to position themselves and hit the Bombers head on, where they were less well armoured.
At the same time, more P.23 and P.37 Bombers targeted the German columns, suffering appalling losses to AA fire and the fighter escorts but they still bravely and valiently tried to carry out their mission.

The dive bombers suffered immensely, being slower than their Polish adversaries. However the enemy forces engaging the German bombers would find themselves in dire straights. Gun towers from the bombers erupted into fire as they churned out massive levels of weapons fire. Superior German BF-109s and FW-190s soared with them, cutting apart the inferior Polish units as they feebly attempted to fight the He-111s and Do-17s. If the Poles thought they could take on the Luftwaffe, they would be sadly mistaken. And this mistake would cost them dearly in terms of man power and machines.

IC:
While the Stukas were hit as hard as promised, the small and manourverable Polish Aircraft managed to evade the majority of the fire from the poorly armed He-111's and Do-17's. In dogfights, the Poles were not at as much as a handicap as the Germans had been led to believe, true they were not as fast or as well armed as their German counterparts but they were more manourverable and they could take a hell of a lot of punishment.
While some of the fighters engaged the German escorts the rest dived out of the sun to fire a burst at the enemy then dive down out of the war and prepare for another run at the Germans.

OOC: I am in Ireland so I am in different time zone to those of you who are in the Unted States.
Also I just wanted to say that I am sorry if my role playing wasn't very detailed or imaginative but I didn't really know what was expected since this is the first time I've done role play.
Okay, back to the story.
IC: Outline of the situation.
1) The German ground forces have occupied the south east of Poland and are trying to get to Warsaw, but are meeting fierce resistance along the way.
2) The German dive bombers were moslty destroyed by the Polish fighers, but we are now bringing in AA reinforcemnents.
3) The last German army that tried to advance from the north was driven back by the French Foriegn Legion (FFL). Now a new army is in Prussia to try advancing from the north for a second time.
IC: Details of the Warsaw situation (1).
The German ground forces only had limited success in bombing out the geurillas in the farms and villages and themselves suffered heavy losses. However one area has been cleared for advance and a so it being well guarded in the hope that they will not suffer a counter attack by enemy guerillas.
IC: Details of the situation in the Air (2).
There are few dive bombers now left to reinforce the losses and so short-range air support will not be avaliable to the Germans for a while now. There have also been some ground casualties due to the explosions of falling aircraft out of the sky. However renewed support from ground AA guns is on its way to aid the front line. This will hopefully hold back the Polish fighters so that bombimg by the Germans bombers will become possible again.
IC: Details of the Northern advancement (3).
We have ready with us another 10 battalions and 300 tanks with 500 guns. Instead of advancing straight to Warsaw from the north we will this time try to secure territories in north and north east Poland. In this area are the cites of Torun and Bialystok. Capturing these cites will be a step forward in our fight against the Polish guerillas.
