Belserbia

His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Rudolph Von Rothinheim VIII listened to the reports coming in from his closets advisors. The Imperial Court which comprised of all the high ranking nobles of the Empire of Belserbia. The Emperor sat upon his golden throne and listened to the assembled nobles and aristocrats taking their turns to address the Emperor about topics of various importance throughout the Empire from raising and lower taxes. to the current issue handling the refugees from some back water nation in a civil war that had immigrated into the Empire seeking safety.
“Your Imperial Highness! I ask you again to please deal with these invaders that have desecrated our beloved Empire!” Exclaimed the Duke of Valtanburg Karl Van Goreing III. The Duke was a large imposing figure with slick black hair and intense green eyes that seemed to pierce the soul of anyone he was trying to address.
The Duke had long since been against allowing these refugees into the Empire due to the fact they had come into his Duchy and had started to claim squatters rights on his private fields and had hunted in his private forests. This had deeply angered the highly aristocratic nobleman and he demanded the right to remove them from his territory.
The Duchess of Krechinheim Isabella Alerica II however interjected, “Your Imperial Highness, I must object to this proposal on the grounds that these people are homeless and sending your Imperial Legions to evict them out of the country, just sends them back to the arms of the genocidal dictator that forced them out in the first place!”
The Duke Karl Von Goreing III retorted, “These parasites have long since taken advantage of our good will. They have started to build unseemly camps on my lands and have even started to impose foreign ideas in the minds of my loyal serfs. I think it is only right to send them back to the outer world and let their new leader deal with them!”
The Duchess Isabella Alerica II tried to counter, “These people are simple folk that need to find a place to stay. We could always extend citizenship through military service or grant them plots of land to build farms on our fiefdoms. It could only help our Empire in the long run and we could avoid international scrutiny for brutally suppressing these people.”
The Duke Karl Von Goreing III snarled and replied, “These people are not Belserbian by birth or by allegiance. We have no need for them to defile our glorious Empire with their dangerous ideas of democracy and presidential elections. We have existed this way for several hundred years and we shall continue to do so until the end of time…”
The Emperor sighed and stood up from his throne and replied, “The Empire must be preserved from all threats. We have survived foreign invasions, political subterfuge, and economic hardship. We did this not by being benevolent to everyone, and we sometimes had to spill a little blood to ensure the survival of our people and our sovereignty. It is with a heavy heart that I must issue this decree that all foreign refugees must be deported back to their nation of origin.
The Empire of Belserbia is no longer willing to accept foreign interlopers into our Imperial domains and any foreigner caught entering into the Empire without proper permission shall be shot on sight. The distressed peasants that are already inside the Empire shall be given a choice to either serve in the legions for a term of five years and achieve citizenship or be deported out of the Empire post haste.”
The Duchess Isabella asked quietly, “What about the women and children? They cannot serve the legions, how can they earn the right to stay inside the Empire?”
The Emperor Rudolph glared and said firmly, “They don’t.”

The Duchy of Valtanburg………
Refugee Camp……
The rolling tracks of the Imperial Battle Tanks (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/ImperialHegemonicMainTank.jpg)could be heard as the 4th regiment of the Felix legion entered into the refugee camp. The sound of jackboots could be heard as the Legionaries marched in formation behind the advancing armor.
The downtrodden people looked upon the advancing men armed with submachine guns and rifles and realized the worst had come. The Empire of Belserbia had just expired their license to stay in the Duchy’s fields.
The Centurions advanced their platoons in an almost phalanx like formation as they entered the mass of tents and people. The sight of Legionaries picking out adult males for conscription into the Legions was common place along with the sight of women and children being rounded up like cattle towards advancing military trucks that would send them to the border of the Empire and dispose of them….
The fathers and old men that protested this action were promptly shot in cold blood and the sound of several gunshots could be heard causing fright and panic within the camp. This prompted many refugees and would be settlers to run for their lives. The tanks promptly targeted the fleeing refugees and fired their machine guns into the running mass. The bullets zipped into the running people killing several as they ran.
The Legionaries continued their methodical work of rounding up any refugees and sending them to be deported. The platoons that were not assigned to processing of the camp were given the task of guarding the camp and shooting anyone that tried to flee without authorization. This caused many deaths as entire families tried to flee into the countryside to avoid being separated at the point of gun..
The Field Marshal Henrich Von Swartzkeld watched the progress of his regiment from the safety of personal helicopter that was hovering overhead the refugee camp. He smiled at his regiments progress and promptly radioed to the Legion Commander that all was going well.
