Lord Sumguy twitched slightly in his sleep, mumbling something that was drowned out by the roar of the plane's engines around him. He and his family had borrowed the UK2 Prime Minister's private jet to travel to Pan-Arab Barronia for a vacation, and he had dozed off during the flight. His eyes flicked rapidly from left to right under his eyelids as he relived old memories.

It was a dark night, rain coming down in torrents as the inhabitants of the city went to sleep. A man was running down a street, turning into an alleyway only to trip and fall onto his face. He could hear footsteps as his two pursuers ran after him. He scrambled to his feet and ran on. What had been obscured by the rain turned out to be a brick wall, and the man let out a cry of terror as he came upon a dead end. Suddenly, a hand was at his throat, and he was slammed into the wall by a tall, hooded figure who held him there, covering his mouth, as another man walked slowly towards the two and began to speak.

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night, He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yeilds it's fruit in season, and whos leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."

The man drew a handgun from within his clothing, and continued: "Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish."

When he had finished, he pressed the barrel of the gun against the head of the man who had been fleeing him. "You have sinned against the Lord and your fellow man. Murder and rape, crimes of the highest order. You are a disgrace to humanity, and your sentence is death. May God have mercy upon your soul."

A gunshot rang out, and his victim slumped against the wall, his blood running down the bricks to be washed away by the rain.....

.....The mourners gathered around the coffin, in which a stunningly beautiful young woman lay, to pay their last respects. The sun shone brightly upon the group, as if to drown out their sorrow with light. Two men walked forward, and kneeled next to the body.

"I know there is nothing we can ever do to bring you back," The man who would one day be known as Lord Sumguy said, looking at the face of the woman. "but the man who did this to you will never harm anyone again."

The body seemed to shimmer, and the woman's features changed. Queen Hannah of the United Kingdom now lay in the casket, her skin pale and cold.

"No!" Lord Sumguy shouted as he was awakened by the dream. He looked around him, confused and breathing heavily, before he realized that he had been asleep. He leaned back in his seat, sighing in releif.

"What?!" The Hegemon said in a whisper, his eyes widening. "No, that is nonsense, your mother would never do anything like that. You really shouldn't make up stories about such things, Alex." He rubbed his eyes. That dream was so vivid, It was like I was actually nineteen again. "Please, let me rest a bit, I have a headache."

Hannah was siting with her bodyguard when she heard the scream but she didn't get up to check. Her bodyguard Sgt.Walker and her where talking quietly to themselves.

"Hannah you do know that your husband of yours is a bad influence on the children. I suggest you should send them to boarding school away from their father for awhile."

Sgt.Walker had stopped talking when he kissed Hannah on the check and then to her lips. She laughed when he tried to kiss her, she had never felt so alive during her marriage to Lord Sumguy and now this visit to Pan-Arab Barronia would bring such comfort to her and Sgt.Walker. They continued to kiss nd watch outside the window.

Meanwhile Alexandra ready to see Pan-Arab Barronia and their history and culture made it to her fathers seat and sat next to him. This was the first time she had seen him and she wanted to spend every minute with him. Alexandra knew both her father and her had a very strong bond with each other. So she knew her father would believe her what she was about to say to him.

"Dad I have something to tell you....Do you know the new bodyguard well him and mom have started an affair with each other and I saw them. Please believe me dad I'm telling the truth about this."

"What?!" The Hegemon said in a whisper, his eyes widening. "No, that is nonsense, your mother would never do anything like that. You really shouldn't make up stories about such things, Alex."

"Dad I'm not lying for goodness sakes! Please believe she's having an affair with her bodyguard. Why won't anyone believe me anymore!!". Alexandra ran out to find her brother she was sick and tired of it and wanted no part of the royal family anymore.

Meanwhile Hannah and Sgt.Walker had stopped talking with each but they both felt a bond of love for each other. Just before they where about to kiss Hannah's Press Secretary entered into the room. "Your Majesty I have your plan book for the royal tour I would like you to look over it. i shall go get Prince Sumguy".

The woman walked down to the Sumguy's room to get him and fill him on the details of the tour. "Prince Sumguy the Queen needs you for a moment please".


Meanwhile Pliot James MacDonald phoned into Barronia International Airport to land their aircraft. He could hear laughing and kissing next door to the room and wondered what was going on.

"Thank you for informing me." The Hegemon said, standing up and walking to where Hannah and Sgt. Walker were. Upon seeing them both in the same room so soon after what Alexandra had just said, he for a moment felt slighlty worried, but dismissed the emotion quickly. "What is it you need help with?" He asked with a warm smile.

"I don't know why your doing that Nathan. You look like a idiot doing that, no wonder mom had to put you public school...Anyway I need to tell you something. You know Sgt.Walker he's having an affair with mom and dad won't believe me but it's the truth".

Hannah had understood him, he was speaking sumguaian and couldn't believe her ears. But she just couldn't take it and it went past without her even knowing to listen to it. She carefully watched him leave the room and closed the door. Sgt.Walker and her continued their talk they where seven hours away from Pan-Arab Barronia.

Alex looked at her brother's face and she was worried right away. "What's wrong with you Nathan? Why don't you like Sgt.Walker? Did he don anything to you why you hate him so much?''

"He drinks too much." Nathan said. "And then he hits you, when you havent even done anyhting wrong."

Lord Sumguy walked back to his seat, and looked through the things he had brought with him until he found a small bottle of pain-relief medicine. He took one of the pills, and sat down. He was still exhausted, and gradually began to fall asleep again.

"Go tell dad that Nathan he listens to you since your younger". Alex sat next to her brother in their room it would be along night before they even landed.

Meanwhile both Hannah and Sgt.Walker had falen asleep in each other arms. The Queen dreamed of seeing both Sgt.Walker and her husband fighting each other until she saw Sgt.Walker shoot him. She quickly jumped out her sleep and walked out of the room. Hannah sat down in a seat close to her husband's room.

....A young Lord Sumguy looked at the map in front of him, frowning. "Do we have any clues as to where the 5th army will attack?" His eyes were sunken and he looked half-starved, an assault rifle laying next to him on the table. He was dressed entirely in white and red, as was everyone else in the room.

"No sir." A man next to him said. "We will just have to.."

He was interrupted as the door flew open. Everyone reached for their weapons, until they saw what was standing in the doorway. The man who would later be known as Captain Wall stumbled inside the room, entirely covered in drying blood.

"I killed them all." He mumbled, his eyes glazed over. "Ripped them apart with my bare hands...murdering scum...." He fell to his knees, staring at the people in front of him.

"Get a bed ready!" Lord Sumguy commanded, and several men rushed to obey him. He walked over to Wall and helped the man up. "By God, what did they do to you?"

"I wanted to die," Wall said, seemingly unaware of the question. "but they wouldn't let me. They...the pain...unbearable.."

"Lie down." Lord Sumguy said, and Wall obeyed. "It's over now, you are safe. Sleep.".......



.......Lord Sumguy coughed up blood, as explosions and gunfire rang out in the background. "Hold on." said Wall, who was carrying him. "I'm not going to let you die here. The medical station is just a bit further."

The future Hegemon smiled weakly, clutching at his chest, where a red stain was quickly spreading on his clothing. "It would be...most inconvenient..after all we've done.."

"Don't talk, old friend." Wall said. "I see the station, you are going to be fine. I'll never let anyone cause you pain like this again."

"An...impossible task...I think." Lord Sumguy said, with a laugh that turned into a cough, as he spit up more blood.

"Dad? Dad?" Nathan said, shaking his father awake.

"Huh? Whassat?" The Hegemon asked, momentarily confused as he awoke.

"You were talking in your sleep."

"Was I? How odd."

"You need to fire Mr. Walker." The child said matter-of-factly. "He is a bad man, and I don't like him. He even hit me, when i wasnt even doing anything. I liked Captain Wall much better, he was nice to us."

"What?" Lord Sumguy said, then became suspicious. "Did your sister put you up to this? "

"It's the truth!" His son said defiantly.

"Listen to me, you shouldn't go around making up stories about people, that's a very bad thing to do." The Hegemon said. "I'm sure Mr. Walker has all of our best interests at heart."

"Whatever!" Nathan said, walking off in a huff.

Lord Sumguy yawned and stretched out across his seat. After a moment, he stood up, and walked out of the room. Spotting his wife through an open doorway, he walked into the room she was occupying. "Something wrong?"

OOC: I'm getting there, I'm getting there. Busy weekend from a work point of view, reports and thesi (or whatever the plural of thesis is) to read left, right and centre.

Right, lets see. I'll come up with an itinerary soon, as I didn't outline one - will probably do it on the bus tomorrow. Will let you know.

However, a few etiquette ground rules which you should be familiar with:

Unless the Chancelloress gives leave (which she probably will to selected persons), she should be referred to as Your Excellency/Ma'am. She in turn will refer to you by your titles unless given leave to.
Fighting in the residencies will probably get someone close to being stabbed, slashed, or halbardiered. Nothing personal, but the Imperial Guardsmen are there to protect the life of the Chancelloress, and that includes a missed punch or a fight acting as a diversion. The fact that you are visitors makes no difference to the commander, although he'd probably get a good ticking off.
Generals are referred to as Sir/Madam or by their rank, Magistrates (high-ranking ministers and diplomats) as Your Emmissary. You'll probably be given permission to use their names, but it's good for introductions.

Now then. Lets get down to business.

All was abuzz at St John's International Airport. Most air traffic had been cleared to allow the Second United Kingdom jet to come through unhindered. All that was left was a few airships mooring, one of which was the Spirit of St Paul, which would take the arrivals to the Chancelloress's residency for their first evening.

In the air, on an intercept course, was a squadron of F/A-15 Cardinals - Barronia's ASF of choice for important visitors. They would escort the plane to St John's over Misenae, through one of the busiest sky routes in Barronia.

Back at the airport, Magistrate Amelie Carpentier-St Claire was waiting nervously for the Lord and Lady to arrive. Watching the various vehicles speed on the tarmac in preparation, she remembered that she was the first person they would see on the tarmac and the last they would see when they left.

The tower had radioed in, reporting that the UK2 aircraft was on schedule, and on their radar - it would not be long for landing.

The pliot saw the landing strip and put on the landing gears for the jet. After hours of flying The Royal family had made it to Pan-Arab Barronia at last, Queen Hannah watched as the jet landed and turned to face the entrance of the airport.

Sgt.Walker got their opened the jet door for them and one by one the family of four walked out. Sgt.Walker followed behind carrying their bags for them. The Queen carefully watched to see if anyone would come to greet them but she didn't see anyone.

"Shit! Where's that car?"

"Ma'am, it's here."

"Well, damnit, let me in!"

A car came roaring across the tarmac toward the jet, and a rather embarrassed-looking Amelie with her guard stepped out.

"Ah, your Highness, I presume. Magistrate Carpentier-St Claire, at your service. Our traffic control appears to have directed you to the wrong spot...how embarrassing indeed."

She pointed to a spot not 500 yards away, where the Imperial Guard were standing, alongside a full military band - all looking rather bemused.

"Erm, perhaps you'd like to enter the car - we'll attempt the introduction again. There will be vehicles for your luggage and men."

"Your Majesty Magistrate Carpentier-St Claire. And thank you for your welcome". The Queen and her family and Sgt.Walker walked into the car and settled themselves down and relax for the first time in hours.

"Magistrate Carpentier-St Claire what's first on our agenda right now. I hope it's not more flying".

"Amelie will do fine, your Majesty - I can appreciate my name is a bit of a mouthful - whyever I picked hyphenation when I married is beyond me.

However, onwards - there will be some more flying, but it will be a short flight across the city - but through a rather unusual, but far more comfortable and spacious medium. If you'll look to the left, you'll understand."

The car passed into the shadow of a rather large, sausage-shaped object - the gas bag of an airship. Her silver gondola, proudly displaying the name "Spirit of St Paul" and hovering 3 metres above the ground, stretched the length of the bag, with glass panels at various points. A Barronian flag, suspended from underneath the rear of the Gondola, fluttered in the breeze crossing the tarmac.

Whilst the family looked at the airship, Amelie busied herself with her PDA - making sure a second attempt at a welcome at the Residency was successful.

"Woah!" Nathan exclaimed, gaping at the airship. "Do we get to ride in that?"

"It would appear so." His father said, laughing as he ruffled the boy's hair.

"All right!"

"Alrighty then. Amelie I want to make an request, I was wondering if I could make a speech to your government's elected chamber?" Queen Hannah looked outside the window and wa shocked to see something like that. She quickly showed Sgt.Walker and they began to laugh as they continued looking at the airship. Alex didn't even stare at it and hated the idea of even riding in an airship. She would rather fly in a plane but she didn't want to upset their host nation and kept her mouth closed.

"Cheer up." Lord Sumguy said to his daughter, smiling. "We are on vacation after all."

"I don't really care about any vacation dad;I would rather be back home then be with mom and her boyfriend or with you".

"Do not slander your mother or Walker, child." The Hegemon said, the smile fading from his face. "I am afraid you just earned yourself a lecture on courtesy and social responsibility. I will speak with you on the matter later."

"I am the Hegemon, I must put my duty to the billions of citizens of the Hegemony first. All else is secondary, wether I wish it to be or not." Lord Sumguy said. "Please, stop these accusations, they are complete nonsense." He settled back into his seat. "They must be." He continued, his voice a barely audible whisper. He looked at Hannah and Walker for a moment with, then shook his head slightly and dismissed the thought.

"Yeah don't care about your children at all. When my friends ask where or what my father does I have to tell them he's missing you know what that makes me feel like! It's unfair you have to do this and spend no time with me or Nathan so let's just not talk at all with each other during this trip". and with that Alex turned her head and continued to watch the airship.

"I did not choose to be captured." Lord Sumguy said, looking at Alex, his expression sorrowful. "There is nothing I want more than to be able to spend all of my time with you, Nathan, and your mother." He fell silent, frustration evident on his face.

Alex just ignored him and watched out the window she was tired of it now and wanted to leave her family. By now everyone was outside waiting to jump into the airship but Queen Hannah and Sgt.Walker wanted to be alone and waited in the car for a few minutes before they entered the airship.

"I hope I have not missed them!"

Roger Carpentier had been told about his wife meeting with Queen Hannah and Lord Sumguy and he felt saddened that he may have missed them. After some research, he discovered that they were at the airship landing area, so he quickly got dressed into one of his suits and rode in a limosuine to the area. He walked calmly out of the car and smiled at the guests. "Greetings. My name is Roger Carpentier and I represent the Kingdom of Skamania and Duloc. I trust you have met my wife, Amelie."

He stood there silently, restraining any feelings of nervousness within him, hoping that they would accept him. Roger did not worry about Amelie; he was sure his own wife would allow him to come with them. "Your Majesties, it is a pleasurable honor to meet you both. It is also a pleasure to meet your children. I hope that you have had a good day here in Pan-Arab Barronia."

"I assure you sir, the pleasure is all ours." Lord Sumguy replied with a friendly smile, extending his hand to be shaken.

Roger firmly shook Lord Sumguy's hand and smiled. "I am thankful that I could meet you, sir. You may not know my nation but I hope we can change that today. My wife, Amelie, has probably been a good tour guide but I already knew that."

Roger smiled at Amelie before he looked at Lord Sumguy. "I see you are going on this airship. You know, I was on an airship when I visited with Prince Sebastien, the son of King Louis II of Skamania and Duloc. He is married to Barronia's leader, Chancelloress Santina. You should enjoy the airship, sir."

Amelie had watched the small argument between father and daughter with concern. Try to keep those two away from each other, methinks. Last thing I need is a family crisis on my hands.

"Roger! Wonderful you're here. Nice to see you're getting yourself acquainted at least. And I'm surprised you don't remember this particular airship - it was where we really go to know each other..." Amelie gave him a quick peck on the cheek, before getting back to business.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, all aboard! The captain is waiting, and he'll ensure you're given the full welcome."

"I do remember this particular airship, Amelie and I mentioned to Lord Sumguy how it was where we got to know each other." Roger smiled as he extended his hand. "We should get on board now and give Lord Sumguy and Queen Hannah an aerial tour of the city."

Queen Hannah made sure her children where boarded on to the airship before she and Sgt.Walker boarded with them. Queen Hannah for the first time went next to her husband and started talking with him.

"If the children have been telling you lies there untrue and I do hope you believe me. If you don't that is your problem because I'm tired of this and I want it to stop."

"Well, your Majesty, you say elected...the Barronian government hasn't been elected in years. We're an autocratic meritocracy now. However, you are welcome to give a speech to the current leaders of the various ministries and their seconds - some 38 ministers in all"

Roger silently listened to the conversations as he walked into the airship with the others. Sitting next to his wife on the airship, he looked at Amelie with a smile. "I think it would be good for Queen Hannah and her family to go to the observation deck to see the city, Amelie."

"Tired of what?" Lord Sumguy responded, confused. "Of course I don't beleive them, they are obviously trying to get Sgt. Walker fired. I think it may be because they still miss Wall, and don't want anyone else trying to replace him."

"I'm tired of you working day and night and you are barely home. How do you think that makes me feel? Your children are just like you and I can't stand it! Maybe we leave each other to fulfill our duties....."

"It's hard enough being away from you for such long periods of time as it is, I don't think I could bear not being able to see you altogether." He paused for a moment as he remembered something. "In fact, I had forgotten to tell you, I'm planning to move my office to the Second United Kingdom, so that I will be able to spend much more time with you and the kids."

"My first visit here? Prince Sebastien had decided to go on a World Tour like you and your husband I was chosen to accompany him. Barronia was one of the nations that we would visit. During the visit, Sebastien and Santina fell in love and later married and as for Amelie, I spent time with her during my visit to Barronia and later married her. Our first activity that we participated in during the visit was an aerial tour of Misenae aboard the Spirit of St. Paul.

"That is so amazing. My husband and I courted at the Buckingham Palace before we got married even through I wish we could have done something else".

"To be honest, Sebastien and I were surprised that we would marry Amelie and Santina; we never expected that we would marry them but we love our Barronian wives. It is nice that I could meet you and your husband, Hannah and I hope that you and your family enjoy your visit to Barronia."

Lord Sumguy continued to stare at the scenery below him, until he felt a tug on his clothing. Nathan was standng next to him.

"Dad! I cant see anything!"

"Well, we will have to fix that, wont we?" The Hegemon replied, smiling and kneeling down for a moment so that the child could climb onto his shoulders, and standing up again. Nathan laughed exitedly as he looked around him in wonder, his arms resting on the top of his father's head.

Hannah and Alexandra went together to look out on to the city. "Mom why does dad hates being royal?" Hannah just smiled at her and laughed, "Alexandra your father believes in real democracy that doesn't have an upper class like royalty which he feels is unfair to the people". Alexandra didn't say a word for minutes but started to laugh.

Nathan's face took on a serious expression as he leaned forward to look at his father, turning his head upside-down in the process.

"Dad, can I quit being a prince if I want to? All the kids at school act weird to me just because I'm your son."

"I'm afraid not." Lord Sumguy replied, laughing at the suggestion. "I can't either, it's your mother's fault."

"Why not? I don't wanna be royal!"

"You and me both. Unfortunately for us, there is nothing we can do about it, so you are going to have to accept it at some point."

"But I don't wanna be a prince! I wanna be a fireman, or an astronaut!"

"Maybe you can be all three." The Hegemon said, chuckling.

"Really? Wow!" Nathan said, and got a faraway look in his eyes as he tried to imagine what that would be like.
