Geography
Largely barren landscape. The surface is peppered with deep canyons and high mountains. Absolutely no vegetation can be found on the surface. Several large forests of fungi can be found, however, near the scattered lakes on the planet. With the exception of the lakes and forests, the whole planet is just a big rock.
Government
Hive-like. There is a set hierarchy of positions within the 'hive'. At the top, a single Queen, whose responsibility is to launch spores into space and continue the colony on her designated planet. Underneath the Queen, are an unnamed position as of yet. They are responsible for maintaining and ruling the colony. There are six per colony, and each one has an equal responsibility in maintaining the continuation of the colony.
People and Population
The Queen- The Queen is an enourmous creature. Mature Queens can often grow to about sixty feet in height, and weigh up to fifteen tonnes. Colours usually vary from planet to planet. The homeworld's Queen is shaded in black and green. About six jointed legs support the Queen, and a large gaping mouth guarded by two mandibles are its only limbs. There is one Queen per planet the Arachnii colonize on. The Queen is responsible for launching salvos of spores into space via its bulbeous spore-filled abdomen so that other planets can be colonized by the Arachnii Empire. (Reference: fly larva)
The Hands of God- Numbering from six to twenty per colony, these shady insects are the key figures in the colony. While the Queen launches spores, the Hands of God run the colony. Each individual is given its own sector in the colony to run as it sees fit. They are large creatures, often standing at twenty feet in height. They are thin and nimble, with two bulbeous eyes, a tiny mouth with several smaller mandibles, and scythe-like arms with serrated edges. (Reference: Praying mantis)
Warriors- The military of each colony, the Warriors are fear incarnated. Each Warrior differs, depending on the planet. On Uthandle, the behemoths are a dull grey shade, their exoskeletons blending in perfectly with their rocky landscape. Standing at three metres on height, the Warrior was bred for only one purpose: To kill. It s constantly looking for something to kill for food for the colony, or to kill something that may be a threat to itself or its colony. Two sword-like mandibles are situated on either side of its elongated head, and its powerful vertical jaws make this thing extremely dangerous. Workers- The absolute bottom of the colony. Their jobs are to construct the colonies' nests and fortifications. Depending on the planet, they work both above or below the surface. They use whatever resources they have available to them in order to contruct the colony. Once the planet has been completely colonized, they are used as a food source for the other classes. They are the most abundant of all the Arachnii. Standing at only a foot high, and three feet long, they resemble giant cockraches. (Reference: Cockroach)
