Yanitarian News Wire

Recently a man belonging to a secret government military organization called Les Enfants Perdus, claims to be the assassin responsible for the death of President Mattias Norheim.

He claims that he, and several other members of his platoon were tasked with the murders of many government officials, including the destruction of the newly rebuilt Parliament building with all of Parliament.

Protestors hit the capitol, calling for the end of Baudoin's presidency, and immediate elections. Baudoin has comprimised and allowed elections to take place, with himself at the head of the main party. Notable candidate is President Norheim's son, Frederick Norheim.

Baudoin: Head of the United Party of Yanitaria, a semi-fascist state capitilist oligarchy, which has a fair amount of support from conservative Yanitarians.

Frederick Norheim: Head of the newly formed Monarchist Party, which want to bring back the Monarchy of Yanitaria. His ideals include most of the plans championed by his father, and to some extent, the economic plans introduced by Baudoin. Liked by those who favored Mattias Norheim being President for Life, and loved by the young girls of Yanitaria.

Jeremy Sawyer: Head of the Capitalism NAO! Party. Declared mentally unstable from a young age, and a known puppy kicker.

Douglas Hendrikson: Leader of the Communist Party of Yanitaria. Actually more of a socialist, and a favorite to win by many students.

The news of the most recent events in Yanitaria had just hit the Errikan press, and the Head of the Nation was among the first to hold the news.

“What bothers me is that this is printed before we even hear about it!”

Thachman’s concern was not what gave Christian pause; for him, it seemed appropriate, it seemed the situation had come full circle. Norheim had seemed a good man, but he had made use of this organization; his fatal flaw had been this underhanded treachery, as it had ultimately turned on him and destroyed him. His successor had been his destroyer, the man who had turned this treachery against Norheim. This Baudoin had not shared his predecessor’s nobility, and took this underhandedness, which Norheim had only flirted with, had only really used for national interest, and became comfortable with it, used it as a personal political tool. And now that he had fully secured his power through those means, honesty had destroyed it—one of the tools of the treachery had come forward, had broken the dishonest circle that had been started by Norheim and in so doing broke his successor, who had bathed in it.

Of course, who’s to say that it will end him? He is a runner in the election.

“Never mind that now, Senator,” General Warrenburg said, rising from his seat and crossing the room to the Emperor, “What we need now is a government stance on this.”

They were a bit taken aback by this new High Military Councilman’s boldness; typically, they would not be so intrepid in dealing with senators, particularly Robert Thachman, the head of the senate, the core of the national government, the head of the NR, the major party of the nation, the party of the Errikan Alliance.

I knew I liked him, the Emperor thought. He considered Robert a friend, but this General’s boldness entertained him, and showed him to be the sort of man that was needed in his position.

“Mr. President,” he said after a moment’s pause, watched intently by all in the room, turning to President Knox, “Do you believe that we need to take a stance on this election, to support a candidate?” This question was a formality; he knew Knox, and Knox knew him. It was his own belief, vehemently denied by the President, that if Christian were not there Knox could do the whole job well.

“I believe that our honor lies there, at least to an extent,” he said softly, in his typical methodical manner, “Given your . . . our . . . prior involvement there, with this specific series of events.”

“Right.”

“So we must at least establish that we are watching, establish our general position now.”

“And that will give us a little time to see things before we decide on a candidate?” Senator Thachman broke in. Both Knox and Christian, slightly taken aback at the Senator’s interjection, though not showing it, turned to him and said in unison:

While the Northern Rangerian government is shocked to hear of the possibility of foul play in the USSY political climate in the past, we will not entangle ourselves with Yanitarian domestic politics. He was surprised at the happenings in Yanitaria but not shocked. politics was a dirty business, which was why the Federation had been a one-party state. This Norheim who was the frontrunner intrigued Boncayao. according to their embassy in Halsanki the North Rangerians looked upon his father as an honorable yet pragmatic leader now the younger Norheim wishes to continue his father's policies. He sighed, the world needed more men with his nobility. After a few minutes with these thoughts in his head, he sent for his private secretary. Hours later a courier arrived at the Monarchist Party's campaign headquarters carrying a check for $500,000 personally signed by Ferdinand Boncayao.

Though the highest officials, knowing of the validity of Les Enfants Perdus, know that the claims must be true, the official position will likely be somewhat skeptical that the full accusations are true, as we typically like to err on the side of "innocent until proven guilty."

On the Socialist Monarchy note, it is quite possible, assuming we define socialism as the typical statist leaning mixed economic model (or even a centrally planned economy) with accompanying social programs, which do not in any way conflict with monarchism. If we are literal with "socialism," then it would be any ideology that thinks in terms of the society rather than the individual, or any other social unit. This also works with a monarchy. But I'll stop the random, off topic tangent now.

OOC: The anti-capitalist(mutualist free market =/= capitalist free market) and anti-State radicalism furthered by some people inside Third Spanish States is for now, an IC Secret, though people can easily deduce its existence. Also I'm full of doing only quick and half-baked diplomatic messages.

Following the news, Raul Hermano Mahez, the man who suggested the new conditions for international aid to candidates in representative democracies couldn't help but feel a weight on his conscience, believing he was the guilty one for leading Douglas Hendrikson to commit suicide. In fact since this event he refused to participate into politics again and resigned his right of using the DiploNet, becoming more and more introspective. But before leaving politics behind forever he gave a last suggestion: he claimed that no matter for what ends, supporting candidates was a complete deviation on the anarchist principles his nation was founded into, that the only political platform Third Spanish States should support should be the "None of the Above" option instead, and that all forms of representative governments become corrupted, and no matter if funding might bring future economic benefits to his nation, they are this way encouraging corruption and soon this would lead them to forfeit their own direct democratic government as the essential ideological foundations were being slowly corrupted. His 80-page essay criticizing the funding of overseas political campaigns and pointing the inherent flaws which make the term "representative democracy" an oxymoron and its briefed 8-page version soon became widespread through the Internet and not much later would become the foundation of a new book of anarchist ideology.

Very few took such effort to stand for what they thought that was better for their communes, and it served as a seed of awakening to the minds who took the principles of "The Prince" too far on foreign relations issues. Thus we would like to ask whether the form of Monarchy you stand for is absolutist, constitutional or parliamentary and your stance on the currently existing civil rights in Yanitaria. Greetings, my name is Raul Hermano Mahez and I am the man who suggested the new update on the foreign politics funding policies of Third Spanish States, based only on our own selfish interests of retaining our money back to reduce the risks of losses in such support campaigns. I am very sad to discover that my proposal, which was approved by most of our voting people led to the death of Douglas Hendrikson and it pains me deeply to know of his suicide. Since then the burden in my conscience became heavier and heavier and our people aren't either very easy with such news. Indeed, Baudoin was a dictator, and needed to be stopped. With only three presidents in our history, it is no small wonder that he was swept out like so much dust.

As for your fears, the monarchy will act in much the same way as the previous government. I will be the king, and the line will pass down to my son or daughter. I will allow the people to elect a prime minister, who will serve in much the same capacity as a vice president. Parliament and the Supreme Court will remain intact.
