"Hey Michael what are you doing?" said little Johnny Fredrickson as he saw his friend Michael Roberts, a much older, infamous explorer and ex-marine who lived at the egde of town.

"Well little Johnny I am going on an expedition. The place is called the North Pole. It is very cold up there. I will be going with a few friends of mine and some strangers to look for stuff."

"Will you be looking for Sant Clause?!" said the little boy excidedly hearing the North Pole, home of Santa, being mentioned.

"Ah yes Johnny I will be looking for him, say if I do find him I will take a picture and give it to you. Okay?"

"Okay and tell em that I want a new Space Battle action figure."

"Okay sonny." and Michael ruffled his hair around and posted another paper to the electric pole while Johnny ran off screaming, "Yay Michael's going to meet Santa!"

After posting flyers all around town and talking to the cities mayor to send a message to other nations to come over and travel into the frigid north. He had gotten a labour team by talking to the old rusted sailor in the corner of the tavern. It turns out he needed a job as well as old friends of his who used to do what Michael was needing them to do now. He only got two other responses to his flyers and his random conversations to the men who looked fit and ready for an adventure. The two people that answered were Jerry Strike, a rough strong man who was about 40 years old, and Andrew Wodrif, a twenty-five year-old who served in wartime as a foot soldier.

Three days later he recieved a message from the city council.

To Mr. Michael Roberts,

Your request has been taken care off. Your message has been sent.

Pax Securia Headquarters,
Illesia City, Alversia

The city was quiet. Of course it was, everywhere's quiet at 4:30 in the morning. Nearly the entire city was dark as people relaxed and slept peacfully in their beds. However at 1003 Freedom Road (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ac/Bucharest_modern_building_2.jpg/800px-Bucharest_modern_building_2.jpg) there was always someone up. The building was lit in almost every window as Explorers, Mercenary and Raiders conducted research or finished reports or tried to evaluate previous missions. One of these was Alexander Cavourna.

He was sitting in his office staring at the familiar view across the road and onto the silky black river that run through the centre of the capital. Perched behind his desk and buried under a mountain of reports, charts, bills of purchase, news reports, evaluations and other items, the experienced Raider sighed and annotated the report he had currently pinned onto the only square of his desk not carpeted in paper. The report was boring, something about artifacts in North Calaveras and the chances of mining them. It was a boring mundane assignment, one he had allocated to a newer Raider and let him accomplish it.

Alexander Cavourna was Assistant-Director of the Raiders Section within Pax Securia. A private Alversian Firm that rented various services, including protection, Mercenaries and military advisors. As one of the side-shows however, it also helped countries to find various treasures or recover resources that would help an economy.

It was at this moment that Natasha Hart, one of his most competant Raider/Explorers, knocked on the glass door and entered the room. She was clutching a single piece of paper. Cavourna sighed and rubbed his eyes as he attempted to focus on the new task.

"Anything good?" The younger Doctor asked him

"Nah, just a load of crap about Kansiov and one of the Merc Brigades there. What's that?"

"A paper about a new proposition that may be of interest to you"

Cavourna groaned, "Is it more paperwork?"

"No...well, yes. But it's a mission to the north. An explorer's looking an iinternational team to go with him to 'discover archeological finds and solve new mysteries'. What do you think?" She asked him, lowering the paper.

"Give me it" Cavourna leaned over and took the paper from Natasha and glanced over it, "Have you told the Guild about it?"

"Yeah, I spoke to Carlos about it. He said he would run it through in the morning"

"Fine, I might as well go too then. You?" He asked

"Yeah, sounds interesting. Shall I pen an official reply?"

"Get on it. I'll finish this paperwork and join you later"

Natasha smiled and backed out of the office. Cavourna sighed and picked up the next paper on his desk. It was thick, well over a hundred pages and was about nothing at all really. Something about weapons evaluation. He shook his head and picked up the cup of coffee that was keeping him from dropping where he sat.

Porto Populi Harbor, Third Spanish States South Coast, 10:15 AM

Mary Delacroix, she was just an average hispano-saxon woman in appearance who would feel at home in Paris, London or Madrid, but in knowledge she was an anthropologist and archaeologist, with her luggage filled with arctic clothing wrapped around a .357 Desert Eagle and a few magazines as she was about to request for a ship that would come to bring her to her destination. With her was the young, also average, hispanic miner, or more exactly, engineer of mining machines and prospector, known as Salomon Sevilla, and belonging to the Yuppies of Third Spanish States wealthiest cooperatives, he wasn't unarmed either, carrying a similar Desert Eagle pistol as well and a bunch of magazines. Another somewhat older man accompanied her at her left, with golden eyes glimmering with ambition and coldness and carrying an FA-65 Assault Rifle with its stock folded inside one his luggages. He was an athletic and somewhat tall hispanic man, which worked in the past as a soldier for the Army and as a mercenary for both legitimate and not so legitimate organizations operating inside his nation. His name was Pedro Almazar.

They were discussing endlessly on what should be their priorities. Pedro and Salomon wanted that exploration to be focused on the seeking of wealth, including oil, while she wished it to be a scientific expedition instead.
After thirty minutes of discussion they finally found it convenient to not prioritize either of them and instead act according to what is firstly discovered.
Then Mary simply opened her notebook, as there was one thing still left before the ship arrival. She simply sent a message to Doctor M. Roberts

FROM: Mary Delacroix, from Third Spanish States Unofficial Arctic Team
TO: Doctor M. Roberts
SUBJECT: Request to join the Expedition

Greetings, we are a small 3-people team which became interested in your expedition and would like to request a transport to the city of Porto Populi, located at the South Coast of Third Spanish States as indicated in the annexed map with this message. Our team is composed by myself, writer of this message, archaeologist and anthropologist with 15 years of both academic and field experience, by the young but talented mining engineer and prospector Salomon Sevilla, who started his professional activities prematurely with 16 years old and now has 6 years of experience and by the trustworthy, alert and highly efficient security expert and assistant Pedro Almazar, who has served 6 years in Third Spanish States Army, and has more 6 years of experience as an independent military consultant as well. He can do his best to keep our safety. Also, I hope you'll have no problem to the fact all of us will bring firearms to the expedition, they being 2 .357 Desert Eagle pistols and 1 6.5mm Grendel FA-65 Assault Rifle, plus some magazines for them, because firearms in our nation are more popular than in most other nations, as there is no gun control laws and everybody here is considered a potential volunteer for police work and is expected to be able to defend themselves to an extent against both criminals and in the case of a war, invaders.

With this in mind, we hope our request will be accepted and that we won't have to come in unarmed.

With Regards

Doctor Mary Delacroix
