We are planning a massive increase and rebuilding of our country's rail network, nearly doubling its size (See Map (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/nx9100/railmap.jpg)) . At the same time, we also plan to begin replacing our powerful Class 51D (http://www.freewebs.com/steamfans/DSC01006_0100.jpg) steam locomotives, which are currently used for hauling heavy freight trains, and our Class 38A (http://www.modelworks-int.com/asp/Hudson.jpg) steam locomotives, used for lighter freight and passenger trains, with diesel-electric power. This decision was based on the cost savings due to fuel, maintinance, and enviromental concerns, such as exhaust and noise polution.
Prototype diesel-electric locomotives have been built and tested, and we have chosen two models. The first, Class DE-7, is for use on small, lighter trains. It features a single diesel engine rated at 1,240HP. The second, Class DE-10, is intended for heavy freight work, and features two engines rated at 2,400HP each. However, tests showed that both are underpowered.

(Prototype DE-10 and two DE-7's pulling a test freight) (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/nx9100/dd40x.jpg)

We are asking for assistance in building these units for our rail network. The requirements are simple:
-New engines for both models (DE-7, 3500HP / DE-10, 6500HP)
-Extreme measures taken to limit exhaust and noise polution
-Heavy duty electric traction motors capable of handling steep mountain grades

At this time, we are NOT looking to run all-electric trains. Delkorian Laws prevent running overhead wires or third-rail cunductors. Only offers for diesel generator engines for use in our locomotives will be considered. The current projections are for 430 DE-7's and 150 DE-10's. We will accept demenstration engines for testing, and will decide bassed on fuel economy, available horsepower, exhaust/noise polution, and cost. Thank you.

Tienda del coche offers a special "Custom Design" service which allows new and established customers to acquire biodiesel, biodiesel-electric and electric engines manufactured on measure for their needs. Should you be interested, TdC can estimate the engine displacement to be developed for reaching a certain maximum speed, all we need for that is the total or average weight of the vehicle or train with full load.

the twin engines on the de-10 must develope a max speed of 70mph, while the de-7 will require a speed of 90mph. de-10's are for use on heavy ore trains, while the de-7's are for general cargo and light passenger work. we will accept examples for testing, leading to a possible contract.

First of all, congratulations on your plans to go diesel electric. Our nation attempted this a few years back but we, too, are planning a change with our rail systems of recent.

We currently have 125 used diesel-electric motors at our disposal. The reason for this is our decision last year to convert to a complete bio-diesel system running off of a 90/10 hemp-diesel mixture. The motors we have are each rated at 5,000HP although they are awesomely silent. Unfortunately we are unable to assist you with train frames/bodies due to the simple conversion process we chose to go with, using the old trains and retrofitting them with the new engines.

Over the next 3 years we plan to complete the conversion. We are only able to convert 125 trains a year and there are 500 trains in our fleet, leaving 125 excess motors in our roundhouses each year.

Our suggestion to you is to buy our used motors at a moderate price and subcontract other nations to aid in the construction of frames, bodies and rail-work. We wish we could do more but are not in the financial situation to aid in such foreign development. At least our used motors would save you a little off the top of the cost of a national rail makeover.

If you are interested in purchasing the motors for your disposal, please send us a telegram. Our nation's website is www.nationstates.net/DJ_Enduro.

VLT Railway Technologies

VLT Railway Technologies is a leading entity in the production of railway vehicles in Van Luxemburg. While the Van Luxemburger national railways hardly use diesel-electric locomotives anymore, we still produce a small amount of them every year to cater to freight railways and for the replacement of older engines.

Our proposal is to outfit both the DE-7 and DE-10 with the same engine. It will be a ERV12-C19, a 12-cilinder Vee-layout engine with a total capacity of 54 liters. The engine will deliver some 3800 HP, or around 2.83 MW at some 1500 rpm. The base will be constructed out of aluminium and feature a quad-turbochargers setup to provide more power. The injection will be done common-rail injectors, able to inject diesel at a pressure of 1800 Bar.

The ERV12-C19 can feature 'clean' technologies by means of Selective Catalytic Reduction, or SCR, mainly by injecting AdBlue into the exhaust. This will eliminate NOx output by up to 80%. A Particle filter and Exhaust Gas Recirculation have also been added. We are confident we can achieve the Euro 6 norm with this engine. The ERV12-C19 can run on biofuels, with little to no consquences for the power production. We estimate that the engine will use around 600 litres per hour at 1000 rpm.

In the DE-7, the engine will be installed as a single unit, while the DE-10 will use two engines. They will be controlled by an advanced ECU, which can make sur ethe engine is used as effectively as possible. We estimate that the price for these engine units will be at around $400,000 a piece. This makes the cost for the two engines on a DE-10 $800,000 USD.

The company has decided to release two prototype models, all of which can fit your specifications, for your testing in locomotives.

The first engine, the R07-7d 3600, is a diesel engine generating approximately 3620hp on normal diesel and 3690hp on biodiesel, using 16 cylinders with a total of 64 litres capacity. Exhaust gases are filtered using a two-stage catalytic conversion unit as well electro-static gas filters for removing most particulate matter from exhaust gases. We would reccomend this for use on the DE-7 in combination with a custom-built Alfegos Aeronautics Output suite, that includes everything you would find between engine and wheels, built to work in harmony with the engine.

The second engine, while it does not follow your design specifications of a diesel, is nonetheless an intriguing idea that may find acceptance on your railways.
The RHc06-2 is a hydrogen-fired engine, using a mix of 1:4 Hydrogen to Air for the production of power. It generates a total of 3910 hp, using 16 cylinders with a capacity of 72 litres.
You may argue that there is not enough space for fuel: we can prove you wrong. Using an area of approximately 50 m^3 of tanks inside and under the locomotive, a total of 5000 m^3 can be stored in approved cylinders under a pressure of around 100 bar.
The engine comes complete with an enhanced coolant system to cater for the needs of the changed fuel, as well as NOx filters on the exhaust gas and a full fire supression system on both the tanks and the engines to stop any destructive fires.

Our offers on prices are $310 000 for the diesel, and $520 000 for the hydrogen engine.

After extensive testing, have reached a decision on which motors will be purchased for use in our new locomotives:

The VLT Railway Technologies ERV12-C19 will power the DE-7. It was chosen for its smaller size, higher horsepower, and easy maintainence. To fill our requirement, 450 engines will be ordered for a total price of $180,000,000.

The Alfegos Aeronautics R07-7d 3600 will be purchased for a different project, the DE-12a and DE-12b (http://www.zuckerfabrik24.de/eisenbahn/pic3/F3_3sf.jpg)(booster), designed for medium-speed passenger trains. At this time, we will only require 32 engines, for 20 A units and 12 B units. The total price is $9,920,000.
Also, we will continue testing the RHc06-2 hydrogen engine. At this time, it is to complex for our crews to opperate and maintain. However, once experience has been gained, we may use it for future DE models.

Finally, we have another request. The DJ_Enduro engine was the most impressive in power and performance, and was selected for use in the DE-10. However, it lacks the emission performance of the other test engines. Therefor, we would like to have VLT fit these engines with their 'clean' technologies. This will allow it to pass emissions requirements, and provide the power needed so only two DE-10's can replace a single Class-51D Steam engine.

The order has been confirmed for the engines, and comes to the price you rightly said. We wish to remind you that the engines will be sent insured to you for no extra charge for the next 15 years.

On the subject of the hydrogen engines, we can send a team of engineers to instruct you as to the safe repairing and operation of the engine, since we do believe that your crews will require high levels of experience from the makers to maximise the life of the engine and stop any possibility of "accidents" which have been known to occur.
We reccomend until your crew have been trained by our engineers that they do not attempt to dismantle any of the sealed components, to prevent catastrophic damage to both the engine and the crew, and to maintain the 15 years insurance.

We have received your telegram and are most pleased with your decision. Our nation feared that we would have to auction off our extra motors resulting in a rather low recovery of capital.

Please name your price and specify how many of the 122 remaining engines you would like to purchase from us. We can have them shipped directly to VLT for your retro-fitting purposes or anywhere else you deem appropriate.

We will not commence the packaging and shipment of engines until we receive your price & quantity requirements. Please reply to us most expeditiously.

As stated previously, any remaining motors will be put up for public auction. At a near-future date.

We offer $42,700,000, which is $350,000 per engine. Also, as this number will not fill our requirements, we would like to purchase all 500 engines as they become available. As for shipping, we need to wait for the response from VLT Railway Technologies, unless Alfegos Aeronautics would like to bid on these modifications.

The unit price of $350,000 is acceptable. It is actually more than we were expecting which pleases us. We have opened a special wire-account to receive your annual deposits. The initial cost will be your aforementioned $42,700,000 for our remaining 122 units available at this time. We will continue to sell you an additional 125 units a year at the same price. Total wire denomination required for 125 units will be $43,750,000, due next year.

As far as payments are concerned we are willing to offer you two options:
1) Payments to occur annually, $42.7 million the first year and $43.75 million a year for the remaining four years after the initial payment as more engines become available.
2) The opportunity to pre-purchase all motors before they come available. Excluding your initial investment of $42.7 million for the initial 122 engines the remaining cost of 375 engines would total $131,250,000. We will gladly accept $130,000,000 as your pre-payment, saving you $1.25 million on the total cost of annual payments.

We are more than willing to sell you all 500 engines that will become available and you are entitled to the exclusivity of the sale as long as the payments are made in due time. We have received your telecoms regarding VLT's shipping information and we will begin shipping them to VLT's warehouse as soon as we receive your first wire transfer. Packaging of the engines has already commenced and we can have all 122 units delivered within the week.

After our 4-year contract is complete we will allow you the right to reproduce these engines as you see fit. They are no longer any use to us but we would like to keep the rights of production until our contract expires in the event that another nation shows interest in the purchase of our formidable engineering marvels. In the event that another nation does show interest we may open up production of the motors for a short period of time (remaining time of contract) in order to capitalize on the demand. Regardless of demand we will still grant you the rights to reproduction after said four years.

Enclosed you will find a bill of sale with our wire informaion lacated on the reverse side.
