Dictator seizes power in Amadjiah, cleanses "undesirables"

Amadjiah

"This is Bannock Martin with INN. Today's top story comes to you from the small and recently independent Emirate of Amadjiah. In a relatively bloodless coup d'état some days ago, the reigniing Emir, Khan Shiskhabov, was deposed and exiled by the military, which seized power under the leadership of General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth. General ben Naggoroth has declared a state of emergency, and reports of the situation on the ground have only just begun to trickle in. Marisa Lewis, on the ground in Amadopolis."

"Thank you Bannock. It's relatively peaceful for a state commonly thought of as being in turmoil; General ben Naggoroth's martial law has been effective in reducing crime and looting to almost zero. Soldiers are patrolling the streets as I speak, enforcing the General's laws."

"What laws are those, Marisa?"

"Well, here, posters like this have been plastered everywhere. 'By order of the Provisional Authority, the infidel faiths of atheism, of Christianity, of Judaism, of Buddhism, all are hereby banned within the borders of Amadjiah. Those heathens who follow these faiths have twenty-four hours from the signing of this decree to depart the country or be escorted to centers where they will be taught the true path.' It's only the latest of the General's decrees; he's already rounded up practically everyone on the political left -- communists, anarchists and so on -- and people with serious inheritable diseases."

"What kind of centers are these undesirables being shipped to?"

"I don't know, but we do know what kind of conditions the refugees are living in; I'll pass you on to Holly Wildman."

"This is Holly Wildman reporting from the Sao Rico DMZ."

"I'm here on a desolate, cratered landscape; before the Emirate's war of independence, this was a forest, but now it's become a kind of wasteland in which many refugees have camped. Many people don't have tents or any kind of facilities. Fresh water is scarce. The International Red Cross has already showed up, but not in force; they have maybe a hundred or two hundred humanitarian agents on the ground, and this DMZ has at least eighty thousand refugees. Not to mention that there are doubtless many more in the other demilitarized zones."

"General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth has yet to issue an official statement on the subject, but we shall keep you updated. In business, the withdrawal of the Camden Banking group from the Shibbastani economy...."

Unfortunately it has come to our attention that you are currently imprisoning, and what certain reports claim, torturing people sharing this country's beliefs and ideologies. We condemn this unfair imprisonment. If the reports of torture are confirmed we will be forced to take a stronger stance on this issue. As it is, along with our condemnations we will be placing an embargo on all all Amadjiahan produced goods and end any and all traffic entering our country either coming from Amadjiah or whose destination is Amadjiah until such time that all communist and other left wing political believers are freed. To General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth of Amadjiah,

We are very happy to see another dictatorship rise up into the world. It has been my goal to ban the undersirables but war would not work. I want to send a delegate over to meet you and speak with you in a conference. My nation will not know about his being there because he will be planning with you and you other major generals and leaders how to make Greston a dictatorship.

Secret In Character:

"Send this out now and get Isaac Winston in here." said John Batther to his aid. He handed over and letter and she left a minute later she came in with a man who looked to be in his 60s but was really in his 40s and was a very very fit man. The man had a thick mustach with lines of his remaining black hair, he was wearing a complete black suit with a red tie.

"Ah Isaac, you do know that you are our newest SS gaurd. Unlike many other staff members know you are a Hawk unitand have been for 10 years, one of 60 Hawk units out of 3,000 gaurds and 10,000 staff members in this building. Well I want you to go on a mission for me. You will be going over to a new nation which has banned almost all religions and the people who follow it, and is a communist nation. They think we are going to become a communist nation and are asking for their wisdom so you will go to a conference and kill as many people as you can but you absolutely must kill General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth. Understand?"

"Yes I understand sir."

"Good you can bring three other Hawks to accompany you."

Jorge Luis Sanchez was a tall cadaverous man who squinted and sometimes walked as though he had forgotten how and had to stop to think about every step. He was one of the few aides to the General who was not ethnically Amadji. As he entered the squat quiet room and shut the door carefully behind him, the General smiled at him.

"Sanchez. What is it?"

To those who knew him, the General was personable, kind, jovial, and pleasant. To his populace he was a charismatic leader who had come to power mainly by playing on the authoritarian-racist beliefs of many of his people. He wore cheery ties, whistled absently as he signed execution orders, and adored classic rock. But that is irrelevant to your understanding of Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth, evil dictator and oppressor.

"General, sir, we've received several communications from the international community."

"What kind of communications?"

"Condemnations and threats, primarily, sir. And this very interesting message of support."

"Hum. Exactly what I expected, I must say. Let me see them."

ben Naggoroth looked over the communications. He read them in detail once or twice, and shrugged. "I'll draft a few responses."

Sanchez nodded and tactfully withdrew, shutting the door once more.

@Pan-Arab Barronia

To Whom it may concern;

Surely you jest. "Freedom of religion" is an outdated and simplistic concept that operates on the false premise that all religions are equal. Unlike most world leaders, I seek to purify society from those who threaten it -- those who follow the self-destructive, infidel faiths of Christianity, Judaism and their ilk, and even more so, those degenerates who follow no faith at all; those who seek the equally destructive and harmful agenda of Bolshevism and communism; those whose very bodies compromise society by infecting it with terrible afflictions. When the world is freed of these blights, I will be lauded, not condemned.

@The Philippiniada

To General Taniada;

Your message might have been better worded by a diplomat. I, a General myself, am not cowed by threats of "serious consequences"; nor will I give in to infidels and degenerates simply on force of threats. I am a man of principle and I stand by my beliefs; only God, not mortal men, can convince me otherwise.

@Greston

To John Batther;

I thank you for your support, but be aware that the monocratic form of Amadji government is only a transitional phase. Once society has been cleansed and order restored to the lands, in accord with the laws of God and His prophets, the rule will be given over to an enlightened council of wise elders, who will act only for the good of the people and of society. I have no desire to see unenlightened dictatorships arise in other nations, and have only taken this step of assuming absolute power due to necessity, in turn brought on by the corruption and chaos of the breakaway government that formerly ruled this land.

While the Principality of Northern Rangeria is a tolerant nation when it comes to the domestic policies of other nations, we will not sit idly by after this declaration of "cleansing of undesirables". As of this moment, the Principality is evacuating all Northern Rangerian citizens and their dependants from Amadjiah through international airports. Any attempt to harm the evacuees or otherwise hamper the evacuation will be deemed an act of aggression.

Should the evacuation process proceed safely, we are willing to dispatch humanitarian aid in form of medicines and food.

I thank you greatly for your assistance. Be aware that due to the state of martial law, Amadji armies are already massed and readied to defend the homeland against invaders. As Amadjiah is a small nation, and with few facilities and military bases not already in use by my armies, the Royal Overwatch may have to do with meager conditions; I also recommend that not more than fifty to seventy thousand personnel be deployed, to weaken the impact of the inevitable logistical difficulties.

@Northern Rangeria

I have no issue with foreigners departing my lands; indeed, I welcome the departure of degenerates and impure by any means possible. Rest assured that your evacuations will not be hampered, but even assisted by the intact portions of the Amadji transportation network, if you so wish.

We have heard of your, "cleansing of undesirables." We hope what we have heard is untrue, or a twisting of the truth. We would like to have some kind of diplomatic meeting in which we can attempt to settle this issue peacefully before something happens to your nation. Many people that religion seriously, and the freedom thereof even more. Hopefully there can be some kind of compromise reached. We are not saying that you have done anything wrong, as you are a sovereign nation, but other nations in the world may see differently, and they are so much larger. We hope that you see that diplomacy is better than war. Subject: Rescue Squadron on the Way

Every single citizen of Third Spanish States is shocked by the news they received on the nation of Amadjiah. We can get rid of your undesirables if you accept to send them in exile, alive and well, to our nation. We advise you to stop this policies while you can, before other nations with military forces significantly more powerful than yours join to strike you, and perhaps even resort to the use of nuclear weapons, no matter how ironic it would be using those against a mass killing.

Hampshire Haven, Unknown Location near the coast

"How is the 'rescue' squad?", asked the Sea Blackguard
"The three Zumwalts, four Fridtjof Nansens, six K130 and twelve Skjolds are also on the way with empty crew bunks for refugees. We can bypass their radars if we are careful enough I believe. Never before a full stealth-based fleet was sent to foreign waters. And of course there'll be some extra ones refitted to carry additional fuel during the travel", the engineer replied, checking some collected data from his palmtop as he observed the movement of the naval fleet. "And, let's see if those recon choppers have some value, he added as a handful of recently acquired for evaluation RAH-66 Comanches was at the helicopter bays of the larger ships.
"Do you expect hostilities?", he then asked.
"Probably not, but we have a fast and sneaky fleet and can handle it", the engineer explained.
"Good to know, and by the way, I am Roberto Cazán, and you?"
"Elian Leeds", the tall engineer replied.
"Good to meet you Elian, now, any idea on where to land at that nation?"
"Nothing some recon can't give the answer too. A few stealth bombers refitted with surveillance equipment from the Global Hawk shall enter in their airspace much before we arrive even close to their waters, of course, the chances of them detecting them are probably null as they lack technology for it", Elian explained.
"Guess I should go to the fleet, wish me good luck Elian, I'll be back for a chess match colleague!", he smiled
"Sure Roberto, good luck on your travel!"

The fleet started to move through northern Third Spanish States waters, to reach International Waters towards their destiny. Their mission was to rescue any refugees as they located major urban centers and death camps, where the Blackguards would sneak from the stealth ships to rescue any survivors, using violence only if necessary.

At the same time about three stealth recon airplanes based on refitted B-2 Spirits took off from an airport and headed in the direction of Amadjiah. As of now though, they were still in International airspace and far away from that nation, definitively not visible by their radars. They were to be refueled in air by a KC767 tanker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KC-767) in the middle of their travel, but still far enough from their goal to not be spotted and back again in the middle of their return travel.

(OOC: Any objections to this small clandestine rescue operation will be welcome. The Blackguards(according to the division type: "Sea, Air, Intel or Recon") are basically the SAS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Air_Service), SBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Boat_Service) and Military Intelligence of Third Spanish States)

The Principality was quick to act after the official communication with the provisional government. NRDC transport helicopters and planes were sent in, as well as any free NorRangAir planes. What little diplomatic staff there was in Amadjiah, they busied themselves by informing all known Northern Rangerian citizens and their families of the coming evacuation. Soon, planes were being boarded by civilians: Northern Rangerian tourists who had had their holiday cut short, archeologists, engineers, even two teachers from one of the Amadji universities. Inside the cargo planes, armed Jaegers were watching, ready to defend the evacuees from any threat of violence. It could become to shots, they all knew it: many of the more long-term residents had Amadji spouses and as a result, children. They would be evacuated as well. In secret, many also tried to get friends and family out of Amadjiah, and the Jaegers turned a blind eye to this, letting these 'dependants' board the planes as well.

Ubec City, Office of the President of the Federation of Visayan Peoples

"Not again..."

Visayans have an addiction to working abroad and this addiction has proved itself dangerous more than once. President Boncayao had just been informed that Amadjiah had suddenly turned berserk and was persecuting Christians, Jews, Buddhists and leftists. Not that they had a problem with someone taking out communists but the oil-rich Middle Eastern country (OOC: I assume it's an oil-rich Middle Eastern Country. Feel free to correct me.) had around 20,000 Visayan nationals: nurses, electricians, engineers and seamen manning its tanker fleet. To make matters worse, most if not all of them were Catholics, a reflection of the majority of the Federation. His close personal friend, The Executive Committee Chairman had only recently overseen a chaotic evacuation of Visayans from Jenbulari just before it imploded into a failed state and now this happens. Understandably, he wasn't pleased.

However, he was confident that unlike the Jenbulari intervention the Federation could count on the Free Minds Alliance, an international organization formed to address religious extremism of which the Federation is a member, for support on this one. Turning to his secretary, he dictated the instructions that were to be relayed to the Executive Committee and to Ambassador Creus, the Federation Delegate to the Alliance.

Camp Upal, Ubec City

Mere minutes later, the Liberators, the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion, under the command of Col. "Ike" Insierto was gearing up once again. Hardened veterans, they were no strangers to this type of mission - they had spearheaded the evacuation in Jenbulari.

We are sending the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion of the Federation Army, the 22nd Airlift wing and the 10th Fighter wing for the evacuation. We had trusted that your period in isolation would have wisened the Londinian peoples. Indeed, through the times, we were one of few nations to offer our vocal support for you.

We find it disturbing that you would immediately accuse us of preparing to invade this nation - we consider this now a matter for the Free Minds Alliance. If you had cared to read the charter's current form, you would note that already we strive to solve situations diplomatically rather than through military means. Doublewideville is not an FMA-sanctioned action - we have taken up that operation ourselves.

Barronia's forces are not preparing for an attack, we can assure of that, and will not do so unless the order is given.

We would encourage you to stay away from this nation - Londinium could ill afford another conflict so soon, and certainly, as a nation well versed in the world of diplomacy, should not be seen supporting extremism and a regime that openly admits to brainwashing it's population.

Sultanate of Aragasol Foreign Ministry, Abdul Razim, to

Emirate of Amadjiah:

We have heard about what is occuring in your nation-state to your undesirable populations and foreign populations. Unlike your nation we have decided to embrace other religions, and foreign populations, as we know Allah teaches the Islamic religion to be kind to its brothers of Judaism and Christianity as their 'prophets' are also Islamic prophets. Therefore your dictatorship as sinned against the tenents of Islam which has caused the suffering to your people and allowed for your petty dictaorship to flourish in Amadjiah. Be warned that if you do not stop the persecution of all religions and your nation's leftist populace and allow those in your 're-education' camps to go back to their homes and jobs, or abroad the Army of Aragasol will act and 100,000 regulars and 35,000 mobilized Arag militiamen will wage war with your nation-state until your dictatorship is removed.

The United Socialist States of Yanitaria would like to applaud the Sultanate for actually following their religion unlike the other extremist nations that seem to be popping up.

However, we cannot allow you to invade until a suitable diplomatic communication has been established, and has failed or succeeded.

To the Emirate of Amadjiah, the FMA would like to begin talks with your nation, perhaps they could accompany the Yanitarian diplomats, should you accept?

"This is your enemy, Amadjiah soldiers, led by a corrupt dictator who are persecuting religious minorities in Amadjiah."

Emil raised his hand in a 90 degree angle in front of his body as the military had trained him. The young 15 year old body with growing stubble on his chin asked;

"Why do we care about minorities?"

"Boy, we are concerned about religious minorities as the persecution of them reflects badly on Islam and therefore some despot from a Christian country or Jew country can then attack other Islamic countries and claim they are riding the world of Islamist terrorists. If we state that we believe in multi-faith and protection of everyone rights then they cannot attack Aragasol in the future as it will then look bad on them.

Sultan Hussein read the new reports that he had received on Amadjiah. Amadjiah and Aragasol had a history as the stories go that Amadjiah several centuries before controlled Aragasol before the tribes of Aragasol revolted in a bloodless coup in tandum with a rebellion occuring in Amadjiah. Even though that was between 200-250 years ago, several areas of Amadjiah and Aragasol were in contention and border disputes had (never leading to conflict) had occured in the Yusef Sultanate of 189 B.R - 100 B.R. and the Bin Laden Sultanate of 100 B.R - 38 B.R. As Hussein was the second ruler of the Hussein Sultanate he hoped to with this crises setle some border disputes that nagged at his regime with Amadjiah. Also, he had to deal with Arwil Nassan, a fine young foreign educated woman who was demanding women's rights in Erdil (see other thread) even though he could not do so for upseting the tribes of the Aragasol provinces.

Smiling, Hussein was not to concerned about Nassan at the moment he had to prepare 10,000 soldiers and militiamen in Erdil for possible combat operations.

International Airspace, about halfway on their travel:

The weather was clear, no storms or strong winds were influencing the aerodynamics of the three stealth bombers refitted as spy planes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TR-3_Black_Manta_by_Adrian_Mann.jpg), though they would need to refuel soon. It wasn't long before a message was received from a nearby airplane.

"BlackWatch 1, this is the fifth refueling squad, ready for procedure. Initiate speed matching and fly below the boom. All other crafts, form on my wing to await your turn", the captain of the large KC767 said
"Acknowledged Fifth refueling, I have your sight on radar, starting approach and speed matching.", the pilot of the refitted B-2 answered.
"I am in", the pilot of the BlackWatch 2 replied quickly
"Yes, coming in", the pilot of the last airplane finally answered

The B-2s slowly approached the tanker as its crew readied the equipment for the refueling, the BlackWatch 1 was just behind the refueling plane.
"Flying boom being adjusted, keep your speed BlackWatch 1", the boom operator informed
The flying boom then started to adjust towards the BlackWatch 1.
"BlackWatch 1, start accelerating slowly to approach the tanker"
"Acknowledged", the pilot replied.
"I can see you, just a little further", the boom operator answered.
"Decelerate now and match speed!", he finally answered as the bomber was very close to the flying boom.
"I'm adjusting the boom nozzle to your ship receptacle, keep at this speed and inside the air refueling envelope."
The nozzle then was connected with the bomber receptacle and the flying boom started to send it enough fuel to allow it to recon effectively the foreign territory, which was split in three sections for each of the airships and for returning to the same point again for a second refueling before going back to Third Spanish States.

"Refueling on the way, just more 10 seconds.", the operator replied
"Good, this is becoming tiresome", the pilot replied
10 seconds later the refueling was completed as expected.
"BlackWatch 1, disconnecting nozzle, decelerate a bit to give space to BlackWatch 2 to refuel. BlackWatch 2, approach the refueling envelope and match speed. I'll instruct you to reach the boom", the operator said as the pilot of the BlackWatch 1 decelerated without losing his formation to the tanker.

The same procedure was repeated with the two other spyplanes, and after a little more than two minutes.
"BlackWatch squadron, you are ready to continue, please send an instruction for refueling procedure with 1 hour of antecedence to avoid inconveniences after your mission is finished.", the captain of the 5th refueling squad said.
"We will, now I suppose it's time for you to return back home, farewell buddies!", the pilot of BlackWatch 1 said as they headed for completely opposite directions.

Nothing of importance has happened during such first hours of travel and their fleet was operating with only passive radars. They hoped to rescue as many victims of the genocide as possible and to not have to engage into conflict at all. There was some significant tension though as many had this as their first mission and never participated on anything besides low intensity conflicts with criminals.

Under the cover of darkness several military supply trucks carrying rashions, equipment, and medical aid followed by several dozen mechanized tanks of the 21st and 27th mechanical divisions and about three hundred Aragasol soldiers and another hundred Arag militiamen crossed over the rugged and wasteland appearing border of Amadjiah and headed for refugees of the persecution of the Amadjiah government that were located near the border. The plan was to head ten miles into Amadjiah territory and capture and secure any refugee's or 'reeducation' camps of the Amadjiah government, hopefully without much bloodshed.

General Grimmeberger;

The language you use in your "diplomatic" communication is telling. Are you but a child, that you resort to name calling and declarations of war without so much as a first thought, let alone a second? As Amadjiah is relatively self-sufficient, your trade embargo will have little effect in any case; we can sustain ourselves for years without involving ourselves with the outside world.

President Baudoin;

I am glad that someone has shown a willingness to compromise rather than immediately make demands and ultimatums. I am perfectly amenable to meeting with your diplomats to discuss matters. Be aware, however, that I am not a man easily swayed by threats of violence, which some world leaders mistake for "diplomacy".

To whom it may concern;

As has been stated, the refugees are located in the demilitarized zones and in specially constructed camps in Amadjiah's port city, Al 'Shakafka. If you wish to transport them thence, you are welcome to; your ships and aircraft will not be impounded by the ANF and AAF, provided they are unarmed and clearly state their intentions.

rebels

To Umar Al-Hadi;

I am indescribably pleased that there are others who share my views on society out there. So often, it seems, world leaders insist upon treating impure and degenerates as though natural rights were conferred upon them merely by their existence, rather than by their actions and beliefs. Rights are earned, not given freely, and that only through worshipping God and following true morality.

But I ramble. Two Amadji cargo transports will come to your lands to pick up the men and equipment; if secrecy is required, they will be accompanied by electronic warfare aircraft, in order to hide them from detection. The equipment, what of it survives, will be returned or refunded once stability is restored.

To Sgd. Salazar;

While I am willing to help evacuate those of your citizens residing and working within Amadjiah, and their families, I unfortunately cannot allow foreign fighter aircrafts and armed special forces within my borders. To do so would be an unacceptable security risk -- I understand that you do not wish to use force, but I am not sure the same can be said of your captains and generals. The evacuation aircraft will be escorted within Amadji airspace by fighters of the AAF, and citizens will be transported to the Amadipolis airport via Amadji ground transport such as buses and trains.

freedom
To whom it may concern;

I thank you for your concern, but seeing as your nation openly subscribes to, and forces upon its citizens, the degenerate philosophies of atheism -- a worse sin than any other faith, as it denies even basic morality -- and socialism, which has ruined thriving and productive societies by creating systems of forced equality and lowering the true faith to but another "belief system"; I am hardly surprised that you fail to see what the impure have done wrong.

islam
To the Sultan of Aragasol;

While you are partially correct in your treatment of Jews and Christians as peoples of the Book, followers of those faiths in Amadjiah were in reality false. Many were secular, claiming Judaism or Christianity as faith but not accepting the prophets; many believed in blasphemous theories of evolution and abiogenesis; indeed, Christians commonly claim that the prophet Isa believed that even degenerates such as homosexuals, prostitutes, and criminals are accepted and forgiven by God, despite their own Bible flatly contradicting this. In short, they merely used the faith to further their own ends. If they show significant progress following re-education, and become capable of accepting the faith, they will be released and allowed to practice in peace.

--------------------

The spyplanes were fairly quiet and the day was hazy. Even this high up the air temperature was in the double digits, Celsius; the planes' powerful sensor equipment could barely make out the approaching arid landscape where the sea ended. If one could see the imaginary lines marking the Amadji border, they would run almost along the beaches that became visible on either side of an ever narrowing inlet patrolled by small craft. At its widest the inlet was about a hundred miles across; at its narrowest, only twenty.

A million years ago a glacier had swept down almost to what is now the sea, and left in its path a hanging valley. When the ice age came to an end and the glacier retreated, a mighty river had formed, draining the hanging valley and descending over a waterfall into a broad and fertile plain ringed by mountains. But then the sea levels rose and the glaciers disappeared altogether. Now the fertile plain was underwater and the waterfall had become the sharp dropoff that marked Al 'Shakafka harbour.

The planes could make out large numbers of ships docked in the area; the largest probably did not exceed fifty thousand tonnes. The city was very large and marked by huge white tents enclosed by fences, on the outskirts; the refugee camps. The forests that stretched away to the north were almost temperate, with pines a hundred feet high; but to the south the vegetation was limited to shrubs and small undergrowth, the ground was sandy, and the air was polluted. Dividing the two halves was the Wadi Zakif, the once-mighty river; but its waters too were polluted, from the industrial waste of Amadipolis, constructed at the midpoint of the nation along the river's banks. Towards the eastern end of the country the terrain became mountainous and arid. Settlements were few and water scarce. In this region were the demilitarized zones, now occupied by thousands of refugees.

The spyplanes might catch sight of one of the more interesting occurrences in this area: the Aragasol "invasion".

The border between Amadjiah and Aragasol was so poorly defined as to be almost nonexistent. Most of the area between the two was uninhabited, mountainous, and inaccessible desert. The soldiers had taken a roundabout path up a dry riverbed through the most accessible mountain pass they could find; the demilitarized zones were to the southwest of this border, whereas continuing due west would lead them straight into the military bases on the Amadji side of the DMZ, and going north would take them into a sparsely populated (and heavily armed) region of the country dominated by small, warring clans.

"Options?" Larry asked.

"Well, sir. There are three options that have been laid out. Option one is sending in a variety of aircraft to pick these 'undesierables' out of the nation and bring them to the Colonys, where they would be welcomed into the Empire with open arms. The second is just letting things go."

"And the third is?"

"Military action, sir."

Charrol Cralom, the Minister of Public Affairs spoke up from her chair along the right side of the table. "But. sir. We cannot justify military action at this point in time. They arn't a part of the UN so we can't justify invasion because of the UN Resolutions."

"I understand the consiquences. There will be no military action as of this point in time. Kennith, send out another message that we will accept these refugee's from his nation, and mention that we will take care of transportation. Prepare the 2nd HAVOC Naval Battlegroup, they will spearhead the evacuation process. If I do not get a response from this one, I will assume you are ignoring me. I would hate to do that, as I hope this can be dealt with peacefully through negotiations, as I stated in my last letter. Your proposal is acceptable. While the demilitarized zones have no airfields, the transportation aircraft may land at airfields in the nearby military bases; ORVs from the bases will transport the refugees to the airfields for removal from the nation. You may also land aircraft at the airfields outside Al 'Shakafka, to which the refugees will be transported.

As for the delegates, they may be transported to Amadipolis airport, where my envoys shall greet them.

On the ground it was hardly that simple.

"Get up!"

The woman was roused from her fitful napping by the harsh and percussive yells of soldiers. As they co-ordinated across the line, the shouts combined in a series of almost wordless tones, like a grand cacophonous symphony; and for a moment the woman reflected on that before a grimy pair of hands seized her and pulled her upright by the hair.

As the soldier led her, a gun held against her back, towards a jeep, she witnessed as refugees all along the DMZ staggered in line with her, transported by soldiers. There was not one soldier for each refugee; some soldiers held families at bay as they approached the vehicles. Taking into account the treatment she had received so far the woman could not fail to suspect the worst. She kicked back, rewarded with a sharp grunt; whirled, punched. The soldier sat down heavily and she reached for his gun.

One. Two. The sudden reports made the refugees turn their heads like as one; a murder of crows flapped awkwardly into the air from a branch of the lone bare tree that adorned the landscape. Then there was no more time for resistance as men, women, and children were thrust into the jeeps and transported away towards the airfield, some wailing and bemoaning their fate, some praying. Many were silent, cynical; few among the bedraggled group doubted that when they left the DMZ, they went to their deaths.

Fifteen minutes later the crows returned. Not all at once, mind; at first it was only one or two. But before long they had all flown back to partake of the fresh kill. By the time the buzzards arrived, the majority had already had their fill.

Pudite Prefecture Two, Compound Two-Two-Four-Nine, Praetorian Guard Information Processing Center
Colonel Dakhno Aleksandrovich gave the slightest inclination of his head in acknowledgement to the issue. The text was such as it conveyed the situation inside Amadjiah, and the limited international response. He forwarded the release to his commander, General Daniil Velikii, head of the Praetorian Guard Information Processing Center, and thought little else of it.

When, however, the message reached its destination; the desk of General Velikii, he saw more. With a gesture, he summoned to him his aide, and set him about retrieving two men. The first, the Praetorian representative in the Pudite High Council, was Field Marshal Volodislav Danilovich, the second was his commander, Ivan Dogatko, head of Praetorian Extra-National Military Intervention. Roughly half an hour later, the pair arrived together, and were led into a small conference room adjacent to Velikii’s office.

The room was small, with a plain wooden table and four chairs serving as the only furniture, with a single fluorescent light in the ceiling above, lighting the stark white room perfectly. It was as were all rooms in the Dominion, a subterranean, gleaming white, and windowless room. The compounds housed all those that were loyal among the Pudite population, and without, those that were unloyal…

But these rebels were not on the mind of the men inside the room. What was, only Velikii knew, but he was prepared now to inform the rest. “My brethren, I have summoned you here for a specific purpose today.

Have we not all watched as Mr. White and his heretical Janissary Corps have invaded and laid waste to millions, all to bring to a false leader glory undeserved? Have we not seen the Frumentarii from the Foreign Office claim for their own powerful states and wealth beyond that which is given?”

“Truly, they defy our Emperor and Council!” concurred Field Marshal Dogatko.

“Not so much the Council,” replied Danilovich, somberly, “The Noble caste is increasingly impudent – each has his own men, and they have divided the land most unlawfully, and we are powerless to fight them…”

There was an understanding nod from Velikii before he continued, “Then it is most certainly in our interest to maintain our own influence in this time of turbulence and defiance.”

“All that is done in the name of our Emperor is right. We go in his name.” was the reply from Dogatko.

“Surely.”

“And so I will continue,” said Velikii “the nation of Amadjiah has come to my attention recently…”

Lieutenant-General Dokgil Novik stood on the bridge of his Roydia-class battleship, the Sovereign’s Pride, surveying the forces at his disposal. There were perhaps forty ships cutting their way across the water before him, with another force in tow, which made up both his own 5th Praetorian Rapid Response Fleet, as well as the 6th Praetorian Rapid Response Fleet of Lt. General Dolbnia.

The ships were great constructions, colored a matte black, barely distinguishable from the still-dark sea, not yet illuminated by the morning sun, just barely climbing over the horizon behind them.

The fleets were roughly one-thousand miles off the shores of the nation of Amadjiah, still very well within truly international waters, although they had not stopped here. They were crushing forward through the low waves at a steady speed of thirty knots, drawling inexorably closer to their target.

A message was broadcast before them, alerting the foreigners to their presence,

---- ---- ---- ----

To: The Dictatorship of Amadjiah Foreign Office
From: Field Marshal General Daniil Velikii, Commandant Praetorian Guard Information Processing Center

The Dominion has taken an interest in your situation, in that, we abhor your conduct. You have thus far been greeted with veiled threats and offers of negotiation. This is not the solution to the debauchery given rise within your borders.

The Emperor gives you but one chance: You will cease immediately all actions against minority groups of whatever division from your ideal. You will dismantle your government, and proceed to international trial for your actions. You will allow a jury of non-biased advisors to appoint a new constitution and observe true and free elections.

Alternatively, you will fight, and you will lose. We do not veil our threats. They are made obvious too you. There are more than eighty ships of the Imperial Praetorian Naval Corps bearing down upon your shores. If you accept our terms, they will serve only as peacekeepers. Otherwise, they are the peacemakers…

It is your decision.

Good day,
Field Marshal Velikii

To Jim Lange;

This message is to inform you of the successful arrival of your delegate. I have been informed that his aircraft landed smoothly at Amadipolis airport about twenty minutes ago and he is currently en route to his hotel suite.

signed,
Mr. Muhammad Khalid Umar ben Jiza, Foreign Affairs Assistant to the General

---------------

The Beatusian delegate was greeted on the very tarmac by another of the General's assistants, a cordial and soft-spoken man with short hair and a perpetual squint. The assistant, who introduced himself as Special Envoy Ulian al Sanikh, conducted the delegate into an unobtrusive limousine. The glimses the diplomat caught of the airport betrayed nothing out of the ordinary; a fully modern airport with all standard facilities, and forest and distant mountains beyond where the asphalt ended.

The limousine transported the diplomat almost effortlessly into the city; traffic seemed to part for it and it paid traffic lights little heed. The road was almost empty, anyway; it had obviously been specially cleared for the diplomatic motorcades. If the diplomat were to look he might catch glimpses of motorcycles on either side, each bearing an armed soldier. The hotel at which the diplomat was hosted was large but not imposing; the suite, while not exactly the pinnacle of luxury, was comfortable and airy. In the next morning when he awoke it would be flooded in light.

At the prearranged time on the next day a different assistant, who did not give his name but was also cordial and soft-spoken, appeared to transport the diplomat to Parliament House. Again there were the tinted windows on the limousine, the military escort. And his first impression of Parliament House would be that of a huge citadel, surrounded by three levels of security and with no windows opening from the boxlike structure. This was truly a nation under martial law.

The diplomat was conducted into the foyer, waved through by the security guards, and passed with his escort into a broad and well-lit hallway that terminated in an elevator. They ascended to the fifth story and emerged from the other side into brilliant sunlight. In the center of the citadel there was an open space, with light provided by the sun; yet it was not hot, and the hum of air conditioners was pervasive. The roof of this indoor courtyard was glass, but evidently retractable; the steel walls of the citadel extended further up, but not so far as to completely block sunlight at any time except high noon. In the center of this courtyard itself was set up a large round table, from which a man had already risen. An impressive figure, in spite of his pudgy abdomen and receding hairline; impressive because of the force of personality behind the body, the charisma inherent even in the way he moved; the mind over the matter.

He said, "Greetings and welcome to Amadjiah. I am General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth."

We do not defend criminals, rather it is our belief, and the belief of several other nations that we can change one nations actions through peace not war. How can you cast this away when you do not even no the details of our discussion? We would like to formally request that you hold off on any attacks until diplomatic talks end.

To Field Marshal Velikii;

While, having long been subjected to double-talk and veiled intentions from politicians, I admire your plain speech, I cannot say I find very much else about your message particularly impressive. First, you ignore the fact that mere conflicts of ideology can easily be solved through discussion and negotiation rather than military force. I do not seek to impose Islam upon the rest of the world; I do not seek to bring capitalism to the Bolsheviks, nor rid other nations of their genetically compromised. That you seek to force your own ideology upon us speaks worse of you than my actions do of me.

Second, you once again make threats. This is hardly new; ever since my actions were publicized I have received many such threats. Moreover, you make your threats in such a manner as that to head off this threat I, a man of principles, will have to go to unacceptable lengths; and more so that even if I do so you will carry out your threats (what would the difference be between "peacekeepers" and "peacemakers"? If Amadji are slain as a result, practically none.); tells that you have only entered this affair in order to go to war for some unfathomable reason of your own: to gain access to Amadji oil reserves, for instance, or to prove you are "better" in some absurd respect than the next nation over.

Third, you suggest that I must be taught "respect". Respect for what? For nations that happen to be larger or more threatening than mine? For those leaders who deem themselves capable of spewing more eloquent rhetoric? For an imaginary, unworkable, unwritten "international law"? Spare me your "respect". I tell you this: you are welcome to fight the Amadji, and you are welcome to watch your servicemen and women die, as every foreign soldier that sets foot in Amadji soil, with hostile intent, will never leave it.

General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth

Shortly before the arrival of the diplomats

"The refugees have been transported to the airfields."

"Oh. Oh, good. Were there any fatalities?"

"One soldier, General." Sanchez looked nonplussed.

"I meant refugees."

"Oh. Twelve or thirteen at the most; well below the minimal rate. It went off comparatively smoothly for a large-scale evacuation. Now we're loading them onto Yanitarian aircraft."

"Excellent then." The General rose to leave for the conference room. "By the way, what did you think of that speech?"

"Inspiring," Sanchez said glibly. "People went wild; you saw them. You've painted the Empire (?) as imperialist, as intolerant, as the bad guy in the picture; you've rekindled faith in the homeland; people are more ready and willing to defend their homes than ever before. And to the international community, you've painted us as the good guys -- as though we're the ones who've been victimized."

The General looked very sad for a brief moment. "But, aren't we?"

Sanchez was about to say something but he checked his tongue.

He showed Sheldon into a chair next to the Yanitarian diplomats and took his own seat on the opposite side of the table, next to, "Jorge Luis Sanchez. "So, it appears as if everyone is here, shall we get down to business?" asked Sheldon.

Roughly One-Thousand Miles off the coast of Amadjiah, Battleship Sovereign's Pride, Command Deck of Vice Admiral Padenga
Lieutenant General Dokgil Novik stepped brazenly into the brightly lit room, and announced himself, "Vice Admiral, I have received our message from the foreigner."

"And they refused?"

"Of course. Are we prepared for combat?"

"The fleet is ready, general. We'll get your men to shore, after that, however, it is in your hands."

"Excellent..."

"We cannot even see it yet." said the Vice Admiral, speaking now more to himself,

"Excuse me?" questioned General Novik, even as he was preparing to leave,

"General, we have committed to a war now, a war upon a land none among us has ever seen..."

Lieutenant General Novik hesitated for a moment, "His will be done, Timofei. Anything else is heresy. You know why we're here."

"Indeed," replied Timofei Padenga, more firm in voice now, "And soon, the foreigners will too..."

Dokgil turned again, and walked back out of the room, "I'll not be sending a response. Your ordinance and my soldiers will speak for us now."

"Good," replied Timofei, "The drivel we produced surprised me in its ability to disturb my stomach."

Dokgil smiled, "It is good to fall into line again."

Vice Admiral Padenga turned back to the window that adorned the far wall of the room, and back to his fleet. Lieutenant General Novik returned to his quarters, having now only to wait, the fate of his duties not to be determined by deluded foreigners and heretics.

General Grimmeberger;

From the Desk of the Prime Minister:

To the Head of State in Amadijah:

We are deeply apologetic for the tone in the message sent by our ex-head of state. He tends to lose his temper in cases like this. At the moment, he is relegated only to command of military units. However, we must stress that we do not approve of your "cleansing" any more than General Grimmeberger does. And we will not be nearly so forgiving if this state of affairs continues. Now, what your nation does with its people is your own business, as you are a sovereign nation, but that only extends to a point, and when you begin locking up whole populations, that point has been reached. As for the subject of the cleansing, the General is currently engaged in negotiations with Beatusian and Yanitarian diplomats on that very topic; but he has confided that he does not expect it to be necessary for all too much longer, as attractive packages offered by foreign nations allow those who practice outlawed faiths or ideologies to simply depart with much less rancour than forced exilees and he is confident that those who remain will completely give up their degenerate philosophies.

The General was silent for a moment. Then he allowed his penetrating voice to sound soft and gentle and solemn. "I fully see where you are coming from. In the past, surely, many regimes have attempted to fully exterminate threats, whereas I seek only to secure my own borders from them; by deporting them or by re-educating them into productive members of society. And for a side note, the re-education camps are not gulags nor are they death camps. Residents are treated well and simply must attend classes where they learn how to act decently and properly.

"But I ramble. The point is that I believe, like many Amadji, that decency is a thing to be safeguarded at all times; that tolerance and acceptance of degeneracy is akin to degeneracy itself." He paused as though to think. "That rights are earned, not granted by God; and that those who squander their rights no longer deserve them. I am aware that the Beatus, and Yanitaria, have very different views of society: I respect those views, as long as they do not force that society upon us, and in turn I will not force my own views upon them."

Once more he collected his thoughts. "I have allowed the refugees to depart this nation; I have even had them transported to airfields. As for those at re-education camps, their training has already started; I believe there is still hope for them, that they can give up their sinful ways and return to right thought. That is why I have not permitted their release yet. Time is essential in their retraining; if they choose to leave even after the retraining has been completed, I will not stop them."

The General sighed a little, sadly and wearily. "Then they will have to be... released." He paused again. "Most likely, asked to leave the country; but it varies from case to case."

He turned to Mohammed Boutella then. "My thanks to your esteemed self for the historical reminder. Already I have had cause to rethink my decree, at least as far as goes for peoples of the Book; the issue, however, was that many who followed those faiths failed to do so morally and properly, but instead subscribed to heretical and blasphemous ideas, or failed to worship God regularly at all. Many churches and synagogues were found to be increasingly empty. I had therefore inferred that Christianity and Judaism were lost causes as far as Amadjiah was concerned.

"But, if good and lawful citizens wish to follow the Bible or the Talmud, I would likely permit them to do so, and instead make illegal the behaviors which they exhibited -- belief in blasphemous pseudoscience, tolerance even towards atheists and homosexuals in a misguided spirit of 'Christian love', or any number of other aberrations."
Yanitaria

Boutella smiled, and continued, "Islamic law, during the high ages, allowed for doubters and even people of other religions other than Christianity, Judaism, and Zarathustranism to peacefully live with each other, and communicate ideas regarding to science and astronomy.

"Furthermore, the prophet Isa said himself, 'And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.'"

Doctor al-Qadir interrupted enthusiastically, "This passage occures not only in the bible, but in the Qu'ran as well."

Doctor Nassir also spoke, "Would Allah feel proud of those who have slain or rejected his own creatures? That would be a sin against he himself. One must accept all of his creations as they are, as only he can show them whether they are right or wrong."

I have mentioned that I seek to purify society; indeed, several times. To rid it of these false beliefs. But why is that? It would be the beginnings of chaos, decay, and anarchy, such as ruled the corrupt Emirate before I came to power.

"Once society is pure and faith is once more strong, I would see no reason to permit public discussion of degenerate ideas, and activities now banned -- prostitution, homosexuality, political bolshevism -- would become permissible, because I would be aware that they would no longer threaten those faithful. "And before that, before the golden age, it was the decision to allow foreigners the same freedoms to speak their minds in public that allowed muslims to gather books and mathematical concepts from around the world.

"And finally, during the golden age of Islam, and I quote from two history books, 'Many medieval Muslim thinkers pursued humanistic, rational and scientific discourses in their search for knowledge, meaning and values. A wide range of Islamic writings on love poetry, history and philosophical theology show that medieval Islamic thought was open to the humanistic ideas of individualism, occasional secularism, skepticism and liberalism.'"

Message for Field Marshal General Daniil Velikii

The Federation of Visayan Peoples is a stalwart member of the Free Minds Alliance that has taken responsibility for looking for a peaceful solution to this genocide. The negotiations of Yanitaria and the Beatus are part of the Alliance's efforts to defuse this crisis without more bloodshed. Further, Shazbotdom and Orbath who have opposed your aggressive moves are also members of the FMA. Do not threaten us if we interfere with your operations for it is you who are interfering with ours and we are quite prepared to use force should you persist in jeopardizing our efforts.

Insierto had barely been promoted to Brigadier by the President himself, so he could command the Birgade to be sent into Amadjiah when the stand-down order was given. The FMA had decided at the last minute to rely on negotiations so his troops wouldn't be landing in. The government thought it pointless to sneak in him and his boys if they weren't gonna be allowed to fight so it respected Amadjiah's protest against sending troops to the evacuation. Insierto had by now gotten used to politicains dithering to get mad. Regardless, he sent C-130s into Amadjian territory to evacuate their nationals. Escort or no escort they had to get their people out of there.

Preparing his tanks and infantry men Commander Asgeth prepared for confrontation with his unit of what appeared to be Amadjiah forces.

To the south, another unit of Aragasol troops numbering 200 in infantry and about 20 engineers continue to head directly east across the border. They were assignment to blow up any supply lines of the Amadjiah army.

The General interrupted the recital. "No, no, sir, you misunderstand me. You see, I do not claim to seek the same glory as covered the Islamic empire in the Middle Ages; but I firmly believe that only once society is purged from the influences of heresy and immorality can those ideas ever be reintroduced safely. Obviously once the faith of the people is assured and strong, and unshaken by foreign ideals, they can seek to study whatever science and philosophy and theology they like, without their faith nor morality suffering from it. But I do not believe the Amadji have yet reached that point."

Amadipolis airport was crowded out by a massive but fractured mob, forty-five thousand strong: the Visayan workers and their families, many of them taken from their homes by soldiers with little time to prepare, told it was the order of their home government. The tone in which the soldiers had said "home government" betrayed the respect, or lack thereof, they had for Visaya.

As each C-130 came to a halt, the soldiers counted off the exact number of people required and thrust groups forward, sometimes inadvertently separating families and friends. With each plane that departed the mob grew smaller, but the last to board had been waiting at the airport five or six hours already. This was blamed primarily on the Visayan government by airport officials, and vice versa.

Commander Asgeth

The moonscape was windswept and almost empty, ringed by high cliffs of impossible grandeur, the icy caps of distant mountains visible in the cold sunlight. The broad glacial plain stretched before the Aragasol troops, weirdly beautiful; dotted by shrubs and rocks, a few high outcroppings visible on both sides. And in the center, completely deserted: the half-burned and charred remains of a settlement. In the distance, visible even from here, two or three tanks; it was an Amadji military patrol, but it did not seem to have spotted the Aragasolians.

The soldiers approached the deserted settlement warily. The silence was complete; not a bird chirped, nor did the sparse yellow grass rustle as a sand-coloured snake wended away placidly. One soldier, perhaps a little braver than the rest, went first; he approached the settlement, keeping his assault rifle aimed before him, staring at the charred and blackened remains of buildings. The others made to follow him.

Then, he blew himself up. He disintegrated in a column of flame, as though he had never been there. Body parts were thrown twenty feet into the air, coming to earth in a bloody rain. Before they hit the ground the shrieking was audible.

It seemed to come from all sides of the mountains, but it started in front, from within the ruined settlement; the men who emerged, swarthy and painted in colours of war, were not regulars but members of one of the most warlike of tribes. They all wielded old rifles and short swords, but there was evidently a rocket launcher or two among the arsenal, as the first few explosions sent up tongues of flame, first among the men and then among the tanks.

Still shrieking, the warriors -- Alishim -- came in close, not relying on rifle shot at this range; the guns were used as clubs, and the swords entered combat: hacking, thrusting, slashing, slicing. Behind and above the melée small groups of riflemen, more experienced marksmen than their brethren, squeezed off shot after shot, a good headshot completely decapitating the victim. Every now and then there came the swish, shriek, boom of the rocket launchers as they fired upon the tanks and vehicles that accompanied the enemy group.

But the worst was the screaming. It was the terrifying yell of the banshee; and it alerted the Amadji soldiers to the situation. Before long they had analysed and concluded a rough version of the truth, and within the hour practically every military base along the eastern border was on alert.

Seas off the coast of Amadjiah, Praetorian Naval Corps OPARR Fleets Four and Five
Lieutenant General Novik faced a trio of men. Physically, each of the four bore incredible resemblance, and when decked out in their combat armor, they would bear even less, but now, he difference was at least made obvious in their uniforms.

The Lieutenant General wore a dress uniform of dark grey, while his three Colonels each had combat fatigues on, with rank insignia visible only on the sleeve. Each stood well over six feet, and was well-muscled, in the style of the Praetorian Guard.

Arrayed between them was a small steel table, and a civilian topographic map of Amadjiah, supplemented with a number of satellite photos, where they were available.

"Colonels Miakotin, Miasnikovich, and Kozhevnik, you know why you're here, and I'll not tarry on the eve of our attack."

They all nodded, and he continued, "We have not a large force, as is evident to you, and so immediately, conventional fighting is beyond us."

Again, a chorus of agreement, and he went on, "Therefore, I would strike at that which has brought us down - their government. It is not the people who have invited us, though they will surely resist, their subjugation will prove nothing, even if we had the manpower to do so. And so, the capital is our priority."

He pointed to a city on the map marked with a star, with the key at the bottom reading national capital. Their intelligence was not excellent, but they would improvise.

"We will overthrow their leader, and install one more... favorable... to our directives," he paused, "we should not pause to fight every battle that presents itself. I can imagine a rebellious populace - similar to that encountered inside Chitzeland before the annexation or Pananab before the surrender - and even after. We will make haste to the capital."

Another round of nodding and confirmation, and he resumed his speech, "I'll have three battalions mounted at all times, they will serve as our column, and will press through any obstacle that presents itself. A fourth and fifth battalion will each move along the flanks, outside the main column, to clear the surrounding locales, while the final battalion will lead our march. They will keep the heavier armor and vehicles wit the main column, and rotate three companies of dismounted infantry to serve as forward skirmishers. They will be supplemented by the whole of the pathfinders from each regiment, that should suffice to clear our way against civilian insurgents or paramilitary fighters."

They were not the concern, however. The Praetorian force was small, if well-trained, and would not stand a battle of attrition. Lieutenant General Novik and his Colonels knew this, and he continued once more, "However, in the case of a real military opposition, the columns behind shall be employed as a battering ram. They will strike at the heart of the enemy’s formation, driving a great wedge betwixt them, and sunder their fortifications. Then, from our flanks, shall ride the battalions to the left and right, to rout those that remain, and keep our primary force from being surrounded."

"Where shall our men stand, General?" came the question.

"The battalions of our fleet, Colonel, shall make up the 'battering ram', while Lieutenant General Briukho's battalions will be our outlaying forces. I would ask that you brief your own company commanders on our formation, although there should not be much call for individual action on their part..."

"Of course, General." came the immediate reply from the Colonels.

Each gave a fast salute before retreating back to their own ships, and their own soldiers.

Overhead, on the ships and even above, the sailors and soldiers buzzed with a hidden excitement. A Praetorian Naval Corps fleet had not seen combat since the occupation of Galation, years ago. They needed the practice.

Vice Admiral Timofei Padenga smiled as he watched his first two-dozen fighters scream off the decks of his Emden-class light carriers. They were only to maintain aerial superiority over the fleet, but they were still objects of pride, and his went with them.

The battle would soon be joined.

We most likely won't need your assistance as we have the assistance of the Praetorian's. We do appreciate the gesture though and will consider it in the future.

To Mr. Kennith G. Terrance and to the government of Yanitaria;

MR. KENNITH G. TERRANCE
Dear General Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth
We do not need the people moved to an airbase of any kind. The special transportation aircraft that we are going to use is equipped to be able to initiate Vertial Take-off and Landing procedures. Also, a note, we will also be using some of the Shazbotdom Marine Corps as protection for this transfer of civilian refugees. You can expect 5 AC-01 Pelcians to be loaded up with Marines.

Each of those 5 Pelicans would hold 9 Marines and 1 SCS Marine. Of whom will create a perimiter defence around the Aircraft Landing Site (LZ). If these Marines are fired upon, it will be considered an act of war against the Shazbotdom Empire and the Empire will retaliate in any manner that we see fit, so I suggest that you keep your military a good distance away from the Marines. We wouldn't want any slip-ups to force your nation into a fight that it cannot win, would we?
Third Spanish States

(OOC: I'm doing an entire phonetic alphabetic with this post :D)

The BlackWatch squadron has finished its mission and headed back to Third Spanish States, in a wing formation at a high altitude, after getting out of Amadjiah air space, BlackWatch 1 contacted the 5th refueling again:
"5th refueling, this is BlackWatch squadron, prepare launch to meet us in the designated point AB204, Over"
After a while the answer came
"Acknowledged, proceeding to designated point for performing aerial refueling on Black Watch in 2 hours"
And thus they made their way back to Third Spanish States.

Rescue Fleet, 200 kilometers from Amadjiah territorial sea

"Roberto Cazán, please proceed to the briefing room" the voice announced through the internal ship communicator. The soldier soon started to get down through the stairs until he reached a room with a projector and a computer. They were already wearing desert camouflage Type III light polymer armors

"Greetings everyone from the 4th Sea Blackguard! As you see, the Amadjiah Al 'Shakafka harbour is being heavily patrolled, as expected. However this give us two choices, to contour their country coast through north of that harbor, or to contour their country coast through south of it. There are some significant empty shores where we could offload our forces sneakily for this operations. However, a significant quantity of victims of oppression lie on that harbor, which gives us only one option if we don't want to give up on this: to infiltrate that city"

A display pointed the overall layout of the city and a suggested landing point for the fleet. "This is the overall plan those of you aware of the news already suggested, as you see, exactly several miles at the less patrolled south coast, we shall offload the Allende, Bakunin, Cortez, Dada, Emma, Ferrer and Greene fireteams, while a few miles ahead we shall offload Henry, Henry, Joseph and Kropotkin fireteams and finally Leroux, Makhno, Nestor, Orwell, Proudhon, Quincy, Rothbard, Stirner, Todd, Union, Voltairine, William, Xor, Yves, Zapata will land on this, far away from patrols point from where they shall give support to the smaller operations, each team must spread out before reaching the city to reduce detection chances."

"Not a bad idea", Cazán replied, "But what if instead of going straight through the city we simply sneaked in the refug... I mean, concentration camp and rescued them from there while the other teams positioned to distract them from a safe and tactically advantageous terrain, should it become necessary?"
"Cazán, this is a good suggestion. Everybody to your computers to vote on it!"
Soon the results were given, most have approved the plan.
The fleet started to turn its direction to south before even touching the territorial sea of Amadjiah, and it would take them more a couple of hours to arrive.

Chairman Salazar digested the report from the seething Gen. Insierto. the old soldier could handle his own superior's indecision but the patriot in him was incensed over the treatment of his fellow Visayans. It took a an immense effort on the part of the Chairman to restrain his hotheaded subordinate from plunging into Amadjiah with his brigade. He was furious too but he would be dead before he sabotaged the negotiations. But the important thing was that each Visayan was accounted for as they were all safe in a Federation airfield. What remained was to reunite families and loved ones that were ripped apart by the Amadjis. Difficult but not impossible. However if they treated foreigners guaranteed safety by the Amadjiahn leader like this, Salazar could only wonder how the other 'undesirables' were faring.

Gen. Abdul Bair Hassan ben Naggoroth,

The Federation thanks you for granting safe passage for our citizens out of your country. The evacuation was not as smooth as we would have wished but we were able to extract our nationals nonetheless. However, we are concerned with the plight of the refugees in light of conditions on the ground that suggest many of them will not be able to find a way to safely make their way out of Amadjiah. Therefore, we request permission for the 22nd Airlift Wing to reenter Amadjiahn airspace to begin taking refugees to be repatriated to the Visayas. We will also send our navy to augment the FMA transports if you will grant us permission. Once again, we affirm your sovereignty and will not send armed ships and aircraft into your territory. Their armed escorts shall at all times maintain a respectful distance from Amadjiah. Lastly, to prevent the chaos of the previous evacuation, we will be sending a group of diplomats to link up with the Amadjiahn authorities.

Messrs. Sover and Neniven of the Fanboyists

Since we would be involving ourselves in this conflict for the same purpose-that is to evacuate refugees-we propose that our people on the ground link up and work together. We are sending Ambassadors Torres and Rakim to head our evac team. They shall approach you to establish some means of coordination. We await your response and hope it is a favorable one.

Aragasolian troopers were shocked by the onslaught by the savage warlike tribesmen as they had to fight hand to hand with the frontline tribesmen as other tribesmen 'snipers' took pot shots that neutralized one or two soldiers heads and wounded and killed several more. However, the Aragasol commander was able to maintain a breaker point and his troops were able to fix bayonette and form two lines. The first line knealt and stabbed at the tribesmen that were using their weapons as clubs while the second line were able to counter act the 'snipers'.

After a good thirty minutes the tribesmen had been defeated with 30 tribesmen dead along with 17 Aragasolian troopers with another 56 soldiers suffering various wounds.

Seas off the coast of Amadjiah, Praetorian Naval Corps OPARR Fleets Four and Five
The pair of fleets had crossed into Amadji territorial waters a few minutes before, and were now steaming forward, bound for the shores. They were close now, and beneath the decks of the large amphibious assault ships at the center of the fleet, the men had already begun to load.

There were six-thousand soldiers, one-hundred Mekhev-II main battle tanks, as well as roughly one-thousand armored personnel carriers, and a few hundred artillery and light vehicles. The advance landing companies were loading into the fleet's large LCACs. Above them, soldiers were going through similar preparations to board the fleet's series of naval transport helicopters.

Already in the air, the Praetorian pilots were remaining tight over the fleet, with thirty of the F-63K Tengry fighters obeying their nearly reflexive commands. Slowly, a small fleet of helicopter gunships, as well as a pair of ASW helicopters, was taking to the air, to be followed by thirty-two of the helicopter transports.

A small stretch of pebble beach had been identified as a probable landing zone, specifically, it's appeal as an area outside of any of the major population centers meant there would be only light civilian and paramilitary interference, as the march began.
The first boots to hit the ground would be the eight-hundred helicopter-borne soldiers. The gunships would remain to provide over-watch as they established a beachhead, and as soon as the first thirty-two helicopters turned around, the second thirty-two helicopters lifted off from the decks of the second amphibious fleet. These helicopters, however, were not carrying uniquely soldiers. A dozen light artillery pieces, and a small stock of ammunition would follow them. This second wave would increase the beach-force to twelve-hundred, and twelve artillery pieces.

Vice Admiral Padenga stood watching, as he often did, as his first wave of helicopters rode off into the early-morning mist forming along the sea-coast. He could do little but watch, in fact. He had chosen to restrain bombardment, largely because it would serve to do little other than dislodge some nature, but also because, even while doing nothing to make the landings easier, it would help to identify the location of the beachhead, and make the landings and push inland even harder.

And so he watched. The coast was not yet in sight yet, they were barely inside the territorial waters of Amadijah, and had miles yet to go. Only then would the bowels of the amphibious fleet be emptied, as the first Praetorian amphibious operation since Galation began.

There had been no resistance then, but only because the archipelago had been blanketed by nuclear attack by Pudite allies before the occupation. Now, it served as a major foreign Praetorian instillation, as well as the training ground of the Imperial Janissary Corps of Mr. White - a force the Praetorian officers were specifically resisting by embarking on this operation for themselves...

This time, however, they would be prepared for more resistance than the last operation. Although the landing was expected to be unopposed, after that, there were no assumptions.

It had begun.

To whom it may concern;

I thank you for your concern, but seeing as your nation openly subscribes to, and forces upon its citizens, the degenerate philosophies of atheism -- a worse sin than any other faith, as it denies even basic morality -- and socialism, which has ruined thriving and productive societies by creating systems of forced equality and lowering the true faith to but another "belief system"; I am hardly surprised that you fail to see what the impure have done wrong.

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/LordBelacqua/MIAUpload.png

How very naive of you.

We force nothing upon our citizens - this may be a novel concept to you. Barronian citizens have free choice of religion - the government, and thereby the country, is officialy atheist. The fact that you have an official religion is of no concern to us - the fact that you brainwash your citizens to follow it is. One does not require a magical sky-faerie to be moral - but one can use a magical sky-faerie to be immoral, as you so obviously show.

Your inability to understand socialism is to your detriment. Our nation is thriving; it is productive. The fact that we have decided to secure the future of all of our citizens by refusing market entry to areas that are essential to the operation of a nation is something we should be congratulated for. But we will not bandy words about economics with you of all people - you are hardly deserving of this message, let alone a debate.

We also announce that we are fully behind the Pudian aggression against your nation. In the unlikely event that the Pudian forces need any form of assistance, logistical, attacking or otherwise, we stand ready.

The refugees shall be transported to the landing zone by AGF soldiers.

fleet
The Amadji Navy was far from blind to the several fleets converging on its waters. But it knew that it had a geographical advantage. Rather than going forth to engage the enemy ships with its own inferior numbers, it had simply mined the furthest point of the inlet that was Amadjiah's only opening to the sea. Beyond the invisible but potent minefield there awaited the cruisers, destroyers, frigates, cutters, gunboats and submarines. Backing them up would be land-based missile and gun batteries and a variety of aircraft.

The TSS fleet, being based around stealth, was the lowest-profile of the fleets; and indeed, the Amadji were far more concerned with the Pudite ships. Very little information had been gathered on the TSS fleet, apart from the observation that a fleet existed; it was still too far away to be of concern, anyway.

That is permissible. The locations of the demilitarized zones and refugee camps are already public knowledge, and airbases are still accepting landings from foreign nations for the next twelve hours.

Soldiers all along the ill-defined but heavily fortified border were on alert; tanks and artillery were already set up, and all that remained was to pinpoint the locations of the interlopers. It was uncertain what exactly the Aragasolians sought; they did not head towards the demilitarized zones to liberate refugees, and the DMZ were emptying out anyway, whereas the "re-education camps" were nowhere near the border.

The locations of two separate groups of invaders were espied by reconnaissance aircraft, deployed from the sole airbase in the mountainous region, set in a massive open bedrock field just below the peak of Nashir ub Ano. One group, heading down a dry riverbed, would pass close enough to a small military base that it could be intercepted without too much trouble. The other group was the group we have already seen; bitten, but lightly, by greedy tribesmen. They in turn are under surveillance by a small troop of Amadji regulars, which has made no move yet only because it is outnumbered about fifteen to one. By the closest path, the nearest military base to that troop is only two kilometers.

Fleet number two
The Pudite fleet was not exactly going to get into Amadjiah unopposed. Now standing against it, in a widely distributed but potent mass, was the bulk of the Amadji Naval Forces. As soon as the fleet crossed into Amadji waters, it fell at risk to minefields -- as already described -- and the old but reliable and functional vessels whose missiles and guns were trained upon the invaders.

Into the air already was a squadron of Amadji fighters, crewed by highly trained but only moderately loyal pilots; dozens of the aircraft growled into the air as red alerts flashed across airfields. Armed with missiles, bombs, and machine-guns, the fighters advanced to engage the enemy, firing weapons as they banked and sailed through the skies as an evening-dance of migrating geese. A second squadron, meanwhile, emerged from hangars at a different airbase, preparing to take off should the first squadron be defeated.

On land, while nobody knew exactly where the enemy would attempt a landing, armies were briefed and prepared to stand guard at a few key locations that, to advance into the nation proper, the Pudites would have to pass. These were within "The Bottleneck", the six-kilometer-wide by fifty-kilometer-long strip of land that enclosed in its entirety the Shakaf Inlet, Amadjiah's only opening to the sea. Deployment would take quite some time, of course; but the Amadji assumed that it would be quite some time before the Pudites could get far enough past the ANF to land their troops.

Leaving :(

"That is fine," the General said with a sigh. "It appears our discussion has been in vain. I have other matters to attend to, now."

He too quitted the room along with his associate. For now there remained to the General the prosecution of a war.

The C-130 landed, and the diplomats were beckoned forward. A marine handed him a paper, and pointed to the crate on a dolly. The crate, which had printed on the side "Fabrique en Yanitaria", was pulled partially out of the plane, and the Chevalier parked right behind it, so that it was aligned with the crate and plane. Boutella called an guard from the airport, and asked him to fetch the general.

He smiled and said "We have a present for him that he'd love very much, and I would like to present it to him and explain it's operation personally."

The guard said impassively, "Well, thank you very much sir, but our security policy prevents anything from going directly to the General. See, it's like this, anything that comes into the country has to go through security even if it's the General's personal luggage, that's just the way it works, sir."

A marine pulled down a part of the side of the crate, revealing hay, and a lot of AY-112 4th Generation Assault Rifles. The Chevalier attached it's tow hook to the front of the crate, and the marine put the side back on the crate with a nail gun.

The truck pulled the box totally out of the way.

Amadjiah Territorial Waters, Shakaf Inlet, Pudite 4th and 5th OPARR Fleets
Vice Admiral Padenga reviewed the screen, watching as the tiny colored lights on his end of the screen moved slowly across. Explaining, the officer sitting before him said, "Sir, our radar has picked up a foreign fleet moving into the bay - directly ahead."

"How many - and of what?" he said, staring intently at the tiny lights, as if they were the ones he was speaking to,

"Sir, there are at least as many ships out there as in our fleet, but they appear of older make."

"Capital ships?"

"Looks like there might be a few, sir, although we cannot determine if they have any carriers..."

"Good. Aircraft?"

"Yes sir, our squadrons in the sky have been alerted and are preparing to engage now, and our fighters not yet up are launching. We'll have sixty planes up inside five minutes."

The Admiral stood back up, striding back to the center of his bridge, "I don't intend to try and force the strait. We'll engage their fleet - but a gunfight would be unwise with only the Pride and the Wrath. Have the Lionfish prepare to engage with VLS, hold the rest of the fleet's salvo in reserve, and be careful to stay outside of cannon range."

"Targets sir?"

"Knock 'em off, biggest to smallest. Keep the Adari prepared to repel aircraft, otherwise, prioritize targets for Lionfish first, then for the rest of us."

"Yes sir."

There was a crackle of radio and the rapid tapping of keys being rapidly manipulated, as the order rippled out of the bridge of the battleship to the entirety of the fleet. A moment later, the order came:

"Give them the first volley..."

Meanwhile, a few thousand feet above, one of the last things the Pudite fighter pilots saw as they roared out over the sea was the great billowing clouds of smoke erupting from the twenty-four Lionfish-class frigates as just over two-thousand and three-hundred TD-ASM-1 anti-ship missiles propelled themselves up and over the fleet - bound for the largest of the Amadji cruisers and other assorted warships.

However, those would not be the last of the casualties here. The thirty pilots who had been in the air when the enemy fighters were detected were now making radar contact with the foreign craft, preparing a lock for their medium-ranged missiles.

Captain Danilo Konoval was a pilot - specifically, a Pudite fighter pilot. His F-63 Tengry fighter was even now confirming his lock on what appeared to him as a little red outline of a fighter jet on his screen. That was all he knew about the man who he was preparing to engage. He had never seen him, or his plane. He had never heard of the country he was from, but that didn't matter. He wanted that man dead. He was Pudite. He was Praetorian.

Captain Konoval flipped a single switch, and beneath his seat, he knew a door had just opened up, depositing a single missile into the atmosphere. That missile then proceeded to launch forward, guided by its radar guidance system, towards whomever the man he had just attacked actually was. Soon, he hoped, that man would be dead.

Even as Konoval's missile dropped and launched, the enemy's ordinance was picked up on radar. A storm of missiles was detected moving rapidly towards the advancing Pudite fighters. Konoval, like his comrades beside him, knew exactly what to do.

As the missiles neared, the first line of defense hummed gently into action. A small pod at the rear of each plane emitted a radar pulse, matched as closely as possible to the radar frequency guiding the enemy missiles. It would disable their guidance, and they would proceed to speed off into nowhere, fall out of the sky, or even simply explode where they were at the time.

Following the radar jammer, the ubiquitous chaff and flares were thrown, either further baffling the onrushing radar guided missiles, or - if the enemies missiles were not radar-guided at all - or distracting the thermal-guided weapons.

No matter what countermeasures were taken, there was always a certain degree of fatality; there was no way around it. Seconds after the missiles were detected, the aircraft and the missile swarm collided, and of those missiles that remained, the result was often explosive. However, there was yet one weapon left unused. As the foreign missiles closed, small pods on the wings of the aircraft emitted concentrated microwave blasts, destroying the wiring and delicate electronics of the weapons. For those missiles that were hit, the result was a twenty-thousand foot fall into the sea...

Unfortunately, they were followed seconds later by the wreckage of four aircraft - once worth more than one-hundred and fifty million dollars - now worth nothing.

The battle had been joined, truly.

Sheldon found his plane, as he had left it, and re-fueled. He had no problem getting of the ground and began heading toward the carrier he had left. As he watched the coast disappear below him he saw activity in the direction of the carrier. As he neared he saw it was a battle. It was large, and if he attempted to go around it he would not have enough fuel to reach the carrier. He had no choice but to hope that neither side would fire upon a plane bearing the markings of the Beatusian Navy. He was however not sure about being in a fighter plane, even if it was an outdated propeller aircraft.

The flyboys of the 22nd Arlift Wing were getting tired but they were ordered to return to Amadjiah to take in refugees fleeing the genocide. they also had two very important passengers with them. Ambassador Patrick Torres was a thin good-natured diplomat sent to somehow prevent the previous evacuation's chaos. with him was his good friend Yusuf Rakim, a member of the Muslim Orom minority and the grandson of a clan chieftain. He didn't look too intimidating but a lot of fools stupid enough to besmirch the honor of the Rakim's found this to be a mistake. the flight back was swift as the pilots had gotten used to the route thanks to their frequent crisscrossing into the country. a few hours after Torres boarded a C130, he was in a refugee camp setting up his teams command post and looking for the person in charge, if there was one.

To Mr. Kennith G. Terrance;

We cannot permit armed Marines to set foot upon Amadji land. To do so would be to commit an act of war against Amadjiah itself. Unless the Marines leave their weapons behind upon their transports and bear only nonlethal weapons onto the LZ, their safety cannot be guaranteed. The refugees shall be transported to the landing zone by AGF soldiers.

Rescue fleet, Approaching the coast of Amadjiah

Rather than going further through the inlet to reach the city of Al 'Shakafka, the fleet landed on a nearby deserted shore, far away from it, and offloaded 20 low profile Hacha Infantry Fighting Vehicles to transport the 104 Blackguards of 26 different teams, and later almost a hundred of refugees through the rest of the travel back to the small fleet. The conflict with a much larger force raging further ahead would probably keep them too occupied to care about a much smaller force sneaking through their borders to rescue a bunch of victims of the genocide and only engage if attacked first. The vehicles with camo netting and specifically made desert camo paint couldn't pass 60 kilometers per hour in the off-road route they were taking, thus it would take them a few more hours to reach the city of Al 'Shakafka. Also they would stop on half of their travel to wait for the night to come.

While we do not support your religious intolerance, we fully support your oppression of the Leftists. Anarchists are proven scum, and hundreds of millions, possibly billions, have died because of them. Most other Leftists are anti-economy and can ruin a nation just as easily as an anarchist.

That being said, we will NOT deploy any forces, as you are allowing them to take refuge, and you are allowing them to live. We also, as said before, congratulate you in eradicating the Left within your nation.

A wee little trade deal!
The guard was not as stupid as he looked, and he understood exactly what Boutella meant although outwardly he affected puzzlement. "Oh, well, in that case, I'll let him know."

The guard made a phone call. "He'll be here in about fifteen minutes, sir."

And indeed, the General did arrive within a quarter of an hour, in a private car, with curiously ample room in behind. He emerged from the passenger seat and came towards the Yanitarian.

Fleet

OOC: So wait.... you have a frigate (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d0/HMAS_Darwin_%28FFG_04%29.jpg/800px-HMAS_Darwin_%28FFG_04%29.jpg) that can fire 96 missiles? Must be at least slightly misclassified then, or they're pretty small missiles. Well, granted.

IC:
The scene in the air had degenerated into a large and disorganised dogfight, marked by explosions and the chatter of gunfire. As the Amadji fighters closed to visual range, the missiles approached them and they responded swiftly with evasion, electronic countermeasures, and decoys to draw off the twenty-first century's answer to the arrow. Four of the enemy's fighters had fallen; due to their concentration and number, the Amadji could not expect such low casualties and so seven of the aircraft were reduced to smoking heaps of scrap metal.

But now beyond-visual-range missiles became irrelevant as the Amadji took the initiative, opening up with short-range missiles and their machine guns. As they battled in three dimensions, the Amadji fighters broke into pairs to showcase daring tandem maneuvers, striking from odd angles, revealing a wealth of simple but effective tactics to draw enemy planes into their fire, and to destruction. Each individual tactic was successful perhaps two or three times before the enemy fighters caught on and learned the equally simple means to avoid the traps; and besides, they had one more thing on their side. Namely, the enormous number of missiles now fast approaching the arrayed warships of the Amadji Navy.

At first, the Amadji fighters mistook these for a second wave of enemy aircraft; by the time that it became clear that they could be no such thing, the planes had already cast scores of air-to-air missiles upon the rainbow of fire forming a beautiful display through the cloudless sky. Now depleted, the vast majority of the fighters simply turned and fled for airbases, not wishing to fight on to their deaths when they could remain alive for better pay. Only a few hardy souls remained on to fight against the opposing aircraft until driven to last desperate kamikaze missions against the insufficiently armed troop transports down below.

Meanwhile, the Navy was in chaos. A massive wave of missiles swept towards them; at least forty to each ship. Practically every measure available to the captains was used. Electronic jamming, to throw the missiles off course; use of anti-air missiles with cluster bursts, to destroy several missiles at a time; finally it fell to the small guns of the ships to cut down missiles even as they entered terminal stage and prepared to meet their mark within the vessels. It was a remarkably good show for a first encounter; but five ships were sunk, another three or four badly damaged and with eight suffering light damage.

Now there was a momentary pause. While all this had been going on, Fleet Command had done some analysis. (OOC: I'm not much of an electronics person, so bear with me.) It had paid close attention the radar systems of the enemy ships; and it had recorded the limits of their air and sea search systems. For between the two there is an ever narrowing dead zone which is not covered by radar; while almost null close to the fleet, it is sufficiently large when far from the fleet as to be invisible. Most intelligent fleet commanders use a secondary detection system to cover this dead zone, and indeed the Pudites had an assortment of visible equipment, probably for that very purpose. And the radar systems of frigates, corvettes and smaller ships cover at least part of the dead zone.

But here the beauty of the flightpath came in. It remained under the air search ceiling throughout, and only entered the sea search range when extremely close to the ships; more so, the missiles Fleet Command intended to use were painted with materials capable of absorbing light, making laser detection useless, and gave off little heat (especially as compared with the exceptionally hot Amadji climate), rendering infrared difficult. Finally, they were laser guided, and so could not be successfully jammed by radar. A reaction time of five minutes was therefore cut down to thirty-five seconds for smaller ships, twenty seconds for aircraft carriers and battleships; and this was deemed acceptable to the Amadji commanders.

(OOC: did that make any sense at all or am I just rambling?)

Three hundred missiles were cold launched from on land and immediately rose slightly to maintain their trajectory, which would take them only slightly to the north of the Amadji fleet. At almost exactly the same time, Amadji ships launched over twelve hundred more conventional missiles, these however protected from varieties of jamming by hardening of the electronic systems. The primary targets were aircraft carriers and troop/vehicle transports, although cruisers and large ships were likewise targeted.

A second and larger squadron of aircraft was already en route to the battle area, this one armed primarily with bombs and anti-ship missiles, although a sufficient number carried anti-air missiles to engage the enemy aircraft.

refugees
The few refugee camps that remained were just as disorganised and squalid as they had been at the beginning of the mass exodus. There was nobody in charge in any official capacity, although a gaunt middle-aged gentleman in slightly less tattered clothing was the first to appear to Torres and speak to him in a remotely understandable language.

"Qui es-tu?" he bellowed from before a ramshackle tent. "D'oú viens?"

There followed a brief unbroken silence as several disheveled and nearly naked children poked their heads around the flap of the tent, and more refugees started to emerge from the sparse vegetation and almost invisible tents scattered across the area. Men, women, children; some of them cradled infants, others carried sacks with their worldly possessions. Only a few wore clean clothing and they all displayed signs of undernourishment. In the silence a few racking coughs and the wailing of an unattended infant were distantly audible.

bullets
To Mr. Kennith G. Terrance;

That is understood and acceptable. Your Marines will be permitted to land.

Landing

The rescuers encountered almost nobody on their way. Near the sea the terrain was sandy and hilly, with dunes and small plants, the only signs of life insects, scorpions, and the occasional wild rabbit. The terrain gradually and imperceptibly began to give way to savanna. About an hour into their journey the men encountered a small river and, on its banks, a village of no more than a hundred inhabitants; some of them came out to stare at the newcomers, perhaps questioning why they headed for Amadjiah with its warfare and dictatorship.

The bushes slowly became trees, and by nightfall they passed through a vast and silent pine forest. Ancient old-growth trees a hundred feet high were on either side of them, with very little undergrowth to block the eye's view into the trackless distance. The sand of the ground was covered by a thick carpet of needles, and every now and then, alerted by the sounds of the vehicles, the sounds of pawsteps -- sometimes galloping, sometimes heavy and lumbering, sometimes fleet and almost silent. The men made camp that night with the uneasy sense that something was watching them.

The pine forest was an anomaly. One of the last such stands of trees remaining in the area, pines such as this had flourished throughout the region millennia ago; now there were few left, and once the General found out about this forest it was likely he would have it entirely logged and the forest floor drilled for oil. This forest existed only because a coastal bluff prevented the sea air from entering its valley, and the hills and mountains on either side kept it relatively isolated. Likely the TSS troops were the first humans to set foot upon its virgin soil.

The following day they would resume their trek through the forest; still curiously silent, as though no bird resided there. Then they climbed out of the valley and reentered more arid terrain; the savanna stretched before them almost uninterrupted as far as Al 'Shakafka. But long before they reached the city they would encounter the various Amadji armies stationed to await the arrival of Pudite troops.

Give peace a chance! said he as he reloaded.

We would like to began sending in V-22’S and C-130 J’S to take out the refuge population and move our wasp close to shore to pick them up.
We would also request to send a diplomat to your government office to act as a mediator for us with the logistics to get the refuges out

Scott Tree to all other forces: I ask for a neutral site for each one of you to send a diplomat for talks I will grantee that each reprehensive will not be harmed and will be protected.

Sheldon's plane continued on its course, which took it right through the thick of the dog fight. He tried to fly low under it, but the planes were everywhere. Missiles were exploding all around him, and it took all of his skill as a pilot to avoid enemy planes, and bullets. He attempted to radio the carrier of his situation, but he didn't get any response, except static, so he didn't know if it got through. Then he was something falling ahead of him, but it was too late to avoid it. His wing clipped the ejected pilots parachute, tearing a hole right through it.

Greetings,

We understand the turmoil your country must be currently going through and want to wish you the best of luck in the coming months. Changes of this proportion tend to act as double edged swords.

Although we cannot condone the killings of the innocent, what happens within the borders of other nations simply is not something we wish to get involved with.

What we do wish to offer is access to our wide assortment of... defenses. As a nation, research and development has been our top priority, leading to some very effective "remedies" to common day military threats.

We await your response, as we are very excited about any possible trade agreements with your newly situated nation.

It was by a stroke of luck and by the best possible choices of the best terrains regarding topography, inclination and visibility for themselves and for potential hostile forces ahead, based on the collected geographic data from the recon aircrafts who came there before, that they fortunately spotted the formations of Amadjiah Army before their vehicles could be spotted. They immediately stopped and started to retreat their vehicles well behind the slopes of some small terrain elevations, hiding completely their silhouettes from the stationed troops but also not having any direct line of fire to them. Soon the blackguards were offloaded, including three Blackguards who rather than additional magazines, were carrying with them several parts of a mounted-on-field portable and modular SIGINT equipment, to attempt to listen to the military radio frequences of the Amadjiah forces and later, of their invaders as well.

"We should observe them from here, these forces are too big to be here just because of us. I suggest us to take the safest route further away from the coast to detour them once they are too busy fighting whoever invader they are waiting for.", Roberto suggested as he took a binocular to peek at their troop formations.

Considering that the other options were a suicide rush or to return home empty-handed, they agreed on establishing a low-profile observation operation in that location as long as the Amadjiah forces aren't too busy to care about them. Some of them went further behind to set some improvised tents, as one of the 20 IFVs was conveniently improvised as a supply carrier instead, from where they took their rations, water, folded inflatable tents and sleeping bags, which still were enough for about one or two weeks. They knew they should be able to fend off for themselves, even if it meant some of them would be too busy with logistics to be combat-ready.

The three electronic specialists of the Blackguards, also obviously trained with the use of firearms, stealth and in combat tactics, were busy assembling and connecting to a portable computer the radio signals interception device, which was basically a glorified radio receiver adapted for SIGINT, from where it would passively capture waves from the existing forces, of course not being a perfect tool for its function, there was a 5% chance that it wouldn't actually capture anything at all and the chances of intercepting highest priority communications would be of an equally low percentage, although common radio communications between sarges, lieutenants and captains would probably be caught by it. And that not considering the possibility all nearby forces used encrypted transmissions, which would requires at least 3 days of decryption works.

Soon they set up their hidden camps, safely far away from the future battlefield to come. And then they simply awaited with discretion as the SIGINT device was activated to capture radio transmissions, not firing a single shot against the Amadjiah forces but instead keeping to themselves.

----------

The rescue naval fleet had retreated further away from the inlet and started to move back to international waters, as it was too risky for them to remain there much longer. They would return once they received the information that the blackguards were coming back with the refugees they would rescue.

Little more than a hundred... the plan was to simply identify the greatest minds, the most honest and the best human beings among those victims and take them and their families to Third Spanish States. Some would question such a method to select which refugees to help, but they believed it was for the best of mankind.

An acceptance of the trade deal?

Boutella motioned the general forward, and had the marine take the side off again.

He reached into the crate, and pulled out a stunningly beautiful, pearl furnished, gold inlaid AY-142. The metal parts were silver plated, and it was heavy, around 10kg.

"We also have one more little present, I believe you will find most pleasant. If you'd step over here with me."

It was worse than Torres expected. The so called refugee camps were shanty towns filled with sick, emaciated and exhausted after walking for days to find safety from crazed lynch mobs and anti-Christian militia. The makeshift tents were filthy, flies were everywhere and the sick were lying, and many were actually dying, out in the open. There was hardly any food, clothing and shelter let alone medical supplies. To make matters worse, the only thing that kept the camps from falling to the smoldering chaos of the rest of the country were the assurances.

Luckily, his team included doctors, nurses and a few engineers and construction workers to help him find some way to provide for the refugees. Supplies were also pouring in by the hour courtesy of the Federation Air Force. Now all he needed was someone to show him who needed what kind of help. Torres turned to the man in tattered clothing. "Do you speak English, sir?"

With the Diplomat’s and representatives at the government headquarters tell them what we were going to do ahead of time so we could have clean corridors to fly over. The movement to get the refuges out of the country begin we let them know when operations were going to happen and where so they know we were not here to invade just get refuges out and to Copeland Island.

The Wasp Carrier’s moved in close to shore escorted by four Ticonderoga’s, 8 Arleigh Burke Destroyers, 12 Littoral, and 4 Virginia Class Subs as the V-22’s flew from the deck to head to the closest refuge camp. The major advantage to the Virginia and the Littoral‘s was the were meant to work in sallow water. The representative present from the government said how impressive the latest Wasp Class Carrier and its fleet were. The C-130 J’s flew over head escorted by F-35 B’s and C’s with the V-22’s being followed by Apace Long bow’s Bock III. Over head the E-767’s and the EA-18 Growers watched for any attack from the air, ground, or sea aided by MQ-9 Reapers. The Burrell was also present with its F-35 C’s and F-18 Super Hornets. Convoy of aircraft reached the first camp refuge camp the pilot radioed “This is Scott Tree’s refuge relief effort we are carrying food and will carry out refuges requesting permission to land.”

Amadjiah Territorial Waters, Shakaf Inlet, Pudite 4th and 5th OPARR Fleets
Far above the fleet, the battle had been joined. In the melee, another three Pudite aircraft had been downed, and four more were returned to their carriers with extensive damage. However, the second fleet's aircraft had now joined the fray, and another thirty fighters bore down on those few Amadjiahni pilots who had stayed to fight.

(OOC: I'm gonna go with your 'blind spot' thing, because I know as much as you do about stuff like that, and it sounded good enough)

Below the air battle the fleet remained steady, in a sharp contrast to the tumult above. Approaching, the Amadjiahni missiles did, in fact, remain undetected through the long-range search radars. However, when approaching the fleet escort line, they were picked up with relative ease. They were, however, far to close now to deploy most missile-based ordinance.

CIWS jolted to life all throughout the fleet, tiny rounds streaming through the air, slicing missiles in two and filling the atmosphere with their shots. As the missiles continued to approach, chaff and flares flew up and out from the ship, followed by radar jamming and microwave blasts. However, even with a computerized system, some missiles penetrated Pudite defensive spheres, and the Helina-class battlecruiser Wrought by Faith was last seen having capsized, and sinking down into the water - gone in minutes.

The Executor-class logistics and amphibious landing ship Subject's Devotion was also damaged, along with a single missile hit on Vice Admiral Padenga's flagship, the Sovereign's Pride, disabling the A-turret.

As the Lionfish frigates prepared a second salvo, the remainder of the fleet let loose with their own missiles. The objective was to cripple the foreign fleet's capability to engage the Pudite capital ships, and so this volley too was directed at the largest foreign vessels.

Nearly two-thousand five-hundred missiles took to the air, leaving white pillars from the stationary black decks. It was a battle of attrition, and one Admiral Padanga needed to win to gain access to his prize.

Luckily, battles of attrition was the Dominion's specialty.

OOC: Sorry for the crappy post, but I didn't have much time.

IC: Red Tide Mainland Airbase #23...

The sound of the State Guardsmen which consisted of the 12th Guard Airborne Division marching on to their respective K-10 cargo airplanes was drowned out by the roar of the jet engines of the K-10 planes themselves. There were no audible words exchanged as the Guardsmen were loaded onboard the planes, only hand signals directing the Guardsmen here and there.

A Red Tidean Guard Airborne Division is essentially the same as a Semi-Motorised Light Infantry Division. Like all Red Tidean divisions, it consists of four brigades totalling 20,000 men. Like all men of the State Guard, the 12th Airborne's fighting men were equipped with Hallucinogenic Control Collars, which made them loyal to the point of death.

For now the men sat in their seats inside the cargo holds of their K-10's. The massive aircraft rolled down the runway and into the sky. Soon the 12th would join the 14th, the 18th, and the 10th Guard Airborne Divisions. In total, 80,000 men were now on their way to Amadjiah's two largest oil fields.

With the Arrival of Harpers Ferry Class Landing Ship docks and the San Antonio Landing Platform Dock Ship’s the fleet was complete.

Meanwhile the at the refugee camp the pilots we aloud to land the C-130J’s landed with a thud and V-22’s soft landed on the end of the runway. With the Apache helicopters, F-35C’B’, F-18 Super Hornets over head and E-767 with EA-18 Growers running support. Two Marines stepped out in full Future Force Warrior Gear wearing the latest Modular Tactical Vest Body Armor. The Weapons they were holding were the new XM-8 assault rifles and the MP-7 Side Arm as they looked to see a camp with a metal fence around it and the pilots emerged in their own Air Warrior Bock 3 Uniforms. As they started unloading food and supplies so they could make way for the refugees. One hour later the first V-22 were up in the air as other Ospreys came in and arrived at other camps. They were told to be on alert because the camps are near the oil field.

Over the time their Scott Tree was able to do what it had set out to do it was a hard task but was worth it. As the last of the V-22’s took off and said goodbye to this place Scott Tree army, Navy, and air Force departed the region for good. The last ships and air planes were flying or sailing home the operation which was complete success over 1,000,000 refuges had been saved and some were beginning their new lives in Scott Tree and else were. The troops came home to a hero welcome and Scott Tree was happy to see them come home. It was a proud day to know we got out of the region without shooting off a shot or being attack once. The only people that remained in the region was the diplomats and representatives that Scott Tree still had in hopes of one day seeing peace in the region.
