‘The History of the Commonwealth’
Military Calendar; Year 2009 – Earth
The United Commonwealth of Delesa is involved in a word wide epic war on the planet only know as ‘Earth’. Biological and Chemical warfare has raged on the planet for near 10 years. Humanity’s population has dwindled to the point of extinction. The Commonwealth has become only a fraction of what it used to be, an empire spanning the globe. Military and scientists understand that the world is no longer safe. They embark on a project to find a new home somewhere else in the universe.
The first capable space craft is created, HMDS. Hope. It is a crude vessel, but nonetheless it flies. A team is put on board and sent off in search.
Military Calendar; Year 2031
A suitable planet is found, very similar to earth’s climate and atmosphere. But the long journey has taken its toll. HMDS. Hope is broken beyond repair; communications could not be established, presumed at ‘Earth’s’ end. The team begins to unpack and settle down. They name the new planet ‘Nova Earth’ and the first city, built with the wreckage of the HMDS. Hope is named Cape Hope.
Military Calendar; Year 2033
As population begins to grow, the original crew erases most of the history from the databanks, hoping to encourage the new generations to start over. They taught them about the mistakes made and ways to avoid the same result, setting down rules for the government known as ‘Charter of Commonwealth Conduct’
Military Calendar; Year 2124
The population of Nova Earth has grown to 6.59 billion. The planet experiences it’s first war, ‘Creation War’ The planet is split on the choice to venture into space, which also brings up the question of the people’s origin, sparking a massive conflict. For years probes and satellites had been launched, but never had a human landed foot on another planet. Eventually the order is given and the moon is landed on. Shortly after a colony is constructed, named Terra Nova.
Military Calendar; Year 2131
Mining operations begin on the moon for precious metals. Discovery of an ancient crashed space ship is found. Research begins on the crash and the technology. Humanity has entered a new era, ‘Space Conquest’
Military Calendar; Year 2180
The Commonwealth of Nova Earth has expanded onto the limits of their galaxy. The first discovery of the now called ‘Ancient’ people on Terra Nova, technology in the Commonwealth took leap and bounds. As the Commonwealth expanded a large naval fleet was constructed to maintain security from any threat. Upon reaching the edge of the galaxy, ‘Ethas Galaxy’ as it’s now known as, humanity discovers another piece of Ancient technology, recognized by the same marking and language. It turns out to be a massive transport hub. It’s called a Mass Relay and it enables vessels to travel at faster then light speed to other Relays around the galaxy. Humanity quickly sets out to find the Ancient race expanding and settling colonies along the way.
Military Calendar; Year 2183
More wreckage of Ancient warships are found. Humanity comes to believe the Ancients were destroyed, but the Delesians don’t give up in their search. Now they seek to find out what happened to the Ancients.
