Hello all, long time no see. I would like to post an ad to join a new earth created and run jointly by Carloginias, Stoklomolvi, and myself. Some of you may know us from NationStates, others of you might be familiar with our off-site forums. Either way, the new earth is set in 1815 (as you may have guessed from the thread's title). Things are changing across the globe. If I may set the mood...

Napoleon has just been defeated at Waterloo and the war that has consumed Europe for years is over. The precise date is July 15th. Napoleon has just surrendered aboard the HMS Bellerphon. The last significant battle of the Napoleonic Wars (the Battle of Issy) has been fought. While there are still a handful of communities and centres still loyal to the old dictator (notable among them Longwy), peace has, for the most part, returned to Europe. But the world is changing. It is changing faster than ever before. New colonies are springing up while old ones are asserting themselves. The industrial revolution is reshaping everything man once knew about society. An emerging middle and working class are becoming the backbone of nations. Empires are expanding to sizes never before seen or imagined in history. New technologies, innovations, and scientific discoveries rock the very foundations of learning and knowledge. Reason and religion still battle furiously. Economies grow to never before seen levels overnight. Peoples rise and peoples are subjugated. Borders expand. Learning and creativity reach new heights. The largest armed forces ever amassed (both land and naval) march and sail the globe. It is the dawn of a new and exciting age.

Achem, right... back to the RP. The RP has recently opened off-site (Invisionfree Powerboards) and is really begun to take off. All the rules and claims are posted there if you're interested in joining. I'm really confident that this will turn out to be a good one.

Bump...this is interesting, and considering E1890 for some reason died, I recommend people from there and those interested in the era join.

Yeah, but it's going really well, I recommend people who enjoy historical RPs join. But don't take my word for it, read the above testimonials!

Seriously, folks, there are still some big nations ready to be claimed. The colonization game is heating up pretty quickly; grab a nation and join in before it's too late!

May I claim PNG (Paupa New Guinea)? (and other nearby landmasses/island chains)

Agreed, Russia has been taken, but France, Austria, and plenty of second and third tier nations are still available.

And Hurtful Thoughts, it's preferred if you filled a larger nation's roll, but on the other hand it would just be great if you joined up.

And seeing as how this is a post-Napoleonic RP, France is, ah, kind of important. I'd switch to France myself, but a) I loathe the idea of France as a monarchy and b) i've invested far too much effort into my precious Sweden-Norway to give it up.

Oh, and Hurtful Thoughts, i'm pretty sure that claims are supposed to be made a forum for them to be valid (though it's not run by me, so i'm not 100% certain). Just a heads-up there.

I agree with you on A, but USA said he doesn't want anybody switching countries. Plus then I'd lose your company's support for my revolution.

And Hurtful Thoughts, it's a historical RP. So you may be able to register as a company, but it would have to be affiliated with a RL nation. So, you could, of course, claim a RL nation (such as France) and then RP jointly as both the monarchy and the East India/Pacific company.

Means I'd have to rethink claiming France then won't I?

Korea or Siam.... *Flips coin*
If I take Siam I get to RP with NPCs for awhile, but I get a weaker country. (Which appears mostly British influence during 1815 during Buddha Loetla Nabhalai's riegn)

With Korea I get a stronger country but will get hammered with the Chinese and Japanese every time they fight...
And Korea was a Chinese territory back in 1670's till the Japanese came through... So that's no fun...

The map, I believe, is severely outdated. Don't worry about it. As for France, the guy that claimed it before hasn't shown up in ages, so it's pretty much open again. You could pick Vietnam, but they're not so important at the moment... then again, neither is Siam. Korea I wouldn't recommend, as you'll most likely end up being China's/Japan's/Russia's bitch. If you're really wanting an Asian nation, Siam or Vietnam would be my recommendations.

Map's not outdated, as it only shows which nations one can RP. I wouldn't be Korea, (probably saying that just 'cuz I'm Japan) but Vietnam and Siam do give you more freedom, with Siam probably being preferable.
