It was a sunny day on the grey paved urban streets, the millions of people who lived and worked in this giant ants nest, each made their way towards their respective positions in life, Away from the crowd, seated at a table out of the way, under an awning, away from the sun, sat a couple dressed in the average streetwear of Janeau, not the city, but the nationstate on which it sat, these two people sat staring across the table, "What do you suppose they think of us?" The woman asked, disturbing the quiet over the table.
IndentThe man turned to look at the crowd, his gun showing through the jacket he wore, "Right now? I dunno." The woman looked at him, miffed at such a short answer, "I think... well, they say that the average Janeauan doesn't like the law enforcement until they actually end up needing them." He smiled at such a good answer.
IndentShe took her mug of coffee and sipped a little, "Well that's a shame, do they realise the alternative is Anarchy or fascism?" She asked, the man was now looking quite worried at the amount of questions, "But it makes me sad, no matter how much we do, how many crims we put away, we're never going to have Crime beaten." She now stared at her coffee, awaiting a response.
IndentThe man leant in closer, smiling at his female partner, "It's like you said, the alternative is fascism, the best we can do is try to keep the order whilst they go about their lives, our nation isn't like Jagnan, and I pray that it never is." The two smiled and embraced in a kiss before returning to their seats.
IndentThe woman sat, staring at the sky until she squinted, "What do you think they feel about us? As a couple?" She asked, he looked quite shaken by the question and hesitated initially to answer.
Indent"Ignoring that we're the ones who enforce the law, I think they imagine us as a couple, which we are, and which is a good thing to have thought about anyone." He smiled again, she smiled and laughed a little back.
IndentA few Police cars ran by, alarms ringing, which immediatly grabbed the attention of the couple, "You reckon something's going on?" She asked as a few more cars could be heard in the distance.
IndentGrabbing his radio, the man pressed the button on the side, "Dispatch, anything going on?" There was the hiss of silence, "Dispatch, this is Detective Ferhnou, do you have anything for me?" Again the radio hissed, "C'mon, we need to-" His orders were cut short as a loud alarm began to sound throughout the city, "Shit! Jagnan bombing?" He asked to himself.
IndentA large grey cloud blotted out the sun, the two detectives pulled out their pistols, "Everybody, get inside!!!" The woman screamed, causing a panic as people rushed inside screaming, she picked up a lone child and ran inside, "Jame!!!" She screamed as the crowd pushed her inside, at that point the explosions began, the first immediatly pouncing the cars in the neighbourhood into action, screaming that someone was about to break in, the woman was pulled further inside as the crowd continued to scream and whimper.
IndentJame stood outside, his pistol drawn, a lucky hit could bag him an enemy fighter, listening for the familiar sound of an enemy propeller fighter he found himself waiting as another explosion dragged the Commerce Tower to the grey floor below, "Where the fuck are they coming from?" He asked, another explosion, possibly a secondary result of the Commerce Tower, it knocked Jame and twnty other people to their backs as overhead flew a beast of a machine, not a plane exactly, it looked like something from a comic book, nevertheless he fired wildly into the sky, causing some of the residual pedestrians to scream, no matter what his shots they all missed, the thing was far too fast.
IndentAs cars screeched to a halt and horns began to blare, Jame got to his feet again, "This aint the Jagnan, fuck!" He screamed, opening out his revolver he changed the bullets quickly, stumbling on the last three and only half loading, behind him was a sudden wall of fire as the explosions intensified and ran up the street, "Fuck!" He cried again as the fire wreathed around him, pushing his flayed corpse backwards and slamming it under a pile of wrecked cars and twisted metal, his corpse was dragged down the street until it game to rest in a firey crater.
IndentThere were the sounds of a hundred or more muffled whimpers and screams, "Hi, my names Deko, what's yours?" Deko asked as she checked her revolver, "Look, I'm going to go outside for a second, you can look after yourself right?" The child nodded and Deko rubbed her shoulder, "Okay everyone, I'm Detective Deko Yaen, I need you all to remain calm whilst I ascertain our situation!" She cried, over the concerned voices and whipsers.
IndentRealising, when she got to the front of the coffee house, that the entrance and front facade was now almost blocked by an overturned car, she crawled underneath, snagging her top several times on the way, outside was hell, it was night dark out here, and fires bathed the whole scene in an orange glow, before she could make it out, a sudden downblast of force pushed her to the ground, looking up, she could see a light illuminating the street in front of her, the machine hovered around eight feet above her, it dropped six Titan like machines slowly to the street, they had to have been at least eight foot tall themselves.
IndentThe machine left, and these Titans stood, one red orb on their helmets was all that indicated life, everything else seemed an exaturation of the human form, one stood in front, decked out in red trim as if to purposefully stand out from his twins, "Kah! Nektah krogtan, HOH!" He shouted in an untelligable alien dialect, but the machines responded, pulling out magnificent bladed objects, "Kaaaah, degnan, teesh fortamn!" As scared as she was, Deko knew that she would have to at least hold off whatever the Jagnan military had come up with now.
IndentPulling herself quietly from out underneath the car, she pulled up her revolver and aimed for the back of one of the rear guard, saying anything now would be foolish, but as she pulled the trigger the machine seemed to anticipate it, it didn't do anything to avoid it and the bullet struck the thick plated armour, causing a mere black stain on the already matt black armour, the machine abandoned its group and motioned towards Deko, she pulled the trigger a further five times before whimpering in terror, "What are you?" She sheepishly asked, before the machine brought down his blade, easily cutting through the Detective, slicing her arms from their positions and resting her torso from its place, the blade continued before slicing easily through the twised metal of the opposite building, it took one last stare off towards the resturant before moving off.
==++++==
Looking down on procedures, like a god, the six foot monster cracked a smile, Wheras most Pirates would settle for a meager pittance to be found on the many hundred floating garbage cans out there, this man was ahead of the curb, his red armour reflecting off his sheen white-silver plating, "I want this planet stripped of resources and us ready to move on within the regular schedule, we have a lot of investors to keep happy and we have only ourselves to appease them." He beckoned to the rest of the cursed crew.
IndentThe man turned to look at the crowd, his gun showing through the jacket he wore, "Right now? I dunno."
