HOME was now under the protection of the Alversian/Xscipian navy's althought Kash did not wish this to be, it was his only alternative, save death. The hulking white station orbited a small planet, a dead world. Space was quite around the station, in the twilight one could see the station from the surface, almost as if it was a moon. No one could predict the chaos and death that would follow in the future to come, but as they say in death....comes life....

Far Reaches of Space

At the far reaches of space, nothing much was happening. A lone Pathfinder droned steadily onwards, conducting experiments for the Society in an attempt to satisfy their ever present hunger for knowledge.

Then on one of the scopes, an unfamiliar ship appeared. The Doctor-Captain of the ship began to hail it
"Unidentified vessel, state your designation and place of origin"

"Creatures have been identified as inferior species known as the Infected. Your specimens will be added to our knowledge. Prepare to be boarded"

OOC: How do Infected infect?

The Breeder began to charged its plasma cannons, the 12 Virus boarding frigats detached. " inferior....we are superior."

OCC: Well, you know how the imitators do it, well the infected soldiers have like a hole in there tounge and it is inserted into the back of the neck, where a infected cell mutates and transforms the body, similar to the imitator,s just not as affective.

The broadside of the Breeder opend with plasma cannons, the blue shots sped at the Pathfinder. The frigates were starting to be torn apart, black infected blood splaterd and disapated in space, the pathfinder had knock out 5 of them, the rest kept speeding on, closing in on there prey.

The plasma vibrated off the shields of the Pathfinder making them flex and shake

"Shields down to 70%"

There were more and more beam cannons firing into the Infected ships, so many now that the space between the ships was nothing more than pure energy

"Shield Frequencies isolated. Weapons configured"

"Fire"

Two powerful high energy beams fired from the Pathfinder and aimed for the Breeder. However, it merely bypassed the shields and connected with the Breeder itself.

OOC: I was thinking of turning the SASM into this kind of Species (http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/t/terminators.jpg). Each one is controlled by an Alien brain.

All but a few Viruses were left, the last two slammed into the Pathfinder and immediatly began to tear at the hull with there clawed tentacles, seeking to impregnate the ship. The energy beams hit the carapace of the Breeder, tearing through the hard outside, blood spurted out, the breeder changed course to evade the beams while it continued pounding with plasma fire.

The Xiscapian Captain of the Battleship Splinter in the Mind's Eye looked at the scans in front of him. "Impossible," he said, feeling very scared "there's no way in the Universe." The Scanner Officer looked grim. "Unfortunatly, Captain, it's happened. The scanners don't lie." The Captain nodded mutely. "Send a message to our Alversian counterparts. And get a probe out there, I want to see this for myself!"
MESSAGE FROM THE HOME TASK FORCE BATTLESHIP SPLINTER IN THE MIND'S EYE TO ALVERSIAN FLAGSHIP:Our scanners have picked up a battle not too far from our current position. It seems the Infected have returned, and are battling a strange ship. We are sending a probe to see what's going on. Do not advise any attempt to engage.

One of the Bridge Officers looked at him in terror. "Sir, the shields are offline!" "What!" he roared, "get them online!" "We can't!'" The Officer looked panicy. "They've been jammed!"
At that point the guns had been loaded and fired. MAC shells, laser beams, missiles and blaster bolts streaked towards their target.

The crew, Marines and Spacers and such, were struck down, swiftly and brutally. Computer terminals burst into flames as the beams struck them. However, turrets popped out of the floor, walls, and ceiling to blast the invaders, and droids, about the same size and shape as the Bioroids, came out of nowhere. Hunter-killers, weilding heavy blaster weapons and explosives. Outside of the ship most of the turrets were flaming pock marks on the hull. An entire gun deck had been ripped away, the crew dead due to exposure to vaccum. On the Bridge a dozen alarms went off at once.
"Boarding parties in Z deck..."
"How did they slip though our shields?"
"...ion batteries down..."
"We've lost contact with Beta squad!"

HOME: 1

Kash walked the corridors of the station, no doubt he was bored, this little project had depleted Calaveras's resources, but it was all worth it. The set back of Xscipian and Alversian intervention was a major step back. " Those animals are really clever" he thought " No there not clever, what am I thinking, they caught us by accident, rather unfortuante timing." he kept walking, he walked into a bar and got a drink, no one dared to look at him, his personal guard stood close to him. He ran his finger down the scar on his eye, as the images of the Xscipian prisoner took over " Damn those animals!, Damn them!" Kash left and went into the plains, which streched miles, artificial skys shown as he walked the grassy plain. "Peaceful, why can't the universe be like this" he walked while the cold air rushed by....

Bennett stood at the bridge of the Ecylpse studying a datapad on something completely trivial. The rest of the fleet, Alversian and Xiscapian had returned to Rio Casa however, he had remained to iron out the creases between HOME's new defenders and their subjects. It would be a long and complicated struggle but hopefully Kash could be won around and the Calaverans would willingly accept protection.

"Officer of the Watch!" An Ensign cried from one of the scanners

Bennett sighed and moved over to the scanner to see what the problem was "Ensign?" He asked politely

"Sir, recieving massive warp signatures approaching. 10...30...50...100...200...there are more and more"

Bennett frowned "Scan the lead vessel"

"Scan complete." The name that came up was APS Challenger or AWD-120485. Part of the Alversian People's Fleet.

Bennett shook his head and frowned again
"Hail them" The Ensign nodded and pressed a button "This is Rear-Admiral of the Alversian People's Ship Eclypse. Indetify yourselves"

There was a pause, then a young male voice came on
"Captain Alhansa of the Alversian People's Ship Challenger bringing part of the People's Fleet out for manouvers"

"This isn't right" Bennett shook his head, "The People's fleet never comes this far from Alversia"

Around the Eclypse, the rest of the combined defense fleet was starting to form, acting like backup, while ahead in a burst of light, the Dreadnoughts appeared in a swarm

"Those are Dreadnoughts" The Ensign concluded

"I agree. But it still doesn't fe..." Bennett said as a buzzing interrupted him and ships seemed to melt away, leaving vast warships in their wake

Then a robotic voice filled the bridge
WE ARE THE SASM, YOU WILL BE DISSECTED

Bennett's blood froze in his veins and he looked around desperatly "Red Alert! BATTLESTATIONS!" He called

"Sir! Charging weapons!" The Ensign cried panically

"Impossible" Bennett whispered

The two lead Pathfinders fired their beam weapons at the Eclypse's as before, the energy simply passed through the shields as though they weren't there. The Eclypse errupted into flames, as did the two Dreadnoughts and the Battlecruiser with the Xiscapian battleships all fired at at the same time. All isolated. The cruisers were now firing in desperation at the much vaster ships now bairing down on HOME, within the station, the same robotic voice rang out

"ALL SPECIMEN WILL PREPARE FOR DISSECTION. HOSTILE ELEMENTS WILL BE ANNILIATED!"

Outside, another Cruiser was split clean in two by the beam blasts and both ends hovered, spitting flames and bodies. On board each Pathfinder, thousands of Bioroids stood in perfect formation, lifeless, awaiting the order.

Onboard the Alversian warships, crew were being thrown about like ragdolls as explosion after explosion ripped through the hull of each vessel.

Blue lights flashed around all of Homes interior, as the battle erupted outside the station. Plasma turrets on the outside of Home began to fire. Hundreds of Probe fighters came flying out of the station, weopons and shields armed. Kash was beamed to his office to view the battle. " Those damn animals, they really fucked up now!" he used his neural link to send out an emergency message to the rebel base's Observers, who would soon be on there way. The Odessy launched her fighters, she had no ping, so she cloaked afterwards.

03-01-2008, 22:21
The Pathfinders continued forward as if the Probe Fighters weren't there. At each one, a beam was fired with the accuracy only a Bioroid could have. The Plasma turrets were causing more damage but they were designed for anti-fighter duties, not full capital warships.

Kash heard the message, he replyed as he hailed " I think I like you." he smiled " But I'm going to have to decline." he stoped communications.

One of the Pathfinders started to fire beam cannons in the general direction of the Observer Oydessey.

The Amelia Jones came up close in an attempt to draw their fire away from the Observer. However, one beam penetrated deep into the hull of the Alversian destroyer. Explosions started to rip through her hull and soon she just seemed to disintergrate. There were no survivors. The Pathfinder that had done the damage turned back to finding the Observer.

With the Observer gone, the Pathfinders turned back to decimation of the Alversian and Xiscapian fleets. The former had only one Destroyer left in action. The rest of her fleet was just hulks floating in space, flickering with flames or exploding occasionally. The space was filled with debris and bodies. The Pathfinders were back with a vengeance.

Station

"ANNILIATE!" The Calaveran bullets just bounced off the thickened metal of the Bioroids. The Shrapnel based grenades also caused the minimal of damage. However, the rocket-launchers tore off limbs and knocked back whole groups of Bioroids. However, when one was destroyed, a dozen took his place. They fired wildly, peppering the Calaveran positions with heavy weapons fire.

The Battleship was doomed. Static defenses destroyed, most of the crew dead or incapitated, all exterior weapons down, shields offline life support failing. Boarding parties were getting closer to the Bridge, sweeping aside resistance like it wasn't there. The Captain looked around at his Bridge Officers and the few crew still alive who had retreated to the bridge. "Beam to the Silver Song." he said, referring to the Medical Ship. "But sir!" said the Weapons Officer in desperation, "what about you?" The Captain looked hard at him. "Someone must be here to press the button." There was a flash of light and the crew was gone. Outside the Silver Song was quickly pulling away. The Captain stood alone on the Bridge of his dying ship. He heard the sharp clanging of Bioroids outside the Bridge doors. The force fields and defenses would keep them busy long enough for what he had to do. He smiled grimly and flipped open a switch. Below it was a red button. Closing his eyes, he pressed it.

The rest of the Xiscapian HOME Task Force hadn't a scratch. They had been assinged to outer defense, and it took some time to get to the battle. The rest consisted of 100 Drones, a Destroyer, a Cruiser, and the Silver Song. On the Bridge of the Destroyer Wraith the Captain stared hopelessly out at the battle as his ship was followed by the Cruiser and Drones. The Battleship Splinter in the Mind's Eye listed, crippled and nearly destroyed. There was a flash of bright, orange light, flaring and burning the eyes. The Bridge Officers shielded their eyes as the Splinter detonated into atoms. The crew aboard the ships were grim. There was no way they could win. Not even close. But they could take some with them. The Cruiser accelerated forward, passing the Wraith. It was on a direct crash-course with the Pathfinder's stern that destroyed the Splinter. There were theories that said Cruiser Captains were picked for their suicidal tendencies. No one believed them, least of all the Cruiser Captains, but now the Captain of the Wraith wasn't so sure. "Open fire on that Pathfinder," he commanded, "target the engines." The Destroyer's guns fired, the beams and ion and projectiles streaking past the kamakazee Cruiser to impact the engines of the Pathfinder. The Drones were also programmed for suicide. They grouped together to ram the Pathfinder attacking the HOME. Lastly, the Silver Song lined itself up for jump away.

The area was shattered. The Cruiser and Battleship had been destroyed, as had nearly the entire Alversian fleet. The Wraith, despite Pathfinder messages to the contrary, had survived. Barely. It was a crippled hulk floating in the void, gutted and blackened. Two areas on the ship were contained: The statis field room and a small section of the barricks. In the statis field were the lucky crew who had managed to get there: A dozen of them. In the barricks a Marine and a Spacer were huddled inside their tiny chamber, still alive. Those in statis were unconcious, and in any case safe inside the deep interior of the Destroyer. The barricks, however, were closer to the outside. The Marine's armor was self-contained, but it was loosing batterie. The Spacer was a male, but the Marine was female. They had no way of contact outside their little air-tight room. There was no one alive for lightyears. The room, they thought, would become their tomb. Only minutes of air were left.

Unfortunately, there were no Alversian survivors. All 35,000 Alversians that had served on the destroyed ships had been massacred to try and save HOME.
Krystal bowed her head in sorrow. Rear-Admiral Bennett had been a good man...a great one, even. Then she lifted her head to look at the Commander, some of her old fire back in her. "What is the fleet's make-up?" she asked sharply.

"And what, exactly, is the Pathfinder's destination? Who leads them? What kind of technology do they utilize?" Krystal needed these answers. In order to formulate an effective strategy against them, she needed information. From what she had seen of the recordings, and the history in the Alversian records, the SASM was incredibly powerful. We need to try and capture a Pathfinder, as quickly as possible. And I may know just the people...

"The Pathfinders destination is untraceable. They are scattering their fields so we can't track them. They don't have a leader, only the Server. And their weaponry includes something we have identified as Photenic Phasers. Basically, they scan an enemy ship, identify it's shield frequency and harmonise their own weapons. When they fire, they will bypass the shields completely and destroy the vessel. It is how they are able to brush our fleets aside so easily"

The Flotilla Commander put his hand to his ear as a message came in. He looked as though he were about to faint.

"The Pathfinders have hit a colony on the edge of our space. The Kappa Fleet has been virtually destroyed, Losses are as follows
3 x Super-Dreadnoughts
15 x Dreadnoughts
10 x Battlecruisers
8 x Cruisers
20 x Destroyers
190,500 Alversian military killed
150,000 Alversians and Xiscapians dissected

Krystal stood. "We must fight." she spoke rapidly into her portable comm unit. "Recall all fleets, yes all fleets! Get into a protective blockade around Xiscapia and the two main colonies. I want every ship in the air, all weapons primed, ready to go! They could strike at any time." she looked to the Commander. "You need to get back to your fleet, Commander. They are coming." She strode out of her office.
Above Xiscapia...
Dozens of warships converged around the Protector. More ships lifted off from Xiscapia and the moons and jumped away, off to defend the Wuin and Cholk systems. Aside from a few planets which were shared with the Alversians, the Xiscapians had no other colonies. Battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers, Carriers, mechs patrols, fighters, the captured Observer Lenin, renamed Freedom, an asteroid, the SuperBattleship Alliance. In other systems the SuperDestroyer Jade, loyal Korr ships, Super and Command Mechs. All forces were assembling to combat the new threat.

Eight Pathfinders versus eight Dreadnoughts, two Battlecruisers, ten cruisers and twelve Destroyers although six of these had already been reduced to burning wrecks. The Alversians were fighting with a great courage even though the Pathfinders stood little chance of being repelled here.

As one Pathfinder fired it's mean beam into the heart of one Dreadnought, gutting an entire deck within the ship and ripping it apart in seconds, it turned to the colony and transmitted a message to the Xiscapian colonists

A ship appeared amongst the wreckage. Destroyed Probe fighters, an Observer, Xiscapian and Alversian warships, a destroyed Pathfinder and the mostly held together wreckage of HOME floated in the silent vacuum. No other ships had been detected in the sector. Everything was dead. The ship was a Spark class Destroyer (http://www.ffcompendium.com/misc/12-catoblepas.jpg), an older Xiscapian vessal decommissoned for the faster, smaller Destruction class Destroyer. It's propelsion "rings" moved it along, avoiding the larger wreckage and bumping aside or vaporizing the smaller ones. The crew was about three thousand, mixed Xiscapian and Alversian Rebels. They were here for recon, to find out what happened. It was good that their enemies, the SASM and the Alvo-Xis Allies were destroying each other, but the downside was that HOME had been destroyed and many of the Calaverans killed or dissected. The plasma weapons bounced harmlessly off the shields of the Pathfinders, no matter how much bulk was fired, they didn't have the velocity or the calibre to pierce the advanced shielding.

Meanwhile, the 130 Frigates would fly into a small storm of rapid beam laser fire, near enough impossible to penetrate. Each weapon was controlled by one interlinked Bioroid and he was not going to miss such a mass of targets. One Pathfinder alone had more Bioroids than the Frigates had Infected.

The Destroyer had retreated to a safe distance to watch the battle. Once it was clear the Infected were running for it, they did too. The Infected had enough firepower to destroy their ship a hundred times over, so what effect would they have against the Pathfinder when dozens of Breeders and over a hundred Viruses had failed? The ship jumped into hyperspace, away from HOME space, as the Pathfinder destroyed the fleeing Infected. "That was close," said the Captain casually.

"Get the security systems online, power up the defenses. Put the sensors on high alert, and scramble the fighters. We haven't had an visitors in a long time, I don't want to be caught by hostile ones."
The starbase was vaugly star shaped, the jutting "arms" spiked with laser cannons. In the middle of the star was a group of buildings behind energy anf force fields. This was the Command part of the base. On the starboard side of the station was a power generator, also shielded, which provided energy for most of the defenses, as well as electricity. On the port side was the docking and hangers, at which thirty fighters, five gunboats, and two frigates were docked. The rest of the station was covered in sensors and scanners to detect incoming ships. The starbase was a lonely little outpost, in the middle of nowhere, not close to any planets or moons or asteroids or stars. It was one of the many starbases set up on a perimiter of the small but dense Sky King kingdom.

IC:
The only thing in between the station and the fleet was the frigate. It opened fire with it's railguns and laser turrets, blasting away at the Viruses. The station's laser defenses came to life and the entire station began to rotate, the laser cannons blasting away at the Breeders with terrible force. The 30 fighters left their hangers to engage the Viruses, the five gunboats split up, three to fight the Viruses, two to fight the Breeders. The other frigate put the stream of Viruses between itself and the Breeders and fired on the Breeders from there. The station was repetedly impacted by the plasma, but the shields only weakened a fraction of a percent. You could, of course, bombard the station for days, and finally the shield would go down, but the faster, easier way was to penetrate the shield with small craft and either shut the substation power generator down or blow it up. For this reason Command was heavily shielded, and the hangers/docks and power station were heavily guarded by AA guns.

OCC: That's the best way to describe it.

The Sky kings station was formidable, it had killed 2 Breeders and 20 viruses. The breeders turned there weopons to the vessles that were defending the station, bringing down scary firepower. The Hive Minds unloaded there massive broadside plasma cannons( these are 5x the normal breeders weopon, an enlarged version, they look like a black bees nest, with the same weopons as the breeder, 15 broadside guns.). The virus's continued to reach the station, incoming weopons fire flew past them, and for the unlucky, impacting them.
Xiscapia
10-01-2008, 04:56
The defending frigate was torn apart by the massive firepower, and a not-too-quick gunboat was destroyed. The other frigate shadowed the Viruses, so all incoming fire hit the Viruses instead of it. The fighters were simply too quick to be hit by the slow broadside cannons, and continued to tear apart the Viruses with their lasers. The stations shields flickered but refused to fail, and the destroying lasers continued to fire out, protected by the shield. A gunboat weaved thoughout the Breeders, slower than the fighters but still too quick to be destroyed except by a very lucky shot. It fired it's laser batteries, small and relatively weak as they were, into the side of the Breeders. The rest of the gunboats flew in and out of the Viruses, destroying them quickly with their array of laser and railgun weaponry.

IC: The fighters proved once more to be too quick for the Viruses, moving too fast and manuvering on hairpins, blasting incoming Viruses. The pilots were good, but it didn't stop the Viruses. Three fighters were absorbed into a Virus, but it was clear after this to the remaining 27 pilots what to do. The gunboats made for much easier targets, they were slower and less agile. One was "bitten" but made it away, one of it's engines gone, slowing it even further. Another was halfway consumed by a Virus, then it broke free, firing it's weapons inside the Virus, but was ganged up on as another three Viruses slammed into it, tearing the ship apart, the crew eaten or exposed to the harsh vacuum of space. The last frigate fired it's lasers and railguns at the nearest Hive Mind. There was now one frigate, twenty-seven fighters, and three gunboats left.

Not all the soldiers were killed, many hid in crevices and holes in the station's armor and continued firing on the Viruses from there. It seemed useless for the Breeders to fight the fighters. Viruses began to attack the fighters, they were the fastest thing the infected had use of, they werent great at it, but they could get the job done when they had the numbers, the Breeders trained there attention on the station, firing at its shield generator and comms.

Lasers fired as the fighters chased the Viruses, and missiles rose from the surface of the station from the surviving troops.

Only the soldiers stationed inside. The troops waited in apprehension for the first of the shock troops to appear. They were fighting a lost battle, and they knew it. Since the fleet had appeared the station's defense soldiers had been preparing for this. They were well dug in, behind boxes and steel walls as cover. The soldiers would concentrate fire on the biggest thing they could spot and move progressivly downward until all the hostiles were eliminated. The Sky Kings forces were slowly but surely falling back. For every step back they took the enemy lost a soldier, but it there didn't seem to be any end to them. The troops were scared, and worst yet, they were being cut off from the barracks and armories.
