Three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary. The Supreme Judicial Court includes a Chief Justice Judge (CJJ), 6 Associate Justices Judges (AJJ) that serve with the CJJ on the Supreme Court. Delesa is made up of nine provinces on ten main islands and dozens of smaller islands loaned to corporations or maintain some sort of military purpose. The Commonwealth currently has 4 colonies overseas under Delesian protection. There are the House of Commons that Local MPs are voted into, serving a term of 4 years unless a vote is called earlier due to failing a vote of confidence. The other half of government is the Senate. Senate has a total of 60 members and they are the last form of government to look over new laws and such before it is given to the King for final reviewing and then official signing. His Majesty the King appoints senators. 20 at a time every 4 years, while 20 new ones enter the senate, the group that has been in power for it's 3 terms or 12 years is dismissed or removed, unable to serve as a senator.

Short History:

1104 - The Kingdom of Delesa was established by King Charles I (The First). Feb. 20th - Commencement Day

1116 - King Leo I (The Conquerer) in led the ‘Holy Unity Wars’ in which he invaded the(now known as) King Victor and King Leo islands, as well as King Fredrick Island and the Virgin Isles, but died in the Campaign in the Virgin Isles when mortally by an arrow to the neck.

1137 - King Leo II (The Scholar) completed the campaign but he was no a military man and depended on his father's most trusted general and second in command the devout St. Myhre of Russograd. Many monuments were erected of his father. Aug. 4th - Unification Day After completing the campaign with astounding result's St. Myhre had a fortress named after him, the most vital one for the southern security of the kingdom on the mainland.

1318 - King Baldwin I created a system of set classes for citizens. There were 3 levels. The highest was the Royal and Knights, second was the Nobles and Clergy. The bottom was the peasant. This system was called the People’s System.

1804-1814 - Separatist War/First Civil War (or First Kreatvye War) between the Loyalists and Separatists, in which the Kingdom was introduced to the future threat and enemy of Kreatvye, who came to the aid of the Separatists. Separatists were defeated, but Kreatvye failed to release the Virgin Isles after surrender of the Separatists.

1862-1864 - Socialist Coup - Government vs. Socialist Revolutionaries (of which most were poorly trained peasants). Government Victory.

1866 - King Edward II established a Constitutional Monarchy government after increasing political pressure from other nations and previous blood shed of Socialist Revolution.

1868 - With the new government power, the People’s System was abolished and the Universal Male Suffrage brought in, which meant all adult males where able to vote. Also a Charter of Rights and Freedoms was created, guaranteeing rights to all citizens of the country, to today's standards extremely crude but alas a start.

1876 - A new title was given to the country, instead of Kingdom it was changed to the Commonwealth. Along with that, the former Pound currency was replaced with the Commonwealth Credit.

1895 – Delesian National Soccer League established.

1918 - The Government allowed women to vote. Prime Minister Johnson Clare moved the capital from Russograd to St. Myhre in an attempt to give the people that the government was closer to the people, of which St. Myhre had a much larger population then Russograd and the south was turning out overall to become larger in population then the north.

1940-1978 - Commonwealth-Kreatvye War (also known as Kreatvye War) - During the War of Independence (1792-1819) when the Separatists surrendered, Kreatvye didn't give up the Virgin Isles. This war is about retaking back the islands. The islands were retaken, and the government was pushed on to take the fight to the homeland of Kreatvye. The war continued until 1974. During the war, several times (some times as long as a year to several months) a cease-fire was declared, but every time no agreement could be reached and the fighting continued. But in 1974 on October 4th at 10:00am the unconditional surrender of the Kreatvye Government was signed, and an Incorporated State was established. Huge celebrations were held after 38 years of war, and its now been declared as a national holiday, Oct. 9th VK (Victory in Kreatvye) Day.

2007-Present - Novajev War (Operation Red Stick) - Currently being fought in the SFR (Socialist Federative Republics) region. The Commonwealth is fighting along side the United Kingdom of Oceania (Azazia) and the Empire of Kilrany as allies in an attempt to replace the corrupt government and establish a democracy free of corruption.


Detailed History:
Part One:
General Sir Henry Charles of England sat atop his giant black war horse, perched on a low hill looking down into the horizon, where a mass of men were marching under the banners of the first crusade, giant red crosses dominated the sky. They marched through the English countryside, the weather still chilly.

In 1096, Pope Urban II called the first crusade in order to conquer the sacred city of Jerusalem and the Holy Land and free the Eastern Christians from Islamic rule. Although many of the nobles that came to arms by the request of the Pope where French, General Charles was ordered by his council to raise a force and proceed to the Holy Land and join in the conquest for Jerusalem. In the short time, he was able to recruit some 10,000 crusaders, and 1,500 cavalry. Based in northern England, the traveled south across the land, picking up soldiers and such here and there, waiting till they reached the English Channel to board the ships. They landed in Normandy and under the banner of the Crusade were allowed to pass. For unknown reasons the small army lagged, dragging their feet.

In May of 1097 the leaders of the Crusade, assembled outside the city walls of Constantinople were tried of waiting, and begun their march without Charles’ Army. Even with constant threats from the council, warning Charles to pick up his pace or face giving up command, the General slowly caught up with the Crusade in October of 1097 just in time for the siege of Antioch.

The Princes were furious with Charles’ tardiness and assigned the small army to ‘patrol’ in the rear, to watch for a flanking maneuver by possible enemy reinforcements. In May of 1098 Kerbogha of Mosul approached Antioch to relieve the siege, and a small patrol of Charles’ Army saw them long before they reached the city and warned the Commanders. Bohemond I of Antioch knew that if the crusade was to succeed past this siege the city would have to be taken before Kerbogha arrived. Bohemund secretly established contact with Firouz, an Armenian guard who controlled the Tower of the Two Sisters but had a grudge with Yaghi-Siyan, and bribed him to open the gates.1 On June 3rd most of the city was in the Crusader’s hands apart from the citadel. During May and June there were many desertions as food was low and hope even lower, yet Charles remained with the Crusade and managed to keep many of his men, who were loyal to him personally. On June 5th Kerbogha arrived, and tried to storm the city on June 7th and failed, on the 9th he established his own siege on the city.

More crusaders had deserted before Kerbogha arrived, and they joined Stephen of Blois in Tarsus. Stephen had seen Kerbogha's army encamped near Antioch and assumed all hope was lost; the deserters confirmed his fears. On the way back to Constantinople, Stephen and the other deserters met Alexius, who was on his way to assist the crusaders, and did not know they had taken the city and were now under siege themselves. Stephen convinced him that the rest of the crusaders were as good as dead, and Alexius heard from his reconnaissance that there was another Seljuk army nearby in Anatolia. He therefore decided to return to Constantinople rather than risking battle.2

Monday June 28th the crusaders emerged from the city and confronted the threat head on. According to legend, an army of Christian saints came to the aid of the crusaders during the battle and crippled Kerbogha's army. In reality it was the small and determined Army of Charles. Before the battle the knights and sergeants (infantry) has dawned new white clothes as their uniform with gold crosses sewn on. As the battle drew to an end with the enemy forces now routing, Charles gave the order for his army to pursue the fleeing combatants in order to secure food wagons and the spoils of war. The rest of the army remained behind, tired and starving, hence because of the lack of interaction between Charles’ Army and the rest of the crusaders the legend was born of a saint army.

At this point tensions were high among the crusaders, a plague (perhaps typhus) broke out, killing many, including the legate Adhemar. There were now even fewer horses than before, and Muslim peasants refused to give them food. In December, the Arab town of Ma'arrat al-Numan was captured after a siege, which saw the first occurrence of cannibalism among crusaders. The minor knights and soldiers became restless and threatened to continue to Jerusalem without their squabbling leaders. Finally, at the beginning of 1099, the march was renewed, leaving Bohemond behind as the first Prince of Antioch.

After the battle, Charles’ Army continued it chase of the broken army till no more trails could be found. The men captured were put to work as servants to the knights, and even some lucky Sergeants got some. During December and the acclaimed cannibalism, Charles was still marching back to Antioch and did not take part in the event. Although on their march back the army was getting more and more hungry, and Charles did order the assault of a small town. After the Muslims denied the soldiers food, a riot broke out and the town populace was slaughtered. Many of the slaves were also cut down for no apparent reason and at which point Charles realized that whatever was plaguing the main army, the insanity, disease and the chaos had now infected his own men and time was now short.

Upon arrival at the Holy City on June 7th of 1099, and to the Prince’s knowledge of the battle of Antioch, there were no accounts of anyone seeing Charles’ Army’s banners or men for that matter during the battle, as they had changed back into their regular clothes by the time they had returned to Antioch after the chase. They claimed he had hidden in the city, and now once again sentenced him to patrol the rear. Of course Charles gladly took the assignment, knowing after scouting the surrounding area of Jerusalem that food and water was scarce and would take him men to a place more suitable. Believing that the Princes’ would call upon him to join in the main assault, Charles remained with his men by a small oasis.

Well on July 15th the city was walls were breached, and luckily or unluckily depending on your point of view, Charles was leading a large section of his army on patrol near the city, so as to appear that he was doing his required duty, when the screams of battle could be heard. Fearing the worst that the crusading army was being destroyed, Charles gathered all his men and begun to race to the main camp, to find it basically abandoned and siege towers at the walls. Furious that the Princes’ would initiate the main assault without him or his men, they rushed into the city only to discover the horror so vividly recorded.

According to Raymond of Aguilers "men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins." The chronicle of Ibn al-Qalanisi states the Jewish defenders sought refuge in their synagogue, but the "Franks burned it over their heads", killing everyone inside. The Crusaders circled the flaming building while singing "Christ, We Adore Thee!”

Disgusted with the sight, and ready to redeem themselves for their own previous sin, Charles ordered his army to attack, the army then begun to kill crusaders. But to no avail, they were numerically outnumbered and forced to flee the city before the majority of the crusading army knew what had just happened. Fearing that word was now beginning to spread about Charles and his army amongst the crusading commanders, he begun a march across the desert, avoiding the Muslims and Christians alike, fearing the consequences that waited for him back in the Christian world, the army fled.

After hiding in the desert for a year, numbers slowly dwindling, in January of 1100 they traveled to the nearest Christian port, and disguised themselves as Knights Hospitallers and stole several naval vessels and begun the search for a new land, fit for a new kingdom.

After several landings and finding the land occupied, and returning to the ships, it wasn’t until 1104 that General Charles found an untainted land for which he could establish a new Kingdom, faithful to God yet not the Pope. And hence the Kingdom of Delesa was born, Delesa being a version of the woman’s name Delicia that is feminine form of the Late Latin name Delicius, which was derived from Latin deliciae "delight, pleasure". Delicia was the name of Charles first wife, who he left behind at home in England at the start of the crusade, and had learned from merchants that she was hanged and burned for his actions in Jerusalem, along with is eight-year-old boy of whom was born a week before he left.

Islands
The Commonwealth homeland is a complex configure of dozens of islands, many uninhabited to this day. The islands that make up Delesa are called the Home Islands when referring to the Commonwealth, but when referring to the the Country of Delesa then one means the home islands. There are eleven main islands, King Leo Island to the north, King Charles Island in the center and the hub of the Commonwealth, King Fredrick Island to the south-west, King Victor Island to the south, and the Virgin Isles (which consists of seven smaller islands).

King Charles Island
The island is the hub of the Commonwealth, the center of all activity. The capital is located on the island on the south shore. It is by far the largest of the islands, and benefits and suffers from various climates. It is home to three provinces; Alberta, Juno, and Arizona. A large mountain range runs from the north coast to the south coast. The weather system for Delesa runs east to west. Making the west of the Rocky Mountains a desert like land. The mountains also work as a natural provincial boundary, Arizona is the entire west side of the mountains. The area is much like north africa, a sand swept barren land, and the people and buildings have changed from the rest of Delesa to handle those conditions. In the east it is much different, to the north is temperate forests and in the south are the lowlands.

King Leo Island
As the most northern island in Delesa, it is subject to tundra like conditions. For a majority of the year it is in a state of winter, enveloped in the darkness of night. Although for a short time in the summer, it has a mild temperature. Not much vegetation but still gets large amounts of explorers to experience a lighter and safer version of arctic exploration, but it still has dangers as hundreds of people annually get lost and require the help of the Armed Forces Search and Rescue.

Virgin Isles
Considered one of the four gems of the Commonwealth, the land itself and the sea surrounding it has been a hot bed for discovery of large oil deposits. The islands have also been fought on in every major war in Delesa as it proves itself as a strategic position not to mention the islands are the largest producer of crude oil in the Commonwealth. The landscape can be described as that similar to Ireland in the sense that it includes low central plains surrounded by a ring of coastal mountains. The climate is typically insular, and as a result of the moderating moist winds which ordinarily prevail from the South-Eastern Ocean, it is temperate, avoiding the extremes in temperature of many other global areas sharing similar latitudes. Precipitation falls throughout the year, but is light overall, particularly in the west. The east, however, tends to be wetter on average and prone to the full force of the ocean storms, more especially in the late autumn and winter months, which occasionally bring destructive winds and high rainfall totals to these areas, as well as snow and hail.

King Fredrick Island
This island is the sole province of Quebec, where the majority of the french speaking Delesians reside. The land resembles something much like Sicily. Much of Delesa's wine and whiskey is brewed here, as well as the major construction ports and dry docks for the navy. The island is like a natural fortress, it was thwarted every attempt at an invasion of either Socialist Separatist forces, Kreatvye forces, and all other enemies of the Commonwealth. The unpredictable current and constantly changing sea bed reeks havoc with sailors, the only safe passage granted in the few natural harbors which now all have a port and naval defenses.

King Victor Island
The climate of Victor Island is typical for a tropical area, although temperatures and humidity tend to be a bit less extreme than other tropical locales due to the constant trade winds blowing from the east to west. Summer highs are usually around 31°C during the day and around 24°C at night. Winter temperatures during the day are usually in the low to mid 28°C range and (at low elevation) seldom dipping below 18°C at night. The island seemed to have been created by volcanos erupting in a row, creating a long string island, with large lakes contained inside. Home to Port Hustlings, the largest port in the Commonwealth for civilians and the Royal Navy.

Alberta
Located in the northwestern part of King Charles Island taking up approximately 1/4 of the island. It is a rolling hills farm land, with vast oil sand deposits. There are three climatic regions, alpine (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c5/Moraine_Lake_17092005.jpg), forest (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/61/Fish-Creek-Park-Szmurlo.jpg), and prairie (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Field_150.jpg). Considered the Oil Capital of the Home Islands(Delesa).

Arizona
Located in on the west side of King Charles Island, it's boundaries to the north, south and west is the coast and to the east the mountain range that runs north to south the entire length of King Charles Island. For the majority, the landscape is generally desert, with open spans and fine sand like Morocco (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/43/Desert1.jpg) in the west, while as you venture closer to the mountain range, the land becomes more rigid like in Eastern Oregon (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/31/High_desert.jpg).

Juno
Located in southeast of King Charles Island, the province takes up about 1/4 of the island's total space. It's climate and land scape is similar to Alberta's, yet more major cities are located here then in any other province. It is considered the business capital of Delesa, and the entire Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Armed Forces (AF) are the unified armed forces of Delesa and the Commonwealth, governed by the National Defence Act, which states: "The Commonwealth Forces are the armed forces of His Majesty raised by Delesa and her colonies and consist of one service called the Commonwealth Armed Forces."

The Armed Forces consist of the regular branches plus to additional ones recently added for greater security, these are the following branches of service that make up the AF followed by that branches respectful sub-divisions;

Each one of the branches of the Armed Forces has a seat on the Commonwealth Defence Board (CDB), of which the highest-ranking officer sits. The board oversees all operations for the security of the Commonwealth. They make the choices if to deploy when and where. The Prime Minister also has a seat, as the chairman and the Minister of Defence. The Director of the Commonwealth Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Administrator of the Majesty’s Secret Service (MSS) also have a seat, bringing the total number of members to eight. From this board the tasks are sent down to the respective commands.

Delesa Command (DELCOM)
Delesa Command is an operational element created to improve response time to domestic terrorism and natural disasters. It is responsible for the management of the army, navy, and air force to ensure national security, both in emergency and routine situations.

Commonwealth Expeditionary Force Command (CEFCOM)
Under a transformed AF structure, the Commonwealth Expeditionary Force Command (CEFCOM) is responsible for the planning, and conduct of all Commonwealth Armed Forces (AF) international operations, with the exception of operations conducted solely by the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (SPECOPSCOM).
CEFCOM will bring together, under one operational command, maritime, land, air and special operations forces assets to conduct humanitarian, peace support or combat operations wherever they are required internationally.

Intelligence

All intelligence is ‘handled’ by Office of Commonwealth Intelligence (OCI). From their two primary intelligence civilian agencies work with close connections with the Armed Forces and the respectful intelligence agencies of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Commonwealth Intelligence Agency (CIA)
Handles concerns based on the entire Commonwealth, spanning all Delesa and her colonies. Works with counter-intelligence, undercover work as well as collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence to assist the Prime Minister and senior Delesaian government policymakers in making decisions relating to national security.

Majesty’s Secret Service (MSS)
The MSS collects secret intelligence and mounts covert operations overseas. The National Charter of Covert Intelligence Act directs SIS to obtain and provide information relating to the acts and intentions of persons overseas. In the fields of national security with particular reference to the government's defence and foreign policies; in the interests of the economic well-being of the Commonwealth; and in support of the prevention or detection of serious crime.

The Royal Family
The Royal blood line has remained pure since the days of King Charles I, with his sons and daughters passing down the genes. Not once has the power of the Royal family been passed over to a duke or distant relative. That's not saying the sons and daughters don't marry out of there family, they do so and manage to always pass on the Royal gene.

The Protectorate of Terra Delesa

An establishment set up as a base of military operations in a far off region. Over time people begun to set up permeant homes, soon it sprung into a large metropolis. After weeks of debate the order was given and the Protectorate of Terra Delesa was officially a nation.
To this day people continue to move to the tropical paradise to start a new life. It still maintains a large military importance, but has been reduced over the years. The Colony brings in large sums of money for the Commonwealth due to tourism.
The Colony's most prized achievement is the massive naval base, and dockyard considered a jewel among the Commonwealth, second only to that of Port Hustlings in Delesa.
Many of the inhabitants are of the local region, but large amounts of people from Delesian heritage have emigrated, mixing with the locals. The dominate language is a dialect of German but the official language is English.

The Protectorate of Cesibia

The Protectorate of Cesibia is a colony that was acquired after the Commonwealth-Kreatvye War of 1940-1978. in essence Cesibia is Kreatvye. After the former Kreatvye government was destroyed, and Delesa is large debt due to the lengthy war, saw an opportunity to right wrongs and earn money. The country was reformed, political democracy put in. The Commonwealth attempt to erase the people's identify of Kreatvye by changing everything about them.
But it was met with limited success, as you can imagine the majority of the people did not take well to the changes. Many welcomed democracy but not the complete overhaul. Overtime people relaxed and after much pressure the Commonwealth relaxed some regulations in return. In the end the situation calmed down, and life resumed as normal.
The Military in charge of defense was made minimal in size, the Commonwealth Armed Forces taking most responsibility for defense. These precautions were made to avoid a large scale uprising. To this day when the Commonwealth calls upon Cesibia for troops stiff resistance is always met, the people always claiming 'Why is it our fight?' And when the Commonwealth is supplied with those troops there is always heavy tension between the Cesibian troops and the others from the Commonwealth.
Primary language is a dialect of Russian.

The Crown Colony of New Sussex

Population: 1,410,600
New Sussex started as a single port for the Delesa West Trading Company. As trade increased, the harbor increased, as it's prime location was an excellent location for exchange of goods, and an over all hub station for the international trade in the local area. Royal Navy ships of the Commonwealth then established a second harbor on adjacent island as a forward base to ensure the safety of the vulnerable goods as pirating increased. Soon civilians attracted by the prospect of good trade and a strong economy flocked to the two ports, building cities around them. Prime Minister Lester Geddie then went forth and established the two ports as a colony, pressuring the DWT Company to allow the first port to become a crown colony along side the other Royal Navy port offering it to be the colony's capital. Trade critics have harassed the government choice to do so, claiming this as an unlawful act of the government 'stretch out it's greedy hands into the wealth of trade, even more then they already have here in Delesa and all the other colonies of the Commonwealth.'
There is no New Sussex military or navy, rather it is all handled by the United Commonwealth Armed Forces, which units from all over rotate in and out. There is one permanent army regiment, The Royal Sussex Grenadiers.
The climate can be described as tropical, the land fairly flat and spotted with palm trees and white sand. Tropical storms are known to rage, but even the fierce winds can't stop the trade. The island has also become a popular vacation spot in the Commonwealth.

Axcliffe is a United Kingdom royal crown colony located off the coast of Delesa in Atlantian Oceania. The colony occupies two islands and is home to important overseas bases for the United Kingdom’s Royal Armed Services: the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Royal Army all operating facilities on the islands. The current population is 6,752,941 and the colony occupies an area of 1,323 km2.
The colony consists of two islands, Axcliffe and Cardon, largely uninhabited at the time of settlement by the Commonwealth of Azazia in 1954. At the time, the Commonwealth had allied itself with the Commonwealth of Delesa, fighting a bloody war that required the Azazian Royal Navy to dispatch a battle squadron that in turn required secure bases of operation and thus was born the settlements of Axcliffe and Invercardon.
By the end of the Commonwealth-Kreatvye War in 1978 the Royal Navy had constructed two well-equipped naval stations; Axcliffe primarily for littoral craft as well as Royal Marine barracks and Fleet Air Arm assets while Invercardon utilised its deep, but small, harbour for the larger warships of the Royal Navy.
At the end of the war, the Commonwealth of Delesa leased the two islands of Axcliffe and Cardon to the Commonwealth of Azazia in perpetuity under the condition that the Commonwealth would continue to provide support should the sovereignty and independence of Delesa come into question.
