The Birth of a Nation [MT, Open]
For fifteen years now our country has been ravaged by war. The fall of government was not pretty, and the power vacuum was filled by Karinchev. General Karinchev. People were oppressed and were frequently killed for no good reason, other than to help with Karinchev's overwhelming sense of paranoia.
He had good reason to be paranoid. Our resistance movement has been growing, and everyone is silently fighting back in their own small way. Now the final punch would come. Our forces had regrouped over the border, and with allied help, they were ready to push back into Keremia. Today would be a great day. A day that you could be proud to call yourself Keremian!
HQ, Satritavi Region, West of Keremia
"Our land forces are meeting resistance, but they are pushing forward as planned. With the help of the air force, although its power is limited, they are actually moving quicker than expected."
"I sense a but?"
"Thats only on one part of the line. At this rate only a handful of troops will reach the objective in time."
"I think we need to call for some further allied support, Kamarov."
Kamarov moved away from the table, towards the computer screens along the wall. "Im not sure if they will come to our aid, Sir. Its worth a try anyway." With this, a call for help was sent out to many different nations, asking for their military assistance.

"We have been given this offer for help, Sir!" Kamarov handed his commander the piece of thin paper, printed onto which was the message.
"What are you waiting for? They sound almost promising that we will return to power with their help."
"Very well."
Viper Battalion, eastern edge of the battle line
The bullets flew quickly over Sergeant Ramkorvich's head, saved from certain death by the makeshift concrete bunker he had found himself. "Command, Viper is a no-mover. Pinned down by enemy fire."
His men made desperate attempts to end the siege. Constant cries of "frag out" and "cover me" littered Ramkorvich's earpiece. Those brave enough to show just an inch of themselves didnt live long enough to make any attempt at discharging their weapon. Its only a matter of time before they advance on us. Do we fall back now?
"Strigon dispatched to supply air support. ETA is 10."
"Not quick enough, command. Tell them to hurry up!" Quickly poking his head round the corner, he noted four mounted machine guns, men pressing their index fingers against the trigger until they were white.
Pulling back to his cover, a clang of metal on concrete hit his ears. A cold sweat came over him, his eyes darting to his left. "GRENADE!" Lurching forwards to throw it back to the enemy position, a wave swept over him, knocking him back. A piercing pain ripped through his stomach, and something else battered him across the forehead, as blood trickled into his eye. Feeling a tug on his arm, a private looked him over. "Sir? Can you hear me?"
His body started to shut-down. The sound of the machine gun fire dissapeared, followed by the sight of the young soldiers eyes before him.
"It's a good day to die, private!"

General Hunter Farrar stood in Koramerica’s situation room looking from one computer readout to another then said “ Colonel I need an active uplink with our killer satellite over Keremia yesterday soldier! ”
In response Colonel Hugh Ancona quickly answered, “ Ten seconds sir, to locate the missile satellite’s position, the bird is now starting it’s flight over Keremia.
General Farrar walked back and forth as he waited for the seconds to pass, ‘ Time always seems to go so slowly when you are waiting for something very import! ” he thought to him self.
Finally the uplink was accomplished and a picture of the country of Keremia came into being on the computer monitor directly in front of the General. Quickly Hunter looked at the monitor, actually studying the hardest hit areas. He noticed that a Battalion on the eastern edge of the battle line was about to be over ran.
“ Colonel see this position here, order the satellite to fire hyper speed missiles at the enemy coordinates that is about to over run this Battalion on the eastern edge of the battle line.” ordered General Farrar.
“ Yes Sir General " said Colonel Ancona as he typed in the orders, then continued saying " Sir the satellite reports it has fired seven non nuclear hyper speed cruise missiles at the enemy coordinates. They will arrive on station in three minutes Sir."
“ Very Good Colonel now get me the U.T.S. Kitty Hawk, we need to put some Black Hawks and F 35’s in those skies immediately until we can land troops!” said the General.
“ Yes sir, right away sir! answered Colonel Ancona.
"Targets on radar, Sir. Do we shoot them down?"
A small crept out from the commanders mouth. "Now now. We cant just go firing at everything that moves. That battalion barely poses any threat to us anymore anyway!"
Viper Battalion
The group lay in shatters, as the last of the battalion tried to fight off the enemy. Bodies littered the ground, their eyes staring up at the sky, or towards the ground. Their home. "Its where they would want to die," thought Captain Grigori Mikhailov. Suddenly, his attention was caught by a man coming towards him with his dagger and pistol ready.
Spinning away, Grigori twisted the mans weapon from his hand, and grabbing his own combat knife, slit his assailant ear to ear. Turning to face the enemy lines, he was thrown back by the blast of a missile. Moaning, he scrambled away, staring open mouthed at the destruction before him. "Some warning would be nice, Command."
His earpiece crackled slightly. "That wasnt Strigon, Viper. It came from nowhere."
"Im glad it came at all, Command. Knocked those bastards clean out!"

Aboard the U.T.S. Kitty Hawk
Naval Captain Nelson Mazzella sat at his desk in his ready room talking to Marine General Farrar from the Royal Palace’s situation room.
“ Captain did you receive the intelligence report and orders that I had sent to you concerning the country of Keremia? ” asked the General.
“ Yes Sir General we received it just moments ago, I immediately launched fifty F-35’s and twenty Blackhawk’s. They are in route to Keremia even as we speak sir. The fast movers will arrive over Keremia in about fifteen minutes, the copters will arrive a few minutes after that.” answered Captain.Mazzella.
“ Very Good Captain our orbital troop transports have launched from the Eagles Nest and will arrive about a half hour after your Black Hawk’s. The special ops units aboard the black hawks should be able to deploy and soften up the enemy some before my Eagles arrive. Carry on Captain …. Situation Room Out! ” said the General just before he terminated the comm link.
Within the TV station, deep in the capital of Keremia, a tape was playing out to every TV in the country. Karinchev was standing, in full military dress, warning the people of Keremia to stay in their houses. It was the message that was played from 18:00 to 06:00, without fail. Only a live broadcast every wednesday broke up the usual transmission, which Adrik Egorov, an engineer, made sure to watch.
However, it appeared the live broadcast this wednesday was recorded. The same backdrop as always stood behind Karinchev, in front of a podium, the only two normal changes in a live broadcast. However, he was not a man to repeat the same message again, quit frequently, and he looked tired and overworked.
"People of Keremia, a foreign invasion force has landed on our territory. Do not panic. Our army is doing everything to end such a pitiful attack on our proud nation. Life goes on, as our army is driving them out quickly. Curfue is as normal, and no further rationing of food will take place. Do not panic. If you see anyone in the street, do not approach them, but alert the authorities at once. Whatever you do, do not panic."
Turning around to his wife, Adrik held his arms out, beckoning her over. "Our day is here, Alexandra! I must go, now. For Keremia. I will ride home on a tank, proud, and I will kiss you once again when this is over."
"You cant, its past-" She tried to protest, but he swept her remark aside.
"I promise."
Turning his attention to the chest in the corner of the room, he walked over and opened the lock, retrieving an MP5. Walking to the phone, he called the 9th speed dial. "Its time, brother."

General Hunter Farrar stood in Koramerica’s situation room listening to Karinchev’s speech.
"People of Keremia, a foreign invasion force has landed on our territory. Do not panic. Our army is doing everything to end such a pitiful attack on our proud nation. Life goes on, as our army is driving them out quickly. Curfew is as normal, and no further rationing of food will take place. Do not panic. If you see anyone in the street, do not approach them, but alert the authorities at once. Whatever you do, do not panic."
Hunter could help but laugh out loud, “ We’ll see how quickly your army drives us out." he thought to himself.
Walking over to the uplink keyboard he typed in commands to jam all enemy communications including cell phones. Immediately the killer satellite turned one of it’s many dishes towards the TV Station in the Capital City and sent out a jamming signal.
Walking out of the door, Adrik made a quick left into the dark alleyway beside his apartment. A member of The Silent Arm for nearly sixteen years now, he was one of the main men, an organiser. On his word a whole widespread operation to retake the capital had begun tonight.
"Lets just hope our men on the border can do their part," he thought to himself as he peered around the corner. An APC sat parked in the road, with a jeep nearby, the engineer frantically fixing the engine. "Its not like theyre up against much," he mocked.
Whether they only had their own legs or not, he couldnt risk being seen this late after the curfew. There was no excuse. Pulling out a cellphone, he tapped away at the keys to his comrade, Namcheska, codenamed 'The Needle'. One of the most feared partisans in all of Keremia, Adrik was proud to have him by his side in these early stages. Ex military, presumed killed in action, he was the perfect leader of the SA. The authorities didnt know he existed, and that allowed him to do his work. Checking back around the corner to see if the APC remained in place, he sent the SMS.
"Its a bit late to be out, isnt it?" Turning quick on his heel, wielding his MP5 ready to fire from his hip, Adrik let out a sigh of relief. "Dont worry, friend. I got the call. APC ahead causing you trouble, is it?"
Both men jumped as the roar of an engine filled the cold night air. "Never let it be said those engineers keep the men waiting around for long." The man smiled, slightly, pointing to the road ahead. "Come, friend."
