The Republic Civil War (Semi-Open/FT)

Anagonia

In every nations history there is a point where the People turn against themselves in search of a better life. Where the nation itself turns stagnant and corrupt, and a revolution is the only foreseeable outcome to peace and stability. Where, even in the most peaceful and prosperous nations, the states or provinces themselves see only that their way is the best way for the future. Where, eventually, everyone just doesn't see eye to eye anymore.

For thousands of years the Galactic Republic of Anagonia has stood as a testament to the reliability and durability of democracy in action. The People have always come first, with the Empire-Provinces themselves taking control of their own in a unanimous show of Empire-Rights, then the Central Government with the last word in internal conflicts. No matter the challenge, no matter the conflict, the Republic has always overcome the obstacles that came against it. The People themselves always seeing the wisest way forward, even when they were blinded by territorial patriotism.

One person and his companions stood at the position above any position, moderating and judging with the best interests of the People at the Heart. The Chief President and his cabinet, elected to lead until death, have been at the center point of the greatest civil conflicts to strike Anagonia, always overcoming, always dodging the bullet. At some point, however, even the best diplomat, the most experienced warrior, and the most devoted follower fail in their mission.

So it is on the day of Tuesday, December 30th 3045 After Galactic Unification, Motherland Calendar December 30th 2007 After Unification, that one bullet could not be missed.
Delphi Oceana

Enter the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Delphi Oceana was formed in a time of great Galactic Strife and instability. The People, a mix of the native race of Delphinians and the other races that make up the Galactic Republic, knew too well the burdens and struggles of maintaining an Empire. Their King, Astroch Voltice, always led in a fair and just manner according to the Constitution of the Empire. While the Constitution did give Astroch free reign over most Kingdom matters, it did forbid him from exercising direct orders upon the fate of lives without Parliamentary approval. All this combined made Delphi Oceana one of the most stable Empire-Provinces in the Galactic Republic to date.

Three planets made up the Kingdom. Delphi, the Homeworld, and Oceana, the Water-World, where the first two to join as one to make up the first essence of a central extra planetary government. Atlantis came last, as the technological powerhouse of the Kingdom and perhaps the next best thing to an economical blessing. The Delphinian Star Navy was comprised of ships relating to Terkkian technology, per the Republic Constitution that encourages each Empire to keep their navy in times of Galactic Emergency. The DSN, taking direct orders from the King and his admirals, maintained order and peace throughout the three planets and the territories beyond.

Only about a recorded 550 Million(plus) citizens lived and worked in the Kingdom, 50 Million being in the Kings Armed Forces. The Economy was second to none compared to the other least-populated empires, and King Astroch Voltice always enjoyed improving ties with the Federation of Luunar and the Republic of Novaar to maintain a certain balance of economic power within the Republic. After years and years of diplomatic talks and relations, these three empire-provinces were considered by Republic Military and Economists as the "Big Three", with the highest potential for greatness.

It was this inter-union alliance that sparked the first rounds of the Republic Civil War. Atlantis, the technological powerhouse of the Kingdom, was at the center of it all.

Enter the Federation

The Northstar Planetary Alliance, commonly known as the Federation of Luunar, was formed after the discover of the mythical planet of Northstar. In the times before Galactic Unification, the Northstar was the center of conflict for most of the space-faring empires that existed then. Ten wars were fought over the planet, all of which ended in a bloody stalemate. It was after the Great Crusade, the final war over the planet Northstar, that a Federation of Planetary Governments was formed. Through this Federation, all other opposition was quickly extinguished. Thus began the Northstar Planetary Alliance.

Two worlds comprised the primary factor of the Federation. Luunar and Northstar. Luunar was the Homeworld of the Federation, being the powerhouse planet with the most extensive economic benefits for corporations and citizens. The Federal Navy was stationed here, on one of Luunar's three moons. The Federal Navy, under a written agreement with the Kingdom of Delphi Oceana, was one of two Empire's within the Republic that sent patrols to Atlantis and other planets within the "Big Three" territorial spectrum. Northstar, while considered a populated planet, was stationed more as the cultural powerhouse of the "Big Three", making the Federation a gifted cultural empire.

President Magned Asuran took the head of the Federation, with Alliance High Commander Tuvosk residing over the Military aspects that ranged from the two primary worlds to the outlining colony worlds beyond. Along with the Sovereign abilities the Northstar Parchment gave to the common citizen, it also gave enormous freedoms to the President over Federal Matters. Magned used this ability wisely, thus creating ties that strengthened the economic and military aspects to both the Novaarian Republic and the Delphinian Kingdom.

It was on one of these matters of bringing the ties together that President Magned Asuran came across a certain piece of information concerning a certain planet within the Unified Jurisdiction of the "Big Three". The information was forwarded to the Federal Intelligence Agency by the President, then to the Novaarian Intelligence Agency which was the forwarded to the Kings Intelligence Service in Delphi Oceana.

Something big was going down in the Galactic Republic.
Novaar

Enter the Republic

The Republic of Novaar was the center point to the Galactic Republic of Anagonia. Novaar itself, as an empire, helped form and stabilize the beginnings of the Galactic Republic, thus beginning the age of After Galactic Unification. It was in this Republic that the ideals of Empire Rights was born, that freedoms for the common citizen was created, and that independence and respect for the member-empires of the Republic was formed. Without Novaar, the Galactic Republic would not have been born.

Two Planets were primary in the Novaarian Republic. Prometheon and Novaar. Prometheon was the homeworld of the Sentient Droids, a race of machines that gained sentience from a scientific experiment that began in the Motherland. Novaar was considered throughout the Galactic Republic was the Political Powerhouse. Here came the best diplomats, politicians, representatives, and leaders. The best schools, universities, and academies reside on Novaar. The Galactic Senate, the House of the Chief President, the Galactic Library, and the home of the Galactic Armed Forces is stationed here.

Having this responsibility in mind, Novaar also had another side to it. While the Novaarian Republic did take on the responsibility of being the foundation of the Galactic Republic, it also took on the responsibility of a Sovereign Empire in the Galactic Republic. It is at this point that things get somewhat confusing.

Chief Governor Dunan Ruu holds house and office over the Novaarian Republic. He also holds office in the Executive Government of the Motherland of Anagonia, the Modern-Tech counter-part to Anagonia and the birthplace of the star-faring nations themselves. One could say that history parallels between science fiction and science fact, one world and another, by one man in one part of the Galactic Republic. But, like most huge responsibilities, Dunan Ruu prefers to maintain the Modern Anagonia.

And thus ends a huge headache of explaining the hows and whys.

In his place is David Zeus, the adopted son of Chief President Drakomis Nokomis Reign. While he does lead the office of Internal Affairs for the Galactic Republic, Governor Zeus has proven quite capable of maintaining two offices at once, especially in circumstances of Empire-Republic affairs. That is why on the day that a message from the Republic Intelligence Agency reached his office that he chose to take a drastic action to prevent the total breakdown of the Big Three Alliance. Without this economic and military alliance within the Galactic Republic, the three empires of Novaar, Luunar, and Delphi Oceana would surely begin the inevitable downfall to economic turmoil and anarchy.

He chose to call a meeting comprising of the King of Delphi Oceana, the President of the Federation and himself to decide on the rule of secession from the Galactic Republic. The meeting point was the Kingdom Planet of Atlantis.

Enter the Imperial Empire

The Imperial Drekamythian Empire. Once the scorn to the Galactic Republic, now a devoted Empire-Province. Long ago, the Imperial Empire was ten times stronger, with three billion people populating the four main worlds, and the colonies beyond. Now, however, things have horribly changed. With a fair economy bordering on collapsing, and a military thats underpaid and overworked, little choices remain for the brave leaders and representatives within the Empire.

Even with the Galactic Economic Emergency Aid Order, signed and ratified to establish and prevent the collapse of Drekamythia, the Imperial Empire simply can't sustain itself much longer. This fact, mixed with the horrible living conditions within the Empire, and the huge outcry from the Imperial People to do something now, made a certain decision inevitable.

Most inter-Republic conflicts go through Congress in a swift manner, since keeping the Galactic Republic stable is top priority. However, with the increasingly degrading situation in Drekamythia, Lord Emperor Karnus Math had little choices and a ever decreasing time frame to fix the problem in either a respectable amount of time or, dare anyone say, right then and there.

He chose right then and there.

Under the Imperial Constitution, there were two positions that held supreme authority when the empire was under a state of emergency. The Lord Emperor and the Grand Imperial General. Being under one of those two positions, and considering this a severe state of emergency, Karnus directed all Military Assets to begin expanding beyond the ruled borders of the Empire. This, under Galactic Republic Law, was forbidden, only to be approved by Congress or the Galactic House of Representatives. Karnus followed through with neither.

And so the beginnings of civil strife were started, where one Empire forsakes the Unity of the Republic, bypass the powers of Congress, and rejects the Constitution that holds the Galactic Republic Firm. The age of civil strife began with one Imperial Seal.
Nodea Rudav

Enter the Soviet Planetary Union

Unconditionally the most prosperous, the most powerful, and the most wealthy Empire-Province in the entire Galactic Republic is Nodea Rudav. A long history dotted by wars and revolutions have brought this once forgotten part of Anagonian history to the highest position of respect and authority. Its Naval Fleet unmatched, its economy unsurpassed, and its desire to help all within the Galactic Republic something close to saint-hood. With an outstanding forty-one planets in the Union, and an economy to match and surpass in supporting them, all internal affairs within the Galactic Republic have always waited for the final word from the Soviet Planetary Union.

Only one primary world rested within the borders of the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets. Nodea Rudav. Homeworld to over 3.7 billion citizens within the Union, it resides an equal standing Congress and House of Representatives. All decisions within the Union, whether affecting the Galactic Republic or not, are always headline news. The Economic stability of the Republic nearly depends on the frightening economy of Nodea Rudav. Its only match in economic power is the combined wealth of the famed "Big Three". But, with current diplomatic efforts being successful, no competition was in sight.

Once upon a time, however, things were different. Nodea Rudav and Drekamythia had an equal standing a century ago. Back then, the Imperial Empire and the Soviet Planetary Union had a sort of "friendly war" to finally end who was the biggest, and baddest, within the Republic. Things were different in that time, with both armed forces sharing no borders and citizens freely transferring from one low-costing housing to another. They even had a combined economic stock market.

That all changed when an unusual fluctuation in the Imperial Empires economy caused the eventual decline into near-anarchic conditions. No one knows why it happened, or even how. Some speculated the industrial bubble burst in Drekamyhthia, which would be true since at that time the Imperial Empire had an outstanding ability in manufacturing. But no explanation could fit why the economy never recovered. It just, put simply, collapsed into a lower level. Eventually hitting the fair conditions of today.

With this history in mind the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets has always stood by and given freely to the Imperial Empire in an attempt to stabilize and improve the conditions within the Empire. It was working, after a century of decline. Only to the eyes of the Rudavian Economists, it was working. Everyone else didn't see it, but they did. They saw hope. They saw recovery.

Then it happened. The inevitable.

Oscar Vladinchi took office in both the Chief General of the Galactic Republic Armed Forces, and as the Primer of the Soviet Planetary Union. Both offices fit perfectly, even with the famous democratic processes now stationed within the Union. A strong hand, and a firm resolution, kept him stable enough in the Peoples eyes to keep him in that office. He was just days away from announcing the amazing economic recovery of the Imperial Empire, just days away from bringing hope back to desolation. He wanted to wait those few days to make sure he was correct. He knew his best advisor's, best economists, best intellectual thinkers were right. They always were in such matters. But he wanted to make sure himself.

Thats when, on the day of Tuesday, December 30th 3045 After Galactic Unification, Motherland Calendar December 30th 2007 After Unification, that one event could not be imagined or calculated. The Imperial Empire, forsaking all Republic Process of due course, started making a military expansion to take resources to stabilize its economy and way of life.

Evidently, Oscar was too late. In the memo made by his Chief Adviser, he noted that the People themselves demanded action. He knew Lord Emperor Kurnas Math to be quite impulsive in his decision, but he also knew Kurnas to respect due process in democratic events. This was not like the Lord Emperor he knew. But he did understand why he did it.

So, with a decision based on personal belief, he made the announcement that the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets of Nodea Rudav would remain Neutral in this event and allow the Empire to take due course to please its Peoples hunger for a better life. He felt relief. After all, he did this because they were Comrade Brethren, and he knew that revolution sometimes changed the course of an empires history.

Little did he know what kind of revolution his decision would spark.

Enter the Galactic Republic

Centuries ago there was nothing. No unity, no peace, no government, no voice for the People. Then, after decades of war and strife, there was born the Galactic Republic. Seven Empires merged together to form a Grand Unity of Galactic Empires, later revised into the now-existing Galactic Republic was formed. Seven Empires, whom before had sworn death to one another, had sworn unity to a common cause. The Orders of the Sith and Jedi were next, eventually merging into a combined Order of Unity that balanced both the yin, and yang, of the Force. Governments unified, and combined, for a central democratic process.

No matter the obstacle, no matter the mountain, always the Republic came triumphant. Communism and Imperialism came together to form a common bond. Confederates and Federals shook hands and existed as one. Kingdoms and Republics enjoyed ages of peace and unity. It was the phrase coined by one Rudavian that spoke true to all Anagonians. Everyone of them. Each and every race of sentient life. All were Comrade Brethren.

Thus ages came and passed. Economies thrived and fell. But always, always, the Seven Empires of the Anagonian Union stood. Diplomacy and Democracy, two acts as one, made the Unity a hole.

One could say a series of very unfortunate events led to the sudden collapse and downfall of the Galactic Republic. And it was. Events that had nothing to do with one another but had everything to do with the stability of the Republic. Power plays, pushes for more unity, and personal beliefs. All seemingly combined to create the perfect spark for a revolution.

It was at this point that Drakomis Nokomis Reign, Chief President over the entire Galactic Republic, and figurehead to the stability of the Unity itself, sat at his desk and contemplated the news of the Drekamythian military expansion. Novaar, Luunar, and Delphi Oceana, combined as the "Big Three", were the least of his worries. As far as he understood it, it was natural internal expansion and cooperation at work. But what the Empire was doing...

"I refuse to take action, Mister President."

Drakomis was shot out of thought by words from somewhere else. He realized they were from his Office. He scratched at his reptilian muzzle to awaken his senses, and sat back in his chair. Before him was Oscar Vladinchi, the closest thing to a Vice President Anagonia had to offer. "I'm sorry?" Drakomis blinked, looking at Oscar with his slitted eyes. "What did you say?"

Oscar, a Russian-looking human with obvious age both in his gray hair and visible features, simply smirked. His Komodren brother before him had a tendency to loose himself in thought. "Thinking of the Imperial Empire are we?" He tapped the official holograph on the Chief Presidents desk, signed with Oscars signature. "I cannot get Nodea Rudav involved."

For a few seconds, Drakomis just stared at Oscar and the holograph. Then, as if coming out of another gaze, sighed and nodded. "I cannot push this matter on you, Comrade. I'm sorry you see things differently." Oscar laughed, "Differently? No Brethren, it is just I see things the way he does." Drakomis nodded, "Of course, of course. As do I in both meditation and contemplation. But I cannot see why he disobeyed the very fabric of Republic Law."

Oscar leaned back, crossing his arms across his chest and giving an 'Oh Really?' kind of look. "I'm not so sure, Comrade. Even you would do such a thing if Anagonia collapsed. Everyone knows it." Drakomis looked at the holograph again, reading it over once more. "Sure, sure." Oscar nodded and smirked once more, reaching through to his Brethren. Or so he thought. "Now I must be off, bussin-"

"I'm sending the Republic Navy in." Drakomis cut in, "I cannot allow this."

Oscar, now his turn to stare as if in a daze, slowly stood. It took him a few minutes to realize the implications of this course of action, but when it struck him he had to sit back down. Holding his forehead with one hand as if containing a headache, Oscar simply sighed.

A few minutes passed in silence, not one saying anything. Finally, Drakomis looked directly into Oscars eyes. "I believe in the Republic. I believe in the Empire. But without Melkos here, what can I do?"

Oscar stood, nodding, and slowly went for the door. He looked back, before closing. "Melkos will return."

The door shut, and once again another decision was made, in a series of very unfortunate events, that would eventually lead to the revolution.

Enter the Confederate Planets

The Confederacy of Horsicos formed in a time of violence and anarchy. Thirty-five worlds proved the basis for a two-world galactic war that spanned about a generation before Galactic Unification. Sakri, the Republics best known Military Powerhouse, and Horsicos. It was during this generation-long war that Horsicos gained the advantage and forced the Planetary Government of Sakri into submission. Later, the Confederacy was born, assimilating the rest of the thirty-two worlds under a relatively weak grip.

610 million people currently live and work within the Confederacy. Plenty of the planets that comprise the Confederacy are farming worlds, with populations spanning the ten-thousands to hundred thousands. The Confederate Navy makes up for the lack of manpower with a fleet of scout ships and treaties with neighboring Empire-Provinces to patrol their territory. So far, it works out nearly perfectly. When a disturbance is picked up by one of the scout ships, the a Confederate fleet is dispatched to investigate and, if need be, fix the problem by any means necessary. When you barely have enough manpower to patrol your worlds, time really isn't a factor in military decisions.

Most of the surrounding Empire-Provinces trade military surplus technology and weapons with the Confederate World of Sakri. Being the Military Powerhouse, it is the primary source of economic income for the Confederate Planets. In recent years, the Government has been attempting, with successful results, to include other areas of economic growth into the trade. But nothing, as of yet, has reached the billion-mark of military trade.

Which all brings the Confederacy down to one paradox. While it has the most advanced weapons platforms in the entire Republic, it does not have enough manpower to patrol its large territory. The Confederacy makes up for this with the addition of a Military Agreement with the Anagonian Navy. While it is standard for every Empire-Province to have a Republic Navy contingent within its borders, not many need them. Horsicos is the exception, and relies heavily on such patrols to maintain control. Basically, the Confederacy needs the Galactic Republic to exist.

Jason Excalibur was the elected President over the Confederate Planets. So when he heard about the Imperial military expansion, and the recent talks between the "Big Three" Empires, he started to worry. Not too much, of course. Things like this did happen, though rarely, and no one expected much of a black lash. But when the Chief President announced that the Grand Navy of the Republic would be sent to halt the Imperial Expansion, he nearly pulled his hair out.

That was when he decided to transfer a message through the Confederate Intelligence Agency. He would send a message to a very close ally in his internal affairs. Jason, in knowing that the Republic Fleets currently patrolling his territory would soon be called into action elsewhere, needed someone else to fill in the gap. Else, the Confederacy would be left defenseless and possibly forced into a position that would destroy the very fabric of its existence.

And Jason Excalibur was determined to ensure that never happened, any way he could.

Enter the Democratic States

The Democratic States of Organus was formed as a response to the growing demand of Peoples Rights and a uniform way of democracy. Even before the Unification, the twelve planets that comprise the Democratic States enjoyed a loose form of a Confederacy, based on a democratic set of values and principles. Shortly before the Unification, the Government merged into a large body of representatives and senators, all based with a principle of fair planetary representation and with the core value of maintaining the voice of the People, no matter how many there were.

The Galactic Republic took directly these principles from the Democratic States to form its government, thus owing much of its values to Organus.

One Planet is prime in the Democratic States. Organa. Stationed are the basic Houses of Congress and Planetary Representatives, along with various other buildings important to a Democracy. The territories are divided into three "states", thus the name. These states each having four planets. State Governments are maintained with the addition of two Representatives and one Senator sent to the main governing body of the Democratic States.

Again, much of what Organus has the Galactic Republic emulated. And, consequently, the Democratic States has the blessing as being the birthplace of the Republic way of life.

Much of the news of the Imperial Expansion had reached the ears of Chief Governor Rusk Orsgi. Being in a position similar to a President or Prime Minister, he had the authority and power to direct the military and national assets to whatever course he saw necessary. In this situation, he chose the path of that the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets took. Neutrality.

That was until the news of the Republic Naval Response. Assets from the Confederate Planets, used to maintain order and stability in the Confederate Territories, were being sent away and would thus leave the Confederacy vulnerable to instability. Confederate President Jason Excalibur had personally contacted Rusk and pleaded for assistance. The only problem was that between the Confederacy and the Democratic States was the Kingdom of Delphi Oceana.

However, the details were easily sketched out, the King assuring Rusk that he still valued the Republic and considered his territory free for passing. With the turmoil that had now erupted in the Empire-Province governments as of late, it was good to be sure. So, it was pleasing to his ears when he was notified by his Chief Commanding General that a fleet of Organian Ships would be dispatched to maintain order in the now strained Confederate Territories.

It was this action that assured the neutrality and the protection of the Confederate Planets of Horsicos. With the table set with three Empire-Provinces claiming neutrality, and only three of those announcing nothing but the assistance to the Republic Fleet. Delphi Oceana, Luunar, and Novaar were still in private talks with one another about the situation, and inevitably the announcement of both Organian and Horsican neutrality would open a door to a course that could possibly shatter the Republic.

But that was far from Rusk Orsgi's mind. He relaxed in his private bedroom on Organa and contemplated the score for the local speed-racer game.

Before the Breakdown of the Republic

Drakomis Nokomis Reign had thought for hours on what to do about the Imperial Expansion, thinking and contemplating the right course of action. Although he considered further diplomacy, he concluded that Drekamythia was in such a state of despair that no amount of talks or agreements would change anything. That was why he did what he did, and that is why he stood before the Galactic Congress of the Republic.

"My fellow Anagonians, today we have seen the path that the Imperial Empire wishes to take. Today, I have made the hardest decision of my entire service to the People. While I, even in the darkest hours of early generations, have made the choice for diplomacy, I have not considered that route this time."

Before him two-hundred and thirty planetary senators sat before him hearing his explanation. Either they would approve his course of action, or demand a withdrawal. Unlike the Lord Emperor, the Chief President was bound to honor the decision of the People, and the Galactic Congress. His closest confidant, Prometheus of the Sentient Droids, was present and continued to assume the position as Chief Senator of the Galactic Congress.

"Let me tell you now that I understand the desolation within the Empire. I understand the horrors in the way of life. I also understand, without question, that the Lord Emperor himself was put into a hard position. But that is no excuse for rash action!" Drakomis placed before the Congressional Screen behind him the findings of the Rudavian Economists. "This, my fellow Anagonians, is the proof that Drekamythia was on the course to recovery. While these findings were to wait but a few days to be said for further research, I believe they are correct! The Imperial Empire, after a century of despair, was on the road to being the Great Power it was again!"

A few murmurs came between a few senators, but Prometheus stayed quiet. That was a good sign in such matters. Drakomis continued by displaying the war course of the Imperial Fleets. "As of right now, Imperial Ships have invaded outlying territories in a bid to gain much-needed resources. This I can understand, and this I would have approved should they have come to me. But, they did not come to me, nor to Congress! They are now beginning the invasion of Sovereign Worlds without consent, are initiating harmful action against peaceful foreign planetary citizens, and have begun to take what is not told is theirs."

A new screen came up, showing the three planets outside of the Anagonian territories. "I do not know who these planets pay loyalty to, nor do I know the Empire which they have. Even if they are Independent Planets, I cannot in the right mind consent to an invasion! No Member Empire in the Galactic Republic should begin harmful action against foreign planets without the consent of the Chief President and or the Galactic Congress! It is in our Constitution!"

Another screen came up, showing the fleets stationed in Horsicos and Novaar beginning an inward course to the Drekamythian Empire. "That is why I initiated the forceful submission of the Imperial Govern-"

Prometheus stood then, cutting him off. His mechanical voice resounding in the Congress Building due to the amplifiers in place. "My friend, and my closest ally. I cannot consent to this, nor can I approve this. The Congress has already voted. No."

Drakomis stood there for a few moments, then sighed in submission. "Very well, but may I ask the reason?"

"You may," responded Prometheus. "The cause for our disapproval is the Sovereign Right of Drekamythia to hold onto its government. As far as we know, the Government is not tyrannical, and only responds to the desires of its People. Yes, it is wrong to disobey all laws and forsake the Republic. But it is also wrong to forsake ones people. Let them take what they can, for as long as they can sustain their war machine. Then, we will intervene."

Drakomis nodded, taking his personal PAD off the holographic enhancer. "So the Congress has said, so I will order."

As per ritual when the Congress has struck down a Chief Presidents orders, no argument was made. Drakomis just left, and made the order to retire all forces in the operation back to pre-Imperial Expansion placements.

That was supposed to be what happened. He made the order, and the fleets retired. But, as with such things, when states take action when their government takes none, sh*t literally hits the fan.

And so our story talks hold

With the news reporting from every sector of the Galactic Republic about the recent turn of events, people just seemed to return to normal. No longer did anyone feel any sense of danger to their way of life. The Galactic Congress had spoken, and with accordance to procedure the Chief President had complied. Republic fleets were withdrawling and the threat of a possible civil war was adverted. It was enough to let the guard down of the ever vigilant citizens of the Republic, unfortunately.

The Imperial Empire was free to take what course it chose for itself in the State of Emergency it placed itself in. Everyone believed now in the competence of the Lord Emperor and his decisions. After all, he wasn't expanding in neighboring Empire-Province territories. That would surely be a call of incompetence, and the start of a civil war. Which wasn't the case, either way. To the People, everything was alright.

This was one of those special situations in which the Government made the decision for the People, and the People took heart in knowing their government had their best interests at heart. The People of the Galactic Republic believed strongly in the competence of their government. They led it in the majority of the time with votes on the minor and major decisions that the Congress, House of Representatives, and the Chief President presented to them. They were the final word, the majority of the time. This time, it was the Government that had the final word. And so far, that seemed just fine to the common citizen.

But to the elected officials in office, in certain Empires in the Republic, it most definitely wasn't.

Republic World of Atlantis - Kingdom of Delphi Oceana - Kings Meeting Room

King Astroch Voltice sat at the front of the fine round marble table, a copy of his throne used as his seat. To his left sat President Magned Asuran of the Northstar Planetary Alliance, or the Federation of Luunar for outsiders. Straight across from Rusk sat David Zeus, official leader of the Republic of Novaar. Astroch took one look around and nodded, looking down to his holographic screen embedded before him in the marble table. He brought up a political display of the Galactic Republic, making sure to include the withdrawing fleets that had loyalty to the two leaders before him.

King Voltice rubbed a hand through his brown hair. In all tradition of the Kingdom, no human was allowed Kingship. It was forbidden by the Constitution. Not as a racial statement, to be clear, but as a safeguard for the Delphinian Race that first inhabited the Kingdom Territories. But Astroch had been the expection twenty years ago when he took the crown for the Fifty-Sixth time in the Kingdoms history. By birthright, he was delphinian, and in that right the Constitution had granted him the same right to the throne as a Delphinian. He was the first human to ever be considered, and ever be kinged.

"Gentlemen," Astroch began, "we have a problem with our plan. The Congress has voted and made into submission the Chief Presidents plan to subvert the Imperial Expansion. The Galactic Republic will allow the Imperialist free reign now, and none of us by law can do nothing about it."

Magned Asuran was the first to take interest in the statement. Unlike Astroch, he wasn't human. Luunarian by birth, his race resembled elves of ancient folklore. A natural Luunarian was cold, calculating, and an expert in intellectual affairs. Magned wasn't. He did have the natural silver hair, and the natural beauty, but what he didn't have was the natural mind. Instead he was the child of a human/luunarian marriage. But what he lacked in pure genius he made up for with cunning and perception.

"I do believe we can bypass these laws, if we so choose." David and Astroch paid him full attention now. "Our Anagonian Fleets are loyal to us, and only us. With the exception of those loyal to Admirals, we have a sizeable advantage to do what we can with here. All we need to do is order them back into the advance. We will still be able to make our statement to the Republic."

David Zeus looked to both of his brethren before him, taking Magneds statement to consideration. Being a Komodren, a race of Komodo Dragon Humanoids, he had the prestige and advantage in all matters of diplomacy and conversation. Komodren were the most respected race in the Galactic Republic, fabled for the assistance of the Unification during the Great War. They were taller, nearly seven foot in height, faster and stronger, with the advantage of two hearts and a brilliant mind to match. Komodren made up about forty-two percent of the Republic Military, mainly holding positions of authority and command. They were definitely not to be taken lightly in any matter of affairs.

With the added position of being the Chief Presidents Son, he was a formidable opponent in Politics.

This definitely was politics, any way you turned it. With a slight scratch to his scaled muzzle which created an odd sandpaper sound, he looked directly at Astroch. "You do realize we are initiating a course that we cannot reverse, correct?" He looked at the holographic display, taking into consideration the fleet numbers and the past loyalties of the provinces. "Saying you do realize, just for thought, I do know that the Soviet Planetary Union, the Democratic States, and the Confederacy will be neutral either way. None of them would dare take a side on any such civil matter. So long as we don't interfere with their plans of neutrality, we will be all but assured safe passage into whatever destiny we choose."

"Thats talk for a Jedi," remarked Magned, who took back his cocky look after David gave him a sharp glare. "Sorry."

Astroch shook his head, then put a few commands into his console. The Holographic display changed to a military viewpoint of the Imperial situation. "Now, if you'll pay attention to the matter at hand, we have a few minor problems." He painted each fleet loyal to the Republic, then the fleets loyal to their empires. "We are outnumbered, and no matter how you put it, we cannot take advantage. We will be forced to fight a war we cannot win, and we will be placed into a position of disgrace. I, for one, do not see a way around this."

"Bring down the Republic," came the surprise answer from David. Magned gave him a very surprised look. "Your seriously on board with this?" David looked at Magned, nodding slightly. "Me being here doesn't say that plain enough?"

Magned cleared his throat, sitting back. "Please, continue your train of thought Mr. Zeus," Astroch insisted. David gave what seemed like a bow of his head, which the King took as a sign of respect. He continued.

"I know of a way to make our little problem go away." A panel appeared before him on the marble, and he pressed in a command. The holographic display changed to a government control view. "If we declare independence from the Republic, and immediately begin operations, the Galactic Republic will not have enough time to recover from such a shock and would therefore collapse."

"Oh?" Astroch looked at the display, "How can this happen?"

"Very easy," David pressed another command in, the three neutral states of Nodea Rudav, Horsicos, and Organus remained gray. Luunar, Novar, and Delphi Oceana turned to blue, with Drekamythia red. "This is how it will play out, gentlemen. Once we declare absolute secession from the Republic, the Soviets, the Confederates, and the Organians will immediately begin operations to sustain their economies by merging, and will therefore have no time after the inevitable economic collapse to push for their central economies to take over for the gap. Nodea Rudav will be the quickest to recover, considering they already have the contingency plan we have in place for a collapse. The Confederacy will be last to compensate, and naturally the Nodea Rudavians will assist the Organians and Horsicans."

Magned almost called it stupid, but saw the genius behind it and smiled. "Brilliant! They will basically be too concentrated on themselves to care! With the Collapse of a central main governing body, all militaries will concentrate on implementing their governments. The Soviets already have that, but the Organians and Confederates don't." He shook his head in disbelief, "Wonder why I didn't think of that."

"Because your human," remarked David.

Astroch raised his hand, having a smile on his face also. "Gentlemen, stray your tongues. I like his plan, and we shall initiate it." He looked to David, "How soon?"

"Right now," responded David, who had his personal PAD in his hand.

Union of Soviet Socialist Planets - Republic World of Rudavia

Chief General Oscar Vladinchi had sat through a meeting about the Nodea Rudav economy for two hours. Two damn hours. Now, he was getting impatient. Even though his position as Premier demanded him to pay the same honor and respect as he did to his advisers and government associates, he just couldn't stand the civilian economists and corporate leaders jabbering about how wealthy or poor they were. On and on about government assistance and congradulations. On, and on, and on, and on...

"Okay, well, this has been nice but I must go. So, thank you, all of you, for telling me all this wonderful information. Anything you asked for, you get it, anything you want. Talk to my assistant and she'll write up a draft for me to review later. Until then, thank you and good day!"

With a very surprised look from all around the meeting room, especially to the fact that one company was getting one billion Kremlin Kredits for support, Oscar stood and left. He had had enough. Time to go and think about more important matters.

Hours later at the Soviet Kremlin

"Bethsu, how is my preparations going?"

Oscar had, for some time now, believed that the Soviet Planetary Union needed a central economy just in case of the forbidden Republic Collapse. Being a General made him in tuned to such far-off scenarios, even if everyone thought he was ridiculously crazy even assuming such an idea could take place. Heck, he thought himself crazy until Drekamythia started this expansion. That was when he brought the subject back up to his Chief of the Soviet Economic Committee.

Bethsu Margy had been assigned the CSEC position after her revolutionary steps to making a central assigned economy to, overnight, a free-trade based business environment. That was sixty years ago, back when the Government Owned Economy had started to decline and the previous Premier was looking for solutions to sustain such a massive territory with Kredits. As fortune would have it, Bethsu's essay was taken to serious consideration.

"I believe we have enough resources in place to substain the Soviet Economy for two decades, after which it won't matter." Bethsu responded, "Because by then we would have enough resources contributing to the economy that could stand alone in the Galactic Community."

"Good," said Oscar with a satisfied smile, "I am impressed with your devotion."

Coming from the Premier, that was a great compliment indeed. Bethsu merely nodded, smiling in return. Her aged features not hiding her personal satisfaction in the matter. She looked back down at her holographic PAD, considering her next words carefully. "You do understand, Premier, that this has not been open to the public?" She looked at him, head still pointing at her PAD. "May I ask if there is a reason for this?"

Oscar wanted to chuckle. It was so like Bethsu to clue in on the small details. He liked that about her, always probing to find the full truth of the matter. Then again, she was the Chief of the Economist Committee. She had to know the truth about everything to give a rightful assessment. "Yes I do, dear friend. But I assure you I do this for the betterment of our People." Oscars russian accent flew out in the open, "Trust me when I say that there is a reason behind this."

"Alright," Bethsu looked back down at her PAD with a sly smirk, "I trust you know what your doing."

With a chuckle that couldn't help but escape, Oscar stood from the two-chair table and met Bethsu's hand, then hugged her. They had known each other for a long time, and this hug was more for personal reasons than friendly gestures. A pat on the back, and he was gone, Bethsu alone in the room to contemplate the matter.

After a while of searching the Galactic Net, she gave up. No use in trying to find our what Oscar had in mind. He was the only person, only man, that ever escaped her knowing eye.

She smiled, such a hansom trait to have.

UCAR Headquarters, Alpha Centauri

Gaunt sat at his desk, looking over the folders of the civil war in Anagonia "It looks like we've found something to do today boys. Send some ACUs down to support this 'Nodea Rudav' faction. They seem alright" He said, as the young man standing near the desk rushed off, contacting the four commanders who were to lead the aid mission...

Initiating Transit...Transit initiated...

The four ACUs were gated in on several different sides of a small Nodea Rudav colony. They began sending transmissions to the nearest positions asa soon as they could, and began constructing beacons so that the fleet knew where to land. As soon as those were constructed, the fleet begqan it's long Slipstream jump from the small colony world of Zamene to the Colony...

USSP Colony World of Argon

Considering the fact that Nodea Rudav hadn't had any military or civilian incursions within its borders for well over two centuries, the Military wasn't really concentrated on the Colony worlds as much as the Empires primary world and surrounding worlds. There was the political capitals and economic capitals, so on and so forth. But here, far away from the "Galactic Center" of Rudavia, sat Argon. The least and best forgotten world ever to be considered a world in an empire or galactic nation.

Boring place, huh?

That's what the Planetary Militia thought too. Here, only the lowest of the Soviet Armed Forces came. Outdated ships, outdated armor, and outdated supplies. Hell, even the food was outdated. Farming was the primary source of food here, and there was lots of it. With a planetary population of just five-thousand, it was definitely not a sprawling trading world.

Alexander Rudolf, who had been demoted fourteen times in his service to the Soviet Army, sat in his quite comfortable Chief's chair and considered the days work. On Argon, they were the police, military, and court. Since there was no actual government in place, or no actual city, they were basically the heads of whatever damned state this planet could be called.

"Building collapse, building collapse, building collapse...." Alexander sighed as he reviewed his desktop holoprojector. Only thing happening on this planet lately was farm houses collapsing. They had sent for a transport to send much needed supplies, but it wouldn't arrive until next month. So he had to call off any investigations on the housing front. "More collapses, damn we build shitty houses. Kids killed some crops for makeshift circle? Whatever. Oh...whats this?"

The planet itself didn't have the sophisticated technology that its sister colonies did, but it did have sensors. And those sensors had picked up a spacial anomaly. The weird thing, it was on the Planet, outside of the main colony-town. Which was, consequently, where Alexander had chosen to maintain the Militia Headquarters. And, in addition, where all the damned military supplies was. Bad news.

But he didn't see it that way. Having not been trained in such scientific exploits of understanding such cosmic dimensions, he shrugged it off as a misreading. So, instead, he sent a scout team to investigate one of the disturbances. He really didn't feel like going out today, so he had the position and rank to make someone else do it.

And so, a thirteen-man team was sent with two Scout vehicles to inspect the location. A scientific team, with basically the only advanced piece of equipment on the planet, was also sent out to make notes for future research. Hell, for all Alexander knew it was something new to read! But in the back of his mind he hoped this would gain Argon enough attention to be read on the map, finally.

How right he was, considering the fact most of his decisions were wrong.

The scout vehicles hummed of basic hydrogen powered engines, with two mounted projectile machine guns. The men themselves were riding in a Military Transport, whom all donned basic body armor and projectile weaponry. Very basic, considering Rudavia was one of the lest expected to be basic. They approached one of the ACU's landing sites, hoping to whatever God reigned here that another satellite didn't crash.

The Peoples Congress - Soviet Planetary Union

"..and in conclusion, I therefore condemn the acts of disunity that have been in accordance with this so-called 'freedom of expression', and willingly submit my application for resignation!"

The Chief of Congress nodded towards the obviously disgruntled Congressman, sounding the chime for all to quiet down. His speech had aroused much hate towards the Communist Party, and the other parties were having a field day with slurs and insults. He chimed again, with no success. Then, all heads turned towards the podium as they heard the Premiers voice through the speaker system. Everyone went quiet.

"Is this how we represent the People now? As a bunch of moronic fools?!" Oscar Vladinchi took one look around the hall, spitting on the floor. Everyone sat down, seeing the act of disrespect he just committed. "I am all for the freedoms of voice we have for our establishment, but I am not all for what has just occurred! Do not insult a brethren like this in the Peoples Halls, EVER AGAIN!"

Thankfully, this session of congress wasn't broadcast on the live feed. If anyone were to have witnessed Oscar spitting in the very halls of debate, he could have his head taken off, literally. "Now calm down, all of you!"

Oscar had made a surprise visit to the Peoples Congress to announce his plan for a better economic standard. So far as he could tell in briefings and results, everything went well. But this, right before him, awoke him to a bigger problem. With the ever increasing tensions in the Galactic Republic, people were turning on their brothers and sisters. And now, of all places, Nodea Rudav was starting to see the hate fly in. He shook his head in disbelief, snarling as he stayed quiet for a few moments to gather his thoughts and catch his tongue.

With a heaving sigh, he finally got the nerve to gaze back at his fellow Rudavians. "Brothers and sisters, do not do this to your People. Whatever is happening to the Republic, shall not happen to our Union. Remember this, for we are stronger than all combined. Our victory is our ability to voice the interests of our People, with Democracy and proper government. I am proud of Rudavia, but I am most displeased with this. Do not ever do this again."

A few voices murmured in acceptance, others simply stated disapproval. He went on, "I came here today to speak of an awesome achievement, but now that I have seen this disunity, I need not speak a word. For if you cannot love one another as you should, then I shall not share my love for you by announcing the greatest accomplishment that Nodea Rudav has ever seen!" He slammed his fist into the podium, making a resounding echo effect that startled many. "When I return two days from now, I expect change! Until then, grow up!"

He turned and abruptly left. Afterward, no one spoke for a good twenty minutes. Voting commenced, and resolutions passed and failed. But no one spoke, not even a word.

Droidekan World of Prometheon - Republic of Novaar

Over the coming weeks, Prometheus had ordered a mass exodus of his people. The Galactic Republic had started to decline from its prestigious state. With the permission of the Galactic Congress to allow the Drekamythian Empire to expand, the other Empire-Provinces had become more centralized in their duties. It seemed that the central Republic Government no longer mattered, and no more could that be seen than in the Soviet Planetary Union. But none worried him more than Novaar.

His race of Droids was originally created for war eons ago. Given the gift of sentient life by his creator, Prometheus was the first of his kind, and thus started creating more. His words were like a Kings unto his people, being like a Creator and a Father at the same time. Any decision that had happened to the Republic, he had a say in it. Not only because he was Chief of the Galactic Congress, but because his influence spread far and wide.

And with this influence, he had picked up on the disturbance. Namely through his organic brethren in the Sith and Jedi Orders. They, being closely in tuned to the Force, had been the first to express concern over the developing situation. Some said it was the mark of Palpatine, other said it was just time for change. But one said it was a disaster waiting to happen. It was this person that had influenced Prometheus' decision to bring his people out of the coming conflict.

Grand Order of the Sith - Republic world of Novaar

Prometheus had connections in almost all offices and departments in the Republic, but none so more than in the Orders. His past battles for the restoration of the orders, and the unification of the Dark and Light, had thrust him to a pedestal of respect and honor. So, when he had come to this person, all attention was on Prometheus.

"I take it that there is nothing more you can do?" Prometheus stood, looking out at the great city beyond. They were in the Meditation Chamber, and his contact had remained in concentration since his arrival. "My People are being forced from their lives, and their families for this. The Galactic Republic sees this as a bad omen. I just want to know I'm doing things right."

Darth Vuranous merely nodded, nothing more. His black Sith Robe covering his facial and body features. "I would not lead you astray, Master Droid."

Prometheus put his metallic hands behind his frame, gazing at a transport ship as it flew by. "Perhaps I am too rash in my decision," his elongated head gazed back at the Sith, "am I wrong in saying that?"

"No more wrong than questioning your sentience, Master Droid. It is but a human emotion you feel."

"Feeling," he gave a robotic snort, "why do my people feel anyway. We were nothing but machines of war until a human felt the need for a companion." Prometheus looked back out at the city, "And I'm making a decision based on a human emotion, and all I came from was death."

"You question yourself too rashly, Master Droid. We, the Sith, come from death. Yet we, the Sith, coexist with our brothers the Jedi." He actually gazed up, his crimson red eyes making Prometheus look back at him, "How then can you say you are folly, when you have but evolved into a better position in life?"

"I-...." Prometheus sighed, a harsh metallic noise. "Your right."

"Of course I am, I'm Sith." He made a huffing noise, then slowly stood. "Your ship is here, we should leave while we can."

"Yes," Prometheus took one last look at the city, "We should."

High Orbit - Republic World of Novaar

Thousands upon thousands of ships were in standard orbit around Novaar. All were Droidekan. The Republic Main Fleet had been called out to ensure proper departure procedures, and maintaining the peace. The size and the entirety of the fleet had made top news all across the Galactic Republic, and had already stirred emotions about secession. No more so than in the Big Three Empires of Novaar, Delphia Oceana, and Luunar.

As the Sentient Droid ships slowly disappeared through Hyperspace, Subspace, and Warp, all hope of maintaining the Republic went with them. Two weeks after the Droid Exodus, Novaar would Secede from the Galactic Republic and start the beginning stages of the Civil War.

The Republic breaks

Within two weeks after the Droidekan Exodus, the entire Galactic Republic went from calm confusion to outright secession. The Republic of Novaar, under the leadership of the Komodren David Zeus, declared Independence from the Galactic Republic. Two days afterward, the Kingdom of Delphi Oceana and the Federation of Luunar declared Independence and merged with Novaar to form the Galactic Federation. The Galactic Economy collapsed, leaving the Democratic States of Organus and the Confederacy of Horsicos in shambles.

The only two Empire-Provinces able to withstand the collapse was the Union of Soviet Socialist Planets of Nodea Rudav and the Imperial Drekamythian Empire. Combined, they had enough economic stability to stand for years, even decades. One week later, all remnants of the Galactic Republic vanished as Novaar banned the post-Congress to elect the Galactic Federations own. The Republic Constitution, Library, and all records were either destroyed or disappeared due to mysterious circumstances. The once proud Galactic Republic of Anagonia was turned into a dead carcass.

With the collapse of the Galactic Economy, the Confederacy was forced into emergency circumstances. Rather than submit to the Galactic Federation, a plea was sent to the Soviet Planetary Union for assistance. With a similar plea already coming from the Democratic States, Nodea Rudav accepted. With this additional support, the Union of Independent Republics was established and formed to fill the dark void left by the Galactic Republics collapse.

With resources stretched to the limit, the Imperial Drekmaythian Empire was left to fend for itself. It was after a month of rehabilitating recovery that the Empire finally managed to set a dead line to the economic decline. With the additional surplus achieved, the Imperial Navy began a course of refitting and rebuilding. As with the Galactic Federation and the UIR, it was felt that a time of Civil War was looming on the horizon.

Now, with the massive reconstruction of all military assets all across the Galactic Anagonian Spectrum, the time was ripe for war. Only a spark was needed to ignite the already burning fuse of hatred.
