The United Nations enforces peace. Peace must come not from the fear of war, but as a need itself for being established, to prosper and to make others prosper.

However, many countries have been engaged in creating weapons of mass destruction, in a effort to present an armed answer to some type of political mentality that spreads across the globe. And as a response to that, many other countries, whom are considered foes, begun to undertake construction of those weapons, beggining an arms race.

This is called Nash equilibria, since they would assure to be muttually destroyed.

However, many recent developments in technology allowed the creation of new types of equipment that may lead to an unbalance in this equilibria, and hence, give a sensation of spearheading in this 'Cold War'

SALT I TREATY

* The destruction of all MIRVing capabilities. MIRV warheads allow one single ballistic missile to dispense 10 nuclear bombs in on shot.
* The interdition of the use of space for military purposes, such as : lasers, bombs or any kind of equipment that may lead to destruction of incapacitation of equipment or personnel (EMP, nuclear weapons, and such).
* The SDI. Space Defense Iniciative have been implemented as a means to counteract the action of nuclear missiles, rendering them problably useless, making them less tempting to be used
* Reduction of the nuclear arsenal of all countries
* Disbandment of nuclear war, as a mean to achieve victory
* Reusing all equipment for medical, research and peaceful technology!

OOC: Good intentions man, but the problem is it leaves your nation drastically open to enemy nuclear attacks. In the sense of self-preservation and defense, I can't see too much in this treaty. After all, there's always rogue states and recklessly aggressive rulers.

OOC: Like me. Not part of the UN, free to do what I like with only some other states nukes to stop me.

FROM THE DESK OF THE SULTAN:

The Sultan of Plotadonia, HM Neris III, does not believe that the disbandment of SDI is in the best interest of the Plotadonian people or the people of any other nation, as it would actually make the use of nuclear weapons MORE tempting and far more destructive - considering the approximate sanity of some foreign tyrants. However, all other provisions would be supported, with the exception that Space may be used for ABM and Intel purposes. Should the anti-ABM clause be dropped and the space clause receive these exemptions, Plotadonia will hapilly be among those to sign this treaty.

Graciously,

H. Kandiss, Lord High Messenger
HM Neris III

Won't work in NS. Usage restrictions do, limitations are just pointless.
