*News Intro Plays*
Narrator: Broadcasting live from EBN’s World News Headquarters in Bellevue... Welcome to the Enataian Broadcasting Network’s Nightly News Report with Tom Medina and Ann Evans.
Medina: Good evening, I’m Tom Medina.
Evans: And I’m Ann Evans.
Medina: A shocking assassination attempt on President Webb tonight. The attempt came from an unknown sniper around 6:20 PM tonight in downtown Bellevue as the President was leaving his home. Mark Rowley has the story.
[Mark Rowley is shown, holding a mic and standing in front of the National Home]
Rowley: Thanks, Tom. I’m standing in front of the National Home in downtown Bellevue. We’re getting news that the President is inside and is getting medical attention tonight but he is being treated for injuries sustained while running for cover, not bullet wounds. The area is locked down right now and the lockdown is in effect for the surrounding twenty blocks in all directions, that’s the boundary Police have set up and anyone attempting to leave the lockdown area must go through a personal background check in addition to personal ID checks and nobody is allowed to leave with weapons of any sort right now, Tom.
Medina: What happened, Rowley?
Rowley: Well, apparently the President was leaving to go to a concert in New Redmond when he was fired upon. Now a critical point was that the President was walking at the time and despite four secret service agents walking ahead and behind him, that was not enough to defend the President this time. Luckilly, the President actually saw the sniper before he fired and was able to get out of the way in time. The President claims that he did not get a clear view of the sniper’s face but the security here tonight is very strong. The President is actually calling for reduced security, he feels that it’s not fair to lock down everyone within the lockdown radius. He actually will not press charges that would result in more than 15 years in prison for the sniper and is calling it a Politically-charged crime.
Evans: Rowley, what can you tell us about the motivation behind the shooting?
Rowley: Well that’s just the thing, Evans, because nobody has any idea at this point what motivated the sniper. Investigators are estimating that the person is an immigrant, that the suspect is not an experienced sniper, and that the suspect has not been here more than three years. The President will be giving a press conference tonight in just a few hours but for now the National House is on a complete and utter lockdown. In fact, we are as close as we can be, but as you can see, we’re still about a football field away right now.
Medina: Wow, that’s really something. We’ll get back to that right after the break.
Evans: And coming up at 11, could everything and anything in your home be possibly maybe slightly partially harmful to someone somewhere? We take a look in our nightly Health spot with Grace Conklin.
