"...and I do therefore solemnly swear and vow that I shall preserve the Commonwealth of Rosdivan and all of its inhabitants, no matter the cost to my own self," finished Edward Hutton, gripping the ceremonial scepter tightly in his right hand. As the concluding words of the Installation Oath resounded throughout the gathered throng in the middle of Serenity, the Rosdivani capital, a celebratory roar raised up from the throats of well over a hundred thousand celebrants.

And why shouldn't they celebrate? thought Edward to himself. After all, it's been fourteen years since we last selected a Lord Protector. Besides, they don't know what went on behind closed doors for me to be selected.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the figure of Lord Anthony Tudor. An obviously ambitious man, once he had realized that his ambition and the fiasco with the Praetonians earlier this year in Haven meant that he had a snowball's chance in hell of gaining the Protectorship, he had thrown his support behind Edward, enough to give Edward the victory. He would have to watch him, he'd obviously expect some sort of quid pro quo.

As the roar died down, a seeming eternity later, Edward stepped forward to the microphones to the deliver the traditional short speech of a new Lord Protector.

"My fellow Rosdivani, it is my pleasure to serve you to an even greater degree than before. The good of the Commonwealth has been my life's work, to which I have spent the past forty years of my life since my initial enlistment in the Navy, and the good of the Commonwealth shall, God willing, be the work of the remainder of my life.

Over the past decades, the Commonwealth has grown more and more notable on the international stage. We have forged friendships with leading nations and our products are an international standard. Though we have clung to our long-standing isolation for many good reasons, we must unfortunately abandon this traditional policy. The protection of our trade and colonies, our multi-national projects, and human justice require that we become more active in the affairs of the world.

As a result, I will be asking Parliament to fund a major increase in the size of the Navy, adding four new fleets to our forces, over five hundred new ships. The striking power of our fleet, though it may not reach the sheer size of the major naval powers, will be more than enough to not only hold, but emerge victorious in conflicts surrounding our national interests.

That is not to say that we shall look for conflict. Far from it, for we are and shall remain a peaceful nation. But we shall not back away from that which is rightly ours and we will fight against injustice, directed both against us and against others."

OOC: Just assume that the speech goes on longer about boring stuff. That's the main highlight for internationaly stuff

IC:

Rosdivani diplomats in contact with thier Crookfur counterparts will generally receive positive and upbeat messages concerning the Installation and more assertive international stance.

Both the king and Foreign Secretary do of course make formal statement to thsi effect but theseare so boring as to be pointless to publish.
