The once large city of Kinshasa was now a burning pile of rubble for the most part as the Scandinvan military had been ordered to destroy the city, through the dropping of thousands of tons of fire bombs onto the city. So now the only hint of any solidified government that Democratic Republic of the Congo has ever had was in ruin and now their government had been dispersed and Imperial Scandinvan soldiers had taken over their capital city. Furthermore, now dozens of surviving government officials were being arrested and sent to the Scandinvan Fatherland for sake keeping, in order to prevent them from arousing the hosts of their people for war.

In the suburbs of the city the Imperial military were rounding up the remaining citizens who had not fled and were putting them inside of massive camps which had been assembled near the coast. In the areas outside of the city large numbers of the enemy troops were being faced down by Imperial heavy armor which were driving forward in the hopes of demolishing any hopes that the natives had of launching an insurgency against the newly founded colonial regieme.

In the end, the dictatorship in Zimbabwe couldn't hold against the advanced artillery and brutal close-contact fighting of the Imperial military. The city was taken within five hours. As the smoke from the dying flames of burning buildings thinned, a new flag was raised over the city for all to see.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee194/Glyphick47/Flags/Austro-AfricanFlag.png

Governor Tealford was elated at the news. With prime agricultural land under Austro-African control, the economy could develop his colony as a regional power. With sufficiency in food, the mineral and human rescources of this new country could be harnassed. The new flag reflected a new spirit amongst Austro-Africans. No longer were they an outpost of a distant Empire. Now, they were becoming a nation.

OOC: Niice, what do you have?

OOC: Diamonds, Oil, and Uranium. Nukes, fuel, and buying power - can't beat it.

Colonisation was well underway in the Barronian West African Territory, and with came insurgency, assasination, and the overbearing presence of the Magisterium.

In cities, posters and flyers were everywhere, with speaker systems constantly broadcasting messages from the new Government. Armour-clad police now patrolled the streets, with armoured 4x4s and often APCs the standard response to an emergency call. Every hour or so, aircraft would circle the city, often making low passes. The citizens would come round to the Magisterium, through fear or favour.

In the remote areas, progress was slower, but was well underway. Those tribal leaders that agreed to bring their people to the Barronian cause were eventually removed. Those that didn't were outright assasinated.

Word had been received that the Empire of the Wolf had reared it's head once more - and it had not been unnoticed that the Magisterium and the Empire had never been the best of friends. Nevertheless, a diplomat was dispatched - you never know where a little talking will get you.

OOC: Barronia, I'm assuming you're sending a diplomat to my western territory. If not then tell me and I'll retcon

The diplomat would arrive at one of the frequent border checkpoints that ringed the Wolven territory, manned by a mixture of Wolven regulars and colonial recruits.
"Magisterium? Barronia? Never 'eard of 'em," puzzled the corporal in charge of the checkpoint. "But I'll get you a chopper to Landfall if you want, it's the largest settlement in the Province."

OOC: Do you have to create your new protectorate on nationstates or not?
IC: That day, around 2000 new people were registered as coming from Latislavia to Kosta Reiga. Out of those 2,000, around 1,899 of them stated that they were here to make residence. More citizens were enlisting in the new National Guard, and the construction of factories and the opening of more ports along the island created more jobs. It was established that Kosta Reiga would now use the Knut as currency. The people were still allowed to practice whatever religion they wanted. Already, mining had begun in the east when diamonds had been discovered. A diamond mine. Already, hundreds of men and women were working in the mine. The government, meanwhile, was busy constructing roads and schools, buliding houses, and even looking for safe water. They were more focused on sanitation and had started the federal sanitation department in New Belrosko. Progress was definitely happening, and it looked as if Latislavia, the homeland, would prosper from it.

OOC: Yeah, sounds about right. We got the western coast going in, so it makes sense I guess.

The diplomat was not best pleased by the response from the guards, and practicly bristled with annoyance.

"Ah, if you would, please. My superiors don't, unfortunately, enjoy waiting."

"Alright then sir, I'll get one for you." The corporal disappeared into a hut to make the radio call, whilst the four other men on the checkpoint kept an eye on the diplomat and his vehicle.

Ten minutes later, a helicopter arrived to take the diplomat to landfall. The journey would last two hours, during which the Barronian would be able to see that there was now a large superhighway along the coast where previously there had been a few small tracks.

Landfall itself was slowly changing from a shanty town into an organised settlement, the majority of the buildings were single-storey prefabricated barracks but there were a few construction sites working at making larger structures. The helicopter came to land just outside one of these sites, at which a four-storey structure was coming into existence. The ground floor seemed mostly finished, and out of the front doors came a small official-looking man dressed in a shirt and suit trousers, closely followed by the usual plethora of military officials that accompany any diplomatic event.
"Welcome ambassador, welcome to Western Wolven Africa," smiled the official-looking man as he held out his hand, "I'm Administrator Yuklig."

OOC: Seeing as I'm lagging behind the others in my RP'ing, I will skip ahead a bit...

IC:

The city was sparkling now, several weeks after the initial prefabricated buildings had been set up. Real buildings had been set up, and ships now sailed away from the harbors of the city, named Angel's Rest. It had been found out that, besides the wood, palm oil, coffee, and rubber, Harvest Colony held most of Angola's supposed oil wealth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinda_%28province%29). This made the colony boost in power, and ships were sent out across the continent in the Vantanian tradition of establishing trading posts.

One of the native tribes, for it had been determined there were three, had proven themselves to be hostile. Descended from pirates, they had technology that would not have been out of place in a Pirates of the Terrorbian flick. It had been a pleasure for the Colonial Militia to wipe them off the face of the Earth. For the fun of it, the militiamen lowered themselves to their weaponry, using dirks, cutlasses, and old-fashioned guns.

Then had come the real natives, half-bloods between the Corsairs and the other native tribe further inland. These, after seeing the destruction of their parent state, were much more humble. They, like their Protector, spoke Anglo-Afrikaans. They had much of the same technology, and apperantly also served as a place of exile for people from both tribes. As such, they were more then welcome to accept integration into the colony.

Finally, the bushmen. Savages. When contacted, the Dictator returned the curriers skeleton and head, with some charming rocks illustrating how he had been eaten by cannibals. Enraged, Governor-General Circe sent the Colonial Militia out in large numbers. The Hunt had begun, and within a week of brutal, take-no-prisoners tactics, the lands of the savages had been cleansed completely, napalm killing the last of the bushmen, or pushing them into Scandinvan territory.

Austro-Africa

Three ships arrived came here, flying the Vantanian flag. A quick glance would identify them as unarmed merchant ships. A closer inspection, however, would reveal small guns on the ships, the kind that were there to ward off potential pirates. The ships pushed forward, slowly but surely, towards what their pre-colonial maps identified as Cape Town. As they neared, a message was sent out to the Kiravians.

Eastern Wolven Africa

Meanwhile, direct from the Vantanian East Indies, four ships came here to the colony of Eastern Wolven Africa. Two of which were frigates, and the other two completely unarmed merchant ships. As before, the ships headed to a port city, in this case the city of Djibouti, or atleast what pre-colonial maps identified as such. And, as before, a telegram was sent out as the ships neared.

Praetonian West Africa

A single ship sailed north from Harvest, with no guns or escorts. If the voyage had been longer, then a different ship, with guns attatched, would have been sent. But, seeing who Praetonian West Africa was just a hop, skip, and jump away from Harvest, this was seen as unneccesary. The ship was now making a bee-line for what pre-colonial maps identified as Porto-Novo. Once more, a telegram was sent out to the Praetonians.

Meanwhile, direct from Vantepolis, a telegram arrived in both Kosta Reiga and the United States of Africa. It read:

New Stonehenge, Austro-Africa

New Stonehenge, Population: 700. This village in Zimabwe, now the Rhodesia Department, was the perfect testament to Kiravian colonialism.

The village was an agricultural centre, home to landowners, agronomers, and farmhands alike. The unused and barren land was being chemically enhanced and re-fertilised. Under the management of educated Kiravian planters, Rhodesia would regain its former level of agricultural productivity. Dozens of similar settlements were beong built all over the erstwhile nation.

A message was sent back to the Vantanians.

Greetings from the Empire. You may dock at Station Alpha, located on the ruins of the city of Dijibouti. Your frigates are welcome, providing they do not mind the company of a Wolven naval squadron.

No ships would be sent to escort the Vantanians in, but they would note a few helicopter gunships had been scrambled and were buzzing over the city. In addition, the garrison had been placed on alert just in case all was not as it seemed.

The superhighway, the ambassador had to admit, was impressive. Not much on the Imperia Rail Network, but impressive nonetheless. Cars weren't much of a commodity back home, but being on foreign service he was given one. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a chauffeur, or, to his utmost displeasure, an armed escort.

Nonetheless, he was here to serve Her Excellency and his country. He was sent here because he was capable of doing the job, and do the job he would.

"Magistrate Albert Rogers, at your service Administrator. A rather impressive highway of yours, I noticed. I've been sent by the Governor-General of the West African Territories to discuss the future of our two colonies with you. It's unfortunate circumstances to blame for his inability to appear personally, but he sends his regards nevertheless."

"Oh that shall not be a problem," dismissed Administrator Yuklig with a wave of his hand. "I'm sure that he has his hands full, I certainly do. Anyway, let's stop nattering around outside like a gaggle of old women and come inside." Yuklig led Rogers into the building and into a large entrance hall. It seemed structurally sound, but the decoraters had not finished and there was little paint or carpet in place. The sounds of workmen and machines could be heard on the upper floors.
"Never mind this mess, this way please," indicated Yuklig as he opened the door to a large and fully furnished office filled to the brim with typists and workers hammering away at keyboards or writing on papers. Yuklig led the ambassador through this office to one further into the building, smiling and waving at the workers as he walked past. Opening the door to the interior office, he indicated the ambassador should sit in a comfortable leather chair with decent-sized armrests. Yuklig himself sat behind his desk, and briefly touched a statue of a wolf and whispered a few words before turning back to the Ambassador.
"Let's get down to the business shall we? The Empire of the Wolf will recognise all territorial claims that Barronia has on this continent if Barronia will do the same for us." Yuklig reached into his pocket and pulled out a case. "Cigar?"
Pan-Arab Barronia
28-12-2007, 00:28
"A very kind offer, Administrator, and one that I will certainly accept." Pulling a small box of matches from his pocket, he proceeded to take a long, deep breath through the cigar.

"Ah...a fine cigar, Administrator. Now, to business. I am sure that my superiors will wholeheartedly agree to such an offer - we have nothing but admirance for the Empire. We were, however, thinking a little more economically.

"I'm sure it has not escaped you, Administrator, that we are not the only ones on this continent, unfortunately. I, and my superiors, have every confidence that a partnership between the colonies we have here would undoubtedly make us a force to be reckoned with, economically at least. That said, our first offer is to implement a no-tarriffs agreement between our two colonies."
Skgorria
28-12-2007, 00:42
Yuklig was pleased that Rogers had taken a cigar, and allowed himself a small smile as he replaced the case in his pocket. He allowed himself an even bigger one when the Barronian spoke of the Empire in positive terms. First and foremost, Yuklig was a patriot. He was not blessed with the martial skills necessary to succeed in the military, but out here on the frontier Yuklig served with as much pride and dedication as Beckenbauer himself.

"No tarriffs? But of course. The Empire stands for complete economic freedom Ambassador, I can only hope that these economic freedoms will allow our nations to grow in friendship." Yuklig shook some ash into an ash tray, then continued. "One worry my government has is the issue of narcotics. We are extremely intolerant of them, indeed almost all known drugs are banned in the Empire. Even alcohol and nicotine are heavily taxed and limited. These?" He shook the cigar case. "A month's earnings, and I'm only allowed 3 packs a year. What is your government's stand on this issue?"
Pan-Arab Barronia
28-12-2007, 00:52
"Our nations have more in common than I first believed, Administrator. Whilst Barronia does have some limitations on our economy - utilities, public transport - the essentials - otherwise we believe in a fairly free marketplace. Some care, of course, must be used to prevent exploitation, naturally, but otherwise we are happy to allow businesses to bring their goods here, and take our goods out.

Narcotics is indeed an issue our government has. Alcohol and Tobacco are generally regarded as unnecessary vices and are treated as such - taxed, heavily regulated and so forth. Certified Medicines are freely available through the healthcare system, but otherwise, any other form of narcotic is usually punished with hard labour. Persistant smugglers have found themselves facing a short drop with a sharp stop, if you should happen to catch my drift Administrator."

No Taxes
28-12-2007, 01:15
The planes roared in low, dropping napalm on the enemy combatants. This was the last pocket of resistance left in Port Harcourt, several hundred men armed with AK-47s and the occasional RPG. Mr. Nandha watched as the men streamed up from their defenses to escape the fire coming from the sky. Those who did escape the fire were picked off by Mr. Nandha's men. All the bombs and incendiaries dropped had lit great parts of the cities on fire and the vast slums of wooden and cardboard shacks had caught on fire, causing a mass exodus of humanity and various other animals from the city. They gave the mercenaries a wide berth and Mr. Nandha smiled as he thought of what his men must have looked like to the natives, with their camouflage uniforms now black because of all the smoke and gas masks covering their faces.

As the last of the rebels were either killed or forced to flee, Mr. Nandha radioed back to headquarters that the city was clear. They would let the city finish burning itself up for several days and then the bulldozers would come in to clear away the ruins. At first only the necessary facilities for oil production would be constructed and natives and poor laborers from No Taxes would be drawn in to start rebuilding the city, constructing luxury apartments and villas for the oil executives and investors who would come to oversee the oil production. A gleaming new city would arise on the ashes of the old starkly split between the residences of those well-off and the slums of the temporary construction laborers and the oil company grunts.

The same process was going on all over the new colony, now christened Devaraja by the leading investors of the expedition, meaning king of gods in Sanskrit. Whatever local militias that had previously existed were hunted down by mercenaries on foot and in helicopters and most cities burned, all the better to be demolished in preparation for the reconstruction. Devaraja's vast reserves of oil, metals, and agricultural projects would be extracted, mined or grown to satisfy the wishes of the investors back in No Taxes. The colony would only become more divided between the poor and the rich, between the surviving natives and poor immigrants from No Taxes, and the corporate overseers and investors who wished to come to the Colony itself where they could get vast estates for cheap prices and cheap labor, too. They had secured their new positions as kings more wealthy and more powerful than the kings of old, for the small cost of several dozen million dollars each and several million native lives.

Algerian and Tunysian Communes, day 32

"What is the current result of the oil finding effort?", the engineer asked.

"We've already found many of the existing oil reserves in East Sahara before the collapse, and it was already approved the construction of oil wells to extract it from those.", replied the foreman.

"What do the native inhabitants think of it?"

"They can establish their own oil extraction and refinement cooperatives, or join already existing ones. If you question lack of credits, the Algerian Credit Cooperative Confederation can loan credits to any group of them with a reasonable business project, and we are already doing our best to reduce the gap of inequality between us and them"

"Sure, now how is the irrigation going?"

"Not good, we'll probably implement hydroponics instead, it has been more efficient than all fertile soils around."

"We're getting lots of freebies from Third Spanish States", the engineer noticed.

"We are ideological allies and we came from there. They are interested in other things than imperialism, what they want is to spread anarchism around the world", the foreman explained, "Plus their high population density also brings certain problems, really nasty ones, of criminality. Too many people makes hiding out easier"

"Wouldn't that be quite, dangerous to expand our ideals?"

"As we won't go around warmongering, I wouldn't worry about that, he claimed".

---------

Construction crews were positioned at several oil reserves and machines started to perforate the ground around the derricks, at the same time roads were being paved and new fort-towns expanded over the borders with United African States, Praetonian West Africa, Wolven Africa and Suralian Africa. The
military received extra support from Third Spanish State forces and many militiamen joined the young nations as well. Their population was growing incredibly fast due to increased immigration, at the expense of an almost stagnant population growth in Third Spanish States. At the same time the oil wells were being built, in the outskirts of the "ressurrected" cities of Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Tunis refineries were being built. In a few decades the growing prices of oil would bring Algerian and Tunisian communes economy from a developing state to the "First World" and Third Spanish States economic aid wouldn't be required anymore.

OOC Note: I prefer this one because it reflect more realistically the geopolitical nature of the two new nations rather than colonies settled by Third Spanish States people which seek live harmoniously with the original inhabitants- http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8944/africanscrambleqy1.jpg

Ah, yes, the Wolf's Lair. Always a party piece, that one, the fall of what was arguably one of the greater empires on Earth.

"But of course, Administrator. In the case of any flights to Skgorria, we shall ensure that migrants are not among the travellers. Barronia, however, is currently accepting some immigration, but naturally, we shall check with your authorities to make sure that no undesirables make it through the net.

OOC: Time for a brief history lesson
- Axis Nova's strike obliterates Atopiana as a nation. The surface is totally devastated, the only survivors are abroad.
- Skgorria declares all Atopian citizens to be Skgorrian to protect them from further retaliation, but nothing else is done. The Pact of Iron is broken (was very sad when that happened :( )
- Outraged at the weakness of the government, a coup comprised of military, secret service personnel, Atopian survivors and religious zealots following the cult of the Wolf is launched against the National Socialists.
- The coup succeeds and Dr Ianovich, the former head of the Committee For Skgorrian Security, chief plotter and Wolven cultist, establishes himself as Emperor. Anne Frank, the highest ranking member of the Atopian Fascist party to align herself with Ianovich, serves as his Paw, a second-in-command.
- All territorial possessions of Skgorria and Atopiana are formally unified into the Empire of the Wolf. To all intents and purposes, Skgorria and Atopiana are one nation.
- The National Socialist Party is banned, the SS is disbanded and most Nazi iconography is removed from public buildings. The SS runes continue to feature on the uniform of the Wulfen and the Imperial Guard.
- Drawing in immense ammounts of manpower and materials from the remaining colonies, a huge supercity is constructed in the wasteland of Atopiana. Christened Megalopolis 1, it has a population of over a billion and is the Imperial Capital. In the wastes of Atopiana, there are still elements of the National Socialists that continue to resist the Wolf, and a guerilla war continues to this day. A war which the Empire is winning.
- The Wolven citizen has little or no political freedoms. The Emperor rules through direct rule, and the only elected body is an elected Parliament that serves in an advisory capacity. Polticial parties are banned.
- The Wolven citizen has few civil freedoms, but more than under the National Socialists. Conscription has been abandoned, citizens now have the right to freedom of assembly and association and can now usually expect a fair trial. There is no freedom of the press, police require no evidence before making an arrest and a specially trained group of police called the Judges even have the power to conduct trials and carry out sentences on the spot (yes, I am a Judge Dredd fan)

Because most ships flew either the civil ensign, the Uir civil ensign with a green and black circle (similar to a yin-yang symbol) in the fly to signify its origin or the appropriate Uir ensign for government owned ships. A translator boy was at the king's side to translate Swahili into English and vice-versa. The Protector had a translator for Kirav into Swahili/Uir.

OOC: Wow. That's pretty awesome. I'm more of Half-Life 2/Combine approach - police are essentially everywhere, citizens movements are tracked, people frequently get put on trains that come back empty. You help out the government, you get better treatment, etc.

I apologise, however, for getting you slightly mixed up with Atopiana. It was rather confusing, that war.

"Indeed, sir. I would most certainly drink to that. Once the governor's mansion is in place, perhaps you should enjoy a visit. We who work for the government are somewhat allowed more relaxed rules facing tobacco and alcohol, and I hear the sunsets over the Atlantic are a sight to behold.

"I personally cannot think of anything extra that may need to be added to our discussion - it seems to have been excellently profitable for both of our regions. I will, however, immediately let you or your underlings know should anything come up that I feel may be of interest. For example, Skgorrian investment in our Uranium mining project. But I'll leave that with you."

Wolven East Africa

Back in the day, India broke off from Africa and joined Asia. Since then, it has gone on to become one of the most populous places on Earth, a quest for European colonists, one of the economically powerful places on Earth, and the birth place of two major world religions. Seeing this success, East Africa decided to emulate India, and is even now breaking away at the Great Rift Valley. Wolven East Africa happened to be both in this region of Africa, and at the region where the Red Sea opened up into the Indian Ocean. (India even gets an ocean named after it!)

To capitalize on New India, the Republic African Company (RAC) had sent out men to one of the colonies there, in order to get the New Indian stock before it skyrocketed. And as such, the Vantanians stepped out of the ships, weary from their long voyage. They now paced about, waiting for lupine escorts to send them to some sort of leader figure to discuss diplomacy with. Meanwhile, they noted the ruins of Djibouti, and figured that it would be perfect for their intentions.

Austroafrica

Opening File: Route to India. The East India Companies, primarily the British and Dutch, were a series of companies from differing nations, such as the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and France. They arrived in India and Indonesia to begin trade with the locals for spices, and set up cities to serve as trading posts. There were, at the time, three routes to India: One going around the Cape of Good Hope, one going through the Strait of Magellan, and the last going through the Bering Strait. Of the three, the Cape of Good Hope route was fastest and most used. Even today, with the Suez Canal, the Cape of Good Hope route is well used, as it provides stability from Suez Crisis-esque situations.

With this in mind, the Vantanians stepped off of the ship. Soon, the promised two soldiers escorted them to the capitol. Here, they opened the discussion by laying out their proposal. In front of them, a map of pre-colonial Africa, with East London, Cape Town, and Port Elizabeth circled. "We want to buy one of these three cities, to serve as a trading post and waystation for Vantanians. What would the terms and price be for one of them, preferably Cape Town?"

Let it be known that His Majesty the Emperor Ferrin I has claimed ~1,000,000 square miles of land bordering and expanding around the Nile River. All claims before our claim or after our claim that coincide with the Cohenian claim will be null and void, any claims that are still made will result in a declaration of war.

At the same time...

The Imperial Cohenian Navy, lead by the ICN London, departed Cohenia for Sudan. At the same time, the ICAF Nuclear Rain! battalion flew to Khartoum. In the Nuclear Rain battalion, there were fifty thousand B-22 Zeus bombers. None carried weapons, it would merely be an effort of gunboat diplomacy. Fifty thousand bombers would surely scare negros, correct?

One hour later...

ICAFNR bombers reach Khartoum. Sudan surrenders in the never declared war. Sudanese people around the nation change their underpants.

Two hours later...

The Imperial Cohenian Army Air Service Transportation division had landed at Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. Admiral of the Fleets Soda Popinski and several hundred other soldiers left the airplane into the relatively quiet neighborhood. The Sudanese had agreed not to open fire, but allow the Cohenians to 'ceremonially purchase' the land from them for five hundred billion dollars (this, of course, had nil to do with the gunboat diplomacy). As Popinski changed Khartoum to Popinskyvant, Cohenian Sudan was born.

It a proud day for Aegitto, the great canal project had been completed

It had taken considerably longer to complete than had been expected but it would pay off in the end.

The first ship to pass between the new widened canal would be the S.S. Libera. It was a fairly large steamship, and an older one but would begin it's last voyage through the canal and then back to Cookborough.

The Libera's horn blasted through the air, and the Governor smiled "A fine day indeed." he was standing with other dignitary's at the podium. A small breeze blew through the air and the Cookboroughan Flag fluttered on the ship's mast and the Libera began it's fine voyage home "Yes, a fine day" reiterated the Governor

The Ambassador pondered this dilemma for a moment, before his answer. True, the Magisterium had had dealings with both Scandinvans and Kirav, but both were powerful nations in their own right, and would no doubt be making headway with each other and the other neighbours down south. He carefully constructed his answer, before making his reply.

"It is true there may be some favourable leanings - the Magisterium have had dealings with Kirav, trading territory and such - our Saphonian Islands were a recent acquisition - and that recent $20 million slipped to them as a thankyou gift for that purchase may come in useful as a small bargaining chip.

"Scandinvans, on the other hand, not so much. We know little of them, to be truthful, save that they're bigger than us. Perhaps a little effort from the pair of us may be of use to the situation?"

It would serve as a trading post and waystation for the Free Republic. And, you may or may not know, but this colony is part of East Africa. Which means its breaking off of Africa to join India, and join in all it's wealth. Until then, Wolven East Africa is right at the end of the Red Sea, where it breaks out into the Indian Ocean. I don't know if you heard, but Aegitto just completed a canal, and who better to take the opportunity to cut off the Red Sea for their own purposes then the Empire of the Wolf? Just as ships going through Aegitto's canal will have to pay a toll, ships exiting and entering the Red Sea will have to pay a toll. Wolven East Africa has so much potential, you just have to let us help you untap it!"

The Ships had landed within an enclosed area on the coast, on board was the 6th Engineer Regiment of the Imperial Army to establish a town area, build roads, an airport, the beginings of a seaport and construct the initial buildings for the governor and other administrative offices. Along with those of the army, jobs were tended towards private companies for trades people to take over these jobs from the army once the initial work had been done, these people along with their families were given a large relocation assistance program and a salary 90% higher than the empire average, they were to land amongst the next lot of ships to land within one week. Amongst this were other people looking for a new life or simply wanting a new challenge, mainy farmers along with their cattle and sheep. Food was currently supplied by the army distributed by the 13th Infantry regiment (Mechanized) was there mainly to provide sercurity as well as keep an native attacks at bay.
The Governor appointed to the colony Count Luke Schadt looked sat at his desk holding a daily meeting with the head of the 13th Regiment Brigader Johnathon Accahe, head of the 6th Brigader Christopher Hollaner, and his deputy Dr. Kane Koppler. "How long till the colonists arrive Dr." "One week at the latest" "Good'" Governor Schadt replied "Will your men have finshed the intial quarters by then" "Yes sir we should be finished and we will be packed up and ready to depart" Brigader Hollaner "And any trouble from natives yet" "Latest report same as always governor we have not had any trouble but they have appered at certain times of the day to have a look but they have always given us a wide berth" "Ok but I recieved word from the Chambalin of the External colonies of the Empire that 12 members of the Empire police will be with the next group of ships and they will take over from your policing duties within the township, you will still be in charge of protection of the airport and port and the farmers which will be away from the town about 50 kms away, well if there aren't any questions then gentlemen this meeting is complete but please join me for lunch, i can't wait till the airport is done then we will be able to begin flying in fresh food rather than this preseved crap"

OGC troops and authorities along with private companies had put most of their effort into devolping and holding southern Mozambique, the coast the rivers and areas with good amounts of raw materials, but now Viceroy Gomez was ready to send his forces across the whole area. To put Mozambique and Swaziland under the central authority of the province's new capital- Mozambique, Mozambique Island. This city had been chosen because it was closer to the sea route to Eurasia and because it was easier to defend. As far as Gomez was concerned life was going fairly well. Uir Afrik was stable, so no threats there, the Kiravian army was easily able to control rebels in their colony and the sea route was secure. The economy was making a profit and he didn't have any real native opposition to deal with. The only possible problem was that the remote area of Swaziland might not like the idea of having a real Eurasian presence. 'Advisers' overseeing the kings decrees were one thing but his assembling Swaziland civil service might not receive a welcome. Gomez decided that he would dispatch two battalions with them- the 31st motorised infantry should be able to handle any difficulties, even if it had to leave a third of its men behind to secure Maputo.

Tongues of flame flickered up from the canopy of the surrounfing rainforest. By order of the Governor, the native tribes had been removed. Those that resisted had their villages burned.

The Empire hated to do it, but it was neccessary. The natives had rights that were to be respected, but the security of Kiravian settlers came first. Non-belligerent tribes were allowed to stay. Those known to have dispatched attacks on the Fort were rounded up, brought to Ft. Tanzania, and then sent to South Africa, where the Colonial Court would decide upon any further action.

Official Statement from the Office of The Governor of The Barronian West African Territory

Please state your borders. Ours end at the borders of the nation that was formerly Chad, and we have no intention of changing them. Any incursion onto West African Territory will be met with due force, we must warn you as such.

Should this query of ours turn to be no more than concern, we look forward to working with you. Our Treasury department may have something that can interest you.

With the talks in Skgorria fruitful, the West Africa Territories were truly looking to become a regional power. Looking to become a major trade hub on the way to South America, and with the beginnings of a naval base for the 2nd South Atlantic Conveyor Protection on the coast of what was Equitorial Guinea. Railways lines were being laid a ferocious rate, and roads were headed for the Skgorrian territories.

The main civilian port had been opened, and mining equipment was brought in. The first of the Uranium and diamond mines had been opened, and whilst production was only a trickle for now, it would soon pick up.

The people were nearly subdued - some pockets of resistance remained in the north of Chad and the southwest of Angola, but they would soon be running for the border. Biological and Chemical weapons couldn't be used so close to the other nations, so it was down to old-fashioned hunting techniques. One officer even took his elephant rifle with him.

The indegienous tribes that had been eliminated or exiled were not a problem, but what rights would the native Africans that surrendered have?

Jaime Sosa, a famous member of the now established Algerian DiploNet, was discussing with his friend Marcus Mayne about the latest happenings in the New Saragoza commune:

"What about the Federation of Native Algerian Communes?"

"They are all around their already existing cities, as it was decided through our Agreement of Sovereignty among our cultures and people. We'll have to build our own cities friend, they have the legitimate right to own those they built with their own effort. We shall remain united through common ideology only"

"Aren't you afraid this could lead to the division of lands and that they could simply kick us out of here?"

"Why would they? We brought them progress and didn't stomped over them like all those others of European ethnicity who historically moved to only sack their riches and oppress them. Here they have total autonomy over their cities, while we expand their undeveloped territories and share technology brought from Third Spanish States with them: in the end both of us will benefit from mutual aid and cooperation"

"I see your point, now have you heard about what is happening in other places in Africa, it doesn't look like many others came in waving 'peace and love' flags like us."

"Yes, I am aware of the incursions against still existing governments, and now that's nasty. When we came here there was no social order but a few decentralized communities which now became united communes, there, on the other hand, they simply oppressed the existing population to sack wealth. I suspect it won't take long before an independence war to happen on those places or something alike though, either promoted by the natives or by the settlers"

"Do you think such future war would be another opportunity to weaken tyranny?"

"Jaime, it's a good opportunity for a suicidal war, that's I'm sure of. We are small and new confederacies and mutual protection pacts won't extend to military support to 'revolutionaries' from other nations"

"I understand, let's hope for the best for them, that's all we can do".

At the same time an announcement came:

Message from the allied Federations of Algerian Native Communes and of Algerian Colonists Communes, from the Confederacy of Algerian Communes

Petroleum refinement and extraction is ongoing again in our lands, under the control of a Confederacy of several cooperatives with members from both Algerian and Third Spanish States origins. And silver is very, very hard to rust. Not a great colour either. [/petty chemist]

OOC: It takes a long time but it does go black. I know. I like chemistry. Gold doesn't rust but the change from pure metal to oxide is fascinating. Also, according to the map you do not have Gabon or Angola which your map says you do. You need to ask Scandnvans about aquiring that territory.

"It is excellent," he replied, "Kiravians are quite fond of tea as well. So, what do you wish to discuss?"

The translator tranlsated, "We just want to co-operate and be sure that my people don't have anything to fear from your 'Empire'"

The Protector confirmed, "Yes, and we would also like to talk about any trade or other mutual benefit agreements." A native servant came with the tea. Therer were sugars and creams laid out and it was an African blend.

As for maps, Scandinvans dropped Gabon on page 3, and about 2 posts later I claimed it. Angola, I'm not bothered about. It's not that important, and it's cut off from the rest.

As he signed the document, the Governor replied, "Exotic woods would fetch a good price here, and in Kirav. We are quite fond of wood, in architecture and furniture, and using woods not native to the climate would make for an excellent market. Coffee would be widely consumed by Austro-Africans as well. In return, we can provide you with raw materials for the Free Republic's manufacturing sector, and the materials to start up industry in the Vantanian Congo. We have gold, chromium, antimony, coal, iron ore, manganese, nickel, phosphates, tin, uranium, gem diamonds, platinum, copper, vanadium, salt, and natural gas. Also, our agricultural operations in Rhodesia will certainly provide a surplus of grain for trade. "

Without losing a beat, the diplomat responed, "Exotic woods and coffee it is then! In return, coal, iron ore, copper, and natural gas. You see, such supplies are always short in Vantanas, especially coal and natural gases. The manufacturing business is a hungry beast, and half of Vantania's colonies were established to get food for that beast. Now, I must inquire, seeing as the Buy & Sell Corporation* has a monopoly on bottled air, would there be a market for it in Austro-Africa, or Greater Kirav? Air conditions are always worsening due to unregulated factories across the globe sending pollutants off into the air, you know, and the industrialization of areas like Africa always ends up putting out more pollutants then necessary."

*Well known to be the strongest corporation in Vantanas, as well as having many international holdouts, most notably in Nova Europa, the nation of Siriusa. The only major manufacturing company in Vantanas, and trades widespread in quality, cheap guns. The Arms Industry of course being, arguably, the largest in NationStates, competing with the Oil Industry.

"A joint approach to the Scandivans might be of use, as well as one to Kirav. Indeed one might suggest a gathering of major colonial leaders who are open to the idea of a treaty detailing a free economic zone and mutual recognition of colonial assets would be a good idea. Such a treaty would stabilise the region and in addition make our nations far richer. What are your thoughts on this matter?"

Wolven East Africa, Administrator's Office

"On the subject of purchasing the city ruins, yes I can assent to that under two conditions.

One - You will bring in no armed soldiers or armed vehicles, security forces, police, private contractors or whatever you want to call them. You will be dependent on the Empire of the Wolf for protection and law enforcement.

Two - Any of your personnel or personnel affiliated with your company will be subject to the Laws of the Wolf and of no other nation when in the colony.

If you breach any of these conditions at any time, the contract is declared null and void. We will seize any and all assets located in the colony or indeed in the Empire at large.

Now, onto the idea of making ships pay a toll. This does not sit well with Wolven economic policies, as we believe in the greatest degree of economic freedom that is feasible with the maintenance of an effective and loyal society. If you truly wish to make money off shipping, create a supply and refuel base here for shipping. We have oil in our Western territories along with some refining industry, thus cutting down shipping costs by a significant margin. You can charge rock-bottom prices on fuel, and watch the profits rake in."

"Those conditions are unacceptable. Vantanas would need to have a small garrison of police to prevent crime in the city, and Vantanian citizens will not be placed under the mercy of the foreign law while in Vantanian territory. Perhaps lupine inspectors could insure that the police force does not exceed a certain number, and is only equipped with sidearms. Office of the Governor of The Barronian West African Territory

To all leaders in this continent of ours - it is time for us to meet.

Communication is a wonderful thing, and by far the most useful tool to peace and stability, far more so than any army, navy, or air force. It is with great pride, therefore, that I lead my colony, and indeed this continent, in paving the way for peace, stability, and prosperity.

You are all hereby invited to a conference, a conference on the future of these colonies and of Africa as it is now, and as it will be. Naturally, recognition and economics will be the talk of the day, alongside my personal intention of drawing these colonies together through an economic community.

The conference will be held in two days (OOC: This can be RPed now) at my personal residence in Tamaran, what was Bouar. Please arrive before midday.

Yours with all anticipation,

Governor Robert-Pierre Salvont

Uiri got involved here not for the resources or anything like that. Although we do get imports from here of wonderful food - rainforest has horrible soil for agriculture, deserts are worse nevermind mountains - it is to protect the territory from powers wishing to steal it from the natives. One of the reasons for Swahili being an official language. Yes, let's focus on perhaps a bilateral trade agreement to start? Maybe if we could get more 'colonies' in south-eastern Africa like Scandivans Central Africa or Democratic Eurasia's coastal area we could make it a trading bloc? Maybe even Latislavia's or Miroxia's islands?"

"You have to understand gentlemen, this is the first colonial venture that my government has undertaken every since Atopiana got flattened, quite literally, by Axis Nova. I can't be seen to give away parts of the land we've only just taken, and let's be honest, it is a lot less in terms of size and quality compared to most other territories on this continent.

I am prepared to lease your corporation the land to build the base on a yearly basis, but it will remain land that is part of the Empire of the Wolf. You may have your own security forces and Wolven inspectors will, as you suggested, ensure that the police force does not grow too large and is appropriately armed. The advantage of this is that if the venture does not prove profitable, you cut your losses. I am perfectly open to talk of an outright purchase at a later date, but not right now in these early days."

Official Communique from the Imperial Province of Wolven Western Africa

I would be glad to attend this conference hosted by our Barronian friends. Indeed I hope these talks are as fruitful as the discussions that have just been concluded.

EDIT:

Ambassador Yuklig was glad that he had taken the Mi-7, for whilst it was large and ugly the large open doors kept him cool in the sweltering heat. After landing, his pith helmet, khaki shorts and short-sleeved shirts helped keep him cool on his walk to the meeting place. In his right hand he carried a briefcase full of papers and documents, which he would swap to his left hand from time to time to check his watch to check the time. Administrator Yuklig arrived at the Governor's residence in Tamaran in good time, and walked up to the front door and announced himself.

There were just too many natives in the colony of No Taxes to deal with conventionally, almost 150 million, and a harsh show of force followed by a steady flow of money would pacify the colony. All those in Her Excellency's service were required to wear a uniform (http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/LordBelacqua/FemaleMagistratesUniform.png) (OOC: male (http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/LordBelacqua/MagistrateUniform.png)), and despite the weather, Lovens was not about to go against regulation. White topi on her head, she shook the Governor's hand warmly.

"Governor, such a pleasure you could make it. Please, come inside, we have cold drinks and air condition on hand for you."
"Thank you for the invitation. With the furious scramble for land on this continent, it will be good to sit down and talk things over."

The Vice-Governor responded, "What was once Lake Tanganyika, I presume?"

"Actually Lake Malawi. Tanganyika should keep its name unless you want to change it?" the Protector corrected the Vice-Governor as the servant came back with a piece of official looking paper,"Here is the bilateral agreement I was proposing. If you would sign on the left that would be excellent so that we can put the terms into effect right away."

OOC: Just your standard agreement, no tariffs, quotas or other barriers to free trade between Uir Afirik and Austro-Africa.

From: Free Republic of Vantanas
We will have our African Senator attend the conference personally.

A Senator was sent to attend the conference personally, and arrived with plenty of time.

Captain Steven Granger was available to meet the Senator, and duly met him at the door. Shaking his hand, he offered his greetings - and a cold drink before the conference.

"Of course I'll need to see what rights those are exactly, as you may know our government is not the most...liberal of regimes. I'm sure we can work out a compromise though. As soon as I've taken a look at the legal aspect of things, I'll draft up the documents for the lease and we can get the ball rolling, as it were."

"Of couse you will." the delegate smiled, rummaging in his pocket until he found a pocket-copy of the Constitution. He slid across the table, flipping it open to the Declaration of Rights. As the Administrator flipped through the Declaration of Rights, the delegate spoke, "You will find that, due to the trading posts relative isolation to the rest of Greater Vantanas, you can 'bend' the rights somewhat without anything reaching the ears of the Free Republic." He ended this by winking at the Adminstrator.

OOC: This is just a rough draft, but here you go:
"-No citizen of the Free Republic shall be restricted in anyway in practicing their religion, their speech and thought, their right to a free and uncontrolled media, or of the right to petition government for removal of grievances.
-All citizens of age will be permitted to own and use firearms in a legal fashion, as well as to join the military forces operating under the Free Republic.
-Citizens shall be free from seizure of property by the law or otherwise without warrant deemed by a fair and just judge.
-No citizen shall be taken by the law and held without due reason established by a fair and just judge, and if found to be held unnecessarily, shall be deemed proper compensation for the period of holding.
-All citizens have the right to a fair and speedy trial by either an impartial jury of their peers or a tribune of Vantanian judiciaries. All accused citizens shall be granted the knowledge of their accusations, and shall not be required to plead against themselves.
-Accused citizens shall not be given exorbitant bail costs. Nor shall citizens found guilty under the law be sentenced cruel and unusual punishment, including any form of death or physical harm.
-No sentient being in the Free Republic may legally be forced into involuntary servitude or slavery in any way, shape, or form. Those that are guilty of the transaction of slaves, the use of slave labor, or any other action condoning slavery shall be punished to the full effect of the law.
-Vantanians of all age, gender, and race, shall be treated equally, and no Vantanian may legally have the rights granted in this Declaration abridged in any way."

"The only issue I have is with the size of the firearms that your constitution allows. Wolven citizens are not permitted to possess or purchase any, but I will allow Vantanian citizens to own one handgun per head per household and no more than a hundred rounds of ammunition. If you agree to this, then we have a deal." The Administrator sounded confident and pleased that they were coming to an agreement, one which would benefit both parties immensely.

Nacoo smiled lightly. He was a native to the lands, and had been nominated by the Native Party due to his progressive ideas and successful interaction with the Vantanians. Now he, along with his Vantanian counterparts in the Council, represented the Vantanian Congo in the National Assembly. As he was the only native representing the colony, he had been selected as best to represent Vantanas in the African community.

Nacoo graciously accepted the drink, and returned the greetings to Granger. "So, condition is what in Barronian Africa?"

We in the United Imperium of the Cohenias and Zykrania are appalled by your actions and hereby return to you this ultimatum. You have twenty four hours to hand over all of your African land to the Imperium of Cohenia and the Crown Commonwealth of Praetonia before the Imperium and the Crown Commonwealth will exert force to extract you from the land. You can either drop your threat to the citizens of Gulf Oceana or cede your land to the governments of Praetonia and Cohenia. Both King George IV of Praetonia and Emperor Ferrin I of Cohenia hope you comply peacefully.

"No, we aren't. That is what makes the Kiravian Empire unique. We are fiercely colonialist, yet we understand that the natives of a colony have a culture, society, and way of life that must be respected. As such, we typically colonise uninhabited territories. But here, in Austro-Africa, all shall be well for the Africans. There were some, those that attacked us, that were displaced, but they shall be given fair trials, judged by fellow Africans, and treated humanely. The others will be permitted to retain most of their land, and be given local autonomy."

Scramble

v. int.

1. To move or climb hurriedly, especially on the hands and knees.
2. To struggle or contend frantically in order to get something: scrambled for the best seats.

The small aircraft's wheels touched the ground. It helped that Uir Afirik was an hour ahead of the place where the meeting was taking place. He moved towards the destination of the summit hoping to get a word with some of his neighbours. Unfourtunately, those administering the BWAT probably had other things in mind. "They're being taken care of. Naturally, there are some difficulties in a time of transition like this, and Barronia's governmental structure can be difficult to come to terms with, but we're sure they'll find life under us much more pleasing than before. Effective public transport, education, jobs - especially with Imperial Ground and Barronian Anbaric - plus the option of serving Her Excellency, which is particularly well paid. I trust all is well in Vantanian Congo?"

"I see. Vantanian Congo is good, natives being learned English. Transition made easier since most know Anglo-Afrikaans. Lots of oil found offshore, and trade posts in other colonies made. Look forward to trade conference and trade boom. What resources in Barronian Africa?" Tacoo said, smiling as he sipped at his drink, "When the conference start?"

The occupation of the Congo was now offical as the local government's surviving leaders had at last surrendered to the Empire and now the offical settlement of the costal regions began as the forest was cleared away by fire and the locals relocated into the interior settlements which had been developed to centralize the largely scattered population of the tropical forest, in order to prevent any large organized resistance to emerge inside of the vast forests of the Congo.

"It is funny, and yes, we do have Kiravian settlers coming from the Homelands. We believe that a colony shouldn't just be an area for exploit of rescources, but the birthplace of a new, colonial society, and an extension of Kiravian civilisation. Governor Orsino Ghirlandaio of Cookbroughan Eastern Africa was looked over through the clouds in a pensive mind, Governor Giuseppe D'Ambaro of Aegitto was looking through his briefcase organizing his papers. The two got along but were polar opposites.

Very soon the plane would be landing.

Lieutenant-Governor Lovens, hearing word that the Cookbroughan governors were in airspace, immediately was driven to the airport. Little more than a one-terminal setup with a recently surfaced runway, it was among the first things built on arrival in the town.

Pacing the lounge, Lovens waited for their arrival, stripping off her jacket in the heat.

"Actually, not as much as you would think. We are leaving the natives alone, just trying to protect them from those who wish to be harmed. Mostly we are just pavong roads and building pre-cautions along the border. A hospital there, a school there too but that is at the High King's request. Where are we headed?"

"Interesting. We find that complete reconstruction serves them better. Naturally, the beginning stages are the hardest, persuading the people that we're here for their own good, but they all tend to come round, once they realise that it'll serve them much better in the future."

"Yes, this good to hear. Vantanian Congo has oil aplenty for such small colony, or so am told. Tell me what you do in colony? You look like soldier." Tacoo glanced at his watch, which was in native numbers, to ascertain the time.

"Ah, yes - well spotted. I'm currently in charge of overseeing law and order in Tamaran - a police chief of sorts, save that the Colonial Expeditionary Force is managing law and order for now, until we can recruit more natives into the local police force, train, and uniform them. Unlike popular opinion - or so it would seem to be popular opinion - we're fond of bringing local people into the government structure, allow them the right to rule themselves, to an extent. Generally, the Governor's status becomes more ceremonial than practical."

The translator relayed the reply once the King had finished speaking, he was tired, "Maybe I should bring up the suggestion to the Protector. Do you think it would be good idea? I mean, they wouldn't know the language, would they? Maybe if he can educate them for life here and then children would get taught both languages in school, as is happening now. "Certainly, if that is a tried and tested method - but we find that fighting every little argument about how things won't work tedious and counter-productive - much better to ship everything in and build as necessary. It all pays off in the end - especially for the locals.

Our homeland is not as populated as it was - Barronia now owns a multitude of colonies - a part of Cazelia, Gresta, Lotet, this part of Africa, a part of Vantania and Soli'vil, our Makistanian territory, plus our latest acquisitions of Saphonia and Barronian Mirrania. So you can see, we're not particularly short on space, although it can get crowded. 6 billion people have to have somewhere to stay, after all!"

It was early afternoon in the small town of Acacia Grove, Austro-Africa, Population: 284. Sæl Hall, an Echoese-Kiravian, was walking back home from his farm. But as he neared the tiny settlement, what he saw made his knees weak.

Smoke rose from the red-orange flames of the burning town. Zulu warriors whooped as they drove spears into the Kiravian inhabitants. Hall's thoughts went to his wife and two children. Primitive impulse consumed his mind, and he unslung the rifle from his back, secured the bayonet on top, and ran towards the blood-happy savages. He shot one, slew two with his bayonet, whacked several with the rear of his gun, and merely knocked a few out of the way as he made for the gates of his burning village. The colourful houses of Kiravic architecture were smouldering under plumes of oily smoke. Gas fires, he thought. The ran for his house, killing any Zulu who had the misfortune of crossing his path. He found his home intact, thanking God, he raced into his house to find no one. Not even a corpse. No blood, no sign of a struggle. They must have fled. At the far side of the village, he met up with an armed group of his neighbours. "What's happened here?" he demanded. His friend Jól, a Phaerov, answered, "They came out of nowhere. One minute, I'm tending my trees, then Lieutenant Northlake's house explodes. They had a few gas grenades from somewhere."

"Where's Karona? And my kids?"

"I saw them leaving. We sent the women and children to Streambed, for safety. A lucky few though. Most of the village is dead."
--

Reports of this massacre reached the Colonial Government in Saar-Austroafrica. One hundred and thirty dead citizens. The Austro-Africa Provincial Army was dispatched to the area immediately. When Governor Telford returned, he would find an order to evict all Zulu from Austro-Africa on his desk, waiting to be signed.

What is your opinions?"

"Well, a lot depends. If the Uir can reproduce faster than your people, then it might cause discontent amongst them, being overtaken by an alien majority. It also depends on how your people make their living, and how that would be affected. 'No, your majesty, with all due respect I believe we covered this point earlier. You will act, with a Eurasian civil service, police force and military, as the local regional governor. That is a governor of a region within a larger province run by Viceroy Gomez from Maputo. You will have a certain level of authority, subject to the Viceroy's orders. A special allowance will be made fr your post to be hereditary but your people and the Mozambicans will elect a new Viceroy just as soon as the electoral system has been established. And the Viceroy will be subject to orders from the parliament, council and Prime Minister back in Geneva.' Col. Thierdeht privately felt like screaming. Four hours of repeating himself and listening the this stone-age, self important fool repeat himself- why of why had he agreed to being the negotiator. Across the table the King considered the matter. Again.
'But this is a violation of our history and culture.'
'Yes I know but that would involve my enslaving or killing all the men in the land, enslaving and raping all the women, enslaving or killing all the children, burning every building we found and running off with everything movable.' Thierdeht snapped 'Your majesty, I must reach a conclusion of some sort soon and transmit it back to Mozambique. Will you cooperate with us or not?'
'I will cooperate. But I warn you, even before you came I have been facing major civil unrest. There are some who will use you to form a resistance movement and try to seize power in this country.' the king sighed, 'They may force you to violence.'
Thierdeht paused and looked at his assistant- a Dr. Lasierre, one of the advisors- and turned back to the king.
'I appreciate your assistance, your majesty, it is far more pleasant to have you as an ally rather than an enemy. As to these resistants, well if they do organise enough to annoy us they'll be dealing with two thousand motorised infantrymen- well trained, well led and well armed. Fast and deadly- if there was a serious rebellion then I could easily request reinforcements for up north. If you could give information on those who you believe will try this then I'd be very grateful.'
'I think we should adjourn the meeting now.' said Lasierre, 'The Colonel needs to talk to Viceroy Gomez and I'm sure your majesty will wish to talk to your own advisers and experts.'
As they returned to the Eurasian headquarters Thierdeht phoned ahead
'Make sure you get Gomez's office I need to talk to him immediatly. And get Lt-Cols Weiss and Keiner over here on the double. And Mr. Oorden.' He growled down the car phone, referring to the SSO* officer recently attached to his headquarters. He put the phone down and turned to the Dr.
'I'll want you there too, Louis.'
'Of course, Colonel'

As the The United Imperiums of the Cohenias and Zykrania is part of the Mekugian Commonwealth we are obliged to defend them, as such we have rerouted out 3rd Naval Fleet from Shaneskia proper to Carlios in case any of the other nations in Africa have a problem with the Cohenian claim.

Tacoo smiled at the mention of the Governor being ceremonial. "Let me tell you, Vantanas had unsuccessful coup after Vante-Kroandon War. Coup killed King Barzahl, and to keep peace, executives made executive branch ceremonial. Good for me, as a Senator, eh?"

Vantanian Congo

The Zulu had been evicted from Austro-Africa, and this had caused them to go to surrounding colonies. Well, some at least, others would no doubt fight to the death for their ancestral homeland. Those that did decide to leave would go north, as Austro-Africa was as south as you could get without hitting water, and filtered into Scandinvan Central Africa. Here, the Scandinvans would try to handle them, and some Zulu would not like this, and be forced to flee into the next colony: The Vantanian Congo. Here, Vantanians would try to pacify them and get them under their thumb. Angered, and with nowhere left to run, the Zulu fought against the Vantanians.

Joeseph and Simon were leading a group of hunters into the wilderness when the Zulu warriors attacked. Twenty of them, and they caught the Vantanians completely by surprise. With a scream, Luke, one of Joseph's servants, fell to a spear. The rest of the group whirled around to see their deaths. Spears mere moments away from a further nine hunters planted themselves in their chest. Roses of blood spurted out, and these nine died. Pulling up their hunting weapons, they exchanged blows with the warriors. Screaming profanities in some African language, the Zulu fled back into the bush with their three dead. Meanwhile, Simon, the sole survivor, pulled out his cell phone and called for help.

Twelve hours later, the Colonial Militia swooped into the bush, and wiped away the Zulu responsible. The other Zulu found had fought back, but only three of them had guns, and short work was made of them. The corpses of the dead Zulu were gathered together, and hung from trees on the border, as a testament to Vantanian prowess.

Vantanian Somaliland

The reconstruction of Djibouti was underway, with the harbour and surrounding areas completely done. The old plans of the city were followed to the most part, although in many places it was found that it would be easier to just go with Vantanian plans, as they fit the idea and purpose of the city better. Already, Vantanians filtered into the new trade colony, and the economy of the city, dubbed New Calcutta, was booming. Merchant ships arrived in the harbours now, from places like the Vantanian East Indies and the other Vantanian colonies in Africa.

Vantanian Cape

Just as New Calcutta was burgeoning, so to was Port Elizabeth, dubbed South Port. The new city was being centered around two tracks of monorail, which extened from the harbour to the city limits, before fanning out in all directions into Austro-Africa. Everyday, Vantanians arrived by boat, traders went in and out of the harbors, Vantanian goods were shipped out from the harbour, and Austro-African goods were brought in by monorail. The Vantanian economic giant was working wonders in South Port, benifitting both the Kiravians and the Vantanians.

General Beck walked down into the quiet room, his hands behind his back. Here, a large screen showed a radar map of all of Carilos, a combined interface of every radar and blind spot in Carilos. Scanning the map, he could see Cohenian airlifters. Smiling, he turned to the newsboard, which displayed local and international news. Scrolling down, he noticed support from Skyian authorities. Hmmm he thought, seems like they believe the Cohenians should occupy us...we'll see.

Near Praetonian Airspace

The diplomatic team, which had four diplomats plus many others representing both Tunysian and Algerian Communes, two native diplomats and two from Third Spanish States origins, was on an airplane, moving towards Barronian West Africa to attend to the summit. The pilot quickly informed through radio as they crossed the borders between Algerian Communes and Praetonian West Africa, she hoped they would not block their way:

"This is captain Janie Donnell from Algerian Airlines Boeing 747 number seven and Algerian and Tunysian communes diplomatic convoy, we are heading to the Barronian summit, requesting permission to cross your airspace"
Government House
Georgetown
Praetonian West Africa

Sir Hugh Fitzwilliam sipped his tea. Reading his crumpled air-mail copy of The Kingston Herald he became increasingly angry. Interesting things were afoot - the election, the growing dispute with Kahanistan, the invasion of Shansekia - but they were happening a long way away, in Continentia, where there was real power and influence. His posting as Governor-General of Praetonian West Africa, though nominally one of great prestige, and removable only at the discretion of the King himself, was widely acknowledged to be a career-ending job. While he suspected political conspiracy, he accepted that it was also possible he simply wasn't considered worthy of a career-advancing promotion in His Majesty's Government.

"Governor-General." It was Air Vice-Marshal Fielding. The Governor-General stood up, and the airman saluted. "Sir, five minutes ago an aircraft from the communist states to the North passed into our airspace. They claim to be a diplomatic convoy attending a summit. Should I grant them permission to overfly the territory?"

The Governor-General sat back down, "Yes, yes," he flapped, irritably. Another dull business. He did not know who these communists were, and he was of the opinion that a representative of King George IV ought not to bother himself with such trifling states.

The airman saluted. "Sir." He turned to leave, stamping his polished boots against the equally polished marble floor.

"Although-" the Governor-General began. The scheme had just occured to him - it was madness, perhaps, but it was also brilliant. It could secure his advancement and make him a household name. It could also break him, but he imagined himself broken already. "Suppose I were to distrust this aircraft... do we have the means to force it down?"

The airman turned. "Why of course, Sir! His Majesty's 91st Colonial Interceptor Squadron 500km from the Northern border is ready to scramble at a moment's notice."

"Jolly good," the Governor-General said, smiling for the first time since he had arrived in this godforsaken country, "make the proper arrangements, will you? Then join me for a drink."

"Sir?" But the Governor-General had returned, contented, to his paper, oblivious to the Vice-Marshal's presence.

Several kilometers from the Northern border
Praetonian West Africa

The squadron of twelve Shrike (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/RACShrike4.png) land interceptor variants reached the border quickly. They kept a distance from the foreign plane, even exchanging friendly chatter. They allowed it to continue its course within Praetonian territory, presenting nothing amiss and making only friendly gestures towards it.

And then they swept to the side and came upon the plane from behind, forming up around it, surrounding it on all sides.

"Foreign aircraft, permission to fly within Praetonian airspace has been denied pending proof of identity check. You are ordered to come with us to IFC Georgetown and present yourselves to customs officials. Provided all is well, you will be permitted to continue with your journey. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

well I have RL proof from them...

This isn't as much fun as I had hoped...I may sell my nation's colony

If you sell to the Kiravian Empire, any Surailian citizens in the territory will be given full Imperial citizenship. Also, we will allow Surailia Proper to have some representation in the colonial legislatures.

The Governors' Plane touched down in Barronian Africa and they exited the plane. Nearby they saw Lieutenant-Governor Lovens waiting for them.

No Taxes suggests you sell to us as we are regional partners, facilitating any immigration of your colonists or diplomatic negotiations. We are willing to offer a substantially large amount of money.

Selling it to Barronia will result in all colonists being given indefinate leave to remain, alongside keeping Surailian heritage. We can offer some damned fine money, alongside Surailia keeping some form of territory or military establishment inside the colony.

Lovens rushed out to meet the gentlemen from the Cooksbrough colony.

"Sirs! A pleasure for you to join us. Welcome to Barronian West Africa. I'm Lieutenant-Governor Lovens, I'll be escorting you back to the Governor's residence."

In addition to our earlier stated offer, we will allow Surailia to maintain bases in the colony, and give them a percentage of government revenue form the colony.

In which case, could we purchase Lesotho and Togo? THey are only small tracts of territory, and furhtermore, Lesotho is completely surrounded by Kiravian territory. The citizenship and military base provisions that we mentioned earlier will apply to this territory as well. Plus, we will return it to you, should you decide at a later time to re-enter the African Contient.

OOC: Sir, I have IC proof from Shansekia that he surrendered the colony to me. You have no IC basis that the colony is yours, for all we know you could've forged the TG! I can easily state that Praetonia sent me a telegram stating he surrendered his colony to me, which he never said ICly. Shansekia, however, in a post said that the colony was now mine.
