Deurem Civil war has gone nuclear.

Deurem

A quick check on any video sharing website or internet fourm could find various mp3 files and videos about a civil war that was happening in the nation of Deurem. It had been 10 months since the Deurem civil war had started and both sides had thrown everything that had into their war. It had only been a matter of time before one of them used one of 250 nuclear weapons that were sprawled all over the nation.

A simple file named "speech" held a message made by General Demetri Zohac leader of Nationalist Armed Forces. The sound quality was grainy and in the faint sound of gun shots and screams could be heard.

The traitors of our nation have sold our once grand nation to the capitalist pigs as if we were a cheap whore. Our cultural, our history and our people have been desecrated by the foreigners. All the meanwhile the traitors stand back filling their pockets with money from the capitalists and watch the down fall of their nation. Such a thing can not stand. Blood has been spilled on our nation. My blood by the capitalist traitors. They will pay... they will all pay for their treachery.

Another quick search on the internet would reveal a string of various videos that showed the atrocities that the Nationalist Armed Forces (NAF) had commited. A paticular one being of a multi racial village being exterminated by a death squad. The reason for such an act... they were refugees and not of Deurem.

Lastly if one were to look for the defunct Deurem News Network they would find the official website. It was disorganized and looked unprofessional. On the front page a ticker would pass by. In big black bold letters it said;

Nuclear detonation confirmed! Captial of the city of West Deurem completely destroyed. Estimated casualties; 75,000+. Democratic Deurem Party official confirms nuclear silo buried underneath the nearby amusement park was the epicenter of blast. Heavy fighting still continues. No word on the cause of detonation.

Below it was a video of a Mi-8 helicopter above the tree line. It was shooting its flares as missiles and RPG rockets light the sky around it. Finally a minute into the video the helicopter was hit and its tail rotor blown off as it dissapeared. Below that video a news article that if read would comment that Marcos Gonzalez a very important figure for the Deurem Democratic Party had been onboard the Mi-8 that was shot down. The helicopter had been found and its pilots a few feet away from it as well a gunner. All three men were confirmed dead but the 13 year old Marcos could not be found. A frantic man hunt he commenced for the young Marcos would was wanted dead.

Situation Room, Orbathain Military Headquarters, Orbath City, Orbath

Assembled in the finely furnished room were the highest ranking military officials in Orbath, including the Minister of Defense as well as advisors from other key Ministries. The President, sat at the head of the table, clearly concerned about what was going on.

''I'm sorry for calling you here, especially seeing as many of you are quite busy with the Cripistan conflict. I trust you've read your briefings.''

The President motioned to the folders placed in front of each one of the people in the room. When everyone nodded, he continued, pulling a small device from his pocket. He motioned to a screen on the wall.

''This conflict already has enough human rights abuses to make Hitler look like a saint, now we've got nuclear weapons. This is a major threat to international security. We don't now how these weapons could be used, or who could use them.''

The President looked, so far happy with the nods of approval.

''Essentially, at this time, we do not have manpower to commit to a large scale operation, I know this. I do feel that it is needed we gather as much information as possible and should it be needed, hit em with covert, deniable, special operations missions to disarm them.''

The President looked around. For once, nobody disagreed.

''I propose we insert several field operatives on civilians aircraft to do a bit of snooping. If anything is dug up, we can drop a spec ops team in a matter of hours.''

So it was decided. Several intelligence operatives bordered planes. They carried fake papers should they be asked to produce them. They would be heading on a long trip, through several different nations, before finally arriving.

Deurem International Airport

The DIA as it was most commonly known was the only airport that was still open along with six other small time airports. The rest had simply been bombed or taken over for military use. DIA was empty than usual. Even with civil conflict people still came by abit for more narfarious reasons. The Arms Manufacturing industry was booming as weapons were needed by both sides. The two factions then would sale their surplus weapons to anyone who had the cash. Though the NAF were known to supply terrorist and rebel organizations.

The Operatives, six in all, would simply spread out across the nation, gathering as much information as possible. Should they be able to, they would speak with member of different rebel groups. Several would pose as arms dealers, telling rebel groups they were capable of getting them nuclear weapons.

A representive for the Deurem Democratic Party one of the two biggest and powerful factions in the conflict was to meet Orbath agent (of course he doesn't know its an agent) who might know where other nuclear weapons might be. While the Nationalist Armed Forces were more radical and ready to use WMD's to unite the country, the Deurem Democratic Party was trying to put a stop to its rival's cruel actions. As such they wanted to aquire the remaining nuclear missiles to prevent them from being used or sold. "I hear you can get us nuclear weapons..." he told the agent as he then walked over to the man.

IMPERIAL SITUATION ROOM, JOSE RIZAL MILITARY HQ, MANIYLAD

The monitors on the situation room is tuned in to every news channel available for viewing internationally possible, one such is reporting about the civil war in Deurem, the President is not such interested, but the Vice is taking notice, when the King and the President goes on a Christmas Party in ViZion, he watches very closely as the civil war unfolds, then a news ticker rolled, "Nuclear detonation confirmed! Captial of the city of West Deurem completely destroyed. Estimated casualties; 75,000+. Democratic Deurem Party official confirms nuclear silo buried underneath the nearby amusement park was the epicenter of blast. Heavy fighting still continues. No word on the cause of detonation".

The Vice President then called every high ranking official in the Empire, for a "Eagle Down" meeting, the Eagle Down is still currently in use from the dispute over a mad doctor just over the North Border of their nation in Europe, as the Generals begin to assemble, he began to speak.

"Gentlemen, ever heard of Deurem?" the Vice asked

"Yes Sir," echoed in the halls as all of the generals answered

"Sir, is that the country where a civil war ensued ten months ago?" asked Jonathan Bruno, Honorary Imperial Magistrate

"Correct, Magistrate, and anybody knows what the hell is going on over there?"

Nobody knows the answer as this issue was long forgotten in the Empire

"if you turn your attention in monitor 14 over there, it will enlighten you," the Vice said

Everybody is surprised as they watch brutal fighting over Deurem, and several seconds later, the News network replayed the tape of the Nuclear Detonation, everybody in the Situation Room is in shock,

"Well, you all know now, perhaps?, now, anybody got any idea what should be our stand here in this situation?"

"Excuse me, Sir, but we should not make any actions until the King and the President gets back here," General Taniada said, Imperial Defense Coordinator,

The Vice had a grin then sipped a glass of water,

"Until the King and the President returns at the Empire, im in charge, im the Commander in Chief of the Imperial Army, so, my decisions will be for the better of the Empire, understand?" The Vice said irritated,

"Yes,Sir" Taniada said,

"Ok, any suggestions?,"

"We should send aid to the people, like food and medicines," a General said

"Yes, we can send that, but are you sure it will get there in one piece?, in the brutal fighting there, no way is a convoy gonna make it alive, so i suggest we send an detachment of the Imperial Army, and liberate Deurem,"
General Hanks said

"I'll agree with you, General Hanks, we shall send a detachment, perhaps 5 battalions, switch our Defcon to 2," the Vice said

"Ok, this meeting is now closed, in the morning, we shall send 5 battalions, get them to shape, and train them while you can, Dismiss,"the Vice said

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" General Steven Phillip Grimmeberger yelled at the top of his lungs. His aides all cringed, but were relieved. General Grimmeberger, the Head of State of the FFS, was more dangerous when he got mad and dead calm than when he blew up like this.
"The rebel Dueremian communists have used a nuclear weapon and may have the head of the legitimate government in captivity."
"We're gonna send someone to help out this Marcos kid and his allies. Got it?"
"Right, sir."
"No fewer than 20,000 men to support them. I want 50,000 men ready to help the Deurem Democratic Party, understood?"
"Aye, sir."

The man remained cool, a small microphone recording what he and this other man said.

''I'm surprised you were able to get a hold of me. Despite my business, I pride myself on being quite hard to find.''

He was lying of course, he'd set himself up multiple times to be found.

''I do have nuclear weapons. Many of them. Several from this nation and may other foreign ones. I do have stipulations though. I want to know why you want them, and information on who you plan on using them on. This will help me decide what to give you and at what price.''

He was fishing. The more information he could get, the better.

16 hours after General Grimmeberger ordered it, 200,000 men (four times what he had demanded be sent) were preparing to depart to aid the Deurem Democratic Party, and to help in the search for Marcos Gonzalez. The Grey Army, as it was known, was under the command of one of the two brother-generals: Feldmarschal Artus Milvian. Furthermore, a large number of aircraft had been sent, to bomb out the missile silos where the nukes were held. Communists in possesion of nuclear weapons was a grave threat to the FFS, as it was not exactly a secret that it was staunchly anti-Communist. While not the most important of targets, it would still be severely at risk. That, and as a member of ACID, the Federation of the Fanboyist States was bound to send aid to all victims of red aggression. The following message was sent:

To: The Deurem Democratic Party

I am sending a substantial amount of military aid to help you in your fight against the red usurpers who are threatening all that is good in Deurem, nay, the world. We will stand by you, brothers in arms, and help you in reestablishing peace and stability to Deurem. However, if you do not wish for us to enter your country to help, and there is something else we can do instead, just say.

Your Ally,
Generalissimo (or General) Steven Phillip Grimmeberger, Head of State of the FFS, member of the Anti-Communist Initiative for Defense (ACID) and a leader in the fight against all that is unholy and communist.

OOC: I hope you don't mind if I add a little part where a secret group tries to sort the situation out. Not a very big group, numbering around 40 individuals. Won't be in many battles but will try and sort the situation their own way.

Rogue Squad Operations:

Rogue Squad had been a former part of the Londim military but now, like its name suggested, it had gone rogue. The Squad had gone Rogue after being disillusioned by the way the Lodim miltary acted and now was out on its own to stop the madmen of the world.

Deurem was most likely the worst situation in the world right now and that is why Rogue Squad had chosen it as its first target.

"Nuclear weapons, civilians cut down, genocide and for what? The greater good?".

The man who spoke was Former General Kyte and the leader of Rogue Squad. He faced the men and women in front of him, all who had followed him when the Londim military turned their back.

"As far as I can tell neither sie knows of our presence and why should they? It is better for us to work undercover and get rid of the scum who killed so many innocents to please so few. The key to this operation is one Marcos Gonzales, the key to all of this. I want him secured safely so he can be handed back to the DDP. It would be a bonus if we can get the ones responsible for the 75000 plus murders in the explosion and for all the other crimes they have commited. Preferably I want them dead."

At this Rogue Squad moved, undercover but not underarmed.

Monte Negra

It was about to be four days since Marcos Gonzalez had been shot over enemy airspace. Lucky he and his two bodyguards had been able to survive. Now as he entered the fourth day on the run he was now alone. One of his men had valiantly sacrificed himself by staying behind and acting as a diversion. The other one fell to a unexploded bomb that lay inside a apartment building that they had taken shelter in. Now all alone Marcos had to do everything to make it back to the city of Santa Maria.

The trip would take four more days by walking and if he could aquire a vehicle it would take two and a half days. Sadly there was no way he could get close enough to one without taking the risk of being caught. As he lay hidden underneath a pile of bodies he closed his eyes and clenched the AK-103 he had in his hands. A enemy patrol stood just a few feet away from him. They would occasionaly jab the piles of bodies to see if anyone was still alive. Marcos hoped that they would ignore the pile of bodies he was hiding in or else he was dead.

With fears of other militaries moving in, and possible strikes against nuclear silos, the operatives were ordered out of the country.

''I've left a number, call in a few hours,'' called the operative as he left the meeting, hailing a cab. The number, was a fake.

The operatives each boarded planes and would make the long trip, bouncing from nation to nation, finally arriving home. They came with important intelligence, about a man, Marcos Gonzalez. He had actually been spotted several times, but had managed to escape. One of his bodyguards was found in Monte Negra, and is was likely, due to the amount of soldiers, that he was still there.

Operation Escort

A small team of Orbathian Air Calvary was to be inserted, just west of Monte Negra, to begin the search for Marcos.

Just before nightfall, the team, consisting of six soldiers, boarded a C-78 cargo aircraft, to begin the flight.

''Alright boys, last time I go through this. We are to enter, locate our package and get him to safety, you hear. I'm not going to have any shit blown to bits, we are to remain quiet. We're going to try to avoid the city, satellite recce shows a build up.''

The six soldiers sat, checking their gear and weapons for a final time. The aircraft was about to enter enemy airspace, flying just above the radar.

Monte Negra
The city was pouring with NAF death squads looking for Marcos. Marcos as such had for the last day mapping out the city and doing some intel to where his enemy was located. He had dropped his AK-103 after it was broken when he fought a two man patrol team and had taken one of their Uzi's. His ordeal was lessen by knowing that the city was still inhabited by the remainder of its people who were still fighting back. He hadn't meant any of them but he knew they were out there.

''Approaching DZ, ETA 5 minutes.''

The voice rang out in the cargo compartment of the C-78 aircraft. In this compartment, six of the most elite soldiers in all of Orbath sat. Despite their previous experiences and past operations, each still remained nervous and slightly fearful. They had very little chance of actually finding this guy, but hoped for the best. Warrant Officer Jackson sat, a veteran of 6 operations.

''Give that kit another check, once we hit the ground we ain't got time for that shit.''

The red glow from the lights cast a strange shadow across his desert combat uniform. He pulled a tan colored bandana over his face, just below his goggles. He gripped his weapon, an M-4 Carbine tightly. Beside him sat two men dressed nearly identical to him. Across from him were three more men, bearing his grim expression.

A small buzz issued in the cargo compartment. The soldiers stood grabbing handles on the walls. They pulled their rucksacks onto their backs. The cargo ramp lowered, ropes dropped to the ground and they slid. Each with a small thud, their feet hit the ground. They dropped to a prone position, in a circle facing outwards, waiting for their eyes to adjust and the noise from aircraft to dissipate. A large cloud of dust had been kicked up, forcing the soldiers to utilize their thermal sights.

The Warrant Officer, satisfied with what had happened, allowed them to break formation and turn, so he could quickly address them.

''You better fucking all know where were going by now. 2 klicks east to the dry riverbed, lets move.''

They formed and arrowhead formation, and began towards the riverbed. It was roughly 1 a.m. and they wanted to ensure they were properly hidden and prepared for the next day. Their hide had been chosen due to its remote location, activity around the area was minimal, however, it was close to the city, and two roads leading into it.

As they walked, each section member remembered their duties upon arriving at the hide. Two would keep watch while the other s set up camo netting, the radio, hid their tracks and set up their bedding.

Small 3 man patrols circled around the area where the dry riverbed was. Scattered around the area were several ditches full of the bodies who refused to help the ultra-nationalist. There charred bodies gave a horrid stench.

The men could smell the foul stench and hear the sounds of patrols as they passed. Still, they felt safe in their position. Throughout the night and the next day they noted the times of the enemy patrols. One of the radio operators continusly scanned through stations, listening for information on sightings of Marcos.

Rogue Squadron had been busy. After identifying what the enemy patrols looked like, they had gone about neutralizing as many as possible. Still there was no sign of Marcos and without any leads so far this was turning into a needle in the haystack type of situation. If the enemy had him it would be more than likely that they would have made it public knowledge by now. So he was still out there...

"This is Marcos Gonzalez if anyone can here me know that I am still alive. Continue on fighting comrades. The new day awaits us."
The radio broadcast was being played over and over again around the nation. Macros was still alive and in the ruins of the city of Monte Negra. A second transmission sent news that a an armored division was on its way to finally kill the symbol of democracy. A day away from the city the Rouge Sqaudron and Orbathian Air Calvary would have to race to the Monte Negra's city hall where Marcos hid along with a company of rebels.

''Sir are you hearing this.''

Several members of the AC section were gathered around the radio. Sure enough, it sounded like Marcos. Of course, it could have been a trap so they recorded the message and sent it back to High Command in Orbath. They compared it to other recording of Marcos from his speaches. It confirmed that the man on the radio was indeed Marcos. The problem of course would be getting there. They were a day away, a day away if the section went straight through the city. It would be a day and a half to three if they went around as much as possible. After thinking for a few minutes, the Warrant Officer came up with a plan. He checked his notes, the next enemy patrol wouldn't be coming by for another few hours. He ordered the section to gather and prepare their kit.

It was night again, the moon covered by thick clouds. That was good though, it needed to be nice and dark. The members of the section surveyed their surrounding through night vision goggles. Their boots made almost no noise as they trudged through the dry river bed. They were headed for a small road marked on their map, that lead into the city. As they got close, they climbed out of the river bed, travelling instead towards the entrance to the city. Luckily, because the riverbed had once contained water, vegetation still grew along the river. This provided them cover. The Warrant Officer halted them. From there they could see the road, leading directly into the city. If there was a roadblock or enemy patrol, they'd be able to see it.

"We're getting a message!", shouted one of the Squad.

The Squad heard the message play and then silence.

"Finally we have some direction. Now I'm going to guess this message went out on all frequencies so the enemy also know that Marcos is still alive. Have we got a location on where the message was broadcast from?"

"Coming in now....Monte Negras city hall..."

"Son of a....! Right everyone gear up. This is no time for stealth. We're going to get through that city the hard way and take out every patrol on the way. It's more than likely that the patrols will be bigger so we have to be quick. I'm not losing any of you lot out there."

Monte Negra City Hall

"They won't stop coming...." Marcos whispered as he looked through the scope of the SVD sniper rifle and fired at an unspecting soldier's head. The once innocent boy had already had his hands soaked in blood and baptized by fire. All his training had prepared him for the moment and he was damn happy that he knew how to use a firearm. He had been stuck inside the old mayor's officer on the third story of the 6 story building. The ultra-nationalist presence was virtually gone seeing as how there was no value in the ruined city intill now.

Now every ultra-nationalist patrol in neighboring cities was racing for the priced body of the royal. Luckly the war had moved much of the needed resources far away from Marcos and his enemies leaving him to combat at worst a BMP and airborne troops. "Gotcha.." Marcos said as crawled away from the window where he had fired and to another room. The wall had a large small that gave the boy pefect vantage point to snipe. He held his breath took aim and shot at another infrantry soldier. The first shot missed and the man looked around trying to figure out where Marcos was. Big mistake as Marcos's next shot hit its target. The bullet ripped into the man's unprotected torso and he fell like a sack of potatos.

Just as he was about to fire another shot the radio he left in the other room crackled into life. He crouched and manuvered his way back to the electronic. "What is it?,over." the boy asked in a serious tone.

"Enemy reinforcements are coming... by air. We already wasted all of our 9K38 Igla's on the first wave." the voice on the other side of the radio said to Marcos. We'll be needing you to reveal your position and use the PKM you have with you."

The section waited several minutes, scanning for any sign of a road block or enemy patrol. Satisfied there wasn't one, they moved out of the trees and into the open. The travelled along the road, entering the city. They slipped into a back alley, taking them between streets until they came to their objective. A large sewer grate that would lead them right outside city hall. Several soldiers took watch while the other climbed in, then they to joined them, pulling the cover over. The sewer was pitch black and of course, smelly. They donned their gas masks to protect them against fumes and hopefully any diseases. They trudged through the muck for hours. There was really nowhere anyone wanted to stop and rest. The Warrant Officer looked at his GPS.

''Two blocks away.''

As the section continued walking, they could hear the sounds of battle overhead. They spotted the sounds of AK-47s and also a Draganov. They stopped at the street right in front of the entrance to city hall. They had four choices. They could come up out front, on the north side, or on the south, east or west sides. The Warrant Officer didn't have blueprints but guessed that their was probably a back or side entrance. He decided on the south side. The section trudged for a few minutes more, noticing the sounds of battle seemed quieter. He pushed the sewer cover open, and found himself standing in the best possible place. A back alley. Sure enough, there was a door. He divided the section into three fireteams. Alpha and Bravo covered each side of the alley. Charlie would enter the building and recover Marcos. The Warrant knew that banging on the door would get no response except maybe a hail of bullets. They'd think he was the enemy. Instead he fired a grappling hook from his M-203 up onto a ledge about two stories up. He climbed the grappling hook, and entered a windo just below the ledge. He called out.

''Marcos, Marcos! We're here to rescue you!''

Rogue Squadron was racing towards the sounds of battle. They approached like a deadly wave, destroying anything in their path to secure Marcos and get him out of this hell hole. They were a few streets away from the city hall when the first big battle began. It was time for Duck Cover Kill. Each member found cover (there was much to choose from in this ruined city) and fired at the Ultra Nationalists.

"Don't stop! Move forward!", yelled Commander Kyte. Rogue Squadron complied. The first wave of Ultra Nationalists fell like Domino's. If Marcos didn't know help was coming before, he sure the hell did now.

Marcos heard his name, maybe it was the intensity of the firefight or that constant state of paranoia that he had to endure while in enemy held territory but whatever it was the boy didn't feel safe. The table beside him was chalk full of weapons. He dropped the sniper rifle and grabed a Ak-74u before annoucing himself to the foreigner. "Who is it!" he yelled just as a enemy bullet went by his head and broke hit the metal cabinent behind him.

Meanwhile the rebels in the city hall took note of the presence of the Rebel Squadron.Their relief was short lived as one of their observers at the outskirts of town reported of a large number of Mil-8's heading to the city hall.
