Unfortunately, since NSWiki is down, some of the stats may be a bit vague or off a bit...
Overview: The Dragon Kingdom of South Lorenya received its name from being a monarchy (sort of) almost exclusively populated by Lorenyan Dragons.
Motto: "By the Dragons, for the Dragons"
Current ruler: King DragonAtma
Lorenyan Dragons: The average height of most Lorenyan Dragons are about 6'9"-7'9", although it varies wildly. There are strains as small as 1'10 and as large as 30 feet tall. Average weight for the most common strains are 275-415 pounds, while the others range as low as 5 pounds and as high as 12 tons! All of them vastly outlive humans -- the average life expectancy for most is around two thousand, but some strains live even longer. All Lorenyan Dragons can fly, most are comfortable both on two legs and four, and the scales of all but one of the smaller strains are bulletproof. Despite their fierce looks, Lorenyan Dragons generally consume less meat (percentagewise) than humans and refuse to eat sentient creatures. The mean IQ is around 120, although the median IQ is a few points lower.
Government:South Lorenya's government resembles the US government, but the executive branch's leader is styled "King", term limits are abolished, and judge terms only last five years. The king is up for election every three years, but Lorenyan Dragons are forgiving and generally choose not to run if the current one has a good history. Therefore, members of the government are often in office for hundreds of years -- our current king, DragonAtma, is currently in his 242nd year in office.
Demographics: A good 95% of South Lorenya is atheist, while most of the rest are agnostic. Approimately 98% of South Lorenyan citizens are Lorenyan Dragons, but citizens of other species have full rights under the law. As of 12/23/2007, South Lorenya has 1.815 citizens billion citizens, "Excellent" civil rights, "Good" economy, "World Benchmark" political freedoms, and is in the UN Category "Liberal Democratic Socialists". South Lorenya is currently the 7-nation region's UN Delegate.
Politics & Culture: South Lorenyans are generally docile and pacifistic. Policegons are rare, crime is even rarer, and the token army is mostly used for ceremonial reasons. Peaceful technology matches that of the most advanced IRL nations, yet a trip from one end to the other will usually pass no gun shops and few medieval weapon shops. The UN usually classifies South Lorenya as a Left-Wing Utopia, but it also spends time in Civil Rights Lovefest, Scandinavian Liberal Paradise, and Liberal Democratic Socialists. Most religions are legal here, but they must pay taxes (like any corporation) and condemn violence and hate speech, whether religious, racist, or other. All students take classes in six subjects: Math, Social Studies, Science, Dragonish, English, and (in high school) Magic. Most citizens only learn minor (and nonviolent) magic, but a billion and a half users of even rudimentary magic can be a serious threat. There are wards all along the borders to detect modern weaponry (guns, bombs, nukes, and chemical and biological weapons) brought into the nation. Slavery is banned.
Architecture: Due to differences between Lorenyan Dragons and humans, there are some noticable differences in architecture. Roads are less common (who drive when you can fly?) and skyscrapers often have doors on every level. Buildings tend to have rooms and corridors larger than human buildings -- while Lorenyan Dragons can learn magic to temporarily change size, having to do so every time you visit a friend half your size can be annoying. Skyscrapers also tend to be more frequent, since if the unimaginable happens (9/11), it's a lot easier to get out to safety.
Double-OOC Notes: Yeah, the descriptions are biased pro-Dragon, but I can't help it. To be fair to other players, don't expect us to join any invasions (a one-on-one would turn out something like the Mhoudia war), but embargos are a distinct possibility. And if anyone is insane enough to invade South Lorenya, keep in mind that a good 20% of our citizens are a match for a modern warplane. Don't you wish you could live in a nation like this? ;)
