Willinkian Military to mount additional pressure during Christmas Season

Salisbury, Willink

The Willinkian Minister of Defense, Charles Humphrey, announced today plans by the Willinkian military to mount additional pressure on the Aurum Domus government during the holiday season. This comes as no surprise following international calls for the islands rightful return from several nations earlier this week, which were fully echoed by Minister Humphrey during the press conference at the Winterton naval air station, jointly operated by Willinkian and Questarian forces.

"We hope the Aurum Domus government recognizes our actions, and additionally the calls from our allies as a sign to come to the negotiating table and return the islands to their rightful owners. " , said the Minister amid supportive jeering from the press. The plan outlined calls for the Willinkian Naval Forces to exercise their sovereign rights to block Aurum Domus' access to the Victoria Channel and it's adjacent air corridor, both claimed by the Willinkian government as rightful property of the Constitutional Federation.

The Islands, located about one thousand kilometers southwest of the nation, have been illegally administered in succession by seven barbaric Aurum Domus administrations.

Recently the Willinkian Naval Forces held military exercises off the islands coasts -under harsh protest from Aurum Domus supporters- as a stern and straightforward political message, while the Government upheld its claims of sovereignty over the disputed islands. Reaction to the calls by the Defense Minister have been overwhelmingly positive, with protesters taking to the streets to demonize Aurum Domus throughout the nation's major cities earlier this week.

The Willinkian Parliament, while out of session, did manage to leave comment as to the calls by the Defense Minister. "We must assert our previously ascertained commitment that Aurum Domus' pretentious claims to the Willinkian Orford islands are totally illegal and unjustified." Said the Speaker of the House Peter Martin in a brief comment to press from his Manor outside of Salisbury this morning. Martin also hinted at the possibility of military action to retake the islands. "Logically, we are leaving all options within the realm of possibility on the table as to dealing with the stubborn Aurum Domus administration on the matter."

Willink, Aurum Domus clash over islands
by Aislinn Yoo

In a dispute that commentators have dubbed "petty" and "telling", Willinkian officials have raised their voices to call for Aurum Domus's return of formerly Willinkian islands that Minister of Defence Charles Humphrey called "illegal".

In a press conference Saturday, the Minister claimed that numerous of Willink's allies had already called for the return of the islands, notably Franberry; his comments made clear that Willink would not hesitate to use all of the diplomatic, economic, and military resources available to it to facilitate a return of the islands and their connecting sea and air corridors.

No official response has been made by the Aurum Domus Government, and spokespeople for the administration declined to comment on the matter; however, it is assumed that Aurum Domus will not easily acquiesce to Minister Humphrey's demands. Political commentators have suggested that, with Aurum Domus loosely tied to the large and widely spread United Federation of Allied Nations but with Willink having close but unofficial relations with many of its former Sovereign League allies, such as Praetonia and Questers, negotiators will find themselves at a diplomatic stalemate. Likewise, popular support in Willink leans heavily towards retaking the islands, while popular support in Aurum Domus is strongly in favour of holding on to them.

Foreign Affairs Minister Katherine Miller stated in a press conference earlier today, "The fact that we're seeing this only now, after years of Aurum Doman control of the islands, is significant." Miller also warned Continentia's governments against letting land disputes spiral into a full-scale war. "New Czardas does not want to see a Continetia torn apart into rival factions like [the former Alliance for the Preservation of Civilisation]."

According to polls, while Czardian citizens of Willinkian or Aurum Doman descent are highly invested in the issue, most others (91%) do not find it particularly relevant. When asked, only 13% of responders believed the situation would definitely spiral into war or a situation otherwise affecting Silanche. 21% believed that a conflict would not concern Silanche or the other Neo-Czardian holdings; 25% believed that no conflict would occur; almost 40% did not know what would happen, or had no opinion.

Government Currently In Negotiation With Willink Over Gart and Statand Island

Government officials in Goldton revealed today that they are currently in negotiation with the Willinkian government in the dispute over Gart and Statand island. The High General had this to say, "It is my belief that this issue can be settled peacefully."

Aurum Doman citizens are in uproar. They see this as blatant imperialism on the part of Willink, though the High General has been known to sympathize with the opinion of his people he has gone against public opinion on several notable occasions such as the abrupt end to the alliance with Doomingsland earlier this year.

Willink Embroiled in Island Dispute

Tensions between Willlink and the nation of Aurum Domus have escalated entering the holiday season, with Continentia observing cautiously as the two nations attempt to resolve disputes over the Orford Islands, which have been Willinkian claimed islands administered "illegally" by Aurum Doman governments for years.

President Beverly announced today in a press conference that he supports the nation of Willink in their claim of the Orford islands "fully and without hesitation." While this announcement of support for Willink was not entirely unexpected, given the Zanziim predisposition for dislike of Aurum Domus, it still served to anger several high ranking members of the Zanziim government who support Aurum Domus.

The Council of Emirs met earlier this afternoon to discuss the situation, and a 4-3 vote in favor of Willinkian control of the islands was announced. It appears that, while a closely contended issue in Zanziik, Willink will have the support of the Zanziim government as their assert their islands' sovereignty.

Willinkian Military Brings Christmas Spirit to Aurum-Domans
22 December, 2007

Earlier this week, the Willinkian Ministry of Defense announced plans to step up pressure on Aurum-Domus, the contested Willinkian Orford Islands being the main focus of attention. The Constitutional Federation announced plans to step up military patrols in the region, and to deny Aurum-Domans access to the Victorian Channel and nearby air corridor. The Willinkian government hopes that, with increased pressure placed upon the Aurum-Domans, their agenda for reacquiring the Orford Islands can be completed shortly into the new year.

In a press conference earlier today, Primary Director Anagrams voiced her support for the move by the Federation, citing that the islands are recognized as the legitimate territory of Willink. Anagrams was quoted as saying that "Our friends in Willink are determined to take back what is rightfully their's, and I can only advise the Aurum-Domans that standing in the way of the Willinkians and their objective would not be a wise move on their part."

Anagrams did say that, should the situation result in military conflict, the Greater Continentian Empire would refrain from direct involvement unless it severely endangered the Constitutional Federation's holdings or stability in the region, in which case the Empire would be spurred to action through the activation of numerous mutual pacts.

If the Empire does involve itself in a military conflict, however, the question remains of what level of involvement Cravan would take part with. Some military analysts seem to suggest that a possible full deployment of four or five naval battle groups could take place to restore stability and reinforce the Constitutional Federation's position.

As the nation that sold those two land masses in the Tyreak Purchase last year we actually have the original rights to it. We sold that land to Arum Domus so the land rights are under their controll.

Willinkian Island Dispute nearing the boiling point.

Tensions continue to arise in the Victorian Channel as the Willinkian Defense MInistry announces it plans to almost totally stop any and all Aurum Doman ships and planes from arriving at the Orford Islands, Islands which the Willinkian Government claims the Aurum Doman Government Illegaly Administered for many years. Aurum Domani officials call this a blatant Imperialism by the Willinkians.

In a Passionate Speech earlier today, Consul Kleinheart voiced his support for the Willinkians and even went as far as to call the Aurum Domans "Poor and Dim Witted fools." among other more callous words. Members of the Reichstag also voiced their opinions, with most of them following the Consul.

As Christmas closes, it looks like there will be more then Fireworks on the Orford Islands. We at the Lucianus Herald will keep you up to date on the conflict as it progresses.

Orford Islands dispute heats up as weather cools down

As the Christmas season gets closer in this hemisphere, Willinkian officials have started getting antsy over the Orford Islands, which several Aurean governments have administrated as extensions of their territory, recently fully incorporating them into their State.
+++Willink has made it clear that they will not tolerate any further delays, and conflict seems fast approaching with the naval blockade of both the islands and the home country of Aureus Domus.
+++Government officials in Jeuna have made it clear that they fully support Willink in this matter. "The Willinkians are the original and rightful owners [of the islands]," said Premier Jin Jiahua. "It only makes sense that their government, not a rogue and irresponsible administration, should administrate them."
+++Other voices, in Parliament and in the voting bloc, have decried the whole affair as unnecessary and foolish. It seems that the opinion is still being shaped, but most would rather leave the islands to home rule. Said PAC chairman Peng Wenlang, of the Freedom League and the group's out-of-Parliament spokesman, "This ... is no more than a couple of nations scrapping over land that is really rather unimportant. Fighting over them only shows the overtly aggressive and manipulative nature of the Willinkians."

Willinkians to Aurum Domans: I'm Dreaming of a Red Christmas

Christmas time. A time of joy, feast, presents, loved ones, and overall good atmosphere throughout the world. It has been this way for the last two thousand some odd years, Christmas was always a good day for every Christian.

Not this year for the people of Aurum Domus. Earlier today, the Willinkian government announced plans to further pressure the Aurum Domans into relinquishing their claims to the hot topic of the Orford Islands, a group of island both claimed by the Williankians the Aurum Domans but administered by only the Aurum Domans. The Aurum Domans illegally stole this set of islands from the Willinkians several years ago, and movements by the Willinkian and other allied governments to return the islands to their rightful owner have failed.

In an earlier conference today in the Rosbaningrad Province, Sultan-Premier George VI stated "the National Constitutional Sultanate will back our comrades in the Willinkian Republic, it is the only option that makes sense." The Sultan-Premier spoke with a strong tone, "the Aurum Domans are the military equivalent to the little child who tries to fit the square peg in the triangle hole. Why does an inferior nation control these islands after all of these years? It makes sense for the Willinkians to finally grow a pair." Later in the conference, George VI stated that the Rosbanis would remain neutral in any conflict between the Aurum Domans and the Willinkians, unless their southeastern neighbors intervened on the Aurum Doman side. "The region is filled with both morons and shady people, and the only way to stop this is to ignore everyone else." The Sultan-Premier also reinforced the fact that the Rosbani Parliament recognizes the Willinkian claim to the islands.

Willinkian Seamen May See Action This Holiday Season
http://www.defense-update.com/images/aircraft_carrier_stennis.jpg

indentAs carolers and secret santas kick into high gear in the next several days, Willinkian officials have demanded the (re)ceding of the Orford Islands, having suffered through seven equally imcompetent Doman regimes over some years now. Naval groups of Willinkian origin have been confirmed completing excersises in the Victoria channel and airspace above it. A war is imminent, and Willink's display of power in the channel leaves analysts to believe the first shots will be fired early in the coming year.

indentAs many other leaders around the region have voiced similar opinions, Lord Consul Gordon Barkove has announced that his administration applauds the Willinkians in reclaiming what's righfully their's. However, he's not prepared to launch the nation into a war which brings no benefit to it rather than seeing a pest removed from the region (which is due to happen in the near future at the hands of Questers and Willink). As he said earlier in a press conference regarding the conflict, "Innocent Alacean blood will not be spent in fullfilling dubious [Willinkian] interests."

indentBarkove did mention that if the dispute escalated into a full scale war, Alacea plans to help like-minded Willink through (at least monetary, if not military) forms of aid in tackling what is being increasingly more regarded as Continentia's least qualified and most parasitic governments from the region.

Aurum Domus National News

"Hello Aurum Domus, I'm Kate Litz and this is ADNN. Breaking news coming to you right now. Officials in Goldton have said that the High General will be addressing the nation later today on the situation developing in Gart and Statand Island."

1 Hour Later

"Citizens of the Armed Republic, I am here today to discuss the ongoing crisis over the owner ship of Gart and Statand Island. Yesterday, negotiations came to a stalemate after the record of the purchase of the islands was retrieved from the Archives and presented to the Willinkian officials. They refused to accept it. We even attempted to negotiate a deal that would give the Willinkians a naval base on Gart so they too could share the strategic position. However, the deal was rejected and after continued negotiations the Willinkians stubbornly refused to accept any sort of deal that wouldn't favor them heavily. Citzens, I do not want a war over this issue. War would be costly to both sides and might not solve the issue. I call on the nations of Continentia and the nations of the world to impose sanctions on the country of Willink. It is the only way we can avoid blood being spilled. Thank you and goodnight."

It is with regret that we see such small differences arise to what looks to be imminent conflict. We shall, however, let it be known that as a fellow member of UFAN, we must give Aurum Domus our full support. To our knowledge, they have shown the appropriate rights to the land, and, in a manner far more tolerant than most, have offered Willink a naval base upon it.

Their refusal to accept this confuses us - we are yet to find substantial evidence of what claim Willink has upon the land.

We will, however, wait and see how this situation plays out - we have no desire to see this escalate to conflict, and this comes despite our previously high-standing regard of Willink. We trust both parties will settle this amicably.

Pearce Cancels Holiday to tend to Aurum-Willink Crisis, Military Demobilization Cancelled

Page 1 New Theeb Echo (World Addition)

President Daniel Pearce today cancelled his Christmas Holiday to Tailville DR, Wagdog and returned to New Theeb in response to what his spokesman said was the "grave Aurum-Willink crisis". Pearce whom is due to land at New Theeb International Airport later today is expected to recall both the Senate and the Supreme High Command from their annual Christmas Break to Emergency Session to debate the issue.

Vice President Dr Perry Cox speaking from the Palace of Peace said that "Vetaka as Co-founding member of the United Federation of Allied Nations had a duty of protection to Aurum Domus however as key members of the Questarian Commonwealth we must work to resolve the situation in a peaceful and diplomatic way so to avoid needless bloodshed especially during this peaceful and happy time of year". When asked what the Vetakan Government would be doing to achieve its goals Cox went on to say "President Pearce intends to hold a Summit within New Theeb between Aurum Domus and Willink on Christmas Day if necessary. We will also be consulting via our Diplomatic Ambassadors with the Governments of Aurum Domus, Willink and other key regional nations so that a lasting peace can be acheived".

Cox whom currently leads the Government concluded his address to the Press by saying "Vetaka will do all it can to achieve peace and has no interest in any conflict especially with Willink however if required as per United Federation obligations the Vetakan Dominion would defend Aurum Domus if required".

As such this paper can confirm that the Government has indeed suspended its planned Military Demobilization a move expected to anger Service Personnel and the widespread Vetakan Public. Speaking this morning from Vetakan Defence Force High Command Supreme Operational Commander Jonathon Stone confirmed that by Presidential Order ratified by the Senate Out of Session Committee the Vetakan Defence Force had effectively suspended its "Strategic Demobilization" pending the outcome of the current crisis. The current crisis comes only hours after the Vetakan Government threatened Military Intervention to rescue the Comanchi Indians of Dark Terran.
