New Mineral Discovered in Turka-Sir

While savage fighting is laying waste to the region, a silver lining can be found, or rather, unearthed.

Soldiers from the 22nd Cataphract Regiment who had finally come out of hiding in their military bomb shelters, discovered a rather peculiar sight. Embedded in a large crater created by a Scandivan air-raid not too long ago was a strange-looking rock. The soldiers initially paid no heed to the bright-pink mineral as they were engaged by hostile Lorotheon forces in the area. As the pitched battle moved on, however, nearby officials were called in to examine the peculiar rocks. Other rocks are being found almost daily, and can be found predominantly in crater holes from earlier bombings.

While the minerals are still being examined in classified areas around the country, one thing is certain: The likes of this mineral has never been seen before. Reports from scientists suggest that the mineral reacts heavily with certain acids and bases, and show qualities similiar to other minerals already discovered, while other qualities are surprisingly... Explosive.

Mixed with a classified compound, it has been discovered that the mineral will react violently with an explosion that will dissipate both the mineral and the compound entirely. It has been reported that an ounce of the mineral, which some scientists are calling Porphoreus Gems, can create an explosion equivilant to that of ten times the amount of C4 explosives.

The government has until now held this new discovery close and top secret. Recent events have made the desperate government, however, unveil this new 'weapon', and claiming that munitions are being made out of Porphoreus Gems.

In other news, scientists in Vojvodina-Nihon have reportedly discovered a rare metal that reacts violently with oxygen, producing an explosion 14,000 times bigger than the explosion of an equivalent weight of mentos placed inside a Coca-Cola bottle. When synthesized with magnesium handwavium trichlorozirconate, however, it forms an alloy so hard that diamond blades barely dent it. It is also capable of superconducting at room temperature, and one kilogram of it weighs significantly less than a kilogram of most other known metals, especially silver and tungsten.

I scoff at this "discovery". Handwavium is by far the superior ore.

Your explosive mineral has thirteen times the explosive power of its equivalent weight in TNT?

Actually, infinite. Since 1kg of it weighs less than 1kg, it cannot have mass.

After laughing a great deal, the scientists explain that the mineral is actually anti-gravity, and therefore can be used as an engine fuel because they can lift it into the air. A graduate student pointed out that if it were indeed anti-gravity and weightless, it would travel at the speed of light as all particles but the photon and graviton have mass and the graviton hasn't been discovered yet; unfortunately, before he could explain further, he was killed, apparently by an object moving at very high speeds.

That's so amazingly amazing I think I'd like to steal it.

All right, but don't think you can just steal it for free. Stealing it costs only slightly less than buying it legitimately, and you have to sign liability release forms.

(OOC: We delight in poking fun at ludicrous claims and blatant violations of the laws of physics (and of common sense), so, we think the general notion of a naturally occurring mineral with ten times the explosive energy of a refined plastic high explosive compound to be quite hilarious as a whole.)
