Political Reformation in Latislavia

Latislavia

In Belrosko, Latislavia, the Emperor Nicolae Kardavska has stepped down and given up his position of power to assume maybe a Head of State role as a new, more republican form of government was established. After three coup attempts on the Imperial administration and one that almost succeeded when the palace was captured, the Senate voted to expel the Emperor from power and establish a better constitution. The citizens had accused the Emperor of putting the needs of the wealthy and those of nobility over those of the population. The Senate and the peoples also called for more industrialization of the nation. The economy had been declining greatly since Kardavska came to power in 1991. Since then, tensions between upper, middle, and lower-class citizens existed, and rioting had occurred often. This year, however, riots escalated to its worse, including destruction of houses, commercial property, chuches, and complete work stoppage. Citizens complained of unfair taxation on the lower-class and that the "outdated" system of feudalism was hurting the people. Deaths from these riots reached up to 25 people, reports say. One of the leaders of this coup, Rein Wilhelms, a former senator, is now the Premier of the newly established Republic, now using a direct democracy approach instead of the semi-oligarchy that existed. Wilhelms said his new policies include better redistributuon of wealth and increasing the power of the Equatorial Atlantic region administration, to help it become more of global force.

It's official. Rein Wilhelms, the leader of one of the more successful coups against the former Imperial Administration, is now the Premier of the newly formed Latislavic Commonwealth. He will be sworn into office tommorow morning and begin rewriting a constitution and appointing new officials to his administration. He has said that he will establish a direct democracy for the people because, "They are the voice, the citizens, and the future of this nation. This is their dominion, not any monarch's."

The Kiravian Empire is interested in what the political views of this new government are, and if they would consider diplomatic ties with the Empire.

The new government first wishes to establish a direct democracy, so as to make the government appealing to the people. The Nationalist Party, the party of Premier Wilhelms, is focused on economics, creating more job opportunities, and closing the once wide gap between the rich and the poor. However, the Premier still has power, in that he can make the laws, veto or recall them, amend the constitution, and other miscellanious duties to be determined by the constitution, which will also be voted on by the new Latislavic Assembly.

To Rein Wilhelms,

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your most recent appointment as the leader of your nation. I am also glad that your transfer was smooth and your previous leader did not need to die. I too have just risen to power as my nations first President. Unfortunately, my post came at a price, the lose of a good friend, His Holiness, Edwardo Listless, the former leader of this nation. He died before he could see his dream of a free and democratic Beatusian Republic. I wish to learn more about your nation, its culture, and your political goals and ideology. I hope that our to nations can become friends. We would be happy to help you improve your struggling economy, all you need do is ask.

Signed,
Jim Lange,
President,

The recent developments in the non-industrialized country that is the Commonwealth of Latislavia have caught our attention, and, to say the least, we will be monitoring this situation.

However, if anything must be said about it, it has to be that the claims of the new Premier Rein Wilhelms, that he will bring "direct democracy" to Latislavia, are completely ridiculous to the greatest degree possible. Real direct democracy can only be brought about by the force of the entire population of Latislavia; and their desire to be in total and absolute control over the social, cultural, economic and political aspects of their lives. It can not be decreed by a Capitalist government.

Sincerely,
The Delegates of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Syndicalist Union of Okanaman Unity (SUOU)

In response to the previous bulletin, hence the reason why Wilhelms has called for a new Constitution, to implement direct democracy, so as to let the future of the nation rest with its populace.

The administration of Her Imperial Majesty Lania I, while regretting the upheaval that such a coup may have brought, applauds Rein Wilhelms for his efforts to implement democratic reforms to his home country of Latislavia. We seek to establish diplomatic relations with the Commonwealth as soon as feasible.

Again, direct democracy can not be decreed by a Capitalist government; that is, it can not be decreed in an announcement, nor can it be decreed in a new constitution.

Even if a country such as the Commonwealth of Latislavia were even able to to that, this would inevitably cause a contradiction to take place. The Capitalist economy that would develop as a result of Latislavia's industrialization, if such industrialization is possible, will have to insist, as a result of its very nature, that such a direct democracy threatens the interests of the country's Capitalist class and will have to be destroyed, because within that direct democracy lies the potential of the destruction of the country's Capitalist class through peaceful means, that is, when the general situation of Latislavia is greatly effected by detrimental developments that are both internal and external; something that can not and will not be tolerated by this class.

Thus, we, at the Department of Foreign Affairs, have to question; what is the real reason why this new Capitalist government is making a promise to the Latislavian populace, that it will bring about "direct democracy"; especially when one has to take into account the reasoning that we have just given?

Sincerely,
The Delegates of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Syndicalist Union of Okanaman Unity (SUOU)

Seeing ourselves as a newly developed nation, we shall just have to see where our decisions lead us, otherwise, what would you propose we do first in order to set up a government system to where the populace is not compromised but there is not total anarchy? We are still all a little disoriented at this juncture, but as soon as Wilhelms is sworn in, mind you he is incredibly popular among the middle and lower-class citizens, which make up at least 99% of our nation, he and the rest of the members of the new Assembly will decide what exactly the best policies would be.

One must also add, are there not contradictions that take place, even in the most "stable" governments everyday? One must take this knowledge into consideration. There are no secret motives to this establishment of government, only to help bring up the economy and help with the needs of the common Latislavic citizens.

First of all, Anarchy is not chaos. Anarchy simply means that there are no rulers; every one is equal; socially, culturally, politically and economically; actually, it has the same meaning as Communism.

And second of all, your response to us has to be answered in this fashion; if your government was really serious about bringing "direct democracy" to the Latislavian people, then it would have begun a transition processs in which it would have given the working class total control over their workplaces, and, would have given every community throughout Latislavia the power to decide their total social, cultural and political development in a anti-authoritarian manner. Such a direct democracy would be nothing more than a direct democracy that is beyond the boundaries of the Capitalist system. But, we know that your government is not serious about bringing "direct democracy" to the Latislavian people, because we do not see these things happening and because your government seems to be quite insistent on transforming Latislavia from being a backward feudal nation to being a industrialized Capitalist nation.

Thus, it is our conclusion that the promise of Latislavian "direct democracy" looks to be nothing more than a false promise that is being used to buy off the working masses of Latislavia, and to make them entirely subservient to the rule of the premier and his government.

Now, do not take this as an insult; we do not wish to insult anyone. We are just shocked and offended that your government is manipulating its own people into believing such a lie, to believe that it would give them this "direct democracy".

Sincerely,
The Delegates of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Syndicalist Union of Okanaman Unity (SUOU)

Maybe I was not clear, when the term direct democracy came to refermce, it really meant to do with voting power , as in voting in elections, on amendments, laws, and more district oriented policies. There would be no representative democracy, the votes would be straight from the people, not an electoral college, to say. We not mad at you and I apprecitate your concern. we will take what you say to heart and use it as suggestions when voting time comes around. In
