(OOC:
Well, Dontgonearthere is now under new management. The player decided to transfer ownership to moi, so I thought I'd pop in to say 'hi'.
So...
Hi.

I've been on NS before, a looooooong time ago, recently I was thinking about joining again, and I couldnt resist the temptation to adopt a 9.5 bil. nation. I dunno if ol' DGNT has any record here, but I'm planning on a post-modern-ish nation based around the technology from Gunbuster, if anybody else happens to have seen it.
So...any advice other than 'read the stickies' is welcomed :D

Two points, that most people seem to forget.

[1] It's just a game. Don't get too upset over it; whether you win or lose in NS has no bearing on your ability to attract the opposite sex, get a better job, or perform better on examinations. You don't get tax breaks for superdreadnoughts.

[2] It's not just a game. Technology aside, strive for realism and good writing; let your citizens behave realistically and your best military units display better tactics and morale than your last-minute reservists. It's okay to get upset if you're glassed.

Balance the two points, and you'll be considered a good RPer. Also search for threads by posters such as Gens Romae, Hataria, Pythogria and the like for examples of what not to do, although since you are a former NSer you may have experience of such things already (roleplaying in '03 was not quite up to par with today's).

Heh, I'll keep that in mind :P
Working on some tl;dr for my intro right now. I probably wont be quite up to the 'every post is a tl;dr' post that seems more common now...back in MY day it was just Klonor and AMF who did that sort of thing :P

Actually another point...stay away from people who "think" one can either "Win" or "Lose"...neither is possible without your consent...its free form.

Welcome(back) I suppose.

I like to think of myself as a person who can take a hit for the good of the RP...'though sometimes I do, I admit, get overpassionate :P
We'll see, though.
