And if you are to use Loreiia then that is all well however I will remind you that when you guys started your war cloaked ships seemed to have slipped past all of my system defenses, planetary defenses, deep space sensors, sensors and every other thing that would guard the chief Forge World from unwanted intrusion. So my nation which has used cloaking tech since it's inception can get through your sensors just as easily. Obviously my cloaked fleets have eluded you so far. Now you gotta admit that.

"One of our scout groups is already stealthed and in long orbit around Aquaria, which gives us some unique options. I will confer with my senior officers aboard my flagship immediately. I will notify you of the plan and when it will commence." He turned and left Germanicus' office.

On Lucianus' order, the 1st and 2nd Imperial Fleets jumped to coordinates provided by the three Pallas stealth cruisers skulking invisible on the outskirts of Aquaria's gravitational field. The slim kilometer-long Neo-Roman pattern cruisers fired a single burst of their fusion drives and began to coast silently and invisibly towards the planet in anticipation of their part in Lucianus' orchestra of combat, leaving no trace but three solitary bursts of heat and neutrinos.

Besides I asked for detail on said systems but none were available on your forums and Tal didn't provide it when I asked although I admit I didn't ask specifically for Niss. And yes I admit you didn't get past without any casualties but those only came when you decloaked. At no time did I have to decloak. Because of the way the Drop Pod is launched they don't use the energy from the ship but rather deploy through their own engines on hatches and would appear as meteors to a passing eye. However I conceded many drop pods would be destroyed in the landing. I could have just been cheap altogether and started virus bombing the world even as the ships were destroyed. It's like launching a fighter/shuttle/escape pod. However I do admit it may create a disruption in the cloaking field that someone looking for it could figure out. You see where I'm coming from?

Firstly, he was in long orbit. That's a fair distance away from being able to deploy troops directly down to the surface.

Secondly, you didn't call him out on it. Admittedly, he shouldn't have done it, but the fact remains he didn't use it in the way you are. At most, they provided jump co-ordinates for a fleet that was going to have to fight in any case. They didn't invisibleattack.

Thirdly, most cloaking technology is rather easy to detect by Loriiean standards, and thus is easy to detect by Taledonian ones. A single gravitic sensors would most likely pick up your shields as a spatial anomaly, at which point it'd be identified as an obviously cloaked ship, and thus fired upon.

However, I think I can solve this without further argument. Let us assume, for the sake of agreement, that your ships managed to bypass strong Republic defenses this once, in return for Neo-Roma's.. erraticism. However, never again, mmkay?

that sounds wholly fair.

Mmkay. Just so we start off making sure we all know what's going on, here's a brief rundown of the defenses of the Republic.

You've already linked to a map of the Republic on the other thread, and, because of that map, you'll know there are fifteen star systems with any significance within the Republic.

Fleets of the Republic (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Republic_Forum/index.php?showtopic=1333).

That's the information on the Republic's star-navy. Using the 1 ship per million citizens standard (meaning our ships tend to be buck-average in power, we have very few ubercapitals), we have 25,000 ships. Presently, 6,500 are attacking you under the command of Germanicus. 500, under the command of Callis Yalltar, one of the present Consuls, is heading back to Taledon, in order to co-ordinate the defense there.

This leaves 18,000 ships in the Republic itself. This, using Republic designation, is thirty-six fleets. Admittedly, nine of those fleets are specialised (three are Praetorial, which means they're designed primarily for fighting pirates, three are Conquistadorial, which means they're equipped to support ground warfare, and three are Expeditionary, which means they're designed to go on long campaigns), and we'll assume they're at Taledon, preparing to enter the campaign.

Because there are only fifteen systems, and twenty-five Defensive Fleets, that means that each system has a minimum of one defensive fleet (though minor systems like Chaonia and Loriiea, or Dracious might have half a fleet). So, at this point in time, four minor systems have two fleets divided between them.

This leaves eleven systems, and twenty-three defensive fleets. Most systems will have one or two, and six systems (non-Taledonian systems that are also major) will probably have two. So there's five systems remaining, and eleven fleets.

Chances are, because of their proximity to Taledon, and thus ease to defend, the four core Taledonian systems will only have five hundred ships apiece. That is, one fleet.

So. Taledon remains, alongside seven defensive fleets. With nine specialised fleets, there are sixteen fleets, or eight thousand ships, sitting in Taledon. Chances are you'd be able to detect large buildups like this, so you can consider general fleets numbers (as in, you'd probably know how many Fleets are in a system due to prior scouting) IC knowledge.

There are also probably sixty to one hundred and twenty thousand ground troops per system, depending on how many are away right now. They're mobile and well-trained Legions, who have artillery, tanks, and fighter support.

So, yeah. This is all established now, so I'm not going to be pulling defensive formations to counter your attacks out of my hat.

If any other Republic players want to RP the forces defending their systems (as is reasonable), they're more than welcome to do so. Just ask me, if I've already begun playing with those forces.
