The Plotadonia Royal Millitary Export Commission would like to announce a new mass-production model destroyer, available for purchase for any country which is tolerant towards Islam, by our fine millitary shipyard, Alvad Steelworks:

Alvad Steelworks Type 885 Destroyer:

General-purpose Destroyer suitable for escort or patrol duties. Magnnetic Railgun can propel 76mm slugs or explosive shells to incredible speeds and be used for bombarding shorelines up to 1200 miles away. Antiaircraft lasers bear incredible percision and speed and coupled with state of the art computer systems bear incredible firepower for a small ship against enemy aircraft. Nuclear reactor and onboard desalinization systems allow ship to stay out at sea for as long as food and supply stores hold out, while flat-paneled angled design reduces radar signature.

This ship is duly capable in traditional combat and in special forces/counterterrorism work, though for the latter the H-type, which replaces the aft railgun with a Helicopter Pad and Hangar, may be more useful.

Specifications

Haul Dimensions: 500 meters x 10 meters x 22 meters below top deck.

Haul Design: Flat-paneled and angled to lower radar signature.

Armament: 2 76mm Railguns (1 Forward, 1 Aft), AA Laser Battery with 16 seperately targeted (Towards Midships) Violet-spectrum HCN-XeF4 lasers, 6 Rapid firing 350mm Torpedo Tubes (3 Portside, 3 Starboard) for Antisubmarine Duties. H Type replaces a 5" Railgun with Aft Helicopter Pad, refueling and rearming facilities.

Radar Systems: Long-Range Jin Jihad Multitargeting Digital Radar for general duties, and Kaisan Mark IV low-frequency radar for detecting stealth aircraft, satelites in orbit, and aircraft at high altitudes.

Sonar Systems: Nesir's Ear passive sonar, great for finding submarines at over-horizon distances.

Powerplant: Nuclear Fission reactor core driving 4 large propeller shafts and powering lasers, magnetic rail-gun, computer systems, and onboard desalinization plant. Reaches max speed around 40 knots, max sustainable speed around 32 knots.

Hovercraft: Cargo Space and Crane for one small (5 x 8) hovercraft, useful for boarding missions, light patrol duties, and landing special forces.

Haul: Constructed mainly out of high strength Steel and Manganese Alloy. Additional titanium and/or uranium protection and carbon heat shields for essential areas also included.

Export, Ammunition and Sales

Cost of One 885E: $60 million
Cost of One 885H: $65 million
Cost of Twelve 885E: $600 million (notice slight discount)
Cost of Twelve 885H: $640 million
Cost of Homeland Reproduction Rights*: $700 billion
15% discount if nation is Islamic!

Homeland Reproduction Rights give a country unlimited capabillity to reproduce the 885 in their nations shipyards for their own fleet, though this does not include the right to reproduce the 885 for export.

Ammunition:

The 76mm Railgun can fire either a shell or a slug. A slug is nothing but a piece of fabricated cobalt morphed in to the shape of a shell. It strikes with gravity and the force exerted on it instead of explosive and can inflict significant damage. It doesn't have the explosive power of a shell, but it is much cheaper. It should not come as a surprise that there is no patent on a slug.

For shells, the right to produce the Ramsdav standard shell and RL-IV laser guided shell are included with the ship.

The 350mm Torpedo Tubes can be armed with any torpedo of that diameter, but we reccomend the Amaarvstad SS-6 Sharkjaw, for superior guidance and explosive power. Homeland Reproduction Rights (just like for the ship) to the Sharkjaw can be purchased for $85 billion.

Note that the Kostemetsian Government's budget is effectively unlimited, as it can just keep printing more notes.

That will be 665 billion. Thank you sir, have fun with your wormhole.

OOC:

Well here's my thoughts:

1. 76mm is a pretty small caliber for modern guns, even if they're rail guns

2. Guns with a 1,200 mile range is a bit extreme, even for rail guns

3. $60 million is an absurdly low price for any large warship, let alone one with so much high tech gear fitted aboard

4. To power a battery of 16 lasers your ship would need to be able to produce absolutely massive amounts of electrical power

ooc: A range of 1200 miles is more than a bit extreme, its absolutely insane.

OOC: I don't kknow for sure, but a rail gun would have a massive range advantage over normal guns, but 1,200 miles is pretty absurd. Of course this all assumes your ship can generate the massive amounts of power needed to power all these lasers and rail guns.

OOC: 1 and 2. I'm actually basing this off of what I found out at a University of Washington open house a few years ago. The UW has been working on a railgun project with a similar range and an incredibly powerful slug shot that's actually only 30mm but has the firepower of a current 8" cannon shell.

Also, 76mm is actually not that small for a current gun, as the current OH Perry Class frigates used by the US Navy carry a 76mm as their largest gun. Haze Gray US Navy Surface Combatants Listing (http://www.hazegray.org/worldnav/)

3. This is a futuristic ship, and as such, I'm assuming prefabrication far more advanced then anything we have now. Think ships coming off an assemlby line like cars.

4. The Nuclear Fisssion Reactor DOES generate absurd quantities of electricity. A single nuclear power plant can charge a medium-sized city.

As you can see, this definitely falls under PMT/FT.

But thank you anyways.

EDIT: Oh, one last thing, I would like to apologize for not denoting this thread as PMT/FT, as I had just starting posting here and, seeing only futuristic threads, assumed that all the technology was futuristic.
