The collective was making inroads into the Sagitarious Dwarf Galaxy. Due to it's proximity to the politically powerful Milky Way, the collective merely colonized unpopulated worlds and opened negotiations with the populated ones.
Such was their intent when the Diamond DC-184032 entered the Guenaria system. It found the system alive with recent warp activity. The vessel opened a standard hail. "We are the Borg. We wish to open negotiations for peaceful co-existance. Please reply."

The Guenarian flagship Ferocity was patrolling the outer reaches of the Guenarian system. Ferocity was a smaller ship than the alien vessel and was shaped to allow it to enter and exit atmospheres similar to Guenaria. The interior of the ship, however, looked like an attempt at looking like the homeworld of Guenaria. Trees grew and streams flowed, but it wasn't real.
The reason of the ships looking like they did on the inside was because the Guenarians are claustrophobic. The shipyards thought that the holograms would make the stay more enjoyable, as did the Navy, since the young were put in service as soon as they completed their education and had reached the age of maturity.
The Guenarians weren't exactly human, either. They wore simple clothes over their fur and helmets that didn't get in the way of their triangular ears. Other than that, they had glowing, cat-like eyes and their faces were devoid of fur. Longer fur grew on their heads as well.
With that out of the way, the day that the Ferocity had seen up to the point of first contact, was very boring. The day started with the usual quarrels between the commander of the ship with the Homeworld Leadership. What they argued over was that it was improper, as well as impractical, that the elected leader of the Guenarians was a starship commander. Needless to say, the argument ended the same way as it did every day. She ended the transmission while the other end was too busy talking to notice.
"Why do you keep doing that?" she asked, looking at the Communications officer.
"They outrank you as the ship's commander," the Communications Officer stated.
"Then I order you in the name of the crown, never open communications with the leadership unless it's a life and death situation. Understood?"
"Yes, Ma'am."
The rest of the day was spent, chasing comets and asteroids and the kind of stuff too boring to get into. Needless to say, making contact with aliens was the high point of the day.
"What is that? Scan the enigma and tell me what it is," the commander said.
"We're getting a communication from the enigma."
"Patch it through," she stated.
What came over the speakers was an eerie voice that sounded like hundreds, if not thousands, of voices talking in unison. This voice said:
"We are the Borg. We wish to open negotiations for peaceful co-existance. Please reply."
"What should we do, ma'am? Prep the torpeados?" asked an officer.
"No, it's obvious that these 'Borg' are far beyond us technologically. Doing so would be suicide and doom us all. Instead, power down our weapons and shielding. Open communications."
The Communications officer gave her a hand gesture that told her that she was speaking to the advanced race.
"I am Guana, Commander of the Guenarian flagship Ferocity. We would be overjoyed if we can work out a harmonious co-existance with you."
She gave the handsignal to the communications officer to end the communication.
"So now what?" asked another of the crew.
"We wait."

the diamond shaped vessel exited the dust cloud that was obscuring it.

The vessel itself was quite small by Borg standards, only containing a crew of several hundred, but the vessel was loaded to the brim with sensor equipment making it a premier science and diplomacy vessel.
When the communication:
"I am Guana, Commander of the Guenarian flagship Ferocity. We would be overjoyed if we can work out a harmonious co-existance with you." came in, The vessel changed course and stopped about 2 kilometers from the Ferocity.
"We will transport a representitive of the collective to your vessel. Please state an acceptible place to meet on your vessel."

"We're getting another communication from the Borg."
"Patch it through."
"We will transport a representitive of the collective to your vessel. Please state an acceptible place to meet on your vessel."
"The Bridge, if at all possible," the commander stated, feeling a little uneasy.

Green energies started swirling within the unshielded bridge as the form of a Borg Queen and a pair of guards materialized. "Greetings, From the borg."
Guenaria

The commander nodded.
"Greetings to you as well," the commander stated, "we call ourselves the Guenarians. The system we're on the edge of is our homesystem. If you'd prefer, we can hold negotiations on Guenaria."

"That will be unnessicary." she gestured to the holograms. "We Borg try to do without the niceities of individual life. It clouds our quest for perfection. We can perform our functions from anywhere. One must adapt or surely perish in the great interstellar space."
Guenaria

She nodded.
"Very well, my people have never had visitors from other planets before, so I am unsure of how to continue."

"Then let's start with an offer. We will offer a long-term trade and economic aid package in exchange for open science access and genetic samples."
Guenaria

"What do you mean by "genetic samples"? If you mean by samples of our blood, that's not a problem," she stated.

"That may work, or we may assimilate a single volenteer of your race into our collective. A convict, a clone... Any such being would be added to our own genetic makeup, bringing us closer to perfection."
Guenaria

"I'll see what I can do. We may have to go to the council to make it all work."

The queen laughed to herself. "Ah the inefficiencies of individualism... no offence of course. To conclude, we offer you a gift."
The diamond shaped vessel started up it's transporters filling an empty cargo hold on the Guenarian ship with several tons of hexagonal crates filled to the brim with diamond chips.
"Our vessel was transporting some... imperfect specimins from a carbon nanotube armor we are constructing for an ally. Your cargo hold is now filled with Diamond chips, to use as you see fit."

The commander nodded respectfully.
"Thank you. I will make sure that the council understands the situation clearly. I will contact you once an agreement has been made."

"Very well, captain." the queen slowly dematerialized and the diamond moved on it's way
