Press conferences basically means speaking to the media and public, it is a good and bad as good conferences could pull a Nation out of tough times and a bad one could do the opposite.

Construction on two new Military Academies has begun today in Devaraja, with one Academy to be focused on land warfare and the other Academy on naval warfare. It is hoped that a new well-educated and well-trained class of officers and generals will go through these Academies and eventually greatly improve the skill of the Devarajan command pool of generals. However students will be taught some of the sciences and humanities along with military tactics and strategy in order that they might be better-rounded commanders. Initially, only 1000 applicants will be accepted to each Academy every year, but it is hoped that eventually this size can increase as the Military grows larger.

A slow mustering of soldiers had began. Elements of the First and Fourth Armies began to report to their home bases and redieved briefings for excercises planned by the government in the southwest of the country. The Generals had been keeping oddly quiet lately, and the only things they said publicly about the excercises was that it was "preparations" for a coming event. New 75mm Artillery and Rifles were rolling off the assembly lines, replacing older models and coming into the hands of eager soldiers. The coming time would be a fine age for Estovakia...a fine age indeed.

Our military minds offer a solution to this problem as well as bolster our military poweress. They believe that the Shogun should use these underemployed souls to aid in building up our navy. However, they suggest a thing most barbaric! They suggest slave labour! I am here to answer these misguided minds and reassure the public, we will not now nor ever revert back to serfdom, indentured servitude nor any other form of slavery. However, we strongly encourage all those desperate for work to help us build up our naval power. The pay will be reasonable and the work will help to protect our nation.

[b]Vetalian Economy Expands 5.3% in 4Q

According to Ministry of Trade figures released at 8:30 today, the Vetalian economy expanded 5.3% in the fourth quarter of 2047*, above expectations of a 5.0% rise. This brings the yearly rate to 4.2%, the best in five years and slightly above expectations of a 4.0% year-over-year increase. Driving this growth are strong increases in productivity and inventories, as well as further improvement in the country's trade deficit.

Investors were particularly heartened by inflation readings, which were in-line with expectations and show that pressures from wage growth and commodity price increases have been generally offset by strong productivity growth. Quarterly PCE inflation came in at 1.3%, bringing the year-over-year growth rate to 3.5%, just below expectations of a 3.6% rise. The Vetalian Stock Exchange closed up 49.55 points to 5048.62, while the Vetalian Industrial Index gained 189.33 points to close at 17,939.65.

Praetor Merinov praised the results, describing them as a clear sign that his spending cuts and tax reform initiatives are successfully driving growth in Vetalia's 250 trillion ruble ($503 trillion) economy.

"Today, the treasury of the ESFSR has opened itself to a price from the Juenskin Air Company to base itself in our great nation. We would like to offer up $250,000,000 to buy the company into Estovakia. We see great potential in their works and are anticipating their response."

Estovakian Weather Service Warning to all North Coast Citizens

We interrupt this program to bring you a special weather announcement. To all Estovakians residing on the North Coast, a hurricane disaster plan is being placed into effect. We recommend that you fortify your dwellings as best as you can to prevent wind/water damage to the property. Military Reserve Units are being called up to assist in the effort, and hurricane shelters are being assembled in the warehouses of Griswall, Talinningrad and Tsarislava to accomodate those who are not safe in their own homes. The Kingdom of Devaraja would like to offer $260,000,000 for the Juenskin Air Company to come to Devaraja. Placing a new bid of $330,000,000, the Estovakian told the JAC that their company would be treated just like the other non-state owned corporations in the Republic such as Furoyan-Romanovski and Avto EVZ, which have just as many freedoms in the Republic as they would have in a capitalist nation. This propaganda being spewed forth by the Westerners is all lies, and we must implore you to choose Estovakia as your home.

Since we both seem to desire the Juenskin Air Company very much and both have very large amounts of cash to be spending, perhaps we could come to an agreement in order to stop inordinate amounts of bidding. We could perhaps have two branches of this company that while located in different countries would work together, with both of our nations enjoying any technological achievements the Company might make. The Devarajan Branch could focus mainly on the airframe seeing as we already have a thriving Chemical company that could help pursue the right materials and the Estovakian Branch could focus on mechanical engineering especially since you already have some expertise in that area. In the end we would get all of the same benefits and perhaps even more than we would have by sole ownership of the company. We could split the bidding price.

It has come to the attention of the Imperial government that the Grethor Railway Company has aspirations to utilize roughly 2.4 million in funding for a transnational railway to ease communication, transportation, and other affairs. The government has looked over the request for funds from the treasury for the project, and upon review, have decided that not only is this idea a positive one, but imperative for the future of the Imperial Federation. Therefore, the treasury shall be awarding not 2.4 million, but 3.1 million in funding for the railway project and future railways to connect the nation and bring about the golden age projected across Grethor. We look forward to the future plans of the Company.
