OOC: How do you propose to make this work fairly?

Well, each team had 850 points to spend on the overall rating for the players on offense and defense. Based on hwat you put, me and Angaor will rate each side of the ball based on the creators choices. Then, we average the team, and decidehow well the team perfroms based on the teams over-all. Alos, obviously someone who had a great Qb and lousy WRs wont have a very good passing game. Its based on your selction, really.

OOC: Actually, great QB play and poor WR play got the New England Patriots to last year's title game. And to the 7th-ranked passing offense in the NFL. QB play has dramatically solved much of Jacksonville's problems this year with the passing game, even with subpar recievers like Matt Jones and Reggie Williams.
If you want, I could help you out with determining winners and losers by stats battles, individual performances (players, not plays, determine games), and random chance happenings (such as injury) that always happen in football games.
You may want to reduce the stats levels to 800 from 850, as well, to incorporate incidents such as rookies, losing players to a salary cap (you can't have ALL great players, even the Patriots have holes...you average over 83 per player with 850 points. 800 will reduce that to around 780, which is more realistic), backups having to enter, player position battles, etc.
The thing about Madden football is that it oversimplifies the game of football so it can be stuck on a video game. It takes into no effect much of the random chance of actual football-motivation factors (Madden's motivation stuff is a joke), personal incidents, rookie emergences, etc. It's fairly easy to assemble an all-star cast in Madden, while in the real world of football, it takes a lot of coaching ability and scouting ability to truly bring up a great cast (Tom Brady, for instance. 6th round pick.)
But do u see what he is saying tho like Colts vs Pats last year Colts won with Peyton Manning and Harrison and Wayne and pats loss with Tom brady and Matt jones and them

OOC: Patriots in the same year, however, took the Broncos (with superior recievers, ie, Javon Walker and Brandan Marshall) and the Bengals (Housh and Ocho...) to the house in the regular season. QB play is so much more...a lot of it is how you run your offense too, such as running game, blocking schemes...

But then again its tom brady he could take the recievers from my last playoff games. and probably avg them about 100 rec yards a game. But i see we you come from with the quarterback but a quarterback is nothing if his reciever can catch the ball. See the Quarterback is a glorious position no doubt it the most glorious on the field but some people think a quarterback threw a prefect pass when infact the reciever is a go getta and went caught. Cause i mean i play Quarterback for my HS football team and people where like aye thats was a nice pass i tell them nah dat wasnt that good it was really my reciever who made that work. and another thing i cant stand is when runningbacks who claim on the glory when its really the linemen or fullback blocking for him

OOC: I play safety, so maybe I have a bit more respect for the QB position. However, a good QB (or a horrid QB) can make/break a team. Check the Jacksonville Jags, the Miami Hurricanes, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Chicago Bears. The Jags have traditionally had bad QB play since Brunell left, as Leftwich was horrible. Garrard takes over, a good young QB, and the team looks good. The Miami Canes and Irish are two college football legacies, yet they both had horrible QB play this year from bad QBs and ended up with bad years. The Bears have Rex Grossman, a miserable QB, and ended up horrible.
Other examples: Bill Belichick was a miserable coach before Tom Brady made him good. He had a losing record (badly) in Cleveland, lasted one day in New York, and had a 3-15 record in New England before Brady became the starter and...history. Boston College this year is also an example: Matt Ryan took over play, played great, and led the team to a three-loss year in an ACC that really was hit or miss. Same thing with Missouri and Chase Daniel, or Kansas and Todd Reesing. QB is the most important position of a team, hands down.
OOC: Yeah aye QB can make or break a team but like if the QB dont have a line he dont have time to make throws or other shit if the line cant hold just like this we had a new line. and im dual threat QB so half the time i was Scambling out of the pocket. But i see where u coming from tho but basically what im saying is that a football team in dependent on each other wether QB or HB or WR somebody on a team relies on another

I understand where both of you are coming from. The team needs all its players. The withoiut the O line, the Qb would have troble. Without a Safety, the CBs could get beat, and pass plays could cause a lot of damage. Its a team effort hands down.
Anyway,Amazon, i really would like to keep the limit at 850, because with 11 players, that seems fair. Also, help on determining winners would be great. Once the season starts, we can all just Telegram eachother, but we'll wait to see what happens from here.

To the Appropriate Official of the International Football League,
I would like for you to know of the interest of myself and several of my associates in creating a team for this league that will be based in the Dominion. I have assembled a most talented group of athletes from around the region that are enthusiastic about football competition.
His Majesty, King William V Salisbury, has vaguely expressed interest in promoting this team. I quote from a recent piece of correspondence with him: “I have always been keenly interested…in extending diplomatic relations through sport.”
After a couple weeks of meetings with athletes and financiers and extensive planning and training, I submit to you our bid for a team. I am aware that the Dominion does not have an extensive tradition of Cripistani rules football, but very similar sports, all known as football, have been played in the Dominion for hundreds of years. It is indeed second only to the equestrian sports in popularity here.
I am not new to your country’s variation of football. Indeed, I have studied it for many years now, and I would be greatly obliged to you if my request is granted. I have appointed as a coach a most capable man, Geraert Slues, who has previous experience in training hockey players. He will be directing the team for at least the next couple of months, although he has expressed to me that he has other obligations that may possibly interfere with coaching operations.
Promoted to the position of Quarterback is the venerable athlete Antoon Kerkrade. Mr. Kerkrade is legendary in this area for his football achievements, and has been instrumental in organizing the sport in this region. I am truly fortunate to have gained him as a player, for his popularity has brought a legion of recruits under my banner. I am currently still deciding on the final cuts for the rest of the team’s players.
The city that this team shall be based in is Taale-Voren. It is a coastal town known for its shipping, and it’s delightful population will certainly flock to the games played by this team with great enthusiasm.
As for the venue of this team, I have acquired rights to host the games at the St. Alfons Hippodrome until a permanent stadium for this team can be built. The field in the center is rather large and the stands have a capacity of only 9,000, although more seats shall be added before games.
I am also submitting enclosed with this letter sketches of the teams proposed uniforms that I have collaborated with an artist to produce.
Finally, seeing as every team I have encountered has some sort of thing that exemplifies their team, it has been decided that our team shall be called the Eagles. We hope that this choice is agreeable to your league.
Thank you for considering my proposal, and know that your league will only grow in prosperity and prestige by granting my team a position within it.
Signed,
Sir Steffen Dordrecht

This morning, Coach Slues posted a list of those who have made the cut, although there was such a fervor among those who did not see their name on the list that he added a special note: “There will probably be additional tryouts occurring during the season. Those who did not make it this time may make it then. Everything all depends on how the season goes.”
