Abstract

Observing the difficultly even close-range ambush fighters had in killing Kraven Capitol Police in Chechnya with even large 7.62x39mm rounds. A new solution had to be devised to eliminate the scourge of the Capitol Police and similar forces for the safety of all peoples. As part of the PROJECT VICEROY specifications the M12 'Venom' is designed for the express purpose of eliminating heavily armored augmented troopers like the Kraven Capitol Police. It is also capable of antimateriel work and can be used against lightly armored vehicles.

Descrpition

The M12 'Venom' is a fusion of two different weapons. The top is the Kinetic Energy portion of the weapon and is a selective fire pistol capable of 2 round bursts, especially useful against heavily armored soldiers like Capitol Police. The round selected for the export version was the 5.7mm SS190, the same round in the FN P90, for its armor penetration capabilities. However, the M12 'Venom' is also available in a variety of calibers, for the internationality of the weapon.

But what makes this weapon unique is mounted beneath the Kinetic Energy portion of the 'Venom'; a smaller barrel, designed for the 15mm Quasi-Gyrojet round. The actual sting of the M12 'Venom', is the 15mm single shot Quasi-Gyrojet, pioneered by Pale Rider Arms.

The Quasi-Gyrojet is a modification of current Gyrojets in production under the classification of PROJECT DEATHWIND and uses a primer to provide a small 'kick' to the Gyrojet and send it flying out of the barrel at a high initial velocity, and simultaneously light the rocket engine and send the 15mm round up to 100m downrange.

When it reaches its target, its contact sensitive charge will set off a toridol shaped high explosive charge, which will create a jet of superheated metal, consisting of the Capitol Police's own Iridian Alloy armor, and of a thin tin layer, moving at hypersonic speeds that will slice through Capitol Police armor, and kill the Trooper behind it.

Construction

The M12 'Venom' is a modern pistol, and uses a short recoil operated, locked breech system with vertically cammed lock. Because of its 2 round burst capabilities, it is a selective fire weapon that allows for semiautomatic, burst and gyrojet.

It is mostly made of polymer with a false wood grip in civilian models and a black plastic in military and police issue.

Actually the Dirnieu-Messier pistol was initially chambered in 5.7x28mm SS190 armor piercing ammunition,we only changed it due to the requests of this trial.We can at any time refit the original barrels/chambers and lower frames to accomodate the 5.7x28mm SS190 AP cartridge.

And our pistol is also select-fire (if requested by the client).

Haven't developed it yet, due to lack of demand.

In the interim, a scaled down HAP-655 called a HAP-625 has been filling the gap as a training/youth firearm with a poor service record, particularily in reliability due to the less than ideal feed system.
(since it originally had the mag in of the trigger a tube allowing the chamber to be behind the mag in order to alow the much longer 6.5x55 rifle cartridge)

The replacement takes the smaller 6.5x25 mag and sets it back in the grip, and thus behid the chamber again allowing a simpler feed mechanism, improving reliability.

Essentailly a PP-2000 or MP-7 PDW (or APS pistol) in 6.5 magnum pistol...
And I've run a quick ballistics check, a 6.5 pistol will do plenty at less than 50 meters. Since technically it started as a small rifle cartridge... (http://www.chuckhawks.com/256Win.htm), supposedly it'll outdo a certain infamous 5.7 mm pistol bullet...

The downside will be that I'll be able to use your ammo quite esily...

That or you use the new swedish PDW and save me a bunch of time and effort developing a service weapon I'll hardly use.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The P270A Diablo Combat Pistol is a short recoil operated, locked breech, semi-automatic magazine fed handgun chambered in a variety of popular hand gun cartridges including 9 mm Parabellum, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 10 mm Auto and .45 ACP. The P270A is fully compatible with both standard and specialised ammunition, including frangible rounds for safe take down of subjects in a pressurised aircraft cabin, and saboted light armour piercing (SLAP) rounds able to defeat US NIJ Level III body armour.

The design is based on a modified Browning-type linkless cam-locked breech action with inline feed. A dual recoil buffer spring is used to decrease felt recoil and increase overall service life. Other features of the P270A include double action-only (DOA) trigger, a slide stop and ambidextrous safety/decocker levers that disconnect the trigger and hammer for “locked and cocked” carry at Condition One. The trigger guard is oversized for use with gloves and has a recurved hook for the index finger.

Construction of the P270A Diablo consists a Zytel polymer frame reinforced with aluminium inserts, integral underbarrel accessory rail, a black oxide carbon steel slide and a chromed steel polygonal rifled barrel. Magazines are made from polymer plastics with stainless steel reinforcement. The overall shape of the P270A Diablo is smoothened and radiused to ensure no risk of snagging on draw. The front and rear sights are removable and mounted on dovetail grooves and include Tritium luminous dots for night shooting.

Standard equipment is a Emerson Optronics MK 1 Multifunction Illuminator attached to the underbarrel accessory rail. This is a powerful solid state Class IIIa visible light laser diode selectable between flashlight mode (95 lumens brightness, range 50 metres) and aiming spot mode (range 30 metres in daylight and 450 metres in low light). A threaded 1.37" x 7.83" combined muzzle compensator and sound suppressor can also be fitted to the handgun to fully eliminate visual and audible signatures.
