Nuclear weapons missing! - Page 2
The parachutists trying to clear the men away while untangking themselves from their parachutes were easy fodder for the men on the roof, and 3 men were left dead. The remaining three managed to break free, notified with a sudden heavy burst of gunfire and the hiss of a missile from the missile launcher, blasting another hole in the roof of the building where some of their assailants had been.
Then they heard just what they hadn't wanted to hear: radio silence across all unencrypted bands. A heavy airship had just entered firing range, and they had only about a minute before the villa was wiped from the face of the earth.
The shout of "RETREAT!" echoed above the explosions and gunfire, with the remaining men running though cover the best they could. The remaints of the fireteam in one of the bushes did their best in holding off the flamthrower man, letting off a heavy hail of rounds from a Minimi as well as their AF-07s, but only 2 managed to run off away from the building towards heavy cover as the other two were ignited and left to run screaming towards the sea, only to be shot down.

Across all bandwidths, the message echoed:
"This is the AAS Luna, aerocruiser of the Alfegos Aeroforce. We wish to hear surrender from the AHC forces in the villa within 30 seconds, or we will completely and utterly destroy you. You will die a worthless death, unable to see the faces of those destroying you, and unable to fight back. A rather un-noble death wouldn't you think?
Of the 192 men, women and children now lying either in the island morgue or in the hospitals, 114 were from Zaheran, your own country. You claim to fight Alfegos, yet you slaughter 7 children of your homeland and leave another 5 fighting for their lives. Do you call that a worthy fight? Killing your own people in pursuit of a mindless goal?
If you answer within 30 seconds after the end of this message, and surrender, allowing the island police to detain you in custody, we will be willing to give you a fair trial under Zaheran law. We all have the same wishes at heart: that for the betterment of our beliefs and our religion. But dying a worthless death and killing your country's own children... does that seem right to you?
AAS Luna, out."
The captain of the airship, ranked a Taskforce commander, turned in his seat to the missile controller behind him.
"We've got the GPS co-ordinates from the police of their whereabouts: get 4 Gher'thora missiles ready to fire on them."
The navigations system controller turned to the captain.
"We've got what appears to be a couple of airships on our RADAR. The IFF reads them as the AAS Osprey and the APV-15. What should we do?"
"Tell them to clear any aeromarines out of the area within 80 metres of the structure, and to shot down or capture escapees. And get the AAS Osprey to get out as well: I don't want to have Æ40 million on my conscience."
The reply was a harsh laughter. "Do you think we fear death, heathen?", a mans voice asked. "We will become martyrs of the Cause, immortal heroes in the Kingdom of Heaven. We don't regret anything; the people we killed today were all heathen, as they lived among you godless Alfegans, enemies of the Cause. The only thing we regret is that we wasn't able to kill more. Our brothers will have to handle that detail. Kill us, but remember that our death will be avenged. Thousands will die for this".
The captain of the AAS Luna listened to the reply in silence. When it had ended, he turned again to his missile system controller.
"Fire at will. I don't care how many missiles you use, just flatten the place."
How could people treat others like this? He hated extremists the most, and knew that these nutcases would have to be stopped, whether it took the airships of the entire nation to burn them out.
____________________________
There were two explosions as panels on the side of the missile gondola were ejected. Out of the two spaces opened came 4 Ger'thora Heavy ASMs, shooting out to the sides before curving in synchrony as they locked onto the GPS co-ordinates.
Each of the large missiles was tipped with an 80kg warhead of H6, enough to sink a cruiser. Definately enough to destroy the building.
A few seconds later, there was the resounding explosion of the 16 missiles exploding as they impacted around the villa and its grounds, throwing up huge clots of soil and rubble as well as producing a massive cloud of ugly black smoke. 320kg of ordinance exploding at once on the target must have killed them all.
______________________________
The remaining 11 aeromarines picked themselves up from behind the cluster of buildings they had sheltered behind. Even from here, they had felt the shockwave pass through them and seen it shatter all the windows in the nearby buildings.
They began to move in on the dust and smoke covered area, to see what had become of the villa and the AHC inhabitants.
The villa was smouldering ruin. The burnt bodies of it's inhabitants was scattered around the area. No survivors. The fanatical soldiers of the Army of the Holy Cross had been granted the death they had wished for. A great many souls had followed them in death. The leadership of the AHC would be pleased.
"All clear. Nothing left except bodies. Leaving civlian police to clean up, over."
The men removed the bodies of their comrades as they finished their sweep of the destroyed area, clambering over rubble and through massive craters.
"All we can do is wait now. When they attack next, we will catch one. What happened to the ones in the city?"

The sergeant's bullets killed one of the men. The other, however, emptied his machine gun into the two running men. The man with the flame-thrower did a banzai charge, trying to light the bushes on fire.
A group of five men armed with submachine guns greeted the remaining parachuters with a hail of fire.

A delegation of military policemen and DSS agents were waiting for the ASoGM submarine to arrive. One captured trawler had already arrived, the crew safely tucked away in a armoured transport, and another had been captured by a Coast Guard patrol.
Heinrich finally arrived at the marina. He looked around to see if anyone had a boat for sale or if there was any ferry trafic on the island.
As the Seal team pulled into the dock and tied up the boat, the team leader met with the delegation of police and agents and said with a smile, "Special delivery, courtesy of the ASoGM. It looks like they dumped everything incriminating overboard, but our E-2 should be able to provide evidence, through radar tracking, that these were the trawlers that were involved in the terrorist activities".

At the marina, an old man was sitting on a lawn chair, shaded by an umbrella. Nearby, there was a run down, but seaworthy boat tied to the dock with a for sale sign on it. The old man, drinking a glass of iced tea, was busy with a Sudoku puzzle.
One of the agents, a man in the thirties with sunglasses and a black suit, smiled cruelly. "Thank you. Don't worry about evidence, these guys will confess. We have our...methods".
He turned to the others. "Get moving. Help our friends here to take the bad guys to the transport. Register all of the prisoners and check them for weapons. Take their belts, too. We don't want them to hang themselves now that we finally have them".
----------
Heinrich walked forth to the old man. "Saw that you had a boat for sale. How much for it?"

The Seal team leader said, "I can't go any further than this. The meter is running on my cab", indicating the sub with a nod. "Good luck though, and if you need the radar recordings on the trawlers later on, let my government know". With that, he extended his hand for a handshake.

The old man said, "Hmm, I don't know. It's got a lot of fond memories for me. For one, my rotten, no good, low life kid was conceived on that boat. Say, $500 cash, and I'll through in a tank of fuel?".
The agent took the offered hand. "A pleasure to meet you, sir".

"It was nice meeting you. Take care". Then the Seal team headed back to the sub. Once the team was on board, the sub set a heading back to the ASoGM. Once it was deep enough, the sub slipped under the surface of the water.

The old man counted the money, then tossed Heinrich a key and the title. "Just keep checking the oil on a regular basis, and she should be good to go for a few years more before she needs an engine rebuild. The tank is already full of fuel, and I left some old fishing equipment in the cabin's starboard storage area. Enjoy". Then the old man stowed his umbrella and chair, and left the dock.
Heinrich entered the boat and started the motor. He steered out the boat from the marina and headed for open sea.

As Heinrich left the island, the sub was waiting for him. Still submerged, the sub captain waited until he got about 2500 yards away, then began shadowing him, with the sonar operators keeping a steady track.
The old man walked into a shack near the marina, and met with a couple of men in suits and sunglasses. They handed him a briefcase, which he opened. Inside was the sum of $50,000 in cash. The old man smiled and said, "Not bad. I just wish I could have gotten a few more dollars outta that feller. I just want to know why you didn't want me to sell the boat to anyone but him?". One of the suited men responded to the old man with, "That's classified. Are you certain that the man won't find the device?". The old man replied, "Not unless he plans to do some swimming. I stuck the dookickey on the the bottom of the outer hull, with the glue you gave me".
OOC: The device on the bottom of the outer boat hull is a GPS tracker, and the glue is extremely strong, waterproof expoxy.
Heinrich enjoyed feeling the wind against his face. He was free, at last, and on his way home. The swines who had kept him prisoner would soon notice that the AHC had a long reach and a merciless mind. Soon, as God's revenge hit them as a hammer, they would crawl at his feet, praying for mercy. Of which they would receive nothing, of course. The true servants of God could not afford to be weak.

As Heinrich's boat and the sub (OOC: SSN Glory) shadowing it approached SSN Allegiance, Allegiance detected both contacts, while Glory detected Allegiance. Allegiance moved out of the way, and prepared to continue past both vessels. Meanwhile, the GPS tracker hidden aboard Heinrich's boat continued to broadcast his location through an encrypted channel. ASoGM Naval Command kept track of this, until they were sure that Heinrich was headed to Zaheran. Naval Command notified the Zaheranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that an AHC terrorist, known only as Heinrich, was headed towards Zaheran, in a similar route as the men from the trawlers. They gave as much information as they had on Heinrich, including where they found him and transcripts of the interrogations. Naval Command also informed the Zaheranians of their plan to let Heinrich unknowingly lead the authorities to the AHC cell he was working with, as well as the encrypted channel for the GPS tracker on the boat.

The man known as Jo'lao Ky'uila, otherwise known as Gho'ta Uli'troa was to begin his trial on the charges of terrorism, theft of government property, and murder. A public defender was assigned to him, and a prosecutor was also chosen. The ASoGM sent a formal request to the Alfegosian government for his files and criminal history, in both names. Depending on how he plead in court (OOC: Innocent or Guilty) the maximum penalty for his crimes would be death, although there was a chance, with Captain Howley's recommendation of clemency, of a sentence of life imprisonment being handed down.

After much discussion, the Zaheranian government approved of the ASoGM plan. The man known as "Heinrich" was identified as Heinrich Müller, alias Jonathan Starker, a known AHC member suspected for at least four murders. On orders from the government, the man was not arrested at once as he entered Zaheranian waters. Instead the submarine HMS Glorious shadowed him, while DSS was tracking his movements. A special anti-terrorist force was assembled.

Instead, they waited until Heinrich's boat was a couple of miles away, then rose to periscope depth and informed Naval Command that Heinrich had crossed into Zaheranian territorial waters. Then Glory turned, dove deeper, and headed back to ASoGM, for a thorough debriefing.
Both the surviving crew member and his lawyer knew he was screwed. However, he still could avoid the death penalty with evidence gathered that could mean the dropping of the murder charge at least.

After court was called to session, the judge asked Jo'lao Ky'uila/Gho'ta Uli'troa how he wished to plead to the charges brought against him.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Prosecution was still waiting for Jo'lao Ky'uila/Gho'ta Uli'troa's file and criminal record from Alfegos.

"I plead guilty to theft of government property, and innocent to terrorism and murder."
The judge responded to the plea with, "Due to the fact that the items stolen were 6 nuclear missiles, and not 6 toilet seats, I'm going to issue the maximum penalty for the charge of theft of government property. You are hear by ordered to serve 10 years in federal prison and pay a fine of $250,000. This sentence will not affect the rest of the case against you. The case against you for the charges of murder and terrorism will begin in one week. If more time is needed, a motion of continuance will need to be filed".
The Ministry of Prosecution received the file. As the head prosecutor was in court at the time, one of the deputy prosecutors opened it to duplicate it for all the staff currently working on the case, and another copy was run off for the public defender. After the files were duplicated, the deputy prosecutor started to read the file. If it was possible, his jaw would have hit the floor. As it was, he stood there with a gaping mouth, incredulous at what he was reading. That was, until he swallowed a fly that had entered his open mouth.
(So that you have an accurate idea of what charges he is facing)

The criminal saw the cheif prosecutor reading what looked suspiciously like a file from the Ministry of Justice. At the bottom were seals not only from the Ministry of Justice but also from the Ministy of Internal Security and the Ministry of Defence. An extradition form was hanging from it.
"Well, thats the case screwed: they sent the files. If I am not killled in this country, then I will be in that one. Hopefully I can do what I did last time in prison..."
He remembered how he had escaped last time from the death row prison, pretending to be one of the multiple reporters who were there to film his execution in the gas chamber, and interview him. It had been so easy, and the best part had been when they almost put the protesting journalist into the chamber that was already being prepared to be filled with N-Ar mix gas. Though he knew since then security had been beefed up.
"How do you reckon they execute you in this country? I think I would prefer the gas chamber to whatever they have here, since the government introduced the nitrogen gassing system."

After the judge had passed sentence on the theft of government property charge, and after the judge set a date for the start of the rest of the criminal trial, the judge dismissed the court for the day. Jo'lao Ky'uila was remanded into police custody, and the prosecutor left to head back to the office. After the prosecutor left the building, he called the office on his cell phone, and let his staff know he was on the way. The deputy prosecutor that he was talking to said, "Hurry up and get here, we've got a file, hot off the presses, and you're going to want to see it".
When the chief prosecutor got back to the office, he looked over the file. His first words upon finishing the file were, "Holy shit! This guy's a monster". He contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relayed the situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs drafted this communication to the nation of Alfegos in response.

Re: the status of Jo'lao Ky'uila
We currently have Jo'lao Ky'uila in custody, and he has plead guilty to a charge of theft of government property. He still has to stand trial on the charges of murder and terrorism. If he is convicted of those crimes, he will be extradited to your nation to face the punishments you noted in his file. If he is found innocent of those 2 remaining charges, he will serve the 10 year sentence he was given here, then we will extradite him to your nation.
Nakón-Hír came into sight as Heinrich steered the boat towards the distant city. Large container ships, oil tankers and other merchant vessels filled the giant harbour, with thousands of cranes unloading or loading them. A Navy corvette passed by him, it's crew ignoring what appeared to be a harmless pleasure craft, one among thousands. Heinrich parked the boat in the guest harbour, paid the fees and walked up the city streets, not noticing the two DSS agents following him. There it was. 114 Harbor Way. Looking around, he quickly tapped the door three times. A few moments later, a man in his thirties opened the door. "I've said a thousand times I don't want your produc..."
He broke off and stared at Heinrich. "J-Jonathan? I thought you were dead. You disappeared after that failed mission and everyone believed you were...".
Heinrich interrupted. "We can't discuss here. Let's go in".
The man nodded and showed Heinrich in, closing the door after him. He was still visibly shocked.
Heinrich looked around. The house looked like one belonging to a rich merchant, with expensive furnishing and valuable paintings hanging on the walls. "A nice little place you have here, Erich", he remarked.
The man smiled. "Part of my disguise. Still, I rather enjoy it. So, tell me, how did you escape the others fate?"
"Excuse me?"
"Haven't you heard? 67 of our brothers were arrested two days ago. Cooperation between our government and some nation called... Gun Manufacturers, I think. Bastards".
"I know of them". Heinrich's voice was full of hatred. "They had me captured for quite a while, but I managed to escape".
"God. Are you sure no one followed you here?"
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"Because I thought I heard someth..."
The room exploded in light as two flash-bangs were thrown in, followed by a SWAT team. The two AHC members were beaten senseless, hand-cuffed and carried out of the house. A black van was waiting. The two men were thrown into the van and driven off for questioning. The secret police were investigating all known associates of Erich Kous and Heinrich Müller. Hopefully, they would be able to give the AHC a fatal blow...

The head prosecutor went over the list of witnesses with his fellow prosecutors. On the list were crew members from the first aircraft carrier on the scene (the admiral in charge of the battlegroup, the XO, the EWs, and the radar techs), the F18 pilots that survived the battle, the crew of the surviving Dove ekranoplan, and some members of the salvage ship's crew (the DSRV crew, some of the deck hands, and the marines that pulled Jo'lao Ky'uila out of the wrecked gondola). The head prosecutor also subpoena'd photos of the airship wreckage, transcripts of Jo'lao Ky'uila's interrogation on the salvage ship, the audio account of the conversation between the carrier and the airship (OOC: Where you threatened to launch the nukes), and gun camera footage from the F18s. All the evidence was duplicated for the defense and sent over.
"You know what? I am not gonna have a chance in hell of getting out of this one. And since I'm in custody without any of my tools, I can't make a runner. End of the road, as they say. You got anything to help?"
"Nothing except this"
He lifted up the crew manifest of the airship, and smiled.
"According to this, you were the ship navigation controller, and not the communications or missile controller, or even the engineers who kindly gave hell to the Zaherans. Therefore, you weren't responsible directly for that: the rest of your crew were. You only were a part of it, so we could try that arguement."
From his cell window Heinrich could see the snow-covered tops of the Cold Sisters glitter in the distance. Not that he cared much.
All the fingers on his left arm were broken, his nails had been removed with pliers, his body were covered with the scars of many a wound, but the worst was to know that they had failed. Totally 736 AHC members had been captured, the guards had told him with cruel smiles, and the hunt was still going on. The once so proud Army of the Holy Cross had been shattered with one fatal blow, and he knew that it was partly his fault.
On the yard outside his cell window, he could see four of his brothers stand against a wall with their heads covered by bags. He heard the officer's shout and the guns being fired. He heard the muffled thud as four bodies hit the ground. Another four brave souls destined for heaven. The truck on the other side of the yard was already filled with bodies. All AHC members had been interrogated, and in the brutal hands of the DSS most had spoken. He himself had spoken. He had betrayed the Cause. The shame was burning inside him. He had tries to take his own life, but the guards had stopped him. He was still to valuable, still had to much information to be allowed to die. He hated his fate. He could not die with honour as his brothers on the trawlers had done, he could not take his life like Kocher and Sohr, he could not even be executed like the men on the yard. His fate was to rot in a prison cell, feeling like a trapped lion, no longer able to do anything but dream of the freedom he once had. Why are you so cruel, Lord of Heaven, he cried out silently, what have I done to be rewarded like this? He received no answer. Outside, another four prisoners were dragged out.
Silence had fallen over Oraz/Neo'ilos, since the mass killings by the AHC. In secret, everyone Alfegan knew what should happen to the AHC on this island and in Alfegos. The death penalty was too easy. They wanted to bring back the old punishments, of torturing them until they begged for death that wouldn't come for another year of constant pain, or being overdosed with the Foresight drug and left as emotionless husks of their former humanity.
Anyone suspected of being in the AHC knew that they would suffer one of the old trial by ordeals, in front of the angry, jeering mob, whipped after the murder of women and children.

The head prosecutor sent a message to the public defender, about Jo'lao Ky'uila cooperating with the prosecution in exchange for a reduced sentence. Namely, the prosecution was looking for Jo'lao Ky'uila to implicate the inside man or woman from the ASoGM military that had helped the AUM breach security and steal the missiles. As part of the deal, Jo'lao Ky'uila would be required to change his plea to guilty to the remaining charges.
"Tell them that I will consider changing my plea to guilty by co-operating to name the ASoGM insider, as well as giving them other information they may find interesting, if they can guarantee that I will not be extradited back to Alfegos upon my release from prison. As they already know, I have 4 death penalties, and when I get back will probably be facing another 4."
(OOC: In Alfegos, they execute the subject painlessly using nitrogen/argon gas, which knocks them out in 15 seconds and kills them in under a minute. However, once an offender racks up over 7 death penalties, he is executed using a much more painful method: in the current run of things, likely to be lethal injection WITHOUT the anaesthetic to kill them. Not a very nice way to go.)

The head prosecutor told the public defender that he would take the offer to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, since they were responsible for prisoner extradition orders.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs told the head prosecutor that, besides the name of the ASoGM conspirator, it would depend on the type of information that Jo'lao Ky'uila had to offer. He said that it would be helpful if Jo'lao Ky'uila had information that the nation of Alfegos would deem useful as well, as Alfegos had expressed interest in Jo'lao Ky'uila being extradited to face his sentence there.
"They want to know what I can tell them? Dear me... tell them that I can give them a list of all the airship trading routes that I know they take, as well as where many AUM safehouses are. I think that will work, no?"
The ASoGM Naval Command sent a message to the Zaheranians, inquiring as to the condition of the "bait", and if he'd proven useful in leading the Zaheranian authorities to other AHC members.
The Zaheranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs replied that the "bait" was still alive and that 736 AHC members had been captured thus far. The authorities believed that the AHC had been seriously damaged, hopefully crippled. The Ministry also thanked the ASoGM for it's cooperation in the matter.

The Head prosecutor told the public defender that the information that Jo'lao Ky'uila alluded to would probably be enough to convince the Minister of Foreign Affairs that extradition wouldn't be in the best interest of the ASoGM. The head prosecutor then put the public defender on hold and called the Minister. After notifying the Minister of the type of information that Jo'lao Ky'uila was willing to give up, the Minister gave the head prosecutor the approval to make the deal. The head prosecutor thanked the Minister, hung up, and took the public defender off hold. He said, "The deal's good. He won't be extradited if he gives us good information, and he'll get clemency during sentencing".
The Minister of Foreign Affairs sent a message to the Alfegosian Ministry for Homeland Security, letting them know that the ASoGM Ministry of Prosecution cut a deal with Jo'lao Ky'uila. In exchange for pleading guilty on the charges of murder and terrorism, and information on the ASoGM conspirator and information on the AUM's operations that Alfegos can use to its advantage. However, assuming the information is good, Jo'lao Ky'uila can't be extradited to Alfegos, and will receive clemency in his sentencing of the other charges he has been accused of.

He arrived and went to the interview room. While he waited for Jo'lao Ky'uila and the public defender, he set up his things, and used the one way glass mirror to straighten his tie.
The AUM man walked into the room, his handcuffs making sure that his hands were fastened securely behind his back. All the time, his eyes darted about, looking for the best possible means of escape if he needed it. He sat down, and smiled at the suited buerocrat he was going to be talking to.
"I won't need my defendant. And the security guards and the people sitting behind the mirror there can leave as well."

"So then, about the information you want. First for your nation: the name of the insider. He was a very devious person, and even wore a balaclava when he met us and let us in. However, it would have helped Liam Ghethson quite a bit if he hadn't have made the error of leaving his name tag on. Rather amusing, I must admit. I guess that a physical description is in order as well: he was average size, average build, light skin, dirty blonde hair, green eyes...looked a bit like a ferret. Ah, and he also went for the "one eyebrow does the job of two" trick.
And now for what Alfegos wants: to stamp out the AUM. I can tell them that they use mainly civilian airships with legit causes, and then smuggle stuff onto them for dropping in the nation, or use them to nick things and hide them: pretty hard a $100 000 worth of items in 7000 tonnes of coffee. But, well, they use all trading routes from 1 to 27, and then from 41 to 65. Those are Alfegos designations of course.
As for safehouses, the insignia they use for them is a graffiti mark on the wall with a palm tree or similar insignia. That marks where you can get refuge as a criminal.
Is that enough for them, you reckon?"

One of the men behind the one way mirror contacted the base commander of Camp Bradley with the information about the alleged conspirator. A search of the base personnel files led to a match of the name and description that Jo'lao Ky'uila gave in the interview. The base commander sent MPs to detain Cpl. Liam Ghethson, but when they arrived at his room, they discovered that he was gone. A search of the base with canines turned up no trace of him. The base commander passed the information to the FBI, who started looking for him immediately.
The lead prosecutor took the recorder, the contract, the pens, and the legal pad and placed them in his briefcase. He said, "That will be all for now. We will contact Alfegos with the information you gave us about the AUM, and we'll let you know. I'll push for a continuance in court, so we can verify the information is good. Once I'm satisfied, you plead guilty in court, I give the judge the contract outlining the deal, and we'll proceed from there". as he was preparing to leave, the guards showed up to take Jo'lao Ky'uila back to his cell.
Once the prosecutor got back to the Ministry of Prosecution, he duplicate the tape twice, sent a copy to the public defender's office, and one copy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They would forward the third copy to the Alfegosian government to act on the information as they saw fit.

Liam Ghethson, a Corporal in the ASoGM military, was now AWOL. He was also very rich, thanks to the deal he made with the AUM. He was sitting on a beach in a non-extradition country, sipping a blended margarita and laughing out loud. His ex wife told him he'd die penniless and alone, and he'd proven her wrong. He considered calling her on his new iPhone, and rubbing his new found wealth in her face, but he decided against it. After all, if she found out how much he was now worth, she'd want more alimony. Maybe he'd have her killed, so he wouldn't have to pay her anymore.

We have acted upon the information, and found it useful. We shall say no more on this matter, unless something more arises.
The ASoGM Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged the message, and congratulated the Alfegosian authorities on their victory over the AUM.
The prosecutor for the case against Jo'lao Ky'uila called the public defender, and notified him that the information about the AUM panned out, and that Cpl. Liam Ghethson was under investigation, although he was missing and presumed AWOL.
The FBI enlisted the aid of the CIA on the investigation into Cpl. Liam Ghethson and, with the help of a federal warrant, searched his phone and bank records. There were a couple of suspicious calls to a number in Alfegos that lasted over an hour each. Suspicious because Cpl. Ghethson didn't have any relatives in Alfegos. The FBI forwarded the number to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who forwarded the number to the authorities in Alfegos. Also, in Cpl. Ghethson's bank records, there was a cash deposit in the amount of $50,000, which was almost immediately transferred to an offshore bank account. The FBI put out an APB for Cpl. Ghethson, and started checking security logs for all of the ASoGM's international airports, docks, marinas, train stations, and car rental businesses. The CIA meanwhile, started contacting whatever covert contacts they had, in an attempt to determine if Cpl. Ghethson had already left the ASoGM, and where he could have gone.
Captain Cabunt followed the Lieutenant to the car, and placed his small suitcase in the trunk. Then he got in the back seat. Do you remember when you told me that we could not stop you? Do you remember when you told the helicopter crew that the ASoGM would soon be liberated by God's true soldiers?"
"I should have known that it was a trap", Heinrich said slowly. "True believers in a country of heathens and heretics? I was blind. Still, do not think that you will be safe in the future. We have suffered defeats before. We have been seriously harmed, I can give you that, but we are not crushed. New brothers will come, and they will avenge our deaths. You will die one day, captain, and you will suffer for your betrayal in Hell. At least that can give me comfort. I will die as a martyr, you as a traitor and heathen".

"In accordance with a deal struck with prosecution, he has pleaded guilty to all the crimes brought to him. As a result, he was promised reduced sentencing and the deal not to be extradited back to Alfegos."
The judge turned to the prosecutor and said, "Do you have the contract?". The prosecutor gave the contract to the bailiff, who gave it to the judge. The judge flipped through it to make sure everywhere that needed to be signed was signed, and said, "I assume the information that was given by Jo'lao Ky'uila has proven accurate?", to which the prosecutor replied with, "Yes, your honor". The judge looked back at the contract and said, "This court is in recess for one hour, while I read the contract and verify its legality".
When court resumed an hour later, the judge said, "The contract looks good. I'm ready to pass my sentence, in accordance with the plea deal that was agreed to. Jo'lao Ky'uila, since you have plead guilty to the charges of murder and terrorism, you are hear by sentenced to serve no less than 35 years for each charge in a Security Housing Unit facility (OOC: a Supermax prison). In total, for the three charges you have plead guilty to, you will serve 80 years in this prison. At such time as your sentence is completed, you will be freed in accordance with the laws governing ASoGM correctional facilities. If there is no further discussion, this court is adjourned".
"80 years? That shouldn't be too much difficulty."
The Alfegan let himself be escorted away: within 6 months, he knew he would be back on the streets.

"80 years? That shouldn't be too much difficulty."
The Alfegan let himself be escorted away: within 6 months, he knew he would be back on the streets.
The bailiff brought Jo'lao Ky'uila into the back, where he was processed, and readied for his trip to the Security Housing Unit facility. He was searched, made to change into an orange jumpsuit, and had his legs and arms chained. He was put into the back of an armored van, which had all the back windows blacked out. They drove for 3 hours, until they reached the facility. When the back doors opened, they were underground. They passed through several security doors, until they finally got to Jo'lao Ky'uila's cell. The cell was plain, with a cot, toilet, shower, desk, and computer. The guards explained that the computer was not hooked up to the internet, but it was there in case he wanted to take a course from the prison's library. The guards pushed Jo'lao Ky'uila into the cell, closed the heavy steel door, and left.
Jo'lao viewed his cell with distaste, already working out ways of escaping. Rather easy, if he could get an idea of what the complex looked like.
For now, he stretched out on his bed and switched off the lights. With any luck, he would start having hallucinations within a day or so of this, and would stop being so bored then.

Prison background: The Security Housing Unit facility that Jo'lao is at is an underground super maximum security prison. Every door in a zone is controlled from a security station located in that zone, in addition to biometric fingerprint readers on the door. There is no yard time, as there is no prison yard. Any exercising that a prisoner wishes to do is done at a set time each day and alone, under the supervision of guards, and the only contact the prisoners have is with the guards. Meals are given to the prisoners through a slot in the door, and an inventory of all meal related utensils are taken after the meal is done. There is a tear gas system located in each zone's security station, that the guards can activate in case an inmate or inmates attempt an escape or riot.

IC: "Of course I'll die one day. I'm not immortal", Captain Cabunt said with a laugh. "And I'm no traitor either. I serve my country with honor and integrity. I serve my faith the same way. I'm just not a deluded fanatic like you are".

Another harsh laughter. "You heathen". He shook his head. "Always the same arrogance. We will see who's right, captain. We will see..."
Ideas flickered through the mind of the Jo'lao as he sat in the dark of his cell. He was in an area that was secure, and would need to get to the surface if he was to escape. He had an idea that would work.
He would have to wait until his next meal before that plan would come into action.

He would have to wait until his next meal before that plan would come into action.
At meal time, the panel covering the slot in the cell door was slid back, and a tray with some food on it was passed through. A cup of water and 2 vitamins were also included in the meal. After the food, drink, and vitamins were passed into the cell, the guard told Jo'lao he had 15 minutes to eat, then he was to pass the tray back. Then the panel was slid closed.

"As you wish, sir". He locked the door behind them. "Anything else you wanted to see, captain?"
Instead of eating, Jo'lao began to work at his wrists with the knife. Though it was plastic, it was enough to start causing some damage. And let out enough blood to get him to some sort of medical station.
Within 10 minutes, blood began to trickle from his wrist. He was unable to start on the other, as his hand fell limp at his side. Some damage to the tendons in his unused hand, at least. The dark blood from the veins that began to well up was smeared by his working hand around the cell, especially by the door hatch. He worked to make sure that the blood wouldn't clot, pouring out as much as possible onto the ground around him, before he lay down as he heard the guard coming back to collect his tray.

When the 15 minutes were up, the guard came back. He opened the slot and demanded the tray and utensils. When the tray and utensils didn't appear, he looked through the slot, and saw Jo'lao's wrist cut, and Jo'lao on the ground. He radioed for a medical team, and requested that the security station open the door. He rushed in and attempted to stop the bleeding to Jo'lao's wrist. The security team issued a code 1 alert, and every guard in the zone converged on the cell.

"I was wondering if there was a chance that after I retrieve my things, I could have a meeting arranged with your Foreign Affairs office. I also need to call home to check on a matter I may need to participate in", the Captain replied.
Jo'lao lay there, his conciousness slipping away through blood loss. He knew though that, even naturally, he would not die of cutting his wrists: just pass out. But the medics would probably not know that, and take him somewhere less secure to try and patch him up. He would at least have to go to a civilian hospital to get the tendons in his arm repaired.

OOC: The prison has its own facilities for doing stuff like this, as it's a super maximum security prison, and this wouldn't be the first time this happened.
IC: All of the guards in the zone arrived, as well as the medical team. They hauled him onto the stretcher, restrained him, and brought him to the infirmary. A doctor was called, and shortly they had Jo'lao in surgery. The surgery went as expected, and they put Jo'lao's wrist in a brace so he couldn't flex it and tear the stitches. They also put him on suicide watch, and scheduled a counselor to talk to him when he was able. Jo'lao was placed, still restrained in the gurney, in recovery while a doctor and 4 guards waited for him to wake up.

After his call, he turned to Lieutenant Haker and said, "I'm all set".

Meanwhile, the bureaucratic wheels of the Zaheranian administration was moving. Dozens of bureacrauts filled in forms, had pointless meetings and called hundreds of phone calls. At last it was decided to hand the AHC prisoner over to the ASoGM. Seven hours after the meeting with the official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the captain's phone rang.

The Captain arrived at the Ministry as soon as he could. From there, he used the secure phone to call Naval Command and arrange for the C-130 to be modified with a cell, he arranged for a dozen F-22 Raptors to loiter in international airspace so they could escort the C-130 home, and he arranged for the refueling aircraft to be along the route the air convoy would be traveling. Naval Command informed the Captain that the C-130 would be in the air the next day. Naval command also deployed a battlegroup to the halfway point between Zaheran and the ASoGM, in case there was more trouble than the F-22s could handle.

OOC: Basically the thread boils down to this: The AUM (an international criminal organization) snuck into my country with an airship, a plan to steal 6 nuclear tomahawk missiles, and the help of an insider (Cpl. Ghethson). After they paid Cpl. Ghethson, he took off with his money. The AUM was discovered leaving with the missiles, the AHC (a religious terrorist organization) attacked the AUM with the intent of stealing the missiles for their own use. Both the AUM and AHC were stopped, the nuclear missiles have been recovered by ASoGM forces, and the thread has been dealing with the fallout. The ASoGM FBI and CIA are attempting to locate the conspitator, Cpl. Ghethson for prosecution, and I need someone not already involved to play the part of the non extradition nation that he's hiding in.
Cpl. Guethson was laughing as he had just escaped the law. He was now rich, and had a extravagant lifestyle in Woodsfield, the holiday resort island. He had taken over the AUM branch in Rastier, and was planning something similar in Rastier as he had failed in getting the ASoGM nukes. Unknown to him, he was watched by agents from the Rastian Intellegience Agency, believing that he was a spy, as no one in Woodsfield was as rich as he was, and recent trends in spy cases have shown that the spies come loaded with cash, claim to have made money overseas and stated that they are just holidaying in Rastier, things that Guethson had unknowingly stated. What he said that alarmed everyone, however, was that he was involved in the recent theft of the nuclear weapons in the ASoGM, and he foolishly said this to his equally drunk criminals in the AUM, during a party at his mansion, that was caught on voice recorders and surveillance cameras strategically positioned at the mansion by the RIA.

OOC: It's Ghethson, not Guethson. :)
IC: The CIA spotted some activity with the offshore bank account that Cpl. Ghethson had transferred the $50,000 to. They began tracking the transaction, and followed it to Woodsfield, a holiday resort island. The CIA operatives assigned to the case informed the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Naval Command, and the FBI. Planning was started to get Cpl. Ghethson back to the ASoGM somehow, either through diplomatic means or more aggressive tactics.
OOC: Now how could I have missed that?? Lol...
IC: Ghethson was planning a bank robbery, to get more funds. The AUH in Rastier was a sleepy branch, and he had plans to get it going. The next month, 5 heavily armed robbers entered the Bank of Rastier in Woodsfield, and the leader fired 2 shots at the surprised security guard, seriously wounding him, and shouted at the bank tellers, "FILL THE BAG!!" and threw a black trash bag at them. Luckily, the manager was having his coffee break in the staff lounge, and phoned the police and called for an ambulance in there when he heard the commotion. Unfortunately, the police came just seconds after the robbers escaped, with 1,000,000 in Rastian Dollars.

The CIA operatives attempting to track down Cpl. Ghethson heard the report, and attached the story to their files, since it was possible that the 2 events were related. They would continue to monitor the bank account to see if any large sums of money entered in the next few days.

Agents from the RIA were following Ghethson, and correctly deduced that he was not a spy, but was the "mysterious leader" of the AUH. Ghethson had ordered a meeting of all AUH underbosses in Rastier at a safehouse, and the agents tailing him were alarmed to see so many wanted criminals. Ghethson was too overconfident, and did not even bother to check if anyone was following him. As such, the agents went directly to the Home Affairs Ministry and informed them on the matter, so they could inform the ASoGM that Ghethson was in Woodsfield.

Dear Sir,
We would like to inform you that Cpl. Ghethson, the main suspect of the nuclear weapon theft, in residing in Woodsfield, Rastier. We request that you send two investigators over to Woodsfield, and send us evidence of the case against him as we are powerless to arrest him until we have some evidence.
Thank you
Minister of Home Affairs, Rastier
Robin Stevens
OOC: Actually, you wouldn't know that Ghethson was a suspect of anything in the ASoGM, as sealed court documents led to his implication.
Heinrich woke up as two guards walked into his cell. Without a word they tied his hands behind his back and covered his head with a sack. He was led out to a waiting car and transported to a military airbase in the northern part of the country. Here he was placed in a small cell and given some food and water. All the day he could hear airplanses land and take off. He guessed that something was going on, but didn't know what. Whatever it was, it was something big...

The modified C-130 was ready, and took off for Zaheran. The F-22s took off when the C-130 reached the halfway point. The refueling aircraft were already in place, and the battlegroup would be at the halfway point soon. Hours later, the C-130 pilot got on the radio to the Zaheranians, letting them know they were approaching Zaheran airspace, and requested permission to enter so they could land and pick up a priority package.

The CIA was still waiting for account activity on Ghethson's account, but decided that it might be wise to get some agents into position in Woodsfield. Experts put together all the agents travel documents, and the forgeries were perfect. They would appear to be coming to Woodsfield from Alfegos, and would be going in unarmed. Once there, they would pick up their new identities and their equipment, which consisted of the most modern surveillance equipment available to the ASoGM CIA. Once they had everything they needed, they would shed the identities they had used to get into Woodsfield. The agents had orders to get intel on Ghethson, and if they could, grab him without being discovered. If successful in the apprehension, a sub would be waiting for them for pickup.

Permission was quickly granted and a group of JAS 39s took off to escort the transport plane to the airport. In his cell, Heinrich was given a last meal and once again had a sack thrown over his head. The guards led him out to the airport.

As the F-22 Raptors lined up for mid air refueling, the C-130 lined up the runway for landing. The C-130 touched down in textbook fashion, and once the plane came to a stop, the crew exited. Besides the normal C-130 crew, there was also a doctor and 4 armed guards on board that would accompany the prisoner back to the ASoGM. Captain Cabunt also would fly home with Heinrich.
Rastian police sent 2 crack hostage rescue teams to the safehouse, to arrest everyone present there. They were counting on evidence by the agents, who claimed that they saw many dangerous AUH underbosses there. The 2 teams
piled into 2 seperate vans, and the RIA agents accompanied by detectives got into 2 unmarked cars. They were to lead the way there and identify Ghethson. The convoy then drove off to the safehouse.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few minutes later, Ghethson was begining to touch on the subject on the nuclear weapon theft, when a gun smashed a window of the house and someone threw a flashbang in. A loud "BOOM" was heard, then the front door breaking, followed by the back door. The hostage rescue teams, coming in from both doors, swiftly arrested everyone. "Terror" Rupert, the dangerous underboss that had escaped from prison, was heard cursing Ghethson for being the leader of the AUH in Rastier and that it was his fault that he was caught again.

The agents arrived in Woodsfield, and went to their hotel. It was the cheapest adjoining rooms they could get. Then they picked up their equipment, which had been sent via postal service to the hotel. They shed their entrance identities, set up their equipment, and started discretely searching for Ghethson.
Meanwhile, a sub began the painstakingly slow process of maneuvering to Woodsfield. It sat in international waters, awaiting a signal from the CIA agents.

One of the C-130's crew called Captain Cabunt on a satellite phone, letting him know they had arrived. Captain Cabunt then headed to the airport. The pilot, with a sarcastic smile on his face, said "Thanks. He's got a seat in first class waiting for him. Caviar, champagne, and a backrub come complimentary with the ticket". The doctor stepped forward and injected Heinrich with a fast acting sedative, while one of the guards cuffed Heinrich's feet and wrists. Then 2 of the other guards dragged Heinrich into the C-130 and locked him in the cell. The pilot snapped a smart salute to the guards and said, "It's been fun". Then the crew re-entered the plane. Shortly after, Captain Cabunt arrived at the airport, and the plane took off.
During the interrogation session, Ghethson refused to cooperate with the police. Nonetheless, the intellegience agents were key witnesses, and were enough to pursue a trial. In addition, some underbosses were keen to testify against Ghethson in court, and cooperated with the police, having been promised a lenient sentence.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the trial, Ghethson was relieved that his careless mention of "having sommthing to do with the recent theft of the nuclear weapons in the ASoGM" was not mentioned. It was dismissed as "what drunks say". He was, however, sentenced to life in prison on the charge of bank robbery, conspiracy and attempted murder, after underbosses spoke of the bank robbery.
"Deary dear: it seems that the Rastier branch got itself into quite a bit of a mess..."
"Yes, Fego'fai."
The aide stood by the heavy mahogany door in the back of the room, facing towards the back wall where the head of the AUM sat. The brown chair back gave no view of the Fego'fai as he looked out of the glass wall across the bay of Il'vi, sun glittering on the clear waters and illuminating the hundreds of tropical trees around this hillside villa.
"I believe that he broke at least 4 parts of the AUM code. Poor organisation, Failure to contact us about his operations, Failure to send back the results of his hauls and Failure to ask for permission to carry out an operation. He is in jail now, I believe."
"Indeed, Fego'fai."
"Send one of my daughters to take charge there. I'm sure you can prepare a suitable method of redemption for Ghethson."
"Yes Fego'fai."
"You may leave now."
As the aide walked from the thickly decorated office, he turned back around to face his desk, the windows darkening as he turned back around, cutting the rays of the sun down to a faint whisper. On his desk, a large flatscreen displayed many different things, with links to some things only he knew. He was the original founder of the AUM, 65 years ago. He was late into his middle ages now, but was still as fit as ever. Still alive after hundreds of attempts on his life, mainly thanks to the security of this place and for his 9 adopted daughters, the eldest of whom would take over on his death and keep the operation running smoothly for all.

Then, they shed their entrance identities, scattered, and separately booked commercial flights out of Woodsfield on different airlines and different days. The equipment was left, as it would be more difficult to get it back without discovery.
The CIA got the Ministry of Foreign Affairs diplomatically involved, and the Ministry drafted a message to the Rastierians.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Matthew Lansky, had received the ASoGM report on Ghethson. He immediately organised a meeting with the President and ordered a state car to drive to the Presidential residence, to speak with President Warren Smith.

"Send a reply. Tell them that nothing is settled unless someone comes here to discuss matters. Move Ghethson now, to the capital. It will be easier for negotiations."
"Yes sir."

Just a few moments later, Ghethson was dragged out of his cell, blindfolded and handcuffed. He was to travel by helicopter to the airport, where a modified Shorts 360 would take him to New Rastia, the capital. He was then bundled into the helicopter, and it began the short 10 minutes hop to the airport
"Look's like he's off somewhere! Shoot him outta that helicopter."
The sniper looked through the scope of his rifle, adjusting for the drop and the easterly wind. The helicopter was just taking off, and from here he could see Ghethson through his scope. His finger tightened, before squeezing gently on the trigger. The rifle coughed as a 10.4mm round was fired, muffled by the large unit on the end to barely a whisper. He looked back through the scope to see what had become of Ghethson.

Due to heavy bulletproofing of the windows, the bullet lodged into it, centimetres away from Ghethson. Policemen in the helicopter had a rude shock, and ordered the equally shocked pilot to run at full speed to the nearest airport. Ghethson said nothing, knowing that the AUH was after him now. The pilot radioed back to the prison and described the incident, telling them to do a complete lockdown and scan the area for a possible gunman. He sighed, thankful of the money and effort put in to figure out a way to bulletproof the helicopter.

The first thought that came into Jo'lao's mind. Looked like this place was more secure than expected. Next time, he would have to think a bit better than that old one...
The nurse noticed that Jo'lao had waken, and notified one of the doctors over the phone. Jo'lao was restrained, but the wrist restraints weren't on, due to Jo'lao's injury. Instead, the restraints were up higher, close to the elbows. There was one guard in the room with them. The nurse turned to Jo'lao and said, "A doctor will be around later to check on you. Are you hungry?".
The sniper quickly packed up his rifle, before disappearing off into the rest of the city, blending in amongst the crowd.
In her car driving away from the prison, the women phoned back to the headquarters building.
"He's off to the airport - we want to get him and either kill him or catch him. I don't care which. But once he's outta the country, he's out. I only want him. Try not to kill the guards, but do it if you absolutely must."

In the back, 8 men were crammed in alongside boxes of ammunition and weapons. All were just hired hands, not actual members but thugs just paid to do their work. All were armed with customised weapons: mainly an array of machinepistols and SMGs, with the occasional AF-07 assualt rifle sporting a grenade launcher and LASER sights. All were wearing balaclavas with sunglasses, and black clothing, with black webbing holding equipment, extra ammo and knives.
The plan was to use the cover of two breaching charges rigged up to the fench to rush in, shoot the guards, cover their retreat with the target or his body, and then drive off to the cover of a nearby multi-story carpark. There, they would ditch the landrover along with an HMX IED to get rid of evidence, and use the sewers to disappear off into the city. If they did n't get the to car park and were caught, they could detonate the IED while driving and completely destroy themselves and remove as much evidence as possible. To confuse the police as much as possible, they would split up into pairs, with the exeption of three with the mark, and eventually meet up in a condemned warehouse, where three seperate vehicles would be waiting to take them away back to the nearest safehouse and a large drum of diesel would be waiting to burn their clothing.
Would the police be able to foil this?

"I can't loosen the straps yet, but I'll call to get you something to eat", the nurse said. She picked up the phone again and called the mess hall to get something sent over. When the tray arrived, it had a sandwich, a 12 ounce lexan cup of water, and some thin cookies. There were no utensils of any kind on the tray though, as they were not needed. The guard that brought the tray of food stayed, and the nurse said, "Now I can loosen the straps a bit".
He began sipping from the glass, checking if his wrist still worked. Just, though he had trouble grasping onto anything. It might just be possible with his left hand...
He picked up the glass and began drinking, before dropping it.
As it smashed on the floor, he used the distraction to check if it was possible to take his arms out of the straps. Now they were a bit looser, it might be possible. Though he would have to wait until the guard was at his msot unattentitive. Then, he would strike out at the nurse, pretty though she was, smack the guard as he came over and then writh out of the straps and escape with the guard's weaponry. If his wrist could hold a pistol, which might be difficult.

OOC: The cup is lexan, it wouldn't have smashed when it hit the ground. It would have spilled, though.
IC: The nurse grabbed some paper towels and started to mop up the spilled water. One of the guards went with the nurse and stood next to her while she cleaned the water up. The second guard (OOC: the one that brought the food from the mess hall) rested his hands on the holsters that contained his only weapons, a Taser X26 and a Kimber JPX Jet Protector (ooc: pistol shaped OC pepper spray dispenser with 2 barrels). The guard was ready to use both non-lethal weapons if Jo'lao got out of hand.

We agree and will be expecting your arrival. Please leave immediately as the police tell me that assassins are trying to kill him. We are doing our best to foil all attempts.
Thank you,
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rastier
Matthew Lansky
The sniper quickly packed up his rifle, before disappearing off into the rest of the city, blending in amongst the crowd.
In her car driving away from the prison, the women phoned back to the headquarters building.
"He's off to the airport - we want to get him and either kill him or catch him. I don't care which. But once he's outta the country, he's out. I only want him. Try not to kill the guards, but do it if you absolutely must."

Two operatives sat in the front of a landrover, the larger tapping his fingers on the steering wheel and looking through the chainlink fence at the helicopter landing zone.
OOC: You wouldn't know which airport the helicopter landed, as the policemen ordered the pilot to fly to another (secure) airport.
IC: The helicopter touched down safely at the Woodsfield Air Force Base, instead of the international airport, where a modified Boeing C-40 would fly Ghethson to New Rastia. The change of aircraft was swift, and Ghethson was soon on his way. Meanwhile, the bulletproof glass from the helicopter was being removed for examination in the police laboratory.
_________________________________________________________________
The police had a hunch assasins would be near the international airport, so they sent extra policemen to patrol the areas near the helicopter terminal, landing zones and carparks.

The 2 ASoGM Ministers packed bags containing a change of clothes, toiletries, 2 secure satellite phones, and their work laptops. When they were ready, they went to the airport and boarded a commercial flight to Rastier. Hours later, they arrived and deboarded the plane. Minister Laurence looked around the gate to see if anyone was waiting for them, while Minister Smithfield looked around for a beverage vending machine.

OOC: I assume that they had bodyguards with them
One of Minister of Foreign Affairs Matthew Lansky's bodyguards had arrived at the airport and was looking at photographs of the ministers to identify them. As it was crowded, finding them proved to be difficult and he gave up for a while, then decided to buy a drink at the vending machine when he found Minister Smithfield and his bodyguard, who lead him to Minister Laurence with the other bodyguards.
The bodyguard shook hands with each minister and said, "Welcome to Rastier, Ministers. Please come this way to the car."
A gleaming new BMW 750Li was waiting for them, complete with police escort. They got into the car, and it drove off to Minister Lansky's house, where the minister was waiting to take them to Ghethson, who was safely in the New Rastia Maximum Security Prison.
Two JAS-39s followed the transport plane to international airspace. Seeing no danger, they then turned and headed back to the base.

As the C-130 slipped into international airspace, the F-22 Raptors prepared to enter formation. The F-22s had been refueled just before the C-130 took off, so they had enough fuel to make it to the next refueling point. Alert fighters were readied on the carrier, in case the Air Force fly-boys needed assistance. Also, an E-2 Hawkeye was launched for early warning and C3 duties.

Minister Matthew Lansky was awaiting them at his house. When he saw the BMW pull in, he went out to the porch to greet the ministers.
"Greetings. Welcome to Rastier. Are you in a hurry to see Ghethson, or would you like a rest first? If you want, you can come in for tea."

"We have some time, I think", Minister Laurence replied. "Ghethson will just have to wait for us", Minister Smithfield added.
"Very well then, come in and make yourselves at home", replied Minister Lansky. "Before I forget, the President would want to see you tomorrow. I do hope we can settle Ghethson. With luck, you'll be able to bring him back with you. We'll talk more in the house."

"Thank you, Minister Lansky. I hope we can as well, as Ghethson is quite the embarrassment to the ASoGM", Minister Smithfield replied, as the group went inside.
"Welcome to my house", said Minister Lansky as he led them in. "Coffee or tea, anyone? Oh, and have a seat, anywhere."

"As you wish",replied Minister Lansky. "The butler will get your drinks. Right, about Ghethson, how is he related to your nuclear weapon theft? I know that he was planning a similar one here, the other AUH people told us that... oh wait, I have a phone call. Excuse me."
Soon after the minister left to answer the phone, the butler came in with the drinks. A few minutes later, Minister Lansky came back.
"Sorry gentlemen, but we will have to leave soon. Its getting a bit late and the prisoners would be having yard time in 3 hours' time and we will take 2 hours to get to the prison. Shall we leave in, lets say 10 minutes? Oh and don't worry about accomodation. You'll be staying in that famous fancy hotel near the financial district. Security is already in place there, so don't worry about that."

Just before they left, Minister Laurence excused himself to use the bathroom. Then they prepared to head to the prison with Minister Lansky.

As the C-130 prison transport and its escort of 12 F-22 Raptors passed the midway point and the carrier battlegroup, the battlegroup turned back towards the ASoGM. The battlegroup wouldn't be able to keep up with the flight, but they could launch fighters in case of trouble. The lead pilot in the Raptor formation radioed his squadron to inform them that they would have to refuel one last time before they arrived home, and to keep sharp in case the AHC had gotten tipped off that Heinrich was in transit, and in case they would attempt to rescue him.

After the Ministers were in the car and on the way to the prison, Minister Laurence started the conversation. "Basically, the deal with Ghethson is, while he was a Corporal in the ASoGM military, he started working for the AUM. He helped organize the theft of 6 nuclear tipped Tomahawk missiles from the base he was stationed on. He gave them access and vehicles, disabled the missile tracking systems, and the arming codes. For that, the AUM made him an extremely wealthy man. Fortunately, we were able to recover the missiles before the AUM got away with them, and capture one of the thieves. In a plea agreement, he implicated Ghethson as the inside man. We were able to subpoena Ghethson's financial records, which eventually led a bank in Woodsfield". Minister Smithfield added, "Ghethson is a deserter, traitor, thief, and accessory to terrorism. We know we have no formal extradition treaty with Rastier, but we are asking to be able to bring Ghethson back to the ASoGM to face the charges there".

"Ah, I see. But you have to understand, our country does not believe in extradition. Plus, we don't usually have foreign criminals here, as the penal system here is very strict, thus crime here is totally unknown. Ghethson must have thought too highly of himself to come here. Nevertheless, you may never know. For all we know, he has only plotted to steal nukes here, and robbed a bank. He may go down in history as the first criminal to be extradited. We'll see", replied Minister Lansky, with a optimistic and hopeful tone to his voice. He looked out of the window and let out a soft sigh. If only the President would be as understanding as he is...

"He is dangerous, Minister. Not only to law abiding citizens, but to fellow criminals and the AUM. The AUM will not stop in their pursuit of him, because they know he knows enough to seriously damage their interests. They won't hesitate if someone gets in their way, either. And I hope we can work together to make sure that the AUM never attempts anything like that again. For that though, we need Ghethson".

"I must clarify though, that we also wish that we can come to a similar conclusion. But the President, not myself, is the one that will approve of this case. He is a very traditional man, such that he may not approve to the extradition of Ghethson. As such, I will try my best, and I'm sure you will too, to convince him. Laurence added, "If he is extradited to the ASoGM, he'll be charged with the crimes we mentioned in the initial fax, and given a fair trial. Assuming he is found guilty, which is likely given what he's attempted here, he'll be sentenced to prison for a very long time".

Minister Laurence followed with, "Corporal Ghethson, my name is Minister Laurence, and I work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the ASoGM. It is my job to persuade the Rastierians to allow your extradition to the ASoGM. I here there's already been an attempt on your life by the AUM?".
OOC: I wonder where Zaheran and Alfegos are. They still have characters in this RP, and more opportunities.

IC: "You do realize the charges you'll be facing if we are able to extradite you, correct?", Minister Laurence asked. "You will be looking at many years in a Supermax facility if convicted. You would be going to a Supermax facility because you probably won't be safe in a regular prison, from both the AUM and the regular prisoners". Minister Smithfield turned to Minister Lansky and asked, "When would we be able to meet with your president to discuss the matter of the extradition?".
"We shall meet tomorrow. If you're finished with him, we will proceed to your hotel, where you will be having dinner. Its best that we all get some rest, especially since you've been travelling today and may not be able to cope with jetlag. Shall we make our move?" replied Minister Lansky.

After dinner, Minister Laurence went to sleep, while Minister Smithfield played a Sudoku puzzle before turning in.
The next morning, two bodyguards sent by Minister Lansky drove up to the hotel to send the two ministers to meet the President at the Convention Centre boardroom. The ministers came down just in time to see the BMW drive up to the hotel pick-up area. Once they got into the car, the driver immediately sped off for the short 5-minute trip to the Convention Centre.
When the Ministers arrived at the Convention Centre, they found that many journalists were waiting for them, as extradition in Rastier was considered hot news. "We have a secure facility that prevents the prisoners from escaping, as they don't have the opportunity to move through the facility due to the biometric locks. Snipers and assassins can't get to prisoners because they have no yard time where someone can take a shot at them", Minister Smithfield replied. Where am I?, Heinrich thought. He opened his eyes, but he couldn't see anything. His body felt limp, and when he tried to lift his arm the body refused to obey him. He felt sleepy and his thoughts were confused and disorganized. They must have drugged me, he thought in a moment of clarity. But who were they? The last thing he remembered was two thuggish guards throwing a sack over his head, a sharp pain in the back of his head and then...blackness. Wait. Hadn't he heard a plane land before the two guards came to get him? Had they handed him over to the GMians? Had the DSS flown him to another place to continue the interrogation? He thought he could hear the light humming of a motor. I'm inside some kind of vehicle, he realized. But where are they taking me?

They silently brought him inside, took his fingerprints, and lined him up for mug shots. They took the bag off, snapped one picture, and one of the guards roughly turned Heinrich to the side before the next picture was taken. Heinrich was again roughly turned, this time 180 degrees, before a third picture was taken. The guards placed the bag back over his head, and Heinrich was led to a cell in the isolation ward. Once in the cell, they took the bag off for the final time, and one of the guards said, "Your lawyer will be here sometime this week". The guard then locked the cell door and walked away.
"We have a secure facility that prevents the prisoners from escaping, as they don't have the opportunity to move through the facility due to the biometric locks. They can't foment rebellion in the prison because they don't have contact with the other prisoners. Snipers and assassins can't get to prisoners because they have no yard time where someone can take a shot at them", Minister Smithfield replied. Minister Laurence added, "It's a Supermax prison, and it's our most secure facility. To date, there have been no riots, rebellions, escape attempts, or murders".
"I am deeply impressed. Rastier should build a prison like that. But that is another story. Back to the topic. I must agree, that Ghethson is not very safe here in Rastier and I also would not want a gang war in Rastier. I will need to think about it. We shall have more meetings in the future. Meanwhile, Ghethson shall not come into any contact with any prisoner, neither should he have yard time. Place a guard in front of the cell to keep watch on him 24/7. I can see this man is dangerous and would attempt to escape", the President instructed to the Commissioner of Police, who was also present. "As for the ASoGM ministers, bring them around and give them a tour of the capital city, Mr. Lansky. I will give them an answer by tomorrow. See you all tomorrow, gentlemen."
"As you wish, sir", Minister Lansky replied. They followed the President to the helipad, where his helicopter would whisk him away. "Let us go for lunch", said Minister Lansky after they saw the President off. The ministers took the lift all the way downstairs, past the reporters to the waiting BMW, which took them back to the hotel for lunch.

Great. Another cell in another prison. At least, this time it seemed like he would get a lawyer. A proper trial, huh?, he thought. Maybe I can use that to my advantage. Let's see. I wasn't directly been directly involved in my brothers attack on them, so murder and terrorism or whatever they choose to charge me for won't work. The only thing they can use against me is the truths I told that hethen captain. What can that be? Two, three years in prison? Nothing I can't live with. He shook his head contempuosly. Such naivety. They should have killed me when they had the chance.

There was a guard posted at Heinrich's cell, and the guard was changed out every 30 minutes. Eventually, another guard came by to give Heinrich a plastic lunch tray with a cup of warm soup, a sandwich, and a cup of cool water. No utensils were allowed to Heinrich, per the orders of Captain Cabunt and the base commander.
OOC: As with Alfegos, you can run the public defender.
As the ministers rode back to the hotel for lunch, Minister Smithfield asked Minister Lansky how he felt the meeting went.
"I think the President would consent to the extradition. Honestly, I have never seen him so worried when you told him the consequences of Ghethson remaining here. There is hope..." Minister Lansky replied.
After lunch, Minister Lansky gave them a small tour around the city.
The next day, the ministers woke up, had their breakfast in bed, changed, and went to the lobby where they found Minister Lansky waiting with the BMW. They hopped in it and made the trip to the Convention Centre, past the journalists to the boardroom and waited for the President to arrive.
"Cross your fingers", Minister Lansky said to the ASoGM ministers.

5 minutes later, the President walked in calmly, with a grin on his face.
"I have raised this issue in Parliament yesterday afternoon, and after a heated debate, we have decided that Ghethson is to be extradited. I myself, many MPs and Ministers have agreed to this. Today's meeting will be on how Ghethson is to be extradited. You really have to congratulate Ghethson. He has become the first person in the history of the Federation of Rastier to be extradited."

"I'm sure it's not what he'll want to be remembered for, but it's what he's been stuck with", Minister Smithfield said with a slight chuckle. Minister Laurence added, "We have extradited high threat prisoners from other nations before, using a modified C-130 cargo plane, a squadron of fighters, naval logistics and backup support, and mid-air refueling aircraft. Our plan is already in place, and due to the fact that the personnel necessary for such a plan have just completed a prisoner transfer, they are already assembled. We can have them headed towards their positions as soon as you give the word".
"Excuse me, but I have only one concern. AUH assasins and snipers. We have to think of that, eh", Minister Lansky interrupted.
"I do think that is a concern, but I can think of a solution. I propose doing a security sweep of the area at least 3 kilometres from the prison. ASoGM forces could help, too. I do not think we have the manpower", replied the President.

"We can include a platoon of marines that can help secure the perimeter. They'll arrive and depart on the C-130 with Ghethson, acting as guards on the flight back. Also, we might wish to arrange for multiple convoys of vehicles to leave the prison. Sort of a shell game, to throw the AUM off Ghethson's trail. And once Ghethson's on the C-130 and in the air, the AUM won't be able to touch him without dealing with a squadron of F-22 Raptors", Minister Smithfield said.
"That can be arranged. I will also order a few F-35As to help escort the C-130 to the ASoGM", added the President. "When you are ready, tell Minister Lansky and he will make the arrangements for the C-130 with the marines to land in Rastier. I shall take my leave now and any other matters should be handed over to Minister Lansky. Goodbye." The President proceeded to shake the hands of the 3 ministers before everyone left for the helipad.

Minister Smithfield turned to Minister Lansky and said, "I'll need to call the team in", then turned on his satellite phone and dialed a number. While he was talking, Minister Laurence turned to Minister Lansky and said, "It should only be a day before the C-130 and escorts are here. The battlegroup will take some time to get into position, but with the addition of your F-35As, the battlegroup will be less needed". Just then, Minister Smithfield turned off his satellite phone, turned to Minister Lansky, and said, "Everything's in motion, and the C-130 and her escorts will be here sometime tommorow. The refueling planes are getting ready, and they'll be able to refuel your aircraft as well".

Heinrich was eating his lunch when the lawyer arrived. "Greetings, brother", he said when stepping into the cell. Heinrich looked up from his food. "Are you.."
The man nodded. "I am. Be at ease, Heinrich. We wish you no harm. Our primary concern right now is getting you out of here".
Heinrich sighed of relief. "You know I never meant to betray the Cause".
"I know. We can't talk about that here, though. The cell might be bugged". He sat down. "So, mr Müller", he said louder. "Tell me what really happened that day".
Heinrich hesitated. "Well, we had just located that airship when the GMians turned up. Some of the other ships started shooting at them, I think. All I was concerned about was not falling off that damned rope".
The lawyer nodded. "Were you involved in the battle between the GMians and the AHC?"
Heinrich shook his head. "No. Just against the Alfegans".
The lawyer smiled. "Excellent. That means the GMians cannot accuse of murdering their sailors. If we're lucky we might get you totally acquited".

Meanwhile, the C-130 was being fueled up, as were the 12 F-22 Raptors. The pilots were briefed on the mission while ground crews made sure the Raptors had their full complement of missiles and ammunition. The battlegroup that had assisted in the transfer of Heinrich from Zaheran to the ASoGM was sent new orders to transit to the halfway point between Rastier and the ASoGM. Since they were still out at sea, they would be quicker to get into position than another battlegroup.
Once the aircraft were ready, they took off, and began heading towards Rastier.
OOC: The trip to/from Rastier would be a good opportunity for one of the groups of troublemakers to start something (like, an attack on the flight).

As the C-130 and the Raptors approached Rastier, the C-130 pilot used the radio to call for clearance for the flight to enter Rastierian airspace. Meanwhile, the battlegroup was still making its way to its station for this mission. An E-2 Hawkeye was launched in order to keep an eye on the operation, and relay orders and information, if things got messy. It would be refueled by one of the carrier's refueling aircraft when it became necessary.
OOC: We could really use Alfegos in here for this part of the thread. I think I'll send a TG.

An E-3 Sentry was dispatched, to serve as AWACS. It authorised the planes to enter Rastian airspace, and Air Traffic Control cleared them to land at the air base in the capitol city. Meanwhile, the 3 Ministers went to the airfield to greet the pilots.

OOC: The battlegroup isn't heading all the way to Rastier. They're taking up position in international waters approximately halfway between Rastier and the ASoGM. As far as the ministers are concerned, I hadn't thought about what I'd do with them. Staying there for a few days sounds good.
IC: The flight from the ASoGM landed, and the pilots, crew, and marines exited the aircraft, and stood at attention as the 3 ministers approached. When the ministers were close enough, the highest ranking pilot gave a command, and as a group, they saluted.

The ASoGM pilots went over their planned route back to the ASoGM, referring to their maps as they went. They also chose their encoded radio frequencies, making a note to inform the Rastierian F-35 pilots at the briefing. Once the ASoGM pilots were satisfied that they were prepared for the next day's mission, they turned in to get a good night's sleep.
Meanwhile, as the ministers rode back to the hotel, Minister Smithfield said, "We should have contingencies set up for moving Ghethson to the airfield. Also, you can organize the ASoGM marines however you feel is necessary, for helping to clear a perimeter for the transfer".

Meanwhile, the police commander was planning the sweep with the commander of the squad of marines. They decided that 2 hours before Ghethson was due to depart, they would close the roads and issue a warning that no one was to go into the 3-kilometre radius around the prison at that time. They would then do a sweep of the area, and escort anyone in the area to the police station for questioning. Having planned that, they sent a message to all the broadcasting agencies, telling them to announce the road closure and issue the warning immediately. Soon, radio stations and television stations were announcing this, much to the chagrin of the listeners.

Minister Laurence said, "That sounds like a good idea, to have an armed escort. Maybe you can have some armored vehicles show up at the prison at the same time, and leave in a convoy towards the same destination. That would provide a decoy that may distract any assassins".
"Ah, that is even better! I will propose that immediately." With that, Minister Lansky dialed a few numbers with his phone, and after a few minutes, he replied, "Excellent! It is done, and a few armoured SUVs and a prisoner transport vehicle are ready to be the decoys. They shall leave earlier, so the assassins will follow that instead."
(You haven't made it easy for me, have you? Still, I can think of some ways)
The AUM never forgave. They never forgot. They may fail at an attempt, yet still lurk in the shadows, planning their next move. And this next one was an absolute gem of a plan.
Captain Kian Khlani was a mercenary. And a very useful one at that: he had on occasion provided both them and the Alfegan Government with a surprise in the form of a ridiculous amount of firepower coming from nowhere and disappearing back into nowhere without any suspiscion of there being foul play. He commanded a converted Liberty-class Aero-Freighter. Even though he carried a legit cargo of 800 tonnes of coffee, that was not the only thing he carried.
They knew that Gethson would be extradited, and that he would be going to ASoGM. And they didn't even need to know the flight paths bribed from an official at one of the ASoGM air traffic control stations: the airship flown by Klanhi hid amongst the gasbag a RADAR unit with a range of 70km, the key device to guide the payload of SAMs hidden amongst the cargo crates. And to control the 4 35mm Point Defence guns on the main cargo gondola, each able to track 5 separate inbound missiles and take them out one by one.
But the gem of the crown was what weapon it was carrying: a Splinter SAM. With a range of 2000km and the latest in countermeasures, it was an untraceable javelin that would be guided to its target first by GPS of the known flight path, and then a powerful ARH/RH system that would take the missile to its final destination of the C-130.

Meanwhile, a pair of ground teams consisting of the landrover teams that had wanted to take out Ghethson would intercept his convoy, interrogate the codes out of him with a gun to his head, then scarper. They could escape easily, and leave the authorities confused and unawares of what had actually gone on. While they scurried off into the sewerage system of the nation, leaving car bombs in their vehicles, they would themselves deliver Ghethson to his death. A beautiful plan that would leave them a sum enough to justify the extent to which they went in extracting the funds, and be left with an overall profit.

OOC: Where, approximately is this airship in relation to Rastier and the halfway point between Rastier and the ASoGM? Is the Splinter SAM being fired from a land base, or from the airship? Is the airship's radar what will lock onto the C-130 in the missile's final phase?
The answers to these questions will determine my response.
Oh, and is the second team going for the armored vehicles? And has the Splinter SAM been fired yet? Because the C-130 hasn't even taken off yet.

((I'm not exactly sure what brought me here. Feeling silly I guess. But I was just wondering, out of curiosity, a little more about that airship(dirigible, zeppelin). Is this '800 tonnes' of coffee it's carrying correct? In addition to crew, systems and armaments? What is this vessel constructed out of? Because my math indicates that this would have to be the largest airship ever constructed by at least an order of magnitude. ))
(OOC: The airship is about halfway between the two nations, yes. The Splinter SAM is carried aboard the said airship, and has not been fired yet. The RADAR on the missile will guide it in its last phases of guidance. And the two teams on the ground are one to attack the convoy and one as backup.
And as for the airship, you'll find it is rather a big one: does 550 metres of airship sound good for you? And before you start on the obvious questions, think of the obvious answers. Any unusual questions you can try and TG me. But you want some materials, I can give you my AeroFilm as the envelope, and a combination of CFRP, Aluminium and steel cable as the internal rigid structure. I've done the calculations for airships of this size before (check out the Consul Aerocruiser on the NSDraftroom), and found that the sort of sizes I'm talking about will support the sort of masses I'm talking about. In addition, I have carried out numerous discussions with off-site associates, who have reasoned that an airship-based nation is viable, so long as the asid nation has the infastructure for dealing with them (massive factories, hangers blasted into the sides of mountains in existing caves/covered-over gorges, kilometre-long fields doubling as aerodromes for conventional air traffic).
So, with a lift of 1.25kg per cubic metre (make that 1.3 in my calculations to account for the core of hydrogen used to fuel the engines), and with a total volume measured in millions of cubic metres, you've got something that works. Now, if you have any more criticisms of the said airship/airship infastructure, please direct them to Telegram, where I am sure we can sort out any problems you have )
The guard sitting just outside the cell laughed and said, "We don't have to bug the cells. Especially when the public defender makes a rookie mistake and talks in front of us guards".
The lawyer just smiled and shook his head. "Heathens", he whispered to Heinrich. "One can almost smell their damnation, can't one?"
The prisoner nodded. "Satan must have plans for expansion. Quite many of his servants up here".
The other man chuckled. "Yeah. But they'll meet him down there, won't they? Quite a surprise, one might say".
"They have deserved it. Such insolence, locking up one of the men trying to save them".
"They are ungrateful indeed. But we'll show them". He rised to his feet. "See you soon, mr Müller", he said in a higher voice. "Until we meet next time, good luck and God bless".
He opened the door and walked out of the room.

The E-2 Hawkeye picked up the airship approximately halfway between Rastier and the ASoGM, which was the position the battlegroup was supposed to be heading to. When the E-2 radioed the contact in to the battlegroup, the admiral aboard the carrier made the decision to launch a squadron of 12 F18s to check it out. Also launched were 4 EA-6B Prowlers to accompany the F-18s, and another E-2 Hawkeye that would take up station near the battlegroup. The admiral dispatched a message to Naval Command, informing them of the presence of the airship in the area, and that they were investigating. Naval Command then relayed this information via satellite phone to Minister Smithfield.
Minister Smithfield then informed Minister Laurence and Minister Lansky of the potential problem.

"Do you think it is a civillian airship or its something else? Have you had any trouble with airships before? If so, I do think we shall have to cancel the mission, but we will put in place a new one, with our planes attacking the airship, and the marines and police going ahead with the sweep. I should be able to get more troops to protect Ghethson. Are you fine with the backup plan?" replied Minister Lansky.
The airship had not yet crossed the flightpath of the route: it was travelling along slowly with the wind on its sails, the crew preparing for the sudden attack.
"I will laugh if they send out fighters to destroy us, and they realise that we are a legal civilian vessel. Then look at how much they're going to have to refund us for shooting down this: a few million, do ya reckon?"
The Captain busied himself with watching satellite TV on one of his monitors, waiting for the planes to take off. The devious plan he had to pull off was indeed a good one, which would guarentee the mission's success. Just have to wait for the aircraft to be detected.
Down below, the container ship cut its way through the ocean, coming towards the airship from below.

"We have had airship troubles before. We know that the AUM operated one when they stole the 6 nuclear missiles from us. We suspect that they also hit a cargo ship from the ASoGM. Now, this may just be a civilian airship, but I think we should postpone any decisions on the operation until we hear back from the battlegroup", Minister Laurence said.

As the fighters from the battlegroup closed with the airship, the lead pilot split the group, so that half of the fighters would pass the airship on the port side, with the others passing on the starboard side, maintaining a 5 mile distance from the airship. One of the operators on the first E-2 Hawkeye radioed the airship, explaining that the ASoGM navy was running military exercises in the area, and that the airship should alter its flight path towards a proper shipping lane to avoid an accident.
"We have had airship troubles before. We know that the AUM operated one when they stole the 6 nuclear missiles from us. We suspect that they also hit a cargo ship from the ASoGM. "Shall I ask for the navy to assist, should the need arise?" replied Minister Lansky.
"This is the L-PY 221, responding to inbound fighers: please break off immediately. We are in international waters, and following a standard Alfegan-designated shipping lane in your area, following a sea shipping lane, and therefore can not be forced to divert course. We are lucky in having the wind on our tail for the moment, and will not be losing valuable speed and time in moving to another path. As you should know, we have priority at our altitude, being unable to rapidly change altitude without cataclysmic loss of lift and possible crashing.
And if you even think of attacking us, we have the protection of Alfegos behind us. L-PY 211 Out."
The airship shifted slightly to keep at the projected path at the projected speed. Behind the CFRP panels of the cargo gondola hanging beneath the craft, a missile unit stirred underneath a mountain of coffee. The 16m long Splinter missile was waking up, along with the countermeasures systems. Not that they were online yet: they would be coming on at the last moment, to stop the fighters from being clued as to the deadly cargo. And with them being such a primitive race, they would have no methods of boarding and searching the airship, so would be unable to hold any claims of the airship being armed. And the fake heat signatures coming from an innocent container ship would be enough to stop the airship being attacked. If they did investigate, they would find that the airship was empty of suspicious items, and would not be that apt in searching 4.5 million cubic metres of airship for the weapons.
"Oh, and we forgot to say: if you don't bugger off in 30 seconds, we're contacting the Alfegan government. Over and out."

"Be patient: as soon as he does leave, we're moving in as fast a possible.

The Hawkeye's radio operator then explained to the airship's pilot that they were unaware of the Alfegan-designated shipping lane, and that the fighters were not up there to attack the airship, they were launched to perform military exercises in squadron strength. He explained that the fighters were moving off, and that the fighters wouldn't trouble the airship again. Then the squadron leader paired the fighters off, and they began performing combat maneuvers, to give credence to the claim of a military exercise. When they began to run low on fuel, a quartet of KA-6D refueling tankers met up with them, so they could stay in the air. Once they were topped off, they made a second run at the refueling tankers, to further the illusion of an exercise.
The admiral on the carrier was listening to the radio communications between the airship and the Hawkeye, and relayed that information to Naval Command. Naval Command then contacted Minister Smithfield on his satellite phone. Minister Smithfield talked for a minute, then said, "The airship is refusing to leave the area, despite our cover story of running military exercises there. I'm worried that it might be an AUM ship after all, although I could just be over-reacting. I think we might have to change the method of transporting Ghethson back to the ASoGM. Minister Lansky, with your permission, I'd like to have the subs attached to our battlegroup come into dock. That way, we have the option of moving him that way. Also, with your permission, I'll have the C-130's crew change the transponder frequency to a commercial one, and change the flight path to one of the commercial lanes".
"Right, we'll have the patch up soon."
The AUM man in the back of the reserve landrover was looking at a laptop screen, a long string of code copied from a secure e-mail. Up on screen, he was gazing at a fuzzy image intercepted from a military stratellite coming over from the east, acting as a roving TV provider. A feed over the local area, controlled by the illegal hack. Of course, he had had to go through 8 private proxy filters to screen his ID, and was using a stolen handset to route the signal thorugh, but with at least an hour of viewing time before they even noticed he was there, they now had an advantage. If the communication held.
Another man was listening into the communications, running them through a decoder. The babble being recorded was slowly being turned into a legible text. One line in particular had made them concerned.
"You know those fighters surrounding Klanhi?"
"What of them?"
"They're not on exercise. The chatter between the men indicates that they're suspicious of the airship."
"That's a bugger: tell them to warm up all systems in case the shit hits the fan."
The signal then flashed back to gibberish as the communication encryption changed.
"Damn! They must have got wind of us hacking in. See if we can get into it again, and this time not get spotted."

As Minister Smithfield expressed his concerns, and made his suggestions on changing the plan, Minister Laurence listened. He then asked Minister Smithfield if there was anything else that could be done to limit Ghethson's exposure to assassins. Minister Smithfield suggested dressing one of the ASoGM marines in Rastierian prison wear, complete with shackles, leg cuffs, bulletproof vest, and a bag over his head, then loading into the armored vehicle convoy. Once in the vehicle, the marine could be freed from the restraints, and his gear could be already in the vehicle. This, Minister Smithfield said, could help to strengthen the idea of the vehicles as the transportation method they were going with. Then, shortly after the convoy has left the prison, the helicopters can come in to pick Ghethson up, similarly dressed as the marine was. He also suggested some gunship escort of the armored convoy.
"Come on: when are they leaving?"
"Don't be impatient. Make sure the stuff is absolutely perfect: you could stick one of those launchers out the sunroof, in case we have any slicks coming with us."
"Good thought."
An AAT-67 was tied with wire to the seat, facing upwards. The wire drum and control were attached, readying the launcher for use.

OOC: Gotta wait for Rastier before I can do much more.

Airships... now so assosciated with Alfegos, nobody ever thought of other nations, such as Prevania, who supplied them with many airships in a very competetive trade. Or the quieter nations.
Only Alfegos and Prevania had the cheek as some had called it to use airships in an age where heavier-than-air craft were the accepted norm. They made comments of such an infrastructure being pointless and profitless. That is, until they saw the nation of Alfegos themselves, walking in the massive airship factories that took up entire cities or in the caverns cut out of the rock for holding tens of these beautiful craft. Then, they would be able to see the appeal of the airship, and use that when seeing the benefits the craft had over nearly all other forms of freight transport.
Of course, there were the downsides: in Prevania, a terrorist attack had crashed an 800m long airship into a major city, cutting a deep swath in the built-up area and causing damage that ran into billions. And there was the cost of making one of these in a nation ill-equipped for such tasks, lack of infastructure raising prices to hundreds of millions. A commodity for those with money to burn in the nations outside the Fegosphere.
Still, the price of shooting one of these down, when fully armed, amounted to more than one might think. A fully loaded aero-frigate could easily take on an aircraft squadron and win, with a 80% intercept chance of all missiles fired at it. Silly that the enemies they fought believed they were so vunerable as to fire off a missile at them an assume the best: there had been a time where airships had been used to level entire cities with thousands of tonnes of munitions, while those sitting below could do nothing but fire off Flak cannons in vain at the white beasts that could float high out of range of those weapons. Now, ECM and PD were the main players in airships, along with the most modern of materials being used to optimise their efficiency, allowing increasing roles to be used. Even satellite communications were threatened, high-altitude airships known as stratellites now circling the earth in the Mesosphere, high above the ceiling of most aircraft, where they could beam broadband and TV to those below, along with their military use of camera platforms with much better views than satellites, or as RADAR systems to protect Alfegos from a nuclear holocaust.
They said that the only way to destory a fully armed airship was with suicide tactics, a hell of a lot of firepower, or another airship. That was where the fun really started...

OOC: I'm very sorry, but I see we don't live in the same time zones
IC: Minister Lansky listened to both suggestions, then said, "I think that is a good idea. I shall see what I can do. I do know that I can open the commercial lanes for your C-130." He proceded to dial a few more numbers, before saying, "Your subs can dock here, but they must be discreet. As for Minister Smithfield's idea, the SUVs and the prisoner transport vehicle are heading for the barracks, to pick the marine up. We always have spare prisoner uniforms in the vehicles, so its not a problem. shackles, handcuffs are all in there. Just tell the marine and I do hope he doesn't mind... I am also very worried about the airship. Do you require an E-3 to help?"

Heinrich laid down on the bunk and closed his eyes, relaxing for the first time since he had been captured. The AHC was still alive. Badly wounded, yes, but still alive and out for revenge. Soon I will be out of this rat-hole, he thought. Soon I will reunite with my brothers and continue the fight.
He mumbled a prayer to God and fell asleep.
