The Dark Trade

The airship roared across the sky in the sea of the moon, out of contact with anyone if anything went wrong. That was good for the pilot though. He had engaged in talks with a man to deliver some "goods", just before he had been shot and his plantations burnt to the ground.

The pilot kept his eye on the RADAR screen of his communications officer, making sure that nothing was going on. Then, he spotted the other airship coming towards them rapidly. Too rapidly.

He climbed out of the pressurised unit and into the ship's interior: a network of walkways amongst the gas bags, with the jointed support struts visible amongst the translucent sacs. He jumped down some ladders, and found himself on the bottom maintenance gantry, suspended underneath the airship. From here, he looked out, seeing nothing in the direction of the anomaly on the RADAR, blinded by the sun. He shaded his eyes, and could still see nothing. Then he heard the drone of engines, and noticed a blue patch of sky moving.

That was when he knew he was in trouble. He ran back to the gondola, where the comms officer still had no signal. He explained all to the crew, and all except the co-pilot left the gondola. 7 men in all. They rushed towards the midship area in the central gantry, where hidden amongst the gas cells was a fair-sized armoury.

Armed with 6 AF-07Cs and a HPAT missile launcher, they spread themselves along the gantry, aiming at the ship that now had come broadside to them, at about 100 metres away from them. They noticed its length and shape: a Tradewind-class patrol ship, with no visible armaments. The gondola had shaded windows, with no-one visible inside. There was a silence for a few seconds, before a harpoon shot across from the other airship, ripping through the thin film and jamming itself in a support strut. This was followed by 8 more.

As the men began to zip-wire across from the other airship, the armed men opened fire: the bullets flew across at the men coming across, while a crude missile spat from the launcher into the patrol ship, exploding as it impacted upon the gondola. When the dust cleared, he realised that it was heavily armoured just as the men half-way across began firing.

One of the men on the gantry was hit in the chest, and collapsed onto the walkway, while 3 of the zipwirers were sprayed with the fire. They landed on the underside gantry as the men reloaded, and using Uzis they completely cleared the walkway. The captain lay with 8 rounds spread across his body, as one of the men came up to him.

"We will spare your family if you tell us where the goods are."

"Just above the engine gondola: they're tucked amongst 8 of the gas cells."

"Thanks"

The man fired off a round into the captain's head, before bawling in Fegosian to his underlings. They ran off to get the goods just as some more men arrived from the other ship. They threw the bodies into the sea, before entering the control gondola. After removing the co-pilot and the blackbox, they left a bag in the main cockpit.

___________________________________

After the other patrol ship left, now with 100kg of cocaine and 2000 doses of Zen, the other ship began drifting in the wind. After a few minutes, it exploded along its entire length, the force added to by the compressed hydrogen fuel that ignited in the rear gondola. The tattered structure began to fall, and within seconds raised a massive splash as it hit the sea surface, sinking slowly from view.

Another enemy had been totally eliminated from the hitlist of the AUM.

"They have dealt with it Fego'fai."

"Good, my daughter. Now we have the monoploy on drugs in Alfegos and its colonies, as well as a nice share of the Novan market. Tell me, how does the global market sound?"

"Excellent Fego'fai. I do believe that there are many shady organisations that will wish to be on the receiving end of our chain of supply. Send a message to all possibly-interested parties."

The daughter left the marble study, and the Fego'fai of the Alfegos Underground Mafia rotated in his chair to face the magnificant view from his office in Ki'liva, a small village on the eastern coats of Alfegos, facing into the relative calm of the Novan seas. He sighed as he saw a storm brewing in the distance, and pressed a button. The window rapidly changed colour, soon turning black as it obscured the view.

He flipped up the screen built into his mahogany desk, and began typing on a glass keyboard.

From: The Capitalist Underground, Yanitaria

Due to the recent troubles in Yanitaria, and the persectution of Capitalists, we feel that the time is right to start making a profit from the chaos.

Our legitimate companies will front the sale of airships, if given the designs, which we can then use to smuggle things normally confiscated at check points.

In return for your cooperation and support, we will give your organization 10% of our profits, and reimburse you for all your supplies.

"They want airships, eh?"

"Yes Fego'fai, for the delivery of goods."

"An unusual and expensive past-time, but a very good idea none the less."

We have "aquired" some airships for you. Shown are the current registration numbers, that will be removed before sale.

ANZ-L29 - Liberty class airship (small-mid transport)
ANZ-L74 - Liberty class airship (small-mid transport)
ANZ-C11 - Clipper class airship (mid-large transport)
AIV-T17 - Tradewind class airship (small transport)
AASF-87 - K Class Air Frigate (Lightly armed battle airship)

Though the total cost of these vessels as new comes to over $150 million, we will give them for free, as long as your side of the bargain is met. If not, we cannot guarentee our good relations.

At a deserted airpark in Il'vi, an airship took off. It's side read the AIV-T17, and the crew were all dead. They lay gunned down in the gondola, with 12 AUM personnel now in control. Kindly, the original crew had refuelled the airship, and it had just been in for full repair. All in all, rather good.

It took off under its original beacon, and once out in international waters, the bodies along with the beacon fell from the side into the sea.

It was the first of the other airships that were following, spread about of course. They were all destined for Yanitaria, each however expecting the co-ordinates for the handover to be given shortly.

Several Months Later:

Yanitarian airships were selling out fast. They could carry about as much as a ship, and avoid the pesky check points upon entering and exiting cities. Even better, they could travel in a straight line, with out the aide of bridges, tunnels, or even straight roads.

Best of all, the mob could smuggle in drugs quickly by dropping burlap bags filled with sand on the roofs of high rises, where they would be picked up, and the usually small (comparitively, for a 3m x 3m sand bag) package taken out before the sand was emptied onto the street below, and the bag tossed.

Nearly a tonne of drugs were being dropped per day, servicing every major Yanitarian city. And with the stricter rule, the people often looked to drugs as an escape.

The CU managed to become one of two major crime families in Yanitaria, while competitors often vanished. A few loose ends were met but tragic Airship accidents, mostly involving them being filled with Hydrogen instead of helium.

For the Cannabis drug, we are willing to start sales at $180 per kilogram. We can however sell you many more types if you wish, including "special" drugs unique to Alfegos.

I'll edit the post to be more accurate.

Also, if I wanted to RP my mob, should I do it here, or in a new post? I'd prefer to do it in a new post, for many reasons, mostly to keep this one clean.

Hello, my associates and I are interested in aquiring the services of your organization, primarily in the realm of person disposal. My organization is currently suffering heavily under the crackdowns of Grand Marshall Hektor Klague in Scolar, Antarctika. Imports of such illegal goods as narcotics and other such contraband are being severely impacted by his aggressive campaign against my organization. We offer the sum of 25,000,000 for his death.

We wish to purchase 1 kg first to try out your weed. If we like the way you cultivate it, we'll order more. I'm sure you know how different cannabis can be from two different plantations. If you could, we request samplings from all your plantations, a kilogram in all so that we can mix and match and all our members can find their prefered blend. We are headquartered in Amsterdam. Meet us in the Blauw Varken in the north of the De Wallen district. It's a coffee shop, despite it's name and there is a legal brothel with
very clean prostitutes nearby should it be to your liking. Meet us 2:00 UTC+1 on the 16th with the goods. We will have 185 Dutch Atlas ready for the kg. It's just over 120 Alfegan Aureus' and worth about $196. Keep the change.

A man walked into the alloted coffee shop, and ordered a cappucino. He then went over to the table in the corner, where no-one was sitting. In his backpack were 9 boxes each containing 100g of cannabis, with a single silver tube containing cannabis from the Fego'fai's own plantation. He was an expert on this drug, so would have no trouble explaining to the rep. the different grades he had, from "Pe'qua" grown hydroponically through to Me'qua grown in plantations with fertiliser, then the Mo'qua grown in the rainforest clearings, ending in that small tube of Greo'qua that was the sort that a true smoker would relish.

He kept an eye out for his contact.

The air of the Blauw Varken was full of marijuana smoke as was usual. A shaved man with a hat reading "Rookcoupé Club" and a shirt with a piture of the cannabis plant. He had jeans and short brown hair and appeared in his mid-20's. He sat noticed that the only places without a lot of smoke were the corners and the only corner with only one person was to his left. He lit up as he strided towards the man seated there. He could light up near anyone in the coffee shop as the disclaimer on the door said in Dutch and English that smoking is allowed.

He sat down and asked with little accent in english, "Do you have the weed?"

Basically, we want a general partnership. A non agression pact and a sharing of business interests are what we're looking for. We deal mostly in assasinations, arms dealing, and intelligence gathering. We also run the Sceleratus street gangs that have interest in everything from illegal street racing, to protection rackets, to loansharking. Currently we are not very involved in the narcotics trade. Cannabis and several other hallucinogenic drugs are legal in Aurum Domus but there is a wide market for hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and crystal meth. We are hoping you can supply us with these in exchange for a spot in our illegal arms trading business. To work out the specific details I suggest you send a representative to our headquarters on Mt Tritium. Our headquarters are deep within the mountain, we run a ski resort as a front. Your rep can come to the resort posing as a tourist and we will show him to the meetign from there.

The hardest part of any hit is getting into the location: in this case, landing on a warship without making any noise or being seen. The only method that fitted that bill was via the sea.

An apparantly harmless fishing boat launched into the sea a small dinghy. Onboard was a single man who would carry out the hit. He moved the silent craft to the side of the warship, before throwing a grappling hook up onto the deck. When he was sure it had held tight and no-one had seen/heard it, he clambered up the armoured hull onto the deck. He consulted a small printout, a map of the ship, where the mark was indicated by a red dot. He would have to go deep inside, without alerting the hundreds of crewmen. If he did, he had methods of incapacitating them, including a few thousand in notes on his person for the stunning of any door guards. If that failed, the guns and knives he carried on his person were adequate.

He stayed in the shadows on deck, and made his way to a stairwell nearby. After checking that no-one was in it, he switched off the lights and silently padded down them. Soon he was deep inside the ship. Now to find the mark without being shot.

[The fleet consists of over 1,000 ships... even if you weren't blown out of the water en route, which you would be, you'd probably get run over by a ship. But I'll let it go. There are over 10,000 Marines on one of those ships.]

K.S.S. Fortinbraz

Grand Marshal Klague stood in the command room, watching the movement of his massive fleet as it pushed forward deeper into the oceans, heading towards the Vontanian Colony of Archangel, a territory which was rumored to be rich in natural resources. It was rather close to the Kroandon Colony of Undermon, and it would be rather understandable if the fighting had already started before his arrival... but either way, he would go.

"What the...", questioned a Naval Legionnaire as he looked down at the empty floating fishing boat as it slowly drifted away, a grapling hook and rope hanging down to sea level. Picking up the radio, he shouted, "Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! Sector 8 breached, unknown person has infiltrated the Fortinbraz! Intruder Alert!" And before long, there were 10,000 soldiers scouring the ship. The room Klague stood in was promptly sealed off and guarded by twenty men itself. Assassinating a Grand Marshal of the Koalition... it had only happened once... fourty nine years ago.

"Bugger"

The alarm had sent the marines scurrying across the ship, and it was likely as not that now they would have sealed the high marshall off from the rest of the ship. In the conventioanl routes of course...

He eased his way along a utility conduit between decks, using his internal sense of navigation to guess where he was. If he had guessed correctly, he was right over the corridor to the grand marshall. He pulled out a silenced pistol, and continued to clamber through the piping. He hoped to god that the noise the alarms were making would mask the noise he was. Or that the mark was still in the location.

He also had to think: how would he get off? He hoped there was something resembling an aircraft on the ship, so he could get off.

"You there! Stop!", shouted a Legionnaire as he peared into the cooridor the dark figure had begun moving into. In reality, things of this sort were going on constantly, with over a dozen crewmen and maintenance workers being killed in friendly fire scenarios. It just so happened that this time, they were guessing right. A burst of lead was fired from the Legionnaire's C1 Assault rifle as he barked at the hitman, radioing the intruders location via radio. Klague was sealed away, the only entrance being the sealed doors, the sealed airshaft, and the two foot thick bullet proof glass window that made up the command deck.

The hitman quickly went through his mind what he could do. He had prepared for all eventualities, but being shot at was not good. He decided the best method of attack was the quick gung-ho method. He flicked a catch on his pistol and fired off a 3-round burst into the legionaire in the corridor. He ducked back and pulled from his assault vest a grenade. He removed the pin, counted under his breath, and rolled it down through the corridor, to the guards feet.

The next part would be more tricky. He assumed the guards were dead, enough for him to use the reel of safe-breaking explosive in another pocket to blow the door off its hinges. After that, a clean shot to the head.

"Weapons-wise, small submachine guns, pistols and some assault rifles are popular in our spheres of operation, especially if they are foreign. As for drugs, we can get them in via airship and boat: a Clipper-class will likely as not be able to hold 50 tonnes of drugs without any difficulty.

Drugwise, we have the classic ones, and these."

She slipped acorss the table three cylinders, each with a different set of Fegosian symbols on. She unscrewed the first cylinder, revealing about 25 tablets.

"This sells on the street for about $48 per tablet. It is called Foresight, and is quite a powerful hallucinogen. Interested?"
Aurum Domus
15-12-2007, 22:15
"We can sell all of the weapons you mentioned. Most of them are actually legal in Aurum Domus but you'd have a helluva a time actually getting them out of the country. Smuggling large quantities of anything in and out of the mainland will be quite difficult. I suggest we do the tradeoffs in Aureus Insula, its the largets colony and has the least well patrolled waters."

Mortuss picked up one of the tablets and examined it.

"I see great potential in a drug like this. The legal hallucinogens here are very heavily regulated but something like this that is a lot more powerful would be very popular. Everyone is always looking for a more powerful trip. Heres what I'm thinking, you bring us several tons of cocaine and heroin along with say 1,000 tablets of Foresight just to see how the public likes it. In exchange we'll give you 500 of three weapons you choose. If this works out we can make this bigger and hopefully forge a permanent, profitable partnership. What do you say?"
Alfegos
15-12-2007, 22:21
"I say that this would be a very good deal. If you are interested, I can let you sample the other two: Hyperspeed and Zen. If you are interested.

Arms wise, it would probably be best to have some submachine guns. Give us the three most reliable ones you can think of in the deal, and you shall have what you want. As you say, deals can be carried out in the specified area."
Aurum Domus
15-12-2007, 22:42
"Leave the containers of them here and I'll see if I can find a prisoner to test them on. If we are interested we will include them in the next deal. As for the guns, the best 3 we can get our hands on are the Doomani DAC 97, the Kampferian S25, and the AVA Cricket from the Havenic Trading Company. They are all top of the line SMGs from reknowned companies. The large amounts of them that are produced make it very easy for a shipment or two to simply "fall off the back of trucks", If this is acceptable I can have them ready in 3 weeks."

You could form a Vereniging with either of our societies but if you're selling mostly drugs to be smoked, I suggest us. We can get a government grant to cover initial import fees and buying a lot. Verenigings are non-profit so any 'profit' will be used to improve the selling space. You guys may make profit though we won't. We don't care, getting high i worth it."

We would like to confirm our purchase of "brand-new" airships. Anything secondhand would raise suspicion in the largest company in the country.

Boom. The explosion rocked the core of the ship, and slowly the smoke cleared. However to the hitman's displeasure, he would see that the two foot thick titanium-steel composite blast doors had not budged. All that had occured was a nasty black scarring of their exterior... and before long, the area was completely locked down. Doors were sealed as Legionnaires rushed into the area, and within minutes, the hitman, surrounded could hear only one thing. "Drop your weapon, and lay on the ground, hands behind your head!"

"Alright guys, you got me. Or have you?"

He whipped around and let out a burst of automatic fire into the legionaires chests, 30 rounds leaving the extended magazine of the weapon and embedding themselves in any legionaire nearby.

Round after round thudded into the dragon skin of the Legionnaires, irritating, but not breaking through the thick armor of the majority of the men. A few guards dropped, clutching their legs and arms, but of the over twenty men surrounding the hitman, fifteen still stood. And fifteen unleashed bursts of armor piercing rounds directly at him. Surrounded on both sides, walls of lead were flying at him...

"Give me the money for the samples now, and we'll negotiate later the prices of a fixed import of the drug.
Are there any laws in this country for harder stuff?"

He took out three small tubes.

"Alright. you can have the samples in these three tubes for free: two are different grades of smoking cocaine, and the other is standard quality opium. If your members like, then you can order for them with the rest of the drugs. It should be easy getting the stuff to you. Thanks for doing business with us."

Within days of receiving the new airships, they were in service, farrying people, cocaine, marajuana, and speed throughout the country. Even though recreational drugs were perfectly legal, they were forced to keep it quiet so they could continue their export business, which quickly reached many other countries via diplomatic ties.

Bearing the look of a typical businessman, nobody would imagine at all Slade Oliver was one of the best negotiators and murderers for Pablo Medellin, leader of the Medellin Family, the most powerful criminal organization in Third Spanish States. Arriving from an Alfegosian International Airport, he used his natural wit and social skills to eventually locate some "man of business" in Alfegos. At an abandoned warehouse he met a representative of Alfegos Underground Mafia to start discussing business. As they sat down in some old chairs, Slade took a 2010 Cabernet wine and two glasses from his luggage to make the environment more pleasant. After a few formalities and greetings, they started to get into the matters:

"The Medellin Family would like to negotiate the purchase of exclusive rights for the import of Zen to Third Spanish States, with an initial shipment of 200,000 doses of Zen to it. What price would you be interested to offer for it?"
Alfegos
17-12-2007, 22:31
"Exclusive?"

The representitive, a Fego'doi, sat in front of the foreigner.

"We would be willing to trade with you, but would find it very improfitable to stop our current trade of Zen with at least 5 nations. If you are willing to accept a normal trade, then that will be fine. 200 000 doses are hard to come by outside of Alfegos, but we shall deliver. Our price for a yearly trade of a million doses would be Æ8 million, which is equivalent to... yes, about $13 million. What do you reckon?"

Slade re-explained his proposal:

"Actually what I meant was that the Family wishes to be the only business that sell Zen inside Third Spanish States by being its only allowed importer. How much extra would it cost to ensure no other business from Third Spanish States besides Medellin Family would be allowed to buy Zen from the Underground?"
Alfegos
17-12-2007, 22:39
"Add an extra million on per year, and I am sure you have a deal. Since Zen retails for about Æ20-40, you have a good deal there. Do you accept? We can, of course, offer you other drugs that are pretty much unique to Alfegos."

"How would it fare to the Underground to have this trade as a 2 millions of doses per year of initial shipment instead and the exclusivity contract for $26 millions?", Slade suggested and continued

"About other drugs, sorry, but I can not do it for now, as my given orders are to negotiate only a Zen shipment, no exceptions allowed."
Alfegos

"I think that should be acceptable."

Slade Oliver offers the Fego'doi a handshake and asks

"How would you like the payment? The Family standard way is half of it, or in this case, 13 millions at the start, and 13 millions after all the merchandise arrive to us. There is also the option of having monthly payments of $ 2,166,667 per month. And we can handle bank transfers through accounts in most Cayman Islands, Switzerland offshore banks and through some of the more 'ethically flexible' credit cooperatives of Third Spanish States."
Alfegos
18-12-2007, 08:59
"The first method of payment, into an offshore account here, is a rather good one. Here is the account details."

The Fego'doi took the handshake, and handed the man a piece of paper.

Slade nodded as he took the paper and immediately grabbed a cell phone from his pocket and made a call which was quickly answered. He immediately pretended to be a technical support employed and by the end of the conversation, after many technical details about Internet connections, he said:

"Thank you for choosing ValueNet, your customer support number is *account number*, please take note of it: should you need further support later it will help us to determine the causes of your issue.". Then he shut down the mobile and called again, this time identifying himself as a bank clerk of the cited bank in the Alfegos Underground given account details pretending to telemarket the man he called to, and after it the call was quickly closed. Then he looked at the man at his front and said:

"The transfer should be done in about 30 seconds now".

32 seconds later, $13 million were deposited at a shady offshore bank account. After three more seconds Slade then said: "You can check with your partners if you wish to confirm, but by this time the amount should already be deposited. Thank you for the business and I hope our groups will have a safe and prosperous trade relationship.", then he offered another handshake before leaving.

"Thankyou."
The Fego'doi quickly looked at her palmtop, and nodded.
"It is confirmed. Expect the goods to begin arriving via airship. Monitor the airship traffic in your country carefully: every second airship will have goods on. Have you unloaders act as maintenance personnel. The crew will ask you:
"Have you come to fix the broken microwave?"
The answer to confirm to them that you are the rightful contacts is:
"Yes, what were you cooking?"
To confirm that they understand who you are, they will reply:
"We left the foil on the chicken."

She took the handshake, before she left the warehouse.
