The Latros Sacrum
11-12-2007, 22:02
Greetings mortals, I am Lorgar, Primarch of the Word Bearers Legion, and I launch my attacks against the universe from my Daemon World of Sicarus, nothing can stop me, fight me if you wish, but by the end of the century your skin will be on display in the hallowed flesh halls of Sicarus. Try and stop Chaos, if you can.
Lorgar gazed down at Sicarus, remembering when it had been a normal forest planet, he, the Primarch had changed all that. It hand been millenia since Lorgar had left Sicarus, prefering to lead his Legion from its home. But when he felt the time had come for some real action, he had ordered that his huge warship named The Whispered Flame be made ready for battle. The time for this galaxy to burn for Chaos had come, but he would face heavy oposition.

OOC: Um, random set of numbers dude, do please go read the how to rp threads; they're around somewhere. If not, ask. We do have a way of doing things around here.
Also, Sanctum, what do you want to have happen in this thread? Just curious as to what you are looking for before I come in.

OOC: Ok. Auto-ignore time. Binary man has ceased to exist. Now, onto the thread, Latros.
Do you want an OOC thread as well, where we can discuss the matters of this thread without clogging it with non-rp posts?

Sol System, Planet Earth\ Parliament building, London, United Kingdom
The call of Lorgar did not go unnoticed by the galaxy, especially a single nation of humans who were stuck rebuilding. The United Nations Space Command, which had become thearm of the only government left, the United Nations, after the bombardment by the Covenant Loyalists in the aftermath of the Second Battle for Earth had wiped out the Colonial Administration Authority and the United Earth government, intercepted the message at one of its border sensor stations. It had rapidly gone up the chain of command until it was received by the UNSC and its remaining admirals. Due to the short notice of the message and knowing time was of the essence, the leader of the Security Council could only meet with the two still at Earth: Fleet Admiral Harper coordinating the massacred Earth Home Defense Fleet, EHDF, and Admiral Hood, the man now in control of the entire UNSC military.
The leader of the Security Council, and by default, the UN, was a determined British women named Mary Scheller. She was already seated at the table, gazing at reports and information on her PDA when the two men walked in and saluted. Her voice, tired, terse but strong, sounded out. “At ease; sit. We have a situation and we must consider how to solve it.” The two men nodded and sat down, taking off their hats and setting them down on the table. Glancing up at them from her PDA, she spoke again.
“So, tell me, what do you know of the current situation?” Fleet Admiral Harper was the first to answer, coughing into his fist.
“Well, ma'am, from what I was told by ONI, we have received a transmission that was a very hostile challenge directed at the galaxy.”
Hood nodded. “Indeed, and it appears to be from some nation identifying itself with 'Chaos'.”
Mar nodded. “That is right; as of 1130 hours, Sensor Station Archimedes intercepted this transmission, and upon understanding its contents, sent it on the channel with a Priority Alpha tag. As such, we took it very seriously and I personally thank the commander of that station for doing so. We have a potentially large threat that could be on our doorstep very soon. As such, I have come to advise you of the decision the United Nations came up with just now.”
Both Admirals look at each other, eyes wary. The UN had never been so decisive since during the Human-Covenant War. What had they decided? They eyed Mary as she took a breath, glancing at her PDA.
“I am going to be kind and narrow down the long document that the UN likes to make into simple terms. We have decided the rebuilding effort is taking too long, and with threats like this appearing, and the readings of weapons fire being exchanged in systems that are too close for comfort, we just can't risk doing it on our own. That and the reports from Saracis, and Parthaz III about the rebels flaring up isn't helping. We need to do something about this and fast, or we will be facing the same situation as we did before the War.....and we won't have any Spartans or military to make them fall back in line again.” A tense silence fell as the memories of the Spartans, both fallen and missing, filled their minds.
After what felt like an eternity, Hood cleared his throat and broke the uncomfortable silence. “What is the other directive we are to be given?”
Mary sighed and laid her PDA on the table. “We cannot risk this threat, especially if the readings we are getting from the Archimedes is true, so we are asking the navy, note the word ask, to send a cruiser to fight this threat.” She held up a hand to halt the protest coming from Harper's mouth. “I know it is extreme and that we need it, but think about it. If we weaken our resources and stop this threat from fully developing, we at least buy time to get our message out and get help. If we don't do anything, we may be invaded and then we'll face the nightmare we all are having right now.”
Her eyes locked onto Harper and Hood. “We won't force you; after all, we owe you our asses for doing what you did and sacrificing what you could. I only ask, as your Councilor, your leader, and your friend, that you consider this carefully and make the right decision. I do not want regrets gentleman; only resolve.”
Hood and Harper looked at each other for one long minute and then Harper sighed. Hood nodded slightly and looked at Mary. “You will have your cruiser.”
The smile on Mary's face was worth a thousand cruisers.

Aboard UNSC cruiser Defiant, Sicarus System
A large rip appeared in spacetime, as the Shaw-Fukijawa drive did its usual raping of physics and the laws of the universe, spitting out a large cruiser (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/halo/images/thumb/5/54/Marathon-class_Cruiser.JPG/600px-Marathon-class_Cruiser.JPG). This was the UNSC Defiant, a Marathon-class cruiser, the strongest mass-produced ship in the UNSC Navy. Captained by a Captain Anthony Hawkins, this was one of the few cruisers left in the fleet and it was a mighty ship indeed. Able to strike fear in the lesser Covenant ships and able to take massive amounts of damage and can give it back in greater amounts. With its Heavy MAC cannon, similar in power to the Super MAC cannon, only ship-sized, multiple Archer missile pods, Shiva nuclear warheads and its three squadrons of Longsword fighters, it can deal damage to enemy fleets in a hurry. In combination with its point defense system of 40+50mm guns which can lay fields of overlapping fire, it is a perfect answer for the call for “heavy, mobile firepower.”
With the division upon division of battle-hardened, veteran UNSC Marines and ODST's, with their rows of Scorpion tanks, Warthogs and their different variants, Mongooses, Hornets, along with plenty of weapons, ammunition and equipment, it is a one ship invasion force. A perfect response for the needs of a galactic military. So, when the flickers of Slipspace went away and the sensors began to scan the space in the system, it was shown that the UNSC was not playing around this time.
Captain Hawkins sat in his command chair, eyes glued to the “hell screen”, the nickname his crew had for the tactical holoboard he had which displayed the information as it flowed in. Planets popped into being and data scrolled down the screen. On a holopad beside him, a young girl with flowing hair and symbols flowing down her bright blue body stood, gazing at the figures, eyes vacant. Hawkins coughed and she turned to him. “So, Angelica, what do we have here?”
The A.I. Sighed. “Well, so far I have not a lot of data yet, as the scans just began, Captain.” Her face turned stern as he tried to hide his disappointed look. “Don't give me that, sir. You know we are using an experimental new sensor suite, and in combination with the little time I've had to analyze the data, you should know we don't have much. Don't worry; if I detect any enemy ships, I will let you know.”
Hawkins grunted. “Have Alpha Squadron deploy and form a protection perimeter around the ship, pattern alpha beta.” She waved a hand and the orders were sent. Although they were dethawing the crew from the cryo chambers, they were making good time and Alpha Squadron would make it into space within ten minutes. Angelica returned to her study of the data and Hawkins kept his eyes peeled on the screen, while he absently sent orders for the Marines and ODST's to get battle-ready and to prepare all equipment, weapons, vehicles, and ammo. If battle came, he wanted to be ready.

<I apologize for my speaking in binary. It is the native tongue in Machineland, and I have trouble with non-IM English.
So, anyway, mr. "We come to claim the galaxy in the name of Chaos" aliens: Why attack Earth? It is a bad move, since we machines are to inherit it, and there are plenty of other planets to take.
Have you considered Mars?>
