The Naval Service is currently designed with the following mission in mind: Defense of the maritime borders of the Atrurian Irish Homeland
At the current time, the fleet consists of the following:
• LE Emer
• LE Aoife
• LE Aisling
• LE Ethne
• LE Orla
• LE Ciara
• LE Roisin
• LE Niamh
The Atrurian Naval Service shall be expected to take up the following roles:
• Defense of Greater Irish maritime regions including
o Ireland
o The British Isles
o Northeastern North America
o Northwestern Spain
o Western France
• Protection of Greater Irish commerce and trading
• In wartime, undisputed command of the sea
• In peacetime, projection of power anywhere in the world
• Support of air & land forces
• Humanitarian assistance
In order to achieve these goals, the naval service must have these abilities:
• Defense of maritime regions:
o Anti-Air
o Anti-Submarine
o Coastal Defenses
o Maritime patrol
o Boarding & seizure
o Maritime air patrol
o mine countermeasures
• Protection of commerce & trading:
o Escort
o Boarding & seizure
o Prevention of piracy
o mine countermeasures
• Command of sea:
o Anti-submarine
o mining
o Blockading
o Anti-surface vessel
o Control of ports
o Command of river deltas
• Prevention of others’ command of the sea:
o Privateering
o mining
o Smuggling
• Power Projection:
o Carrier groups
o Expeditionary groups
o Amphibious assault
o Forward basing
o Ballistic missile submarines
• Support & Humanitarian:
o Cargo & logistical transport
o Personnel transport/sealift
o Medical ships
o Ship-to-land artillery
o Fleet repair & construction
o Auxilliary Platforms
o Crane ships
Accordingly, the following major modifications shall be made to the Naval Service:
1. The Naval Service shall be divided into theses components:
- The Republican Marine Corps, which shall be responsible for carrying out amphibious assaults, and invasions of ports and coasts
- The Republican Naval Air Force, which will provide air support to the Naval Service and be considered an administrative part of it but consist of Air Corps personnel
- The Republican Navy, which shall be the main force of the Service form all of the above functions not yet mentioned
2. The Navy shall plan to create the following formations in the near future
- 18 Carrier Strike Groups
- 14 Coast Guard Groups
- 9 Merchant Marine Escort Groups
- 6 Dreadnought Battle Groups
- 16 Expeditionary Assault Groups
- 9 Mining Squadrons
- 12 Submarine Squadrons
- 24 Maritime Support Groups
- 6 Mobile Riverine Squadrons
3. The Marine Corps shall establish 2 brigades’ worth of combined arms units
